Absolutely amazing dining experience! We ordered a few starters and were blown away right from the beginning. The scallops were incredibly fresh and tender, a real standout that surprised us with how flavourful they were. The salmon sashimi was also exceptionally fresh and beautifully sliced. The grilled squid had a lovely smoky charcoal aroma and came with a sauce that complemented it perfectly, a very unique and memorable dish. Mains were just as good. The soft shell crab was nice and crispy, and the crispy fried barramundi was cooked perfectly – juicy inside with a sweet and tangy sauce we loved. The duck curry was probably the most moreish dish of the night – so rich and packed with flavour, perfect with the coconut jasmine rice, which had this subtle sweetness and was honestly my favourite kind of rice. The vibe of the place was really relaxed, staff were friendly, and the food came out pretty quick too. Love how the whole menu has this fusion feel. Everything felt fresh, exciting, and super tasty. Will definitely be back to try more!

Absolutely loved this Thai restaurant! Every dish was full of flavor — the fried chicken was crispy and juicy, the braised pork was tender and rich, and the soft shell crab was perfectly cooked with a deliciously spicy sauce. We also had two cocktails, both very beautiful and well-balanced. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the interior decor was stylish with lots of character — a perfect spot for a casual night out. Great place to catch up with friends over good food and drinks. Highly recommended!

Love the ambience. Very friendly staff. Good food ! It’s called fusion but it’s actually less fusion and more catered to western palate. Found it weird with staff loudly reminding us in front of everyone that the booking was for 90 mins. It was on the website, and on open table. Yeah we know. My feedback is that train your staff to be self aware about how they speak to clients. It was not intentional - just lack of training. Good vegetarian options and quick service.

Absolutely loved our dinner at Bali Hai! The food was creative, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. We tried the Pattaya Fishing Tour (kingfish tartare) which was super refreshing with a punchy tom yum dressing—definitely a standout. The scallops with malatang sauce were surprisingly rich and spicy in the best way, and the wagyu steak was cooked perfectly, with a nice smoky char on the outside and tender inside. Another highlight was the soft shell crab—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with a garlic sauce that pulled everything together. The red curry duck was flavourful and balanced with the sweetness of lychee and pineapple. And don’t skip the coconut rice—it’s fragrant and so good on its own or paired with the curry. Service was warm and attentive, and the space had a relaxed, stylish vibe. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for modern Thai food in Melbourne with a bit of a twist!

Everything was soooo flavoursome!! Great value for money. We got the 2 starters, mains, and 1 side. Plus ordered an extra fried chicken. The sauces omg! Just divine. The prawns on the pad Thai were big and juicy. Can’t wait to come back here.

If you love Thai food, ‘BALI HAI’ is an absolute must-visit. From flavour to presentation to service—everything is simply outstanding! Each dish delivers a burst of distinct, perfectly balanced flavours that truly satisfy the palate. The attention to detail in the presentation is remarkable—easily worthy of a 7-star rating for both taste and aesthetics. Dining at BALI HAI is more than just a meal; it's a delightful culinary experience you won’t forget.

Stunning presentation and rich Southeast Asian flavours! Every dish was vibrant and beautifully plated — the scallops were a standout, served in their shells with a punchy sauce, and the salmon sashimi in a dual-colour dressing was both fresh and flavourful. The claypot prawns were juicy and aromatic, paired perfectly with the steamed rice. Pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the Thai milk tea rounded it all out with a smooth finish. Will definitely return!

Booked table through Open Table to celebrate my husbands birthday. The staff was very kind to accommodate our needs and also made it special by surprising us with a candle lit dessert for celebration. Great service and food with plenty of veg options to choose from.
