Where to Find Sushi Takeout and Delivery in Portland Right Now | Eater Portland

"I note that Portland’s Bamboo Sushi chain is currently open Tuesdays through Sundays from 2 to 8 p.m., running its standard menu of elaborate rolls, poke, and sustainably caught fish; there are three locations open (NW 23rd, Alberta and Lake Oswego) and delivery and takeout options are available on the restaurant group’s website." - Seiji Nanbu

Google
One of, if not the best, sushi spots in the area. Service is always great, cocktails are tasty, and of course the sushi is incredible. Green machine: 10/10 the cilantro sweet chili sauce is otherworldly. I dream about it. Put it in a cup and I’ll drink it. Albacore crispy onion: 10/10 the yuzu with the crispy onions and the garlic aioli on that beautiful albacore tuna? I hope this never leaves the menu because WOW Hoki poki box: 10/10 this makes me feel like I’m on a beach in Hawaii. It’s perfect. Rivers and streams: 10/10 loved the combination of flavors on this one. So so so good! They never miss and I’m a fan for life. Please do yourself a favor and eat here. I definitely recommend making a reservation!

Google
After a long day of hiking we didn’t feel like going out so we asked some locals where the best sushi was and they suggested Bamboo Sushi, it happened to be a place I found online when researching our trip to Portland months ago. We bought five rolls, and they were amazing.

Google
Lovely setting especially summer sitting outside. Very inventive food and absolutely delicious sushi. In particular, the salmon flight is excellent. I don’t normally get salmon and sushi restaurants because it’s usually farmed, but this is all wild caught and so fresh.

Google
The fish was very fresh and the selections were unique. This is some of the best sushi I’ve had in a while. The service was great and the employees are very knowledgeable and friendly. My photo shows the Tuna Zuke sashimi and the chef’s choice nigiri (5pc).

Google
1st time , my wife always wanted to take me here. Celebrated my birthday. It was a great experience. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was wonderful. Kara and Anna recommended excellent options. Loved everything, such fresh seafood and well balanced dishes. Very happy to be there and excited to return. Thank you 🙏 Chef and staff 💙

Google
I stopped going to sushi because I know too much about the fishing industry. Bamboo sushi rekindled my love for sushi because they really care about how the fish is sourced. Not only that, they have one of the most creative, beautiful menus I’ve ever come across. Excited to return.

Google
A first timer at Bamboo, but definitely not a last timer. I totally enjoyed dining at Bamboo yesterday late afternoon. While seating felt just a wee bit crowded, everything else about Bamboo was superb. Ian, our server was well informed , pleasant, and attentive without hovering....perfect. We ordered a variety of offerings, including tempura 🍤 shrimp, the black cod, garlic fried rice , the garden of eden sushi roll , agedashi tofu, and the wonderful, off the charts king salmon kama collar. All foods came out family style and ready to share. Prices were a bit steeper than usual, but considering the expert preparation , tastes, and service , I felt I received value for money spent. Final take....recommended. I'm looking forward to my return visit already.

Yelp
The green machine. You have to try it, you just have to. There is only street parking but plenty of it. There's tons of cute little shops around to check out while you wait for your table. I highly recommended making reservations. The size of the restaurant is deceiving because there's a whole lot of space past where the eyes can see. We had a big dinner and lots of food was ordered. The big hit was the Green Machine and the Rivers and Streams. Honestly some of the best sushi I've ever had. The waitstaff was amazing. This is my new sushi spot!

Yelp
I'm amazed to say this may be the best sushi I've ever experienced and that's saying a lot, considering I've enjoyed sushi in places from South Africa to South Australia (still saving Japan for the future!). Momoko is a wonderful server, attentive, professional, and graceful in every interaction. The décor adds a playful charm without being distracting, creating a fun atmosphere to savor such high-quality food. My usual order * Uni * Ikura * Amaebi (sweet shrimp head fried, tail raw) I usually request no sauce but forgot this time. Even so, the sauce offered a soft, vibrant complement to the raw tail, though I ended up taking most of it off. Shredded daikon also pictured, a staple. Tried this visit * Crispy Rice Tuna I always like to try one item unique to each restaurant, and this was it. The rice was perfectly crisp on the outside yet still fluffy inside, topped with a generous portion of seasoned tuna. The sauce was more of a whisper, subtle and fun, allowing the textures and balance to shine through. If you're in Portland, treat yourself! I know I'll be coming back!

Yelp
I had a great experience at Bamboo Sushi celebrating my son's birthday. All of the staff were welcoming and very nice. The restaurant is decorated beautifully, the music was great, and the service was pretty good. We tried several items from the menu. My favorites were the Octopus Poke (Although I felt there should have been more Octopus. There were maybe four small pieces). The flavors in the poke were spot on. I also enjoyed the Green Machine with Salmon. Our server said it's a favorite among guests and now I know why. The flavors go together so well. I almost ordered a second. I also loved the Unicorn. Service was slow at times, however, the server offered us Edamame on the house to make up for the wait. I asked our server to take pictures of us and she was more than happy to. They also celebrated my son's birthday with a desert and lit candle. Our time at Bamboo Sushi leaves us with fond memories. Parking wasn't difficult around the time we arrived, however, it looked to be a bit more challenging when we left.

Yelp
I admit I slacked off on this one as I visited this restaurant in August 2025 when I was in Portland. I even forgot to add a check-in for this restaurant. I am a bad Yelper. Other than that, this Bamboo Sushi restaurant was a nice place to have a good sushi dinner. This restaurant (and many others) was conveniently located a few blocks from where I was staying so I was able to walk there. It is a small interior but there is seating on the sidewalk for outdoor dining. My friend and I were directed to seating along the front window. It is a nice spot to people watch and have nice conversation. Our server was excellent and professional. We ordered the edamame, the tune, sea bream, scallop sashimi, cucumber sunomomo and the spicy tuna crispy rice. Everything was very good and both of us enjoyed the meal.

Yelp
Stopped by again when I came back to Portland for work and got the Garden of Eden and Rivers & Streams roll to share with a coworker (two rolls plus an appetizer was more than enough for us!) The balance of flavors is really well done and you can tell the ingredients are super fresh. Highly recommend sticking with their signature rolls, they're signature for a reason! For apps we got the sunomono and the brussel sprouts which were good but not great. Not sure I'd order the sunomono again, I prefer a much more savory cucumber salad and this one was on the sweeter side. Don't think they added any soy sauce which was a miss for me. Overall a pretty good spot considering prices and portion sizes. Will say service was a bit slow this time around even though there were only a few parties in the restaurant.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of bamboo! This was my first time at this location, and I really liked how there was more seating available compared to other locations, and I liked the interior design with the natural elements. The service was great! Servers were attentive & provided a generous amount of ginger compared to other Bamboo locations. However, I was a bit disappointed by the green machine. This is my go to order, and I felt like the tempura was overcooked, which made the green machine taste a bit drier than usual despite the sauce. Additionally, the avocado crispy rice was a bit too salty at some bites and the rice was a bit dry. Overall, I enjoyed my experience dining at Bamboo. The forbidden fruit (cocktail) was refreshing. My friend ordered the viewpoint but the pisco was overpowering!

Yelp
Premium and delicious sushi with relaxing and ambient decor. Great for a nice dinner date if you have some money to spend! The sushi is delicious and well portioned we most likely could have had one more roll but we decided on dessert instead this evening which was phenomenal. I didn't realize this place had different locations but this one is beautiful especially in the location it's in. The sushi has a distinct flavor and tastes fresh, whereas the dessert we received was bold and rich in flavor and settled all the food we had for the evening. Of course the service was amicable, they delivered it with a smile and I don't have much more to say about that. All in all a great place to enjoy a delicious meal

Yelp
Been to all the locations and this spot is Bamboo best: ~In the heart of the Alberta arts district. Very relaxing to sit outdoor on the sidewalk on a sunny afternoon. ~Modern inside izakaya decor, always lively with energy. ~Sushi rice consistently perfect here. The best service each time here. They are just happy here.

Brooke C.

Yelp
Pretty sure this is the best salmon sashimi I ever had and I've traveled. I'm high maintenance.

Yelp
Today is my birthday and my sweet partner took me out to dinner here. The past 2 weeks have been difficult on us, and even more so in past 3 days. In order for a proper birthday celebration, we decided to split 3 appetizers amongst our respective sushi roll meals. The food came promptly along with fantastic service. As we began to indulge in the courses, our moods switched from exhausted woe to an energized happiness. This food was so delicious, we perked up through the fog and relished in a deserved moment of joy. They also gave us a free brownie that was perfectly moist and dense, topped with vanilla icecream, accompanied by berries. For free! Because of m birthday. 5 stars!

Sara J.

Yelp
We made a reservation for five to celebrate a birthday, and it ended up being a really disappointing night. We were seated in a corner and basically ignored for most of the meal. It even seemed like our original server left because someone new took over halfway through. No one checked on us -- we had to flag people down just to order. The tofu dish was completely overcooked and inedible. The sushi didn't look or taste fresh, was served at room temperature, and just wasn't appetizing. We didn't even finish it. We spent almost $400, which made the whole experience even more frustrating. What happened to Bamboo Sushi? This used to be a place known for quality and sustainability, but this location completely missed the mark. It was our first visit here, and unfortunately, it'll be our last. There are so many great sushi spots in this city -- I'd recommend trying one of those instead.

Yelp
The green machine continues to be one of the best rolls around- my favorite is to add salmon on top. The Alberta location is fast, friendly, and walkable to nearby shops (and salt and straw for dessert). I've been here 7 years now and bamboo will continue to be a staple in our ongoing sushi rotation.
google avatar

Vitta P.

Yelp
This Bamboo location is elite. They have the freshest rolls and the best tasting ones. The amount of green sauce they add is perfect! The wait time is usually pretty quick. We finessed this table during a packed out night and sat for literally only 30min total.

Yelp
Some good some bad. It's a bit more fusion-y than other sushi spots which some people like, but I usually prefer more traditional. They have lots of carpaccio type appetizers with sauces that have a long list of ingredients. I tried one and the sauce was pretty tasty and interesting but tastes like maybe they don't use the best sashimi cuts since mostly you taste the sauce. The roll choice is very limited - only about 5 rolls. I liked one ok, the big island I think. The green machine is a simple but tasty vegetarian roll. Their selection of sushi is ok - there are many that are missing from the traditional sushi choices as they only pick sustainably farmed fish, which is nice and all but that means no fatty tuna or good salmon (local, sustainable salmon just doesn't taste good to me, sorry). And also means a bit higher on price tag for sushi/sashimi. For non-sushi fans, they don't have really any teriyaki/bentos or yakisoba but they have wagyu burgers oddly. We tried these and they were good, but couldn't taste anything wagyu about it. At $18, it's a reasonable price for a quality thick patty burger but it was plain, only cheese w/ a few pickle slices on the side which maybe they do to highlight the "wagyuness" but I still think a slice of lettuce tomato and raw onion would have made it better. But anyway most ppl probly don't come for the burgers so in short I'd say it was tasty but pricey. If you're about rolls and traditional nigiri/sashimi then I'd probly go with one of the other couple sushi spots on Alberta, but if you like a bit more fusiony/fancy you might like it here.

Yelp
Not much parking as it is on a Main Street. We were able to hop out to go get our pick up order and park on the side to wait. Their online system was having issues so apparently didn't send the order. When I showed them the email they got the 2 roles and app ready in 10 min which is pretty good. $44 for 2 rolls and a sashimi - hit the Sushi craving. Didn't seat in to eat but vibes felt nice and had outdoor seating as well.
google avatar

Mysti L.

Yelp
My favorite sushi place for many years, especially as someone who avoids seafood. The vegetarian options are great. Also, they have delicious crafted cocktails, and draft beers. Great service and atmosphere.

Katherine P.

Yelp
Super let down! We got a sitter for a date night and made a 7:15pm reservation. Got there right on time and was told our table wasn't ready yet. We ended up waiting over 30 minutes for our reserved table! No updates from the host until we asked. Then we were sat in the corner of the sushi bar staring at Tupperware. It was so lame. They comped an appetizer for the long wait which was nice. But honestly, the food was a disappointment. Worst seaweed salad I've ever had. The calamari was half fried oranges. And I ordered a glass of wine that never came. It was such a bummer to have to extend the sitter because it took so long to be seated and then have the food be just ehhh

Yelp
Had a very nice time here tonight. I've never been to the Alberta location, so here goes. First impressions, okay, but, we did have a reservation (4pm on a weekday...), asked if we could change tables due to the glare outside, and not rude or anything, but, just set an odd tone, aka, there's nobody in here, and wasn't for more than an hour, let's not make it seem like you're looking for a table--especially for two. Ordered a HH wine, took what felt like forever. But then, great service after. The folks here were so nice, and after we settled in and ordered a round of food, awesome! We got a few drinks a piece (just us two). The tofu vodka cocktail...interesting, but not great, just something you don't see all the time. Glad we tied it. Other than that, either classic or just wine. Drink prices are good for HH. Food, we got veggie tempura, which is a crazy portion, but kinda missed the crunch and flavor I'm used to, but good, the sauce, no flavor at all and we ended up lemon and soy adding at the table. Spicy miso soup, and wow, the chili oil added a lot, and the dashi was salty, bold and right sweetness. Nice! Tuna crunchy rice, amazing quality, but lacked salt or another item to round it out. Nigiri, Ikura, Kanpachi (sorry if I botched that), and scallop were incredible and the rice, which is the main dish here--each grain is sweet, vinegar and separate, from the other grains, which is (besides the "topping"), the most critical part. Wow! Bonus! They were trying out a roll for Valentine's Day with the staff looked like, and they came by and gave a whole portion to us for FREE! Nice touch! Pro move on their part. Will be back again, as far as prices go, it's Bamboo, so no real deals here, just good food, that you know where it comes from, and be willing to pay a fair price for it--that doesn't break the bank. The two of us were fat and happy (and a little buzzed), for a price we felt good about. Not bad for very quality Japanese! Oh, and I almost forgot, on the nigiri, it's real wasabi, not the paste that's mostly horseradish!
google avatar

Jen V.

Yelp
What they do well - they do amazing, and their weak spots are still average - so a solid 4/5. My favorites: - spicy salmon crispy rice (I could've eaten 4 plates) - king salmon nigiri Weak spots: - the cocktails: shishito sour 2/5 Service was a bit rough BUT they were very understaffed and our server did her best and I totally understood. They definitely have higher prices than I would want BUT I appreciate how eco conscious they are. All in all would come back, but may try a few other spots to help me appreciate this one ;)

Yelp
Such an amazing experience at Bamboo Sushi Alberta! My sister had a reservation here for her birthday dinner and it was such a pleasant time. The servers were very quick and got our drinks and food to the table in a timely manner. We ordered m edamame, chicken karaage, and shrimp tempura roll for food. We got the ume blossom and kindred spirit for drinks! Everything was very tasteful. The chicken karaage is yummy with the sauce that they serve it with and is a good alternative to other options that are not seafood. The shrimp tempura roll was a hit, I loved it with the spicy sriracha sauce! The restaurant itself had Japanese feng shui vibe to it. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!
google avatar

Yelp
Great atmosphere! Fast & friendly customer service. The cauliflower tempura was off the chain super yummy was even better than I imagine would come here again definitely.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazingly fresh, as well as creative. I ordered the delicious spicy edamame and the Green Machine paired with a mocktail. Service was fast and super tasty. will dine here again

Yelp
Always delicious!! Came to celebrate my birthday and was very satisfied. The Hand Roll Trio was sooo good.

Yelp
Love this place! Super friendly and efficient. Big Island roll is perfection. I've heard that it's consistent at other locations and I hope it is because I want to try them all! Cute decor.

Yelp
I took a fat edible and devoured 2 garden of Eden's. Best thing of my entire life. Workers are straight chillers too I like coming here
google avatar

Angel P.

Yelp
first time here for a date night! cozy interior with very friendly staff. we ordered the spicy tuna crispy rice which came out first & it was very tasty. i'm a sucker for anything with truffle in it which they used in the eel sauce. the roles we ordered were Friday The 13th & The Unicorn. we were very happy with our food! my partner was obsessed with the jalapeño sauce for The Unicorn roll. our waiter was so sweet & gave us the matcha dessert in the house. it was like a matcha pudding/flan texture & really yummy if you like matcha
google avatar

Yelp
Outstanding sushi and sashimi. Fresh and delicious. Nice selection of cocktails and craft beers. Pleasant and attentive service. Very nice ambiance. Highly recommend. The happy hour specials (both food and drink) are great values.

Yelp
We visited in 2018 while traveling from Utah because a friend suggested Bamboo Sushi. We fell IN LOVE. The green machine roll was the best food we had ever eaten. We ended up moving to the area in 2021, with the Portland food scene being a huge reason for the move. We have ordered Bamboo Sushi almost weekly since living here. Nothing tops it! Fav food items: Green Machine (plain, no fish is best!) Cauliflower Tempura, Veggie Tempura, Little Island Roll. Their Ube and Dewdrop cocktails are also amazing! Service and Ambiance is also always a win! A+
google avatar

Jordan B.

Yelp
Best sushi in the area. The fact that 95% of there menu is gluten free is amazing. I never get to eat whatever I want I usually only have a few options on a menu. I will keep coming back.
google avatar

Susie C.

Yelp
Love that it is easy to make reservation! When we showed up, we didnt have to wait for our party of 8. Sushi were all fresh. All the food was very good tasting. Our waitress was lovely and nice. Super helpful for what our family needed. It is hip atmosphere. We had a good time and glad we went to check out this place.

Yelp
Went to Bamboo with a friend since we were craving sushi and had a reservation for 5 PM on a Sunday. I LOVE crispy rice and was delighted to learn that they have four different types! Tuna, albacore, salmon, and avocado. I got the albacore and was initially told I'd receive 5 pieces but delighted that I received 6! The rice was the perfect amount of crunch and crisp and the albacore was very flavorful. I also ordered the ume shiso roll because ume is my favorite and I always like trying it at different sushi restaurants. This was probably the freshest ume shiso roll I've had! The cucumber added some crunch and I wish I had take a photo before I gobbled. My friend ordered the salmon carpaccio, amaebi, and spicy salmon uramaki roll. I ordered the ginger citrus NA drink and she had the ume blossom. Service is also FAST. I swear after we ordered it only took five minutes for my crispy rice to pop up. We finished eating everything in 30 minutes! Vibes are wonderful, very chill, music in the background but not loud to the point you can't have conversation. It's another great restaurant on Alberta along the row of all the other fantastic restaurants so definitely check it out!

Bishop P.

Yelp
A really lovely place, salmon sashimi was fresh and flavorful, all rolls are recommended. Good selection of wines and the beer is cold. A great date spot or business meeting but either way you'll get really good sushi.

Yelp
Crazy, different and delicious. We tried lots of things on this menu and enjoyed all of them. Hoki Poke and Green Machine were our fav's. Good service and lively atmosphere.

Yelp
Best Happy hour ever. Great cocktails. Haley really made our experience. Lots to choose from on the menu.

John K.

Yelp
Food was great. Nigiri set at Happy hour is a deal! Haley rocks the bar. Very attentive and smart about menu, drinks and all things funny. Best vibe if all the bamboo's,
google avatar

Jess P.

Yelp
The green machine is the best (not pictured) and the kaleidoscope cocktail was fabulous!! We also got the rainbow and it was ok too! The spicy fried rice was to die for!! The service was TOP NOTCH! Cute little place right on Alberta st!
google avatar

Autumn A.

Yelp
Wanted to get over here because of the rave reviews! Wasn't able to get a reservation same day but the wait was 30ish minutes which wasn't bad! We walked across the street and grabbed a drink while we waited. We ordered a few rolls (rainbow, friday the 13th), handrolls (spicy tuna & shrimp tempura), nigiri pieces (hamachi & salmon), and the spicy edamame. Everything was good, I wouldn't say it blew me away but it was tasty. The price seemed expensive but that's probably because they sustainability source their fish, which i thought was cool!
google avatar

Barry M.

Yelp
Sushi was fire!and will definitely go back for more. Ordered the mango tuna burrito delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely ambience. Attentive, friendly service! Fresh and high quality sushi! The happy hour menu is great- recommend the poke bowl!

Yelp
Arrive to pick up a delivery order. They were no buys, but had not yet started the order. I waited 10+ minutes. During this time no one checked in with em. Not even the manager who was on duty and walked past me several times. Multiple people Working and just standing f behind the counter chatting. Manager FINALLY comes over, asks who Inam Waiting on. I give the name, he goes to the back and comes out 10 mins later with the order. I check the order when I get to my car and it's missing items.

Yelp
Good food and service. Stopped by during business trip. The sashimi was very fresh and tasty. Service is fast.
google avatar

kate H.

Yelp
Overrated. Pricey. Just meh. So many great sushi places to go to instead. I won't go back. Tuna poke was over sauced with sesame oil and the tuna didn't taste fresh. The king salmon is always great but too pricey and not worth it. They do have a great burger so there's that.
google avatar

Yelp
My partner and I were absolutely blown away by this place. We first want to give a huge thanks to our two servers Miley and Ryan who were super nice, attentive, funny, and helpful in recommending mocktails and sake. I immediately was drawn to the Friday the 13th roll when I saw it and it didn't disappoint in the slightest. It tasted so fresh and was quite savory. However, I can't emphasize enough how mind blown we both were by the California roll. We both came up here from California so we've had our fair share of Cali rolls but we just wanted a third roll to fill us up. We both took that first bite and said "WOW!" I never imagined a California roll could have so much flavor. All around, we had an amazing anniversary dinner and loved how cozy and comfortable the restaurant was. And a big thank you to the management for the anniversary desert y'all surprised us with, we appreciated it so much. If we didn't have to leave back home to California, this would be our new go to. Would highly recommend.

Madison H.

Yelp
We had an incredible dinner The green machine is to die for along with the spicy salmon crispy rice. But what really made our night was our server. Dan was unbelievably kind and attentive. He is the reason we will be coming back.
google avatar

Jenny X.

Yelp
Got the omakase here for $40/person and was really happy with what we got! We got a good amount of sushi that was spaced out pretty evenly and even got the rolls that were most popular here included in our deal. We had a good amount of time to just sit around and chill here even after our meal! The vibe here is still casual, and the lighting is dim but the room is usually packed with a lot of people! Make sure to make a reservation! These places usually fill up quite fast! I'd come back and try to get the sunset rolls!
google avatar

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
For a chain throughout Portland, I would say Bamboo is pretty consistent at each location. The serving sizes are small and the restaurant is at an above-average price range, but the service I received at this location was pretty good. I ended up trying the Omakase menu (Chef's Choice, around the 50$ price range for two people.) I did like the taste of everything, but was still very hungry after the dinner- in the Chef's Choice selection, they gave us a 12$ salad that I honestly would never order, and still wouldn't. I felt a bit cheated, especially given such small portions for everything. I would skip over omakase next time and go for the regular sushi rolls. Also, side note for anyone sitting near the door: fruit flies and the like constantly kept flying into our food from the outside, so we had to stay vigilant as we ate our meal. The water pitcher at our table with cucumbers in it, so if you don't like that you can just ask for regular tap. Also, the restroom isn't really in the restaurant itself. You have to walk through the back of the restaurant to a hallway that connects to the neighboring stores.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in the pnw! Food was great, customer service was phenomenal. We got our food very quickly !

Yelp
Always excellent and sustainable. But enough about the food, you know it's great already. Let's talk about Matt the server at the NE Alberta location. We have been to this spot twice and both times Matt has been welcoming and genuine. They are informative but in a brief and kind way without hovering or condescending. They are always busy around the space but never seem rushed. They are always right there when you need anything but do not interrupt your experience. Matt is awesome and deserves a raise.

Yelp
The appetizers & sushi were so delicious ! Out of a few spots in Portland this sushi place was the best ! Freshness..beautiful preparation... definitely a 10/10 bite. The Chicken was definitely a favorite of mine. The employees were awesome and helpful !
