I really enjoyed my experience here! The tasted high quality and the portions were HUGE. The price was reasonable and it was clear the staff was working extremely hard to get through a dinner rush. I had the orange chicken which was excellent, I enjoyed it more than panda's orange chicken. The teriyaki chicken was also very good. The egg rolls were fresh and flavorful. I did half chow mein and rice, and they were both excellent. I would recommend this restaurant for someone looking for a fast casual chinese take out spot in town. I will be coming back here. Great food, great vibe, all for a great price!

Google
THE MOST DISGUSTING PLACE I EVER EATEN. Food was POOR QUALITY, most likely weeks old. The service was not good as well, workers are unprofessional and rude. They do anything for a quick pay. I suggest health department to go there ASAP! I prefer PANDA EXPRESS instead of this. YUCK! If I can I give 0 stars I would!

Google
I have heard so many things about this place. I decided to give it a try since I am new to the area. I tried my best to like it but it was difficult. I agree with some of the reviews they serve you a lot for the price. However, I got a really bad stomachache after eating part of my meal. Also, the food has no flavor and it makes it difficult to eat. Customer service was great but the food wasn’t and my stomachache gave me problems at night, that’s the reason for my two star.

Google

Google
The workers here are always very nice! The chow mein is amazing, and the prices you can’t ever beat! Very affordable.

Google
Polite attendants, quick service, and delicious meals. Food and drinks, paying less than 30 for two was more than pocket friendly.

Google
Our go to! For buttered shrimp bowl! We have a 12 y.o autistic super picky eater son! And this is the ONLY place he eats. His go to is like me, either oj chicken or butter shrimp bowl. I find the food to have a nice flavor! Ooh & they have a house special chicken its VERzy tasteful! Compared to other spots, that as the cooker, in our home, i know when meat, chicken, shrimp are nit refrigerated correctly, & have a very fowl, blood taste to it! Not this place! Their meats always taste fresh! Our go to Great local Spot! That serves the customer their moneys worth!

Google

Yelp
When you pull up their windows are covered with their advertising and you can't really see inside. Please don't let that stop you though, the smells that smack you in the face the moment you open the door is insane. They were putting out fresh food as we were walking in and it looked very appetizing. We went for my husband and I had no plans on getting anything, but the smells got me. The service was amazing and the restaurant was immaculate. I got the orange chicken, beef and broccoli and the mushroom chicken. The cuts of meat were huge and just covered in sauce, husband got black pepper beef, BBQ chicken, and the kung Pao chicken. He said it was delicious and enjoyed all of it. Now the chow mein noodles are thicker than I like but the flavor was nice. It was so much food that we will have dinner, lunch and dinner again for the next day. Best fast food Chinese food I've had recently. When we are in the area we will definitely go back. It was so good I forgot to take pictures of the food, next time for sure.

Yelp
Tried Bamboo cafe for the first time and got a 1 item combo. Although I liked the flavor of the orange chicken, the texture of the chicken was inconsistent. Some pieces were chewy and some though. I did like their chow mein and rice. The service was fast and friendly and the portion was a decent size.

Yelp
If you're looking for a spot with the friendliest customer service where you're treated like family, this is the place to go! They offer a huge selection of dishes, and everything is incredibly fresh. Plus, they pack your plate generously! I ordered the BBQ pork, shrimp with vegetables, and beef with green beans--each dish was flavorful and perfectly cooked. My husband got the BBQ pork, black pepper beef, and garlic chicken. We couldn't help but share bites from each other's plates because everything was so good! I'm already eyeing the wings for next time since they looked absolutely scrumptious. They even have soup to complete your meal! With savory, satisfying food, great prices, and large portions, you definitely won't regret stopping by. Best of all, if you can't make it in person, they're available on Uber Eats and DoorDash. Delicious food brought straight to your door--what more could you ask for? Highly recommend!

Yelp
Worst Chinese food I've ever had. Old Oil taste, Chow Mein tasted like fish and noodles were doughy! Every single piece of chicken in Kung Pao & Orange Chicken was wobbly, greasy, grissely and tendons! More celery and dried hot peppers in Kung Pao than chicken! Like a whole stalk of celery! Horrible...Horrible...Horrible food! I've never written a review on here before, but this experience warranted for an honest review to warn people!

Yelp
Always very fast and super friendly staff. Food is great and made fresh to order like the potstickers or spring rolls. It's always busy, so that's how you know it's really good.
google avatar

Faith M.

Yelp
Super bland food, Greasy ass eggrolls cheap for a reason do not come here bro . No flavor at all, came here starving and the orange chicken tasted like nothing
google avatar

Yelp
This place is pretty much my go to for Chinese fast food. The portions are great, the taste is usually good, and the price is and the price fair. I highly recommend the garlic chicken and the mushroom chicken. Food-4 Value-4 Portions-4 Service-3

Don M.

Yelp
This place use to be top notch, but seems they changed the orange chicken tasted old like maybe reheated and greasy and soggy it was definitely not fresh at all,and the rice was so greasy instead of light and flakey I heard the place changed owners won't be going back, last time

Yelp
Quick review. I have been craving chinese food for a few weeks now. While running some errands we found ourself near bamboo cafe. The service was great, employees were polite and the portions were huge. For less than 20$ my wife and I grabbed a meal , which is rare these days. Everything about the food unfortunately was off. The noodles were too salty, the green bean beef tasted like if it had been cooked in something that had also had fish sauce in it. The orange chicken and broccoli beef were nothing to rave about. Our quest for good Chinese food continues.
google avatar

Christina E.

Yelp
This is a convenient point n pick Chinese fast food restaurant with the usual choices of steamed rice, fried rice, and ir chow mein accompanied by orange chicken, mushroom chicken, buttered shrimp, beef broccoli and so on. We were rushed through our ordering process and I must say that usually when we visit a Chinese fast food they double up your servings of rice and chow mein to cut on the other food items but not here, they hardly offered any extra on the rice and chow mein and seemed to monitor how much meat to vegetable ratio they served you. As a foodie, I was disappointed by this experience and the restaurant.

Yelp
Orange chicken was a better this time. Maybe it was a late batch when I order last time. But overall it's a great quick and good to order food.

Bianca G.

Yelp
Great food portions & full of flavor! Pricing is fair for all that is given! Staff is friendly as well
google avatar

Lena C.

Yelp
It was terrible, No flavor and dry. And chicken had a weird smell. Yuck! It went straight to the trash can. Thumbs down!

Melissa J.

Yelp
My family loves the food and we've been going here for over 10 years (we mostly just pick up to go). However, it's not clean for dine in and the ambiance is not the best and the service is just basic.

Eddie V.

Yelp
This place is in a great location, the girls are always on it they don't slack at all. Very consistent hard working women. Every time I go there, they are quick and don't mess around. The work ethic I see every time I come if very admirable. Keep it up. Good value for the food.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Very well done. Green beans needed trimming but whole meal was good. Orange chicken was perfect.
google avatar

Anna G.

Yelp
The food is good nice and fresh good portions and served hot the staff is very friendly & the place is clean the only thing wrong is that disgusting cheap chili sauce they give you it's awful what a shame I don't understand why they can't use the real stuff they sure charge enough for their food!!

Carolyn W.

Yelp
Delicious orange chicken and noodles and the rest looked good and fresh. Staff was attentive and fast! The cost is about half of other Chinese restaurants and there is indoor seating. Eat and then grocery shop nearby at Vallarta, Home Depot or Walmart.
google avatar

Erin B.

Yelp
Shrimp wasn't very good Wontons we're out of this world! You win some you lose some

Yelp
Quick stop in for dinner. Friendly, helpful staff. They told me I could sample anything. Food bowls were full and hot. I ordered a two item dinner with rice and chow mein, butter shrimp and broccoli beef to go. Then, I got further down the line and added two egg rolls to my order. My order total was $10.22. Not a bad price at all because that box was full! Arrived home and tried a little of everything. Rice was typical, but good. Chow mein was tasty and seemed a bit spicy...maybe pepper. Broccoli beef was good. The beef was nice and thick and there was plenty of it and the broccoli. The butter shrimp was my favorite. Shrimp had a nice, crispy batter and a slightly sweet sauce. Really nice dish. The egg rolls were crispy and fresh. Delish! After I ate a little of everything, I still had enough food left over to fill two containers for future meals.

Yelp
Great food for a good price Nice people working there Very busy site site very clean Owner is nice

Yelp
Ordered the family meal on door dash yesterday! It was delicious and so much food. We got the egg flower soup, orange chicken, beef green bean, and mushroom chicken. The family meal could definitely feed 6 or more. A lot of bang for your buck and we will try it again.
google avatar

Kathi S.

Yelp
Favorite Chinese in Bakersfield! Always kind & courteous! Always hot & you get so much for your money! They have great flavor!

Yanet S.

Yelp
It wasnt tasty at all, not really much options to chose from. The food itself wasnt appetizing at all it went straight into the trash, leaving 5 stars so my comment wont get lost! Times are hard & to buy shitty food is just not it.
google avatar

Nancy P.

Yelp
Just ordered from Grubhub, wow I am impressed with the speed, price, and most of all the taste! What a nice treat, it was all so delicious!
google avatar

Roger P.

Yelp
Great price and good quality food for the price. Not a cafe even though it has cafe in the name. Greasy Chinese food what else could you ask for.
google avatar

Jason Z.

Yelp
They deserve four stars for price, friendly workers and owner who is cool! Instead of the scowl I get a China Bistro, this cafe is happy to see customers. Also there's no extra surcharges on beef or pork(Only Walnut Shrimp) so that's nice. The egg flower and hot and sour are good. Fried green beans were crispy and flavorful. I like China Bistro chow mein because the noodles are smaller and less starchy.
google avatar

Moses F.

Yelp
Food was fresh and delicious. The teriyaki chicken was great and flavorful. The pot stickers are also good.

Yelp
I love the bamboo cafe!! Their serving size is so big! (In my opinion) and the price is so good for the amount of food you get. It's so delicious too, the staff always greets us when we walk in and pretty clean place too! The string bean beef and orange chicken are my favorite everything is good there to be honest! Could never get enough, I'm always going there on my lunch whenever possible! Wish I couldn't gone today but it's okay I know I'll go again realllll soon

Yelp
Been coming here for years. They are very good and the Woks burn HOT as they are supposed to be 800 F and they create a BBQ effect known as Wok Hei in Mandarin or Wokmon in Cantonese. It is authentic in both its taste and the flavor. One cook stands out and he is Sing from Nepal and the Chinese Brothers who have run this place for over a decade. I am Chinese and Japanese and I will tell you they pretty consistent, but there have been off days where they did not get it right. In ten yeas of eating here that is still about 5% of the time...still not bad! They are Human after all and the Servers are always changing as they hire College Students and the turn over happens has these students graduate and move on. Try them out! If you are Chinese then I recommend them as Authentic over the many other Chinese Restaurants in Bakersfield.

Yelp
First of all, I am confused why people are expecting Restaurant Quality from a FAST FOOD location, y'all go to McDonalds and compare it to Eureka burger...well if you do, you're weird. Anyways, my roommates and I were hungry and it was conveniently located in the shopping plaza. We were going to get individual plates but instead we ordered 1 tray of chow mein, 1 tray of orange chicken, order of bbq pork, butter shrimp and egg flower soup. We only paid about $50 and was able to feed 10 other people. Yes, it's not "oh mah god top of this world" Chinese food. But considering it's a fast food joint, I t's good for the price!

Yelp
This was my favorite fast food Chinese restaurant in town. Just went there a couple days ago and was extremely disappointed. I had the two piece meal and chose the Kung Pao Chicken and Garlic Chicken. Really couldn't tell them apart. The Kung Pao Chicken, in the past, was nicely spiced with loads of chicken and peanuts, not anymore. It was bland, with very little chicken, and just a few peanuts. Same story with the Garlic Chicken. Couldn't taste any garlic flavor and very little chicken. Also, the portion sizes were much smaller than they used to be. I get why they may have cut down on the chicken and portion size, many restaurants are struggling during this pandemic. However, I don't get why they weren't able to season the dishes so that they resembled the flavor profiles advertised. I will probably wait until restaurants are getting back to normal hopefully by the end of 2021, and update my review.
google avatar

Cheryl G.

Yelp
I'm surprised! I like it. I never like crap in steam trays, but I did here. I wandered in just to see what was inside (yes, I was hungry too. but I'd planned on hitting the Middle Eastern place a couple doors down). I ordered a scoop of a stir fry shrimp and green beans with chicken. Both dishes tasted like they came from a really good restaurant. They were good! I got a double scoop of noodles and they were good, albeit a bit greasy (but let's face it, noodles are too greasy 90 percent of the time everywhere). Maybe I got lucky, it was my first trip, but the food was good, the people were nice and it was a positive experience. I'll go back.
google avatar

Luis F.

Yelp
Food wasn't to my likening The rice was probably the best part of it The soda was flat The orange chicken was not the crunchy consistency I like
google avatar

PatrickJ T.

Yelp
I like the place. I think it's a better option, and tastes better than Panda Express, China Bistro, and other similar restaurants. It's parking area can get a little crowded during peak times. A few times, it's taken me awhile to get out of the parking area cause of the traffic. The staff has been mostly polite, quick, and efficient. They could do a better job of keeping the restaurant clean though. The tables are not wiped down all too often. My favorite entrees are the Orange Chicken and the Shrimp with Vegetables. Several times, we have ordered these two entrees as party trays. We'll serve them at home for family and friends. The prices are fair, and their servings are generous! Give them a try and decide for yourself.

Yelp
Food is very good for take-out Chinese. Their customer service is okay, I am annoyed with the fact that they messed up my order and didn't take accountability for it. When I told them about my order being messed up, instead of trying to correct it, they came at me as argumentative. I don't have time for drama from someone that doesn't know how to take orders. Anyways, would go back for food but the staff needs to clean their ears and pay better attention because I almost got charged 150$ for a 50$ order.... and all I got was a "my bad." SMH and for those wondering about the fried rice, it does suck.

Connie Z.

Yelp
I want to thank Maria, Karina & Yatziry for excellent customer service yesterday. You girls made me feel welcome from the minute I walked in, ordered and paid for my food. I enjoyed my food it was delicious!!!!! When you get customer service like the one I experienced yesterday, I have to say, it made my food that much more delicious. Thank you girls.

Yelp
Hubby and I stopped by on Sunday 07.23.23 to grab a quick bite to eat. I have been craving Kung Pao so we went and they didn't have Kung Pao Beef but did have Kung Pao Chicken. I was highly disappointed. It tasted like somebody in the back wasn't paying attention and put teriyaki sauce on it and that's it. There were no cashews, no spice, no flavor, nothing. It was missing the PAO along with the KUNG. It's like they threw the chicken, some peanuts, veggies and tariyaki sauce in a bowl, tossed and set it out. Where's the spice & kick!? Also, the chicken had some gristle and bone pieces in it...hubby got a 3 item plate with the butter shrimp, green bean beef & pepper beef. The beef for both dishes had a weird texture to them and he got 98% green beans and 2% beef on that dish. Do they not taste test to ensure the food tastes correct? Only saving grace was the Butter Shrimp and the Chow Mein. If we ever went back, it would only be for those two items.

Todd T.

Yelp
I would give this business 5 stars due to taste and friendliness, but what is starting to stand out is the ever shrinking item containers on their combo plates!!! They have again shrunk their containers to where your now only getting half of what you used to a year ago, but yet I am still paying the same amount of money for the food! It's now got me wondering if it's worth it now due to their corner cutting.
google avatar

Serenity M.

Yelp
My new fave chinese takeout place!! They give lots of food for a great price and oh-em-gee don't let me get started on the butter chicken. Ok I will- it was nice and buttery and crispy with the shrimp not cooked to death on the inside!! Next time I'll get a 3 item combo with butter chicken, butter shrimp, and BUTTER shrimp. lol. It was that good. The rest of the food was decent/standard (orange chicken, pepper steak, bbq pork -not dry so that was a plus). Definitely be back!
google avatar

Janna L.

Yelp
We ordered take-out by phone not knowing what a fast food type place it was where you can just walk in and pick your own from the behind the glass buffet. We were asked to come pick up our food in around 15 min, we gave them 30 min and our food was still not ready. Service very friendly however and the selection was decent. Not plentiful but decent. The food tasted just ok. I liked the look of the fried rice a lot better than the rice we got, even though it was said to be cooked right away to order. Just the color. I thought the side dish containers you could get were great. For $1.75 you could try many things and pick a fave. I would be back for the service and convenience. Price was good. Would not be my first choice for Chinese food nor would I bring anyone here if I wanted or needed to impress. Update. . Tried a year or so later... service still friendly. Food.. meh. The rice is just so bland! The beef and broccoli is.. ok. The beef is a bit weird in texture. Decent value though for a bowl just over $4 in price. I could not even eat half of it. Not rushing back.. but my fortune cookie did wish me a beautiful day :)

Lily M.

Yelp
Great tasting food at a very reasonable price. Totally delicious!! Wonton soup awesome

Alex T.

Yelp
I recently moved to Northern California and still look forward to going back to Bakersfield just to grab a plate here. Love it.
google avatar

Eddy A.

Yelp
Ate here twice. Won't go back. No flavor noodles were way over cooked. . Only leaving a long review because the app said my review was to short.
google avatar

Petunnia G.

Yelp
They open at 11, and make sure you are there by 11:02! Obviously that's when the food is freshest. They give generous generous portions for the price you pay; I usually have it for two meals. My personal favorite is their noodles, they're thicker and not bombarded with cabbage. They're shrimps are smaller than other Chinese fast food restaurants, but the portion and the flavors make up for it. The girls serving are always super friendly.
google avatar

Arturo C.

Yelp
The food is bomb AF I always go on my lunch break! I recommend it noodles are thick better than panda :) that's a for sure
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
Again, I had the most amazing experience but this time it was with a diligent young lady named Mandy! She was kind, professional and clearly destine for wonderful things. Thank you for continuing to employ great people like Mandy! She and the rest of the staff is why I have been coming here for 10 years, thank you!

Yelp
Disappointing... both the orange chicken and the king pao chicken were soggy and lacking taste. Fried rice was pretty similar to Panda Express. My suggestion, spend the extra couple dollars to get more quality Chinese from Panda Express. Take these yelp reviews with a grain of salt. Pros: Quantity Cheap(er) Cons: Food lacks taste Soggy chicken
