We happen to Google and found this place near Morro Rock. We were looking to have Asian food. You can't go wrong with Chinese food! The food came out very quick and fast. It tasted delicious! Everyone enjoyed it. Only 2 things are that this place will bring out food only, but not refill your water. I think you're supposed to refill it yourself since there are extra cups by the water/drink area?..not sure because they didn't explain how it works. 2nd is that their portions are not as big as I expected, but I guess it's because they're a smaller shop, but it was enough for everyone to get a taste. Overall, decent price and good food. Would recommend.

It was better 2 years ago on my first visit, now the food is okay, if you like brown rice, there's not an option. On my first visit, I had to order and pay first and then get seated, now you sit and wait to be attended. The attendant was not so friendly this time and there was a little fly on the wall.

AVOID...Unbelievably bad food and overpriced! I should have been tipped off by the fact that it was completely empty at 12:45 on a Saturday! The server was not very polite when I walked in but I ordered the General Tzo's chicken, paid $3 extra for the stir fried rice side, and got a soft drink. The total came to over $30! I was stunned but assumed the servings would be large. The side dish of rice was less than a cup (seemed like it was just white rice with some soy sauce added... not worth $3!) but worst of all, the chicken was very overcooked and each piece I ate had hard bits of grizzle and cartilage! The soft drink also tasted like the machine had not been cleaned lately. When I mentioned the problem with the food, the server only offered to replace it with something else...as if I would trust another dish from this place! If they can't get a chicken dish right, I don't trust them for anything else. When I asked for a refund since I barely ate anything, he refused and said that he was just an employee. He didn't even offer to get a manager to approve it. I left all the food there and called my credit card company to reverse the charge. Definitely a waste of time and money!

Okay so if you are reading the comments and wondering whether not these reviews are too exaggerated or not true let me tell you, THEY ARE NOT. First our food came and we noticed that the vegetables were wayyyy to undercooked and raw even in some places, potstickers where not fully cooked and had a wierd taste too them. We got the Kung pao chicken and a plate of chowmein, let me tell you they had no taste to them at all mind you as a POC I KNOW FLAVOR AND SPICE this had neither. We also got garlicky string bean which was weirdly gelantanous and flavorless had no garlic flavor what so ever. Mind you we got their “BEST SELLER” 🫥 ps: never left a review on anything but this was that bad a true disappointment. Also when we spoke to the people in charge they said “thats how the food should be”😟 like be for real. OVERALL: DONT EAT HERE unless you want flavorless food that’s undercooked.

We will definitely return next time we come to town. The food we ordered was amazing . The egg flower soup was the best I’ve ever had .

Google
Ordered the bbq pork. Absolutely awful dish. The pork was dry and flavorless. The "bbq" sauce was just sugar and gelatin. Didn't try their other dishes but I hope they're better than the pork.

This is a really neat place on main Street. There is a little serving robot which I've never seen before that I enjoyed watching and listening to. The menu is pretty straightforward and the food is as expected. Plenty of inside seating and a large frozen refrigerator of mochi for dessert. I love the fried wontons that have a cream cheese like filling. And their pork fried rice is really good. I had the vegetable chow mein which seemed to only have broccoli and cabbage. It was tasty but on the oily side for me. There's a bar code at each table so you can order and pay without a staff member taking your order, if that's what you prefer.

Google
I came here for lunch. I would say that the food was good value, but not great. It wasn't very busy but the one server did a good job of keeping up with help of a rather cute robot. However, I suspect the robot slowed her down rather than helping! Overall I can see that this would be a good stop for a quick and satisfying meal and there seemed to be several regulars there. Worth going there, especially if you have kids to see the robot!

Yelp
Great Chinese food! Very accommodating of dietary needs. Nice to eat there or take out.

Yelp
When we visit Morro Bay this is a favorite restaurant. The food is excellent! The service is very good and the dining room is large and bright with a huge skylight. Must try!

Darla A.

Yelp
Spacious clean dining area. Friendly service. Outstanding food. Chicken Egg Foo young so delicious. Garlic green beans great snap and tasty in an amazing garlic sauce. Crisp egg rolls with a nice delicate filling. Excellent find here in Morro Bay. We will return

Yelp
Their shrimp fried rice is good. Better than golden gong at least. I know they can do better but I feel like the clientele maybe impacts the dishes lol. I ordered the shrimp fried rice, chicken wings, beef noodle, and hot and sour soup. They're missing out on the chance to sell salt n pepper chicken wings, I know it'd be a hit. I expected the beef noodle soup to be like the braised beef noodle but it was kind of like stir fry in soup form. Hot and sour soup was ok with the white pepper added. Uncle, let me in the kitchen I need some Chinese food Otherwise loved I could order from my phone. Waiter was nice.

Yelp
I visited Bamboo Bamboo recently and was disappointed with my experience. The food lacked the authentic flavors I expected, especially considering the positive reviews I've read. The General Tso's chicken was too sweet and not spicy at all. It was just Orange chicken with a sauce. Additionally, the service was slow, and the server seemed disinterested. It's a shame because the area and location are nice, but the experience didn't meet my expectations. The lemon chicken was tasteless. It seem to me they took frozen chicken, microwaved it, put it on a plate, and added the sauce and a slice of lemon. Both sauce and chicken were bland. The chowmain was overcooked, sticky, and without flavor. I feel Panda Express has better taste and freshness and is less expensive. I left full because I was hungry, but I was not satisfied.

Rebecca X.

Yelp
It's pretty decent for what you can get in the area. It's basically a self service restaurant but the food will come out hot and fast. There's some funny panda stuff that does not really give the best of ambiances but staff is super friendly and made it all worth it. Don't expect much, but leave pleasantly surprised.

Yelp
I tried this place the other night and it was good, but not fabulous! The prices were pretty high for the amount of food and I ordered an order of the boneless BBQ spareribs and they came sauced with like a sweet and sour sauce or something. It's a great little restaurant, but unfortunately, they economy and cost of goods is probably going to eat them up if they don't make a few changes. Check the out and support them! The Mongolian beef I ordered was excellent! And the service was decent!

Roselia G.

Yelp
This is basically a DIY restaurant. You seat yourself, order, pay and tip with your phone by scanning the QR code at each table. The server then brings your food pretty quickly. It saves so much time this way. Oh there's a Yelp check in deal for a free order of egg roles. You will need to show that to the server, but you don't add it to your order since it's free. Everything was really good. I definitely recommend.

Yelp
We sat down at a table, and I saw a QR code. Apparently you can order on your phone, and they will deliver to your table. Thankfully I was offered a real menu. We had the broccoli with garlic, cashew chicken with a side of noodles, and beef fried rice. The broccoli was good, but it could have used more garlic. The cashews were crunchy, not soggy. Overall the food was solid, but nothing spectacular. I was a little confused. The restaurant was called Bamboo Bamboo, but the back wall said Panda Panda. As I recall, my CC statement said Panda Panda. But what I remember most was how quiet it was in the restaurant. There were two other occupied tables. The TV was on, but nothing was hooked up to the HDMI port. It was extremely quiet. I felt like I was having dinner in a library!

Yelp
Ordered on Door Dash. We are new to the area and got in and had to put our daughter down to sleep so we hopped on door dash and saw this place and Chinese sounded delicious, so we took a chance. Well, It was delicious! And I absolutely loved the type of containers they used, that the rice was in a separate container and that it came in a reusable bag! My only complaint, they gave us 1 fork and 1 spoon. (Now, maybe that's on me, since I know you have to ask for reusable stuff now and maybe I didn't see it as an option. But there has to be a way to remind others or even just throw in a couple more to be safe?! ) We ordered the orange chicken, beef and broccoli and chicken chow mein, oh and egg rolls. Everything was delicious and had a great flavor. A good suggestion!

Yelp
Today we are in restaurant in Morro Bay. Great service as always. Our favorite waiter and cook were on shirt

Louie M.

Yelp
Ordered pickup. Service quick and friendly, as she was alone and running around doing all front of the house. Food was hot and tasty. Ordered General Tao's chicken and steamed rice. Chicken was great as you got to the end of serving as it cooled it got tough and dry. I suspect some of the chicken was par cooked and refired for service. Ate the whole thing as I was starving tho:) Ambiance was ok a big open room didn't notice much decor as I just picked up.

Drake M.

Yelp
Food was greasy, the vegetables were over cooked, and the taste wasn't there. Ordered the shrimp with walnuts, cashew chicken ( no cashews), and eggplant (swimming in oil, no sauce nasty). Expensive and the place is uninviting and empty! That should have told me something. The guy is beyond rude and seems like he hates working there. Not many choices in this small town and they are milking it. The chow mein was rubbery and all clumped together. If you are on vacation you are better off ordering fast food than eating here.

Billy D.

Yelp
Well now this was an amazing find in Morro Bay. We door dashed an order from Bamboo Bamboo. The chow mein, orange chicken, and snow pea beef were off the charts good. They have these things called soup dumplings. They are a soft dough filled with pork and a splash of soup broth. Holy cow were they good. Just small enough to just pop in your mouth. The flavors are so well blended. Personally it would be worth a trip to Morro Bay. We shall return.

Marcy A.

Yelp
Service was great! Highly recommend. Had just the standard dinner order and everything was delicious.

Whitney W.

Yelp
My first visit, and it was just ok. Compared to other local Chinese options, the best I've had, though. Since it was my first visit, I ordered my favorite chicken fried rice. It was prepared quickly to go. The portion size was large, and worth the price. The rice itself was tasty and well seasoned with large chunks of white meat chicken. The experience was hampered by the presence of bean sprouts in the dish. Who puts bean sprouts in rice? I had to fish them out, one at a time. I've also never understood peas & carrots in rice; if the chicken and rice seasonings are good, veggies just get in the way; that seems very common though so not necessarily a ding on this place. I don't know if I could have special ordered the rice without the offending bean sprouts. I may stop by again and see if that's possible.

Yelp
We've been wanting to try Bamboo Bamboo ever since they opened! Finally! The day arrived! We had one order of egg rolls. They were similar to the consistency of the Trader Joe versions. They were OK. 2nd item was Pork Fried Rice. It was good, but a little greasy. 3rd item was Mongolian Beef with white rice. I've had really good MB before and have been searching for a redo. This was NOT it. Lots of onion, too many. Beef tasted low quality and sliced too thick! 4th item was Orange Chicken and it was great! Our favorite of all of the dishes. My overall were 4 stars because this is the only TRADITIONAL Chinese Restaurant Morro Bay has to offer. It beats the commercialized Panda Express in SLO!!!!! Most definitely! We had it for leftovers tonight so I had 2 nights to think about my review. We will return to Bamboo. Our order was To Go so I cannot comment on the atmosphere of the place.

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
New Years Eve pick up food for friends. Anything deep fried ( Orange chicken, Walnut Shrimp)tasted like old oil. The duck sauce came in little packets! Anything that had fresh vegetables were definitely not fresh. I went here because when they opened I marveled at the awesome to-go bags and how fresh the food tasted. What a difference this time. No one at tonight's meal finished their plate. I am beyond embarrassed I made this suggestion. Overall Grade: D-/F

Liza H.

Yelp
This was our second time here. Off peak. We ordered hot and sour soup, Sechzwan chicken, tofu and eggplant. The service was good throughout though we spotted our own take out box. The sweet and sour soup was missing something. The chicken was too salty, small pieces over done. The fried tofu and eggplant was hot as a pistol from the kitchen and the best of the dishes. Quantity was generous. Not sure I would come back.

Pete F.

Yelp
Bamboo Bamboo? Panda Panda? Who knows. Always appreciate the odd tones when calling in an order. Massage parlor next door, family biz?

Janie V.

Yelp
First time at this restaurant and will be the last... I ordered Szechuan chicken over chow main noodles..my husband ordered salt and pepper shrimp over chow main noodles..the waiter brought us a plate of noodles no veggies just plain noodles...my Szechuan chicken tasted like dish soap my husbands shrimp was so overcooked ... I've never knew shrimp legs could be so tender compared to the shrimp...save your money and go to panda ... you're welcome

Angel L.

Yelp
Food was great, but the guy at the front desk was rude and not helpful at all. (DEFINITELY LACKING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!)

Love Q.

Yelp
I wish I had better photos because the food was SO GOOD! It's usually hit or miss trying new places out of town but Bamboo Bamboo did not disappoint! A few people eating in but lots of activity for take out. They will bring you a menu but you order via the QR code on the table. Choose your items, enter your table # and payment and they bring it out to you. This was our second visit and will definitely become a regular pit stop when we're in town to try more items! Completely satisfied the craving for something different.

Sarah J.

Yelp
When we have a hankering for Asian food, Bamboo Bamboo is the go-to choice here at home in Morro Bay! They have all the classics and greatly sized portions. We don't eat here as much our bellies would like only because the prices are a little pricey. We haven't dined here yet because we usually love to take our order to go, but the ambiance looks nice inside. I see a good amount of people dining in when I go to pick up food. The service is also great, they always answer the phone and are really quick and efficient.

Janet T.

Yelp
I stopped in to pick up dinner to go Monday evening, I ordered cashew chicken & it wasn't like any i have ever had before. it had both pieces of deep-fried chicken & thinly sliced chicken breast. The sauce didn't have much flavor & the only other ingredient I could identify was chunks of zucchini. I would not recommend

Chipper C.

Yelp
I don't know why, but I wanted Chinese food and I wanted to give bamboo bamboo another chance. Mistake. I ordered through DoorDash. That's the first star, they were really quick to deliver and the food was hot. However, the first dish I tried was the, shrimp, walnut dish. Wow, horrible. The batter was so thick, and there was hardly any glaze, or walnuts. And the walnuts that were there were coded with sugar that had not caramelized like it was supposed to. I couldn't even finish it. That was the most expensive item in my order and I'm very disappointed. I did eat the potstickers, they were pretty good, but there was no potsticker sauce to dip them in. I want to say that I already knew that but I hope they had changed their practice between today and the last time I ate there. I also ordered chicken chow mein. Normally, I order this with no veggies, but they have it set so that I can't have special orders on DoorDash. And finally, the chicken cashew. Too many bell peppers. They took over the dish. The rice that came with was pretty good. I guess that's the second star. I just can't wait for another Chinese place to come to Morro Bay so that I can have decent Chinese food again.

Kristin M.

Yelp
I just tried Bamboo Bamboo for the first time since moving to Morro. They were a solid Chinese Restaurant! They were fast and friendly. The vegetables were perfectly cooked with tasty sauces and the orange chicken was good too. The moo shu pork was my favorite. They had good sized portions too. I will definitely be back

Tomimoto Z.

Yelp
Bamboo Bamboo Chinese Restaurant in Morro Bay! My favorite food spot. Nice service! Delicious food! Friendly staff! I always go here !

John G.

Yelp
For all intents and purpose, this is the best Chinese restaurant in the area. It's definitely better than Panda Express. The Egg Foo Young was perhaps the best dishes we tried. Everything else was just ok.

Chris A.

Yelp
Very fresh. Ordered the orange chicken lemon chicken and beef broccoli. Everything was great!

Dawn L.

Yelp
I'm so excited to have found Panda Panda in Morro Bay! The food is so delicious and the service was excellent. We ordered for take out last night and ordered thru the Yelp app. Food was ready and waiting for us by the time we arrived to pick up about 15 minutes later. Service was super friendly and everything was so so good. I finally got the Chinese food I have been craving and I'm so thrilled! I can't wait to come back again and try more of the menu items in the future. We ordered the fried won tons to start. Now I have had this dish at just about every place in CA but I have never had an order that completely knocked my socks off with delicious flavors. I never knew you could pack so much yummy flavor into a small bite of cream cheese before. Well this definitely got my mouth excited about the rest of the meal, and we were not disappointed at all! Boyfriend and I split the chicken fried rice and the beef chow mein for sides. There was such a great portion of both that we will be having more for lunch today. These were flavorful, packed with so much meat and the meats were tender, juicy and fresh. Veggies included were fresh and crunchy not mushy at all. Really great. I got the cashew chicken. There was so much tender delicious meat in there and the sauce was delicate and flavorful. The veggies had a great delicious crunch and there were plenty of cashews so you know that the dish was cashew chicken, not like some other places that leave you wondering.. There was plenty to share and we will be having our extras for lunch today. So satisfying. Boyfriend got the sweet and sour shrimp. The shrimp was cooked to perfection. Not overly breaded but still crispy and the sauce was delicious and tangy perfection. The veggie to meat ratio was really good and still crisp and crunchy, just how we like it. Overall we were extremely pleased with the quality of the food and we will be coming back again to try more of the dishes they have available. Bottom line: We look forward to many happy years of eating this food! This will become a date night regular option for us.

Whitney L.

Yelp
Always had a great experience when eating here. The food is delicious and service is always top notch. Restaurant is clean. Glad they opened another location closer to us in SLO too now!

P T.

Yelp
The service is excellent, the food, not so much. I had the kung pao chicken, it was okay, kind of. I judge Chinese restaurants by their potstickers and these are horrible. Absolutely no flavor other than pork. No garlic, ginger, any spices whatsoever. Just pork stuffed into a wonton. And served without any dipping sauce. Very disappointing. The egg roll! Yuck! Soggy cabbage and that's all I tasted. No tea served which I consider a major letdown. The dining room has absolutely no ambience. Needless to say I won't be back.

John M.

Yelp
Ordered from here for the first time with high optimism based on the 3.9 stars. Solidly disappointed. The good. Easy to order and quick prep. Place was clean and staff was friendly. The not so good. Ordered Spicy lamb and Mongolian Beef. At least two completely full sliced onions in each entree with a very minimal amount of actual meat. The remaining order of white rice and my shu chicken were mediocre. Based upon the area and lack of choices...you might be out of luck if you're looking for more than really Basic non flavorful Chinese. Would not recommend unless you were desperate.

Norma G.

Yelp
Visited for the first time since we're here on vacation. Sadly, it left much to be desired. We ate in the restaurant and the service was minimal. The gentleman didn't really explain the lunch specials, and when we asked for chowmein instead of rice we were told it wasn't included in the special. Otherwise, the establishment was clean and atmosphere was nice and quiet.

Teresa B.

Yelp
I'm a big lover of Chinese food so this experience is a big disappointment! The hot and sour soup and rice were good but not the kung pao beef. Sorry to say, the service lacks quality; I asked for no peanuts on the Kung Pao and was served with peanuts and I was the only person in the restaurant so excellent service could have been available; yet, nobody checked on me and I had to call out to get assistance. The meat was like rubber so I left it. I hate to wasting food or I would have left everything behind. P.S. kung is served w crushed peppers instead of whole peppers limiting options.

Angela M.

Yelp
We usually frequent this place and are loyal regulars, but today the male at the register was extremely rude and we won't be returning. We walked in at 8pm and they close at 9pm daily. We walked in and there were 3 tables with people at them, he says we close in 30 minutes. So we say you always close at 9 and he says we are slow and closing in 30 minutes. He knows we are frequent customers since they have opened and were known as "Panda Panda", there food never takes long to cook and we order quickly. His customer service at that moment was rude and we will not be returning! That is not how you treat loyal customers for a mediocre business that seems to struggle to get patrons in Morro Bay.

Louise A.

Yelp
Ordered chicken egg foo young. Noodle dish and returned it for the egg foo young I ordered. He refused and told me what they gave me was!...As if an Italian restaurant gave you salad instead of pasta and you returned it for pasta and was told that pasta is salad!!! That's me... at another restaurant eating what I ordered

Eric C.

Yelp
Wow...! Stop...! Do not waste your money! Bad everything (food/service/flavor/value). Morro bay needs a good Chinese food location... Bamboo Bamboo is not this location.

Alekona D.

Yelp
Yummy take out for Morro Bay. Some of our favs ... eggplant + tofu so delish and pork fried rice. The service is fast and friendly nice to have something open a little later in town

John T.

Yelp
This was our family's fourth visit to Bamboo Bamboo and, while we enjoyed the service and ambiance, we noticed that the quality of the food has diminished. Some examples: 1. There was too much breading on the honey shrimp which overpowered the taste of the shrimp; 2. The orange chicken also seemed overly breaded with small pieces of chicken; 3. The rice was lukewarm and seemed to lack spice although somewhat tasty. 4. We both missed seeing 'John' our previous server who always remembered us and greeted us warmly. On the plus side, the restaurant was very clean and we loved the robot who brought out our food.

Liana R.

Yelp
Food was delicious ordered orange chicken (came with a side of white rice, fried rice, gyoza and a side of white ri

Moparskippy1 ..

Yelp
I do not mind spending money on food. But if you're gonna charge the kind of money you do give me some food I ordered Chicken chowmain hardly any chicken. My wife ordered vegetable chow main Hardly any vegetables Mostly all noodles we will not be back

Frank H.

Yelp
We ate here this week. The male waiter that helped us was bothered by ANY interaction that we had with him. Sorry assed service. Not sure why but my wife insisted on tipping decent. Food we had was orange chicken, it was not too bad, but it was not very good either 2/5. Sweet and sour pork arrive at the table room temperature (and this place is cold inside) two scrawny chunks of pineapple, three paper thin slices of carrot and a few onions, such a cheap ass way to serve this dish 1/5. Walnut shrimp, around $22 or so, only walnut shrimp I have ever seen with small shrimp breaded into a huge breaded shrimp thing. Less than one walnut for the whole fucking dish, 0/5. First time in my life that this dish was literally not fit to eat. Left it on table. Feral dumpster cats probably turn it down. Curry lamb was served hot had a lot of tender lamb and onion, spiced well, 4/5. Do not recommend, will not return. No good service, no good food.

Anonymous A.

Yelp
Being pregnant, I have food intolerances and aversions. Their wonton soup with rice is one of the few meals that I could eat with no issues. Plus, it's healthy! Staff are friendly and accommodating of my requests. I highly recommend!

Evie M.

Yelp
Delicious and very fun! I really like Chinese 'lunch specials' and I had the chicken vegetable which comes with fried rice (or chow mein) and an egg roll. I didn't think until afterwards that it didn't come with a soup and I could have ordered the Won Ton soup which has gotten great reviews. Rob had the eggplant tofu entree and a side of fried rice which was also very tasty. We loved the robot delivery service with the sweet squeaky voice. So fun! Bamboo Bamboo is a great addition to the food choices in Morro Bay.

Cindy Rollins S.

Yelp
We had a quick dinner after seeing a show and it was delicious! The Mongolian Beef was especially tasty, and my teen loved the chow mein. We ordered a set meal and this was definitely a money saver. Would definitely eat here again. The restaurant is pretty simple, which worked well for us. Casual ambiance. Quick service.

Deric n.

Yelp
Everything. Great soup. Great Kung pao. Clean. Fast service. Clean restroom. Keep up the good work over there. We will definitely be back

Steven M.

Yelp
Super nice cashier, Jojo. My kids loved Bella, the server robot. It has a personality too.
