Google
Great little cafe with friendly staff. The way they asked for feedback on their servings was excellent. The sandwich I had with salmon was great! If I would say one thing missing, it would be fresh orange juice or similar option to the menu. All in all, nice place!

Google
Super friendly staff and great service. Really cute little place, overpriced like most cafés though. Ordered a cappuccino (and I remembered after that I don’t like cappuccinos) and the smoked chicken sandwich. They were playing smooth jazz and it has just a very nice atmosphere.

Google
Nice Cafe to pop in for a quick bite or drink. I'm a fan of their sandwiches - usually my go to. Prices are good for the portions and quality. Limited seating, I often do takeout. I will be back!

Google
The best sandwiches I've ever had!!! When I was taking this photo my boyfriend had already eaten his other slice. The lentil soup is so comforting as well. The owners are lovely and the atmosphere is so cozy. What a gem we stumbled upon! We will be back!

Google
Love their homemade style sandwiches and soups specially their lentil soup is must to go. Their atmosphere is classic and cozy. I like the color of walls (deep red with classic/artistic photos on it). I just wanted it a bit cleaner.

Google
Fair price for the ridiculous amount of food they give you. Everything is clean, tasty and quick. If you want a plate for an awesome sandwich (Rosbif or the smoked salmon bagel are my personal favourite); Since they changed the owners, the quality and quantity has gone up. Time will tell, but I’m loving the new Bambo Cafe.

Google
A really nice small coffee shop with a cozy and quiet atmosphere. Staff was very friendly, making me feel so welcome. I got an oat milk latte and it was probably one of the smoothest lattes I have ever had, especially for one made with oat milk. Definitely on the pricier side but worth the price!

Google
I love Azar's soup! Started out obsessively eating the lentil soup every day a few years ago. It's awesome! Now I often have half and half of whatever is going, lentil/mushroom; lentil/chicken; lentil/squash - it's all v-e-r-y tasty and healthy. If I eat her soup for a few days I feel great! Protein! All the people that have worked there are friendly and fun: Mad Betty, Gabby in the past; Kaid and Martina now...with Satoshi the new kid on the block... Recently I've had a chicken wrap and they fill the spot as well...

Yelp
Stopped by this spot to have something to warm up the throat in this chilly weather. Ordered a hot chocolate & apple danish, loved this combo. Both were so delicious. Their service was fast, and the lovely music in the background added calmness into the whole experience.

Yelp
This place is a cute quaint cafe hidden in the corners of gastown. Owned by a lovely couple who take care in their food. Wow. I got the beef sandwich and lentil soup and the flavors were sooooo good. My mouth was like wow. Make sure you visit this local owned Cafe for a bowl and slice of scrumptiousness

Yelp
Stars: 3.5 *** almost 4 **** I wouldn't say this a magnificent cafe, let's say it's a small and cozy cafe with delicious sandwiches. Nothing special but very friendly service. Located right in a corner conveniently close to Gastown (and the steam clock.) You can spot the Vancouver Lookout building from their window. They do not have too many choices but the few the have are really good. Their Smoked Salmon Bagels are really tasty. My latte was so so though. Sadly they don't have a ramp for wheelchairs or strollers, but they offered help us with our stroller.

Yelp
I was looking for a coffee shop close by just to relax and do some work after boxing and this cafe caught my eye. They have large windows with lots of natural lighting. It's a small cafe with limited seating area. There's lots of food to choose from. I got a regular americano and a bagel with cream cheese. I like that they heat up the filling so it's a little melted when I bite into it. The bagel was a little hard and not warm enough, though. Reasonable prices. Customer service is fine. I might stop by again when I'm in the area.

Yelp
While walking toward Gastown, we saw Bambô Café and we decided to stop in. Great decision! My boyfriend and I both got a breakfast sandwich and we LOVED it. We also ordered coffee and a banana shake. Fresh, high quality ingredients were used and the flavor was outstanding all around. The employees were friendly and the space was clean. This is a nice place to stop into for something quick, cheap, and yummy.

Yelp
A friend an I were looking to get a quick bite to eat near the seabus morning and we decided upon this place due to it's early Sunday morning hours. We were the only customers when arriving, but when we passed by again at noon it was much more busy. The two workers were pretty nice and brought our meals once prepared. I had the Ham and Cheese Omlette ($12) which came with a side of crispy potatoes and orange wedge. There was quite alot of ham inside the Omlette which was a pleasant surprise, and the cheese they used was pretty tasty. It was a nice quick warm meal. They also had some hot sauces and chili flakes to add to the dish on the front counter. I feel I don't have much say reviewing a cafe without trying their coffee, but reviewing on the atmosphere and food alone, I'd be happy coming here for a quick bite to eat again. I can't complain about decently priced solid meals with quick service.

Yelp
Great little finally stumbled upon. Lemon turkey sandwiches great lentil soup is great veggie sandwich was great and so is the coffee. Not the quickest place but they make everything from scratch it appears good job! Highly recommend it

Yelp
This cafe is pretty near to my place and I have ordered breakfast from here a number of times. My goto sandwich is their egg sandwich. I wouldn't say that it's one of the best but it's pretty good for the price. I can only eat half of it so one sandwich feeds my husband and myself and for $9, it's a pretty good deal. They have a good selection of sandwiches to choose from. Service is pretty good too.
google avatar

Yelp
**GLUTEN FREE REVIEW* This is a cute little cafe with really good sandwiches. I had the egg sandwich on gluten free bread, which was honestly really well done. I would love to have it again if I lived here! The owner is a very pleasant and gives good service. We had a nice chat (: Give this place a shot if you like good sandwiches!

Yelp
Me and my wife stopped in for a quick bite in between appointments and tried the roast beef focaccia bread sandwich. Delicious! Super friendly Persians (owners?) who even brought a little bowl of water to our table for my little dog. 5 stars!

Chloe L.

Yelp
We got the mango smoothie and lemon bar at 11AM and the mango smoothie tasted like nothing. Literal water with the slightest hint of mango. The smoothie was probably made with mango and ice and that's it. It cost $6.40 for a large and is not worth that much. They seem disorganized and short staffed. How do they even know what people ordered if they don't give out numbers. The only good thing was the lemon bar. The other people we came with ordered a bagel and have been waiting 30 minutes for it. Don't expect to be in a rush anywhere if you come. Update. It took 44 minutes to get a salmon sandwich actually.

Yelp
Delectable! Came back same day! They made a vegan sandwich for me w tomato pesto, roasted mushrooms, avocado , spinach and vegan mozzarella. On focaccia. Soooo good! Later I got the Bambo salad so fresh and colorful and delicious!! Very friendly service. Great vibe and Good musiic.

Yelp
I recently stopped working fulltime downtown, so I haven't been able to go to Bambo as regularly. I went on Friday while I was downtown for a Conference and I was sooo happy and satisfied. Full belly of healthy food for a reasonable price. P.S. The website has been revamped!! It looks incredible with lots of great food photos!

Yelp
This place is cute. The booth/table I sat at was a little cramped, but it was still nice. The latte I had was good, and not scalding hot on the first sip. I saw a few menu items that looked worth returning for, in particular: apple, cinnamon, cheddar bagel. Doesn't that sound amazing? I will be back for that soon. And I believe it was only $3. Not bad for lunch or breakfast or snack. The one drawback is that they have a minimum debit amount of $5. Not that they charge you extra if you're under, but that you have to spend $5. So they practically twisted my arm to get a peanut butter cookie to make the minimum. The cookie was great. It was partially dipped in chocolate- very nice touch. I'm not sure that I want everyone to know this- so only you who read the whole review will see this- but it is entirely possible that they have the best cinnamon rolls in town here. Shhhh! Don't tell everyone. I didn't see it until I was leaving or I most certainly would have gotten it. It looks like the ones I lust for from Upper Crust bakery in Austin, Texas. Now I'm sure they're not the same. But they look so close (they have kinda a muffinish bottom, like it was cooked in a muffin pan). These are not the gooey frosting cinnamon rolls. These are the flaky pastry very cinnamony good ones. I will report back when I've obtained one.

Yelp
This grunge-esque corner coffee shop/place for a quick bite in Gastown hosts a name which does not suit the vibe it gives at all in my opinion... Coffee served is Brazilian Canadian. I enjoyed it, but not the best cappuccino I've had. Brunch type of menu items consisting of sandwiches, salads, and omelets. Decor is simple. The Miles Davis wall is cool. Staff is decent, note overly nice yet not rude either.

Yelp
One of my stopover list if I am in Vancouver. Great coffee, piping hot and always fresh, served with a smile and never a long wait to get your cup and be on your way.

Yelp
Service was fantastic, food was great as well. This is a cute cafe. I think it's the owner that was working behind the counter and you could tell she was proud of it and wanted to make her customers happy (which she did!). My husband and I both had omelettes and I also had an Americano which was the best I've ever had. The espresso they use isn't bitter and very easy to drink.

Yelp
Yep, this place is definitely my favorite spot in Vancouver. And I went based on Yelp reviews, so thanks! It's a cute, little spot with a lot of character and a great, relaxing atmosphere. They have a lot of unique sandwiches that all sound amazing. For now, I went with the lemon pepper chicken with pesto. Full of flavor, but it's the focaccia that it's served on that really hits it out of the ballpark. I also couldn't pass up on the potato soup, on their recommendation. Perfect for a rainy day. Also on my must-try list: tuna melt, house salad, smoked salmon and crabmeat sandwiches. They also have a little area that's full of newspapers that you can read while waiting for your food, AND a water pitcher, which they refilled promptly. Thought that was really nice. One really tiny thing though is, it would be nice if the sandwiches came with SOMETHING, especially with the price. My sandwich and soup was over $10. Couple chips, pickles, anything. But it's absolutely not a deal-breaker, as the sandwich portions were big. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Enjoyed the Turkey/Cranberry sandwich and the large Café Mocha. Mmm...Mmm! The focaccia bread was warm and the cheese was nicely melted. But it was the mocha--wow! Made from scratch and with real whipped cream:-D Uh hunh, I'll be back!

Yelp
The cafe is located on the corner of the block. I visited this cafe twice while I was in Vancouver, and both times my experience was great. On my first visit, I tried their lemon pepper chicken + pesto sauce sandwich, and this was delectable. Absolutely fantastic. Not too heavy, not too light with delicious pesto sauce-- just what I needed on a chilly November day. Plus their focaccia bread is on point. This would definitely be a go-to sandwich if I lived in the area. Both days I got their chai latte, and this I was slightly less satisfied with. The actual latte itself is pretty stellar, but it's coated by a THICK layer of foam. I love cinnamon on my latte, but whoever is sprinkling the cinnamon has a habit of doing it asymmetrically. And by asymmetrical, I mean a mountain on one side of the cup. Whaa..? They have pretty limited seating (I think I saw 6 small tables that accommodates two each plus the bar?), which is unfortunate, since I saw many customers being forced to take their stuff to-go after scanning the cafe for any open tables. The service was okay-- they were nice, but nothing too over the top.

Yelp
Yum. The Spanish omelette was just wonderful; perfect portion with a small side of breakfast potatoes and fruit. It wasn't too greasy and had the right amount of vegetables. Muffins are scrumptious too. Very inviting atmosphere; perfect place to stop for a healthy traditional-style breakfast. FYI - You need a key to use the shared bathroom (towards the back of the building, which is shared with other businesses).
google avatar

Tracey O.

Yelp
I work near here and it's one of my go to spots for lunch. I always get the turkey cranberry sandwich and a chai latte. Both so delicious. The staff are friendly too.
google avatar

Yelp
Got these for $11+ including tax and tips. Great price and good food. The nutrition is very balanced as well, usually it's hard to find healthy food with this price, so I'm very happy with it. There's also pasta that's $5+ for small bow and $7+ for large bow. Might be too much starch, but with that price I don't even care anymore.

Yelp
I love this place. It's close to my work, and I come whenever I'm having a bad day and feel like comfort food (good soup is comfort food to me). I always get the lentil soup (because it is a-w-e-s-o-m-e) and one of their sandwiches. You can also get just half a sandwich. I would say that it tastes just like mamma used to make, except my mother never made lentil soup. But if she did, it would be this good. I also like it because I always find an empty table to sit down, even if I come at noon. I didn't enjoy the salads as much. Salads are more like a little bit of greens on the side, than something that would make you full.. Also, I find it a bit expensive. Usually my soup + have a sandwich will be around 9 dollars or more, which I think is a lot for a soup and sandwich.
google avatar

Yelp
Just had a wonderful homemade omelet there and great cappuccino..other popular places like Jam had huge lines but this place is very quaint and quiet...would highly recommend if you want to get in and not spend all day....
google avatar

Tarkan S.

Yelp
Food is fresh and tastes great. The sandwiches are huge and don't shy away from all the ingredients. Many drink options and all taste great. There aren't that many plugs if you're looking to sit and work here for a while but otherwise a great place.

Yelp
Stopped in and tried the Lemon Pepper Chicken Breast sandwich and my mouth is still watering just thinking about it now.

Charlotte H.

Yelp
I had an amazing experience with Bambo Café. Kaylee and Azi went above and beyond to help me deliver a breakfast on behalf of my company. The location for delivery was further than we originally thought but they were very accommodating throughout the process. As someone unfamiliar with Vancouver it was tricky to find a café with great food that would deliver so this was a godsend. I highly recommend Bambo Café and look forward to visiting in person the next time I am in town!

Martina M.

Yelp
Enjoying my afternoon The owner is really nice and welcoming And they serve warm croissant! Got 1 free coffee from checking-in on yelp :)

Yelp
This place was super yummy! The sandwiches were delicious and bigger than I was expecting. We tried the turkey and cranberry, and the roast beef. The chicken rice soup was very good. Food was hot and fresh. They even have pastries as well as coffees.
google avatar

Yelp
Bambo is a great spot in Gastown to get lunch or coffee. Their banana and mango smoothies are really good! Everything is made fresh with good ingredients. It's home-style cooking. The menu is mostly sandwiches, soup, salads and baked goods. Cute corner cafe. Gets busy right around 12. Owner is a very nice woman who puts in a lot of care in her food and service.
google avatar

Luke B.

Yelp
I had lunch at Bambo today, because I read the reviews listed here on yelp. I must say it was definitely worth the visit. I had a soup and sandwich special. The soup was a broccoli and was very tasty. The sandwich was turkey and cranberry on a panini, which was warmed up and very fresh. It was a great lunch spot and not too busy. I will return, because the coffee and cookies both looked good.
google avatar

Paulina B.

Yelp
5 stars for their house blend coffee. I've tried many highlighted on Yelp coffee houses on our Vancouver trip, but just a sip here made me wonder.... about so many beautiful things. Simple interior. Nothing too special. Blends well with industrial Gastown vibe. They also offers basic breakfast menu with some omelettes. Be prepared for a tour of this city's interior basement architecture on a long hike to their washroom, through the back doors and corridors, steps and turns.
google avatar

Nina S.

Yelp
Great sandwiches that are huge. I usually get them to go for a beach or pool day in the summer since their sandwiches beat subway anytime and the focaccia bread won't break apart... They also have great vegetarian options... Value 3/5 Atmosphere 3/5 Service 4/5 Quality 3.5/5 13.5/20

Yelp
We went here after our Gastown walking tour. It was raining all morning, so we came here after seeing that there were pretty good reviews on Yelp. First of all, the people here are really NICE. They were very patient as we stood in line being indecisive trying to figure out what to order. We came here at around 1:30 pm on a Saturday and it was pretty empty, though. I ordered the lemon pepper chicken with pesto sandwich and my bf ordered the smoked salmon. My sandwich was well-made and tasted pretty good. I also had a mocha which tasted fine. Overall, there's nothing negative I can say about this place. The sandwiches were decent and the people working there were very friendly. However, nothing really stood out to me about this place. We spent most of the time looking at the window and commenting on how everyone in Vancouver doesn't use an umbrella when it rains. If you want a nice and dependable cafe, this would be a great place to go. Pros: friendly staff, pretty good sandwiches, great location. Cons: nothing stood out, walk to bathroom takes about 5 minutes.

Yelp
My dad and i were having lunch here. We ordered roasted beef sandwich with small lentil soup. And bambo salad with small lentil soup. The food was made after the order was taken so it was very fresh. The lentil soup was really good. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Over the years of wandering this little stretch of Cordova for my punk/vintage/indie clothing fix, I've visited Bambo many times for coffee and general shopping refreshment. I love the atmosphere - big windows for people watching, high ceilings, and just enough colour and art to give it a funky vibe. This is no hipster cafe either - the staff are also incredibly nice. Bambo has a big menu of the yummy-sounding options, which for a cafe is a rare and precious thing. Because of regulations about food prep and cooking and venting and so on, making food fresh on the premises can be a complicated undertaking. But here, they have a display case full of salads and pastries, several daily soups, and a whole list of sandwiches. Unfortunately, the roast beef sandwich I ordered was only so-so. Though warm from the bread-toasty-thing, it was a little skimpy on fillings, and the bread (more properly a focaccia bun) just seemed too light to be really satisfying and hearty. (However, they do offer the option of adding on a soup or salad for $2 when you order, so I kind of regretted not taking advantage of that.) I recommend Bambo more for coffee and snacks and a leisurely read of the day's papers than as a place to get a really hearty lunch.

Yelp
My Girlfriend and I, during our gastown walk, checked in on the reviews on the iphone and were impressed enough to attend this for a brunch since they served all day breakfast. The atmosphere was something that you would expect with character for the area, however, not suitable for large groups. The décor is busy, however, gives a down to earth Commercial drive feel. I ordered the scrambled eggs with avocado and tomato which was beautifully plated, nicer than most breakfast places and a healthier gluten free option which is a plus. The only downfall is that it was over salted, it was a sodium suicide. I finished it none the less considering a replacement would take long to be served, however, not impressed. On the flip side, I lost 2 lbs eating this since the salt absorbed most of the water. On the plus side they have gluten free bread, one of the first few breakfast places in the Gastown area that actually have gluten free bread. Because of this, they earned a fair rating. I will be back next time as I heard the tuna melt is a must and on gluten free bread...yes please.

Yelp
came here this afternoon for a late breakfast. we saw too late that breakfast is served ALL DAY on weekends. we shared the veggie and the egg sandwich. they were huge at fair prices ($7.25 & $6.75) and very delicious and filling. it's a very cute little gastown place. i wanna come back to try one of the many vegetarian omeletts.

Yelp
Mmmmm. Good stuff. So many choices for sandwiches! I had the fresh (real too!) crabmeat w/ avocado and cheese on foccacia. Good size, all the fixins nice n fresh, warm pressed, tasty, all around awesome. There are several other intriguing combinations on their menu that I would like to try, as well. LOVE love love the banana milkshakes. Holy crap, you HAVE to have one. Just trust me on this. Reasonable prices and a friendly, cozy atmosphere. Definitely will be visiting again soon!

Yelp
I used to frequent Bambo's ten years ago, when I worked at a punk rock t-shirt shop across from the Cambie. I hadn't been back until today, when I strolled in at lunchtime. The menu is exactly the same, which suits me just fine, as it was great back then! I was hopeful that the quality would be just as good, and it was! Delicious focaccia sandwiches are the stars here, and each variety that I have tried has been excellent. Today I had the smoked salmon with herbs and mascarpone - it came with thin slices of tomato and cucumber (which I do not normally like on my sandwiches) and was light and refreshing while having a great punch of flavour. The mascarpone was a really nice change from cream cheese! My colleague had the crab melt, made with real crab meat (!) cheddar and avocado, and it too was delicious. The crab salad was a tad acidic and not laden down with mayo - a really nice change from a typical crab or tuna salad. A great, cute little place for a quick lunch. I am only giving 4 out of 5 because I have only ever tried their sandwiches, but I hope to be back to try much more! :)

Yelp
A wonderful place right outside my place in Gastown. I usually have the Jegg, which is a open faced omelet , with tomatoe and avocado slices. Its simple, and a great price. The place is warm, the service is good. One issue, make sure you ask them to butter your toast before it arrive, the butter is always really cold and its hard to butter your toast with it. Maybe a small detail for some, but i like my toast buttered and delicious.

Yelp
Love the character, design and location of this place. It has a talented cheff that makes great food, the way momma use to cook.

Yelp
Is it just me but I always think Bambi or Bamboo...but i digress. Their chicken sandwich is their signature sandwich, recommended. And they have Mighty Leaf tea, yay. a few seats, cozy environment. friendly owner. Offer catering to DT only.

Yelp
I'm usually a big fan of this place....... and last time I saw that they served Matcha green tea lattes and I'm always looking for a coffee alternative... So after a really filling lunch, I wanted to get a match fix and walked in to a pretty busy Bambo on a Sunday afternoon. To my surprise, matcha powder was not used... instead the Tazo green tea syrup, similar to the ones sold at Starbucks for Chai Lattes. I was sadly disappointed but hope that I would be proven wrong.... nope that was not the case. Since it was syrup, it was already sweetened - BLAH. There was quite a lineup after me, so the drink prepared was sloppy, and although not a uber fancy coffee shop, the foam was inconsistent and overflowing. ... no more matcha here for me. stick with the food.... it's a complete 180.
google avatar

Bill K.

Yelp
Gotta love this place great staff awesome owners and the best lemon chicken sandwich you will ever have. Not to mention an amazing Americano If your close by don't waste your time going to Starbucks try out the hidden gem.
google avatar

Cara P.

Yelp
One of my all time favourite sandwich places in Vancouver. The lemon chicken sandwich is amazing, as are the rest. Fresh focaccia, rgrat ingredients, fresh made, hot sandwiches... and the best lentil soup... Best quick, sandwich lunch in Gastown. Cafe atmosphere, no scene, very friendly, fast, warm, attentive... one of my faves. If I am in Gastown, I will go here!

Yelp
We came on a Saturday morning, and the shop was somewhat full. There's not much seating, but it's nice and cozy. I ordered the eggplant omelet which had pesto and tomatoes in it too, and it was really good. I've never had an omelet with eggplant in it before, and it was better than I thought it would be. When I ordered it, I was afraid that the eggplant wouldn't be thoroughly cooked, but I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor and the taste of the entire omelet. It was great. The egg was a bit overlooked I think, and it was smaller than I thought it would be. The omelet, potatoes, and toast totaled $11.24 post-tax. It was also quite watery, probably from the eggplant and/or the tomatoes. The potatoes were good too, although a bit more oily than I would have liked. The toast was good; they didn't slather butter on title before serving it, so that was good. Perfectly toasted. Our food took a bit long to come out as well. If I lived here, I may come here occasionally but not too often because I think I can find more filling meals for the price, but it's not a bad place. I give this place 3.5 stars!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been here a couple times for meetings over coffee and it has worked well. There seems to always be seats available, probably because the seating in here is old, and needs to be freshened up and updated. With the weird / ratchet seating out of the way this cafe is quite good. They have a lot of good food options, breakfast bagels, sammiches, soups and more. As well as all the coffee options you'd normally get. They're coffee doesn't compare to revolver or Timbertrain both within a blocks distance but this place is when you want a guaranteed place to sit for a meeting, or if you want food as the food options here are much better than revolver / timbertrain. I used their 50% breakfast bagel or wrap Yelp coupon which is a great bonus. I got a cream cheese bagel and a cappuccino and the lady said the coupon is only for the #4 or 5 bagel option but used the 50% on the cream cheese one for me anyway which was very pleasant of her. Great little spot on the corner of Cordova / Cambie. Right across from Versace ! Haha! Atmosphere in here is older which has its own charm as well. Check it out.
