"Situated in the historic Buda Castle district, amid bustling restaurants and pubs, this intimate design hotel has just 11 individually appointed rooms that feel like hidden gems. Warm wood paneling and moody hues envelop you in the reception area, and many of the interiors are inspired by the works of famous artists and designers—the two-bedroom Baltazar Loft is a standout, with Keith Haring–inspired artwork on exposed brick walls and two king-size beds. A free hot breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant makes this a good value for money-conscious travelers; those who stick around for lunch and dinner can enjoy grilled meats cooked up in the Spanish-style charcoal Josper oven over a glass of Hungarian wine, then hit the town. The hotel is one of a number of properties run by the local Zsidai family, who also own some of the city’s trendiest boîtes, including an Italian concept restaurant in partnership with Britain’s beloved chef Jamie Oliver."

Hotels as Remarkable as Their MICHELIN Restaurants

"We can confidently say that every city in the world needs a boutique hotel along the same general lines as Budapest’s Hotel Baltazár." - Mitchell Friedman

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. The hotel is so charming. The location was perfect, away from city noise. The room was outstanding. Clean, spacious, and just felt very relaxed there. The food at the restaurant was excellent. The staff was exceptional!! Daniel went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. I just can't say enough good things about this place.

The hotel is beautifully decorated, the rooms are very cosy and the bed is super comfortable. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is excellent, especially if taken in the terrace enjoying the sun. Location in the castle district is great. Very good restaurants around (including the one in the hotel).

So very helpful!!|We arrived at the hotel at 10pm to find that the staff had no knowledge of us, our booking or anything. We were on a Monday to Friday city break, so had very little spare time.|Now, this hotel has only 11 rooms so we were thrilled to hear they had 2 available, but one of them was booked the following day so we would have to change rooms then.|The mess up was the fault of the 'middleman', which we have since sorted, but the professionalism of the staff was superb. |Yes, it kind of ruined the next day, trying to find out what had happened but we just relied on the hotel staff|I have to give a shout out to Daniel especially, his knowledge of Budapest and its travel system was so very helpful.|The hotel itself is fabulous, very funky and feelgood.|What started out a bit of a disaster quickly became a wonderful 4 days

The room is nicely decorated and is very clean. My family (4 of us) had a wonderful stay at this quiet spot on the Pest side of the city. The breakfast is great with the lovely outdoor seating.|The Manager, Andrew, was extremely helpful when our train travel got canceled on the morning of our departure. Andrew helped us speak to the train company and found an alternative for our travel. With the language barrier, without Andrew's help, we would have been in big trouble. He saved our day. Thank you, Andrew.

Excellent small boutique hotel. Quiet. Clean. European room size, but not postage stamp, hallelujah! Great service from staff who care. They’ll help you with tours, transport, etc. Even at the last minute ||Delicious croissant/coffee/OJ breakfast. ||Hotel is in the Buda Castle District, with the major sites and easy walk away. Several good restaurants nearby.||To get to the Pest side, you can walk about a half hour, Uber/taxi, or easily take the bus and tram. Coming back to the quiet of the Baltazar after being in the noisier Pest was a welcome respite.||Highly recommend!

I broke my tradition of booking a room in the city center, and it turned out to be the best decision I could have made. Baltazár is located in the Castle District of Budapest, so if you arrive by car, you’ll need to pass through the barrier at the castle gate. I actually saw this as a plus — it made me feel like my car was in a secure location.||I traveled with my two dogs, and the hotel welcomed them without any objections — a rare exception in Budapest, or even in Hungary. What’s more, when it turned out that the booking site had incorrectly stated that the pet fee was included in the room price, the hotel didn’t charge me. That’s what I call excellent customer focus.||I was even able to choose the room I preferred. It was spacious, cozy, and high-class — a perfect blend of comfort and style. You can really tell that attention to detail matters here.||Breakfast wasn’t included in the room rate, but we decided to enjoy a slow, easy morning and try it anyway. No regrets — it was delicious and abundant.

The pros: Extremely comfortable bed, clean room and a good place to relax in. The staff we encountered were very good. We had a problem with our booked room and this was sorted out without any problems. The breakfast (Eggs benedict in my case) was very tasty.||The cons: Small things - I would say the breakfast time could be a little earlier, especially on weekdays. I had to work from 8 (they advertise as catering to business travellers) and really had to rush it. Interestingly, on our final breakfast we were offered bread, which we weren't on the previous mornings. I still prefer buffet breakfasts but can understand why they don't offer this.||Overall, we enjoyed our stay. If you want a peaceful location - but with easy access to the centre, then you can consider this hotel.

Lovely boutique hotel - we were made to feel really welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Room was beautiful and bed very comfy. Great location in a quiet area but with great bus service to get you wherever you need to go in the city.
