BWI—A Mid-Size Starport with Big Force Energy
Among the hyperspace lanes of the Northeast, BWI shines like a well-placed navigation beacon. A favored stop in my travels, it serves as a major stronghold for Southwest pilots—making it a strategic hub for those journeying across the galaxy.
Its mid-sized layout makes for swift and simple navigation—no droids or datapads required. Food and shopping outposts are plentiful, with my favorite being Leann Chin. Their crew welcomes you like an old friend at the Jedi Temple, and the food? Strong with the wok-side of the Force.
Currently, major enhancements are underway—a new Concourse A/B Connector and advanced Baggage Handling System are being constructed behind the blue barrier walls. What awaits travelers? Direct concourse connections, expanded holdrooms, more concession options, and, yes—larger and enhanced restroom facilities. A brighter future for this starport, the architects are forging.
Speaking of restrooms—already many have been upgraded, offering space and comfort worthy of a galactic council chamber. Clean, modern, and far from the chaos of lesser systems.
But beware: ground transport remains the airport’s weak spot. The rental speeder hub is off-site, and shuttles—though brave—arrive less frequently than hoped. Travelers are advised to arrive early, as even the holonet (aka their website) warns of delays from parking and inter-terminal trains.
Still, the Force flows well at BWI. A reliable gateway for any traveler—even if its transport fleet could use a few hyperdrive upgrades.
