Cool area, very clean and sleek. You can find lots of cool stores and restaurants. Half the mall is outdoor, nice views and fresh air Enjoy!

Google
This shopping center is located in the heart of the downtown area. It offers a pleasant and well-maintained environment with various dining options and eateries. However, there are many vacant spots in the building. Macy's used to be located here but is no longer present. The building also includes a spacious fitness gym and other retail establishments. On weekends, the area becomes lively due to restaurants and bars.

Good food court, good structure, good couple of anchors (like Regal Cinema), but that's about it. They are suffering from high tenant vacancies. it's gotten so bad that they must have turned the ac way up. I'm sweating as I type this. 🥵💦 Think of the poor ____ doing _____ in this heat. 🫠

Google
Ballston Quarter is in a fantastic location—convenient, lively, and easy to get to. The food court is definitely the highlight, offering a great variety of dining options from quick bites to sit-down meals. It’s a great spot to grab lunch or meet up with friends for a casual dinner. That said, the retail and store selection is a bit underwhelming. If you’re looking to do serious shopping, this might not be the place. It feels more like a hangout or food destination than a full-fledged shopping mall. Still, it’s a clean, modern space with a nice vibe—worth visiting for the eats and atmosphere alone.

Google
The parking is confusing. They are running a scam where you see the instructions for paying for parking when you leave, and by that time they have given you a parking ticket. I asked the parking attendant standing by my car what is going on, and he said, don't worry sir, it is nothing. So he gave me a $10 fine. This shopping center is not doing well, and they are collecting money by giving tickets to their few customers? Will never come back. The right way to run the parking lot is to have employees charging after you are done, not lying to customers. Worst mall ever.

Google
Not really a traditional mall anymore. Mostly entertainment and food. If that’s all you’re looking for then this spot is great for a fun evening.

Google
We had a nice lunch at the True Food Kitchen. I had the all American burger and my other family members had vegan dishes. Everyone was happy with their meals. Restaurant decor was innovative and casual.

Google
Great in almost every way except if you use the family bathroom on the lower floor, expect to have to call the fire department to get you out. It's unbelievable trying to open that door from the inside, nearly impossible. Something needs to be done about that immediately. Enter a your own risk.

Yelp
Given all its space, I don't think the mall is used efficiently. It's a bit confusing as you have to walk across to use escalators or elevators. It was also dirty as my friends and I noticed dog poop smeared in the elevators. The stores and restaurants are ok. I wasn't impressed but wasn't disappointed either. The only thing I really liken is the food court.
google avatar

Yelp
It's not Ballston Commons Mall anymore. They totally revamped it and now it has a Reston Town Center, Mosaic kind of vibe. Has a movie theater, gym, and plenty of swanky restaurants. Punch Bowl Social takes up like 3 floors at one end. The CVS and Capitals ice rink are still there. Less fast food vibes. The iconic Macy's is gone. The massive parking lot is still there and I think it's free now. The past 4 times I was there in 2024, parking was free of charge. That could all change.

Yelp
Eh I just come here for the food court with many excellent places to eat or to check out the Mezeh or Chick Fil-a. The mall itself doesn't seem to have much to draw you in but then again I'm not exactly a big shopping person. Parking here isn't free but it's pretty cheap at $1.50 or so for three hours. Payment via the app is a little weird the first time but at least it's cheap and the parking garage had plenty of spots on a weekend afternoon. There's some good places to eat here or you can park here and walk pretty much anywhere in Ballston but not too much to see at the mall otherwise.

Yelp
Was only here for 1.5 days, but walked around this entire area and thought it was really nice! Lots of shopping, lots and lots of food and drinks, and everything seemed safe / upscale / clean. I liked the variety of places and the ease of access to everything from my hotel (on foot). There's also a seemingly high amount of colleges in this area. Maybe that's why the shopping / eating / drinking variety is so high? Hope yo come back some day

Yelp
Meh This is a mostly dead mall that has some scattered stores and restaurants. Not sure if they want it to be a dining location but it the storefronts look like they are dressing sets to shoots remake of Logan's run A lot of walking for not many (or eye popping) options Clean though. Just needs some developing

Yelp
This review is for the still-semi-new Ballston Quarter. Many people probably don't remember what the mall was like during the 2000s and 2010s. It was the opposite of a destination. There were mostly mediocre chain stores and fast food restaurants. Why go to Ballston when you could visit the more spacious Pentagon City mall or the more high end Tyson's Corner? Overall, Ballston Quarter's renovation was for the better. The new food hall and dining spots alone are a huge upgrade, both in terms of quality and overall cool vibe. The interior shopping still leaves something to be desired: many store fronts are empty, and I find it a bit confusing to navigate. I miss some elements of the old atrium feel. But this is a nice place to hang out, walk around, and grab a bite. The renovation created a solid new foundation in the heart of the neighborhood.

Yelp
The mall has undergone a total transformation with the new Ballston Market food court on the ground floor and new shops popping up. As fellow Yelper Elite Gretchen noted, the Ballston Market deserves its own listing and the old reviews don't reflect the mall make-over! With over a dozen vendors, the food hall offers diverse culinary cuisines - Rogi pierogis (formerly's Zofia's Kitchen), Rice Crook's rice bowls, Maizal arepa and South American veggie bowls, Go Poke bowls, Roll'd dumplings, Superette hearty sandwiches, Sloppy Mama's BBQ, Hot Lola's fried chicken and curly fries, seafood from The Local Oyster, Bollywood Bistro Indian food, Turu's New York style-pizza from Timber, Ice Cream Jubilee, and Service Station serving beer and cider on draft. There's also sit-down restaurants - True Foods, Bar Taco and Copa Kitchen. There's even Chick-Fil-A, something for everyone! Most of vendors stay open until 9pm on the weekends e.g. Turu's, Ice Cream Jubilee, Rogi, Superette, Bollywood Express, Mezeh - but some of them e.g. Maizal, Roll'd, Rice Crook, Go Poke, close early. Just check the individual restaurant site. After making the rounds to the different vendors - here's the scoop: Rogi - formerly Zofia's Kitchen (4/5) - While the bite-size pierogies are pricey (5 for $9), I enjoyed the pan-fried spinach and feta and the mushroom pierogies with the lemon dill sour cream dipping sauce. The Latake donut is fun to try and a giant hashbrown. The diversity and culinary experience is worth the hefty price. Service Station (5/5) - Impressive selection of beers and ciders on tap. The True Berry Hard Seltzer and Downeast Guava are my picks! Hot Lola's (5/5) - The seasoned curly fries were delish! Superette (4/5) - The red sangria is made to order and quite refreshing, packs a punch! The fried Oreos were a bit of a miss. Ice Cream Jubilee (3/5) - The ice cream looks amazing and a bit deceiving - just not as good as it looks. The crunchy waffle cone really elevates the flavor. Maizal (3/5) - While I was really rooting for the arepas and loaded bowls filled to the brim with a galore of toppings, the sour service really falls short of the food. I arrived a minute before 8pm on Sat and the mean male server shooed me away. The arepas were so overstuffed that all the toppings feel out and turned into a sloppy mess. Maizal has potential, but the poor staff and execution really ruin the experience. Turu's by Timber Pizza (2/5) - The pizza has really gone downhill and heavily coated in grease. Turu's was soo good in the 1st year it opened and just threw in the towel after the 1st slice after my last visit. Bar Taco (1/5) - Hands-down the WORST cocktails. At $10 a pop for a cocktail, the Margarita was a sugar overload and the sangria tastes like jungle juice. If you're looking for a great glass of sangria - head over to Superette. I did a side-by-side sangria taste test and hand-down Superette won! I wasn't a fan of the AMC 12 movie theater. It's quite outdated with lax security, no one checked our tickets and the popcorn and snacks tasted terrible. As someone who loves popcorn and made popcorn in movie theater in high school, the popcorn here is by far the WORST. While the theater rooms are small, the seats are quite comfy with a pull-out tray for snacks. Excited to come back for more culinary experiences and try new vendors.

Yelp
I came here for a hair appointment and I almost never come to this area because it's just kinda...there's no culture or stores I can't find elsewhere but the person who cuts my hair is now here so here I go. Not really knowing where their space was, I opted to use the paid parking (only $1 for 3 hours which I thought was fair). The red/green parking lights however, are not to be trusted. The green ones indicating open spaces were lies. Once I found a spot, trying to pay for the parking was an issue. For 10 min I tried to pay on the website that the QR code takes you to, however it would simply not work. Thankfully someone pointed out the machine in the elevator lobby where you can punch in your license plate and a Buck and be on your way. Thankfully it printed a receipt for me without issue because after this experience I fully expect a ticket from VDOT saying I didn't pay because I don't get the feeling this place has their shit together. When I came out into some kind of lobby I looked for a map to see where the salon was and could not find a map. Only a thing advertising the 20 different eateries you could visit there. So I pulled up my google maps app and it took me outside and then on roughly a quarter-mile walk around the outside of the building and into a lobby with again no signage. There was a security desk but no person. I finally flagged someone down who said "I think it's down that hall" so I entered another set of doors that looked like it was heading to a restaurant and found the place. That was roughly 75 feet from where google maps had me exit the building for the lap in 90 degree heat Anyway, now I know where it is. I will go back because I like the salon but Christ Ballston. Hang up a map or something.

Yelp
Ballston Quarter is not the traditional mall experience. While there are stores, the design is more eateries and experience activities. For instance, there are a variety of restaurants (i.e. True Food Kitchen) and a food court with ample indoor & outdoor seating. You can get everything from pizza to arepas to donuts to Indian cuisine and so much more. For things to do, there's a movie theater (Regal), laser tag (5Wits), cooking classes (Cookology), and the ultimate game zone (Punchbowl Social). What's really cool are the murals. They are fun photo opportunities for sure. There are stairs, escalators, and elevators to get around the multi levels, and a map to guide you. A solid 3.5 overall! Rounding up because of the variety of food options and fun things to do.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times mostly because my partner had work related stuff in the area. Last week was the first time I discovered the food court in the basement. It actually looked pretty cool with a decent variety of interesting stalls like noodles, pizza, bubble tea and other desserts. The seating area was spacious so social distancing was ok and people generally wore masks when not eating. I don't think it's fair to evaluate the stores on the other levels during Covid but looked like there was a mix of retail, food, art and entertainment. Would probably have been a nice hangout spot with friends for an afternoon. The parking in the attached ramp is pretty nice as others have mentioned. $1 for up to 3 hours seems like a steal. I didn't have an issue previously paying with credit card but last week it couldn't read my card successfully so I paid cash before getting back into my car. Then when I inserted the ticket at the exit it still asked for payment. Granted it wasn't a big deal to pay an additional dollar but it caught me off guard. Luckily it wasn't crowded but I would have felt bad if I had ended up holding up the exit ramp line.

Yelp
Parking sucks. Instructions are confusing. I couldn't get cell phone connection to the internet where I parked, which is necessary to use their system. I just left. The stores are losing business because they're trying to save pennies on a strange parking system.

Yelp
The Mall that wasn't... Cookology looked like a nice set up - Cooking classes. We stopped by and had our questions answered by one of their employees - got a flyer, calendar of upcoming classes in January and a card for 10% discount for probably 1 session. Looks like a cute place. 5 Wits was busy, but an employee came over and chatted with us - got a flyer which stated this spot has Interactive & highly immersive real-life adventures - can we say U.Y.E. Regal - I didn't go inside, but from a distance (within the mall), it looks huge, compared to a few other Regal locations I have been to. Punch Bowl Social - I had not been back since their grand opening night. There were a few other places, but not much. We mainly came here to do some shopping, but discovered this is not the mall for that - seemed like a lot of wasted space. We were going to check out the food, but their food court area seemed a little dreary - I was disappointed in the space so we didn't eat there, plus the area was just too hot. Parking for 3 hours is $1 - I didn't look to see the other prices. There are 8 floors of several parking spots (large parking garage), but only 4 floors of business. We did see signs for an ice rink on 8th but, never made it there to check it out. No one was in this mall...No one (we had just come from a very busy mall prior - what a big difference in comparison). Nothing else caught my attention. I probably won't be going back - I was not impressed.

Yelp
Whack! That's the only way to describe Ballston Quarter. I thought this was going to be an actual mall but all they really had was Macy's and a handful of other stores. The only thing that brings value is the Ballston Market which deserves a separate review. There are also other restaurants attached that probably bring value as well. But otherwise, don't waste your time. I think it's dumb that you have to pay for parking at a mall or shopping center where you will obviously be spending money anyway. However, I don't know the inner workings of how these places get money and use it so I'll just move on from that discussion.

Marisol G.

Yelp
The parking garage changed. Instead of paying at the end of your visit, now you pay at the beginning via app or kiosk in the entry lobby. The kiosk makes you enter your license plate # to pay. At the end of your visit you drive right on out of the garage, no ticket attendant or ticket gate like in the past. I won't be back. Better malls/shopping/entertainment elsewhere with free or normal parking.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow, what a difference! Garage parking is $1 (up to 3 hours). While hubs and I walked around, we couldn't help but continually say how much this mall has changed since our Marymount days. We haven't visited Ballston in years and it's completely different, in a great way! I love the new design and space. Plenty of seating all around, the mall is clean, and spacious. Lots of new stores and filled with good eats. The bottom floor (Quarter Market) has a variety of local restaurants. There are so many restaurants around the mall as well. There is an outdoor space on the bottom floor with a lovely layout. Restrooms have all been updated and were clean. I'm so glad they remodeled this mall and that we got a chance to visit again.

Yelp
Suprised to see the low ratings on Ballston Quarter. For a foodie like me, it is practically paradise: a covered place full of great places to eat (and room to enjoy it). While I agree it doesn't have much retail shopping, I think it is a great destination for any type of occasion - you've got your Ted's Bulletin for a casual date night or brunch, the lower floor food court for casual bites, and the brand new Whino for your art and drinks. It's hard to feel like "you've been there, done that" her and not many 'malls' can accomplish that vibe. I do think the branding can be a little bit better because the inside is super modern and clean, but the outside blends in with some of the residential and commercial buildings it surrounds. Pro tip: park in the adjoining garage for cheap hourly rates - I paid $1 to park here while a friend paid $11 parking in the garage by nearby Chipotle.

Yelp
Wow, what a fun place!!! Let's start with the parking, I don't think there is any place in the DMV that charges $1 for parking, I'm sold just with that. So many incredible food vendors in one place! Ballston Quarter has it all to satisfy all cravings: sushi, ramen, pizza, ice cream, hamburgers, oysters, Latin food, beer, doughnuts, hot chicken, you name it!! I love the hip food court idea, not to mention the place itself is sooo beautiful, lots of seating, great ambiance, beautifully designed. The outdoor space is perfect for good weather days! They did an amazing job with the remodel of the space. Totally worth checking it out, you won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Mischa J.

Yelp
I like this new place a lot better than I liked it when it used to be a mall a few short years ago. The mall really needed a major facelift and that is exactly what it got (out with the old, in with the new), plus the old mall seemed to attract a not-so-good crowd of people who would hang out there all day and every day. The only thing is that I hope to see a few more retail and dining options in the future. It still looks like a work in progress. I also do not like the graphic art that they have on the upper level (outside), because in my opinion, a "real" mural is a painting on a wall... not a large sheet of canvass or plastic with graphic art on it.

Yelp
Ballston Quarter, formerly Ballston Common Mall, is getting a face lift!....And, a quite nice one I might add!! The mall has been under renovation for the past year and the improvements made are certainly for the better. In the past, the mall was known to be always empty and a ghost town reduced to few, small business shops, mid-tier brands and a Macy's as an anchor store. Even though I work a few blocks from this mall, I rarely frequented it myself...except for to hit up the Chick-fil-A in the food court every now and then. The rest of the food court options were dismal, limited and sometimes questionable....in the food being served. lol This is definitely not the case for the newly renovated space. There are big plans for the opening of several big brands, sharing space with great local small business finds. Most of the stores have opening dates of Spring 2019, with a few stores opening now. One of the first big hits to open for sure is the mid-west, big-box restaurant chain....Punch Bowl Social. It is a great eating spot, adult playground and definitely....Ballston's new funhouse for millennials. Also, One Life Fitness Gym and one of my favorites....Chick-fil-A has reopened in the mall today...to be exact! Talk about me being excited and an addiction...I can eat that stuff everyday! Additional cool shopping options and more hip eating spots are expected to come soon...such as True Food, Ice Cream Jubilee, H&M.....and anything else one would need to keep your style game strong and your day-to-day life on point. With all of this...and the addition of a new indoor/outdoor food court eatery....with over 18 local restaurants creating street tacos, flavorful noodle bowls, artisan ice cream, and other foodie inspired eats.....I'm sure there will never be a dull lunch or happy hour moment in this mall for a while!! Can't wait to see what else unfolds with Ballston Quarter. Whichever is the case or plan, it is certainly for the better and has brought sort of revival for the often neglected Ballston neighborhood. **Updated review....coming in the Spring, 2019 to cover this place and gauge if my excitement is still the same! But, for now....a thumbs-up from my observation and standpoint! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ * Interesting Pointless Fact #1 -- Ballston Common Mall, originally opened as a Shopping Center at it current site in 1951 and was one of the first major suburban shopping centers in the Washington, D.C. area. * Interesting Pointless Fact #2: It was the first shopping center to be built around a multi-story parking garage in the United States.

Yelp
We needed to contact security and it was not possible. The security office was unmanned, the phone number to reach them went straight to voicemail, and the voicemail box was full. We asked multiple businesses and none were able to contact security. This mall is unsafe.

Yelp
My balls have done great things for me. What have your Ballston? Common, tell me! This is a popular Mall in Ballston, which is a fancy little expensive corporate area of Arlington Northern Virginia, very close to Washington DC. Basically a suburb very close to the city, and this is the main shopping center within it, at least in centralized terms. Although most NOVA people will go to Potomac Mills, Tysons, Fair Oaks, and so on, rather than coming into the city - basically - to shop here. I'm not a big fan of this mall by any means. I've only been here twice and I'm hoping not to make it a third time. Much like your mother's bedroom.
google avatar

Jane L.

Yelp
Some potential here... so far not too bad. A lot of businesses are not finished even though the whole thing was slated to be finished in February 2019. I haven't looked at plans or renderings but after walking around, the upper levels look like they will be used for lounging around and using WiFi? Hmm. That business model may need some review. As for the lower level, everything I've eaten has been delicious -- Timber Pizza, Hot Lola's, Jubilee Ice Cream and on the ground level I have had South Block. No complaints from any of those. The outdoor seating areas are nice and it looks like nearby workers are already enjoying the space. Regal cinemas is standard. Freezing but comfy. Caps practice rink is awesome. Easy access to Stanley Cup champions. Can't beat that. So, we'll see how it shapes up. I mean, after Hecht's/Putt Putt and then Ballston Mall, there's no where to go but up for this place.
google avatar

Percy M.

Yelp
It only takes looking at the directory to see that this isn't as much a mall as it is a place to grab a bite to eat. Its cute during Christmas time with a big tree put up. Stopped in on a hot day to cool off and am not sure that they have working Air conditioning.... it was so hot and humid in the corridor before the theater that we opted not to even see a show, maybe just a bad visit. Alot of foot traffic so hopefully they can get more stores.

Yelp
Ever since Ballston Mall rebranded, it's definitely a really nice spot to meet up with friends, have a date night, or even window shop! There's a number of different floors and everything's so different from what I remember from my childhood. There's a lot of new restaurants and shops still in the process of opening as well. The food court is on the bottom floor and there's so much space to be able to walk around and tons of seating. It's especially nice during the winter holidays where you get to see all of the pretty decorations!
google avatar

Marisol D.

Yelp
How cute is this place? I wish I've known about this area sooner. Couldn't believe that there was parking for $1 right beside the building. There are so many cool and delicious noms, I wish I had time to want to try and eat them all. A little bit of everything for everyone.

Meg D.

Yelp
The mall has some interesting food places, etc. but the parking is a total scam. They now have you use an app, but the attendants ticket when you are clearly within time and then make you dispute it every time. Totally annoying and unnecessary - nothing here is worth the hassle of the garage.
google avatar

Austin G.

Yelp
Ballston Quarter is the rehaul of the very outdated Ballston Common in Arlington, Virginia, and they did a good job in the renovations. The Macy's, ice rink, parking, and the gym are all the same, but the levels are more modern and less depressing. The real winner is the food hall with over a dozen restaurants to choose from local doughnuts to ice cream to fried chicken. There's even a beautiful leveled outdoor space complete with lawn games. It's a beautiful spot!

Yelp
just the food was good but when i look like in my drink it looked like it had rats inside i thought the waiter was tricking me but she was laughing in the back 1 Star

Yelp
Perhaps this mall was built on a cemetery hence everything thing that goes on here just completely fails to hit the mark but even with the newly open stores/restaurants, I am scared that this place may just never be able to be what Tysons or Pentagon City mall is. Hopefully I am able to swallow my words in a few more months when this place finally fully re-opens but it's looking grim. Parking deck is confusing yet still cheap. I would give it a 4 star just for cheap parking but I assume this won't last long. Walking around here is confusing and the mall doesn't flow at all, with some stores being outside (but not clear right now) and some inside. With the amount of stairs everywhere you don't know if they are leading to the parking garage or to the other stores or what. People were definitely trying to figure out where the food court is, where the Chick-fila is, where the other things are in this place and yes they have a few signs but they need to up their game with some touch screen maps or something. There are some promising additions here, like a Cookology which I am quite excited for but I am interested to see what retailers open. They also have a Nook for kids which I guess looks interesting, and an escape room like area on the 3rd floor. Right now the majority of the stores are cell phone stores, a Macy's, and a Francesca's. And now this brings me to the food court like area on the bottom floor. There is something going on down there- it's dark and gloomy and most of those working at the different areas don't really seem to want to be bothered. I think the biggest mistake being made down here is not clearly having signs to tell customers they need to throw their food away and remove their tray. So many people were just leaving their food and trays on the table and there was obviously no one collecting these. As someone who can pick up on ques around me I brought my tray to the trash but I don't think many people realized that...there was trash everywhere. All in all I hope this place has the glow-up all of us Arlington-ers are hoping for but for now, things look dismal.

Yelp
Really awesome to see thing mall change from what it WAS to what it is NOW. With all the renovations completed the past year, the mall looks modern and hip focusing on food and entertainment. There's a food court, new restaurants, renovated gym and movie theater with recliner seating. Definitely check out the new Mall. Great for a casual food environment!
google avatar

Yelp
Love the renewed space. Definitely far from the Ballston Mall I remember. I love the modern layout and the restaurant options. Such a fun place to meet up with friends. Everyone can get whatever they want: Asian, pizza, ice cream, etc and meet in the common space to enjoy. Service Station has a decent drinks menu that will meet everyone's taste. With ample seating and a decent outdoor space, this place will meet all needs. It's a cool spot to meet up as a group.

Yelp
The Ballston Quarter is more of a food and entertainment destination (and less for shopping) than most standard malls. There's a great movie theater, gym, escape room, and cooking school. Also, places for hair, nails, and relaxing massages. And a huge food hall with fantastic pasta, pizza, Sichuan chicken sandwiches, and gourmet ice cream and donuts( to name a few). Also, a lot more on the way. Hopefully, as new things come they'll fill the empty spaces and make it more complete, but most of what's there is great. They also do a lot of fun community activities - movie nights, holiday crafts, etc The new Ballston Quarter is a welcome change and great addition to the neighborhood.

Yelp
@ballstonquarter 10/10! I love that everything is in one place, parking and shopping & FOOD. I love food halls cause you don't have to choose just 1 things to try, you can eat a few different items shared unmongst friends. @ballstonsuperette 10/10!!! Staff is absolutely phenomenal and so sweet but the food is AWESOME. Actually the reason I wanted to come here specifically to try their food. I had The short rib sandwich & the Philly cheesesteak w/ waffle fries. Def gonna try their homemade chips next time! We also got frozés & sangria here which were so yummy. @maizalstreetfood 10/10 the empanadas were sooooo good, they had an assortment of fillings but the shrimp was probably the favourite. Nachos were also very good, a classic which was a huge portion! @ballstongopoke 10/10 DE-LISH and MASSIVE. Everything was so fresh and tasty and they really piled up on the toppings which we love. Can't wait to come back here! Parking is also sooooo inexpensive

Yelp
So I can't speak to the restaurants/food choices or stores but I can't wait to be back and try the food and shop here!! This place is so different than it used to be years ago!! I'm so happy to have found a nice mall with lots of new things for us to explore. Most exciting for us is the Nook and some space for our kid to walk around in the future. The decor and overall ambience is sooo drastically different it's definitely worth checking out! The odd part was we couldn't find a bathroom... apparently they aren't on every floor? (At least not for the public?) it worked out and we went to the food court level and found nice new spacious bathrooms!! There was a family bathroom but we ended up just using the women's bathroom which had a baby changing station away from the stalls; clutch!!

Yelp
Very sad place (as shopping malls go). Could really use an upgrade. I've never shopped here but I've visited the food court a couple times (Chick-Fil-A, Panera, Noodles & Company). The building seems so out of place among all the development going on in the Ballston area. The parking garage can be a bit confusing to navigate. Pro: Very close proximity to the metro.

Yelp
Bottom line up top: Pros: food court covers a lot of bases, mall is in great condition and some of the new shops provide for a unique experience Cons: without many mainstream stores, the mall just feels empty, and you really don't feel like there's a true "must-see" destination -------------------- It's okay for what it is - a cool hangout spot with some new stores, but it's marred by what it isn't - an actual mall. Ballston Quarter is the reimagined version of what was once the decrepit Ballston Common Mall, which greatly showed its age, and the decline in profit over the years seemed to reflect that. People were starting to choose other local malls over Ballston, like Pentagon City, Springfield Town Center, and Tyson's Corner - all of which received facelifts over the years. Given that there was still a lot of money and interest in the area, they decided to reinvent the mall into a new destination for those looking for trendy shops and new dining places for the bustling town of Ballston. At its core, Ballston Quarter wants to be modern - there's lots of emphasis on social media posting with Instagram Alley and lots of other spots where they encourage people to provide free advertisement for the mall. They've included many new small-business stores, which is great for the up-and-coming merchants that wanted their big break storefront. They included places for cooking classes and also an augmented reality experience. Even the food court features many brand new choices in a very tantalizing, market-style food court on the bottom floor that covers many bases - from Mexican to Asian cuisine, pizza to ice cream. Presentation wise, it's miles beyond what it used to be, and it looks great. Unfortunately, that's about where the experience ends. The biggest problem with this mall is that it just doesn't have enough of a shopping selection, and most of the choices, while they do provide some nice merchandise, just don't seem to fill the needs of the area. It doesn't have a Victoria's Secret, a GameStop, a Sephora, an H&M, an Auntie Anne's - most (if not all) of the bigger names that you would be looking for in a mall are just wholly absent. You really can't do Christmas shopping for the latest and greatest things at Ballston Quarter because they just aren't there. And the irony of it all is that most of the stores I just mentioned were actually in the Ballston Common Mall that the Ballston Quarter replaced! Come on, man! Without those choices or any close alternatives, and without any real updates to the Macy's and Regal Cinema that have been the anchors since the old mall closed, it just looks beautiful and feels empty. There's so much wasted space inside, and no real "must-see" destination. It's like they wanted to make a trendy mall on a minimal budget. The most I could give this mall is 3 stars, but it also doesn't seem to execute the tools it has to the best degree, and that's why this mall receives 2 stars for now. If they decide to bring in some more mainstream shops to fill in the holes, I'll certainly give an update to this review. It's headed in the right direction, but it needs more to feel complete.

Yelp
Okay, so honestly Ballston Quarter deserves its own brand-spankin' new Yelp listing, because all of these terrible reviews are a (deserved) reflection of how Ballston Common Mall USED to be. Not anymore, though! It's not even sufficient to say that this place has gotten a facelift -- it's more like it's gotten an entire, full-body transplant. They gutted and replaced pretty much every aspect of the mall save for the Regal movie theatre and the gym, and it's a totally different place. There's beautiful natural light, plenty of hallway seating, spacious hallways, and tons of GREAT businesses moving in. And it's not even done yet! It's well-worth coming out to check out the spots that are already open, and I am waiting with baited breath for additional restaurants and shops to have their grand opening. Parking is still just $1 for up to 3 hours in the garage, and I look forward to getting to update this review when everything is open and fully operational. In the meantime though, I just wanted to make it clear if people come a-searchin' for info on BQ that this is NOT the Ballston Mall of old.

Yelp
The parking attendants are huge scammers. After paying at the kiosk, the ticket machine jammed and the supervisor said she didn't see any tickets from us, and made us pay again, this time for $10, the lost ticket fee. She and the gate attendant were unbelievably rude and unhelpful

Yelp
We LOVE ballston quarter! So much good food. Always feels very safe and clean. We love the food court because all of the options. We recently had ice cream jubilee, turus pizza and supperette!

Yelp
Whoever is running the parking is a scam artist. First the machine couldn't read my parking ticket, then it said it couldn't read my credit card, none of them. So the attendant charged me $10, for a 30-minute trip to Ballston quarter. Extremely unprofessional, extremely frustrating.

Yelp
Some good restaurants here with good potential, also some terrible restaurants. My favs are Hot Lola's, Timber Pizza and Ted's. Hopefully the restaurants currently under construction pick up the slack of the current places. Not a fan of how some restaurants close earlier than the mall does.

Yelp
LOVE this place. It's not so great mall wise, but the food court is amazing. The movie theatre is nice too, along with Francesca's and Scout and Molly's. It will be a lot better once some more stores get added, but I come here for the food. There's something for everyone's tastes and it's not chain places. There's no Panda Express or McDonald's in the food court. There is a Chick-fil-A off the beaten path, but it's Chick-fil-A so who cares. I love Chick-fil-A. My favorite food here is sloppy mama's bbq. Ice cream jubilee is also another favorite. I love it. I also love that they do events here. It's like a community. I'm so happy they're here.

Yelp
The interior design is nice with Instagrammable walls and a great outdoor space. The only thing is that stores are oddly spaced far apart and there needs to be better navigational signs. The downstairs food hall has lots of variety. I went during a Yelp After Dark event and pretty much stuffed myself sick for a $10 donation that allowed us samples at most or all of the stands. Pizza, ice cream, handmade pop tarts, mini donuts, chips and salsa, fried chicken, french fries, and pasta. Oh my. Yeah, I ate too much!

Yelp
This review is solely about the establishment and not the stores or food hall. I agree with everyone here, this place is a nice all around family hangout. The completely re-did the whole entire mall and is no longer an old and dated ballston mall. The layout is a bit confusing, but they have signage everywhere so it helps show you were everything is. I sure hope they add more nicer stores in the mall. The food hall area is the winner, GREAT outdoor seating and play area for kids. We have been here on nicer and warmer weather, and it is so nice and pleasant to hang and sit outside. The food court itself offers a lot of selection. There are a lot of seating, and they keep the area very clean, especially the restrooms. This place is definitely family friendly! The parking is also not bad at all compared to parking in DC or Georgetown. It is attached to the iceplex where the caps practice, so it's also nice to check that place out, maybe go ice skating when there is open skate available. Overall, this is a great place to check out. Especially the newly added food hall!

Yelp
This review is for 2 restaurants at Market Quarter. Roll D --- A big No! Sushi is totally inferior and uninspired. The ones at Giant and Harris Teeter groceries taste even better. Trying to be fusion but failing miserably. Totally falling short of legit, even passable sushi. One star for this. Maybe even less. Yu & Mi Noodle -- This is nowhere near your Japanese Ramen Noodle House. It's a hit or miss "owner'stake" on a noodle dish. I went with the recommendation of BBQ Pork as protein (this is ok), ramen as noodles (commercial quality) and Filipino Adobo Duck broth. As a Filipino, Adobo Duck is as rare as an eclipse; we just don't adobo Duck but the take on the broth is flavorful. Several combinations available. Nothing fantastic but this soup is good enough to try with an open mind and palette but maybe not to count as among your favorites. The Duck Bao though is something you should order. And hey, they have free refills on $ 1.50 sodas.

Yelp
This mall was completely redesigned from a very typical 80s mall a few years back. HOWEVER - inexplicably one holdout is the parking system. 1970s paper card readers with a high failure rate. After a recent visit, exiting took 15 minutes because of "READ ERRORS" experienced in both lanes. Big line of cars honking for what - so they can collect $1? Install a modern system & don't penalize customers already paying a lot of money at the shops/restaurants inside.

Yelp
After the renovation, this place looks like a completely different mall. Now is more easy to walk through the hallways. There is an inviting ambiance with great light and music. Most of the stores are close, but I believe once is at full capacity will be a great place to shop and have great food. Is very close to the metro, it has a great gym, and food court is located in the lower level.

Yelp
Ballston Quarter is such an improvement from the old mall. This is a revitalization that will take time to make it perfect. The Quarter Market is a great family and friend gathering place. Gradually new food establishments are opening. This will take time to find the right businesses for a new concept. Please do not become a Pentagon or Tyson's style mall. We want something different. The stores will work themselves out depending on the clientele. I welcome the new concept and area. Thank you for thinking outside the box and providing a new place for the neighborhood.

Yelp
It's a very, very scaled down version of the Fashion Centre in Pentagon City. You'll find some basic typical services likes clothes stores, food, and cell phone services, for instance, plus there is a Regal cinema theatre here as well. I usually come here when there is a specific good or service I need that I know is going to be here (if there is anything special you need, odds are you're not going to find it here). For instance, I'm currently here to get my watch fixed. On the brighter side, it's cheaper than most non-outlet malls so you'll probably find some deals.
