Bamboo Sushi Plots Bay Area Locations in San Ramon and San Francisco | Eater SF

"I learned that Bamboo Sushi originally opened in Portland in 2008 and bills itself as the world’s first certified sustainable sushi restaurant. It follows Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch guidelines and operates with a relatively low carbon footprint, so most fish aren’t flown in from Japan; the current menu highlights sweet shrimp from British Columbia, salmon from Alaska, geoduck from Washington, albacore from Oregon, and tuna from Hawaii. The group has grown gradually (five restaurants in Portland and another in Denver) and is opening its first California locations this year: an as-yet-unannounced San Francisco site and a San Ramon restaurant at City Center Bishop Ranch. The San Ramon outpost will offer a mix of traditional nigiri, creative sushi rolls, Japanese-inspired small plates and full omakase, likely carry over the Portland restaurants’ vegetarian and gluten-free options, feature some unique dishes from the local-focused San Ramon chef, and include a full bar with cocktails alongside a large sake list." - Janelle Bitker

We ate at Bamboo Sushi last weekend, located on the second floor of City Center Mall in San Ramon. You will not miss it as it’s literally a few steps from the elevator and you can see their sign from the ground. The ambiance is nice, specially if you sit by the glass wall. As for the food, it was decent, but not quite what I expected for the price. Not a bad spot, but I was hoping for a bit more in terms of quality. My hubby wanted to order the Tomodachi and since it’s our first time at the resto and have not seen the fish quality, we ended up ordering a poke and three of the signature rolls: The Unicorn, Rainbow and Bamboo Dragon and a few IPAs for drinks. The Tuna Poke was served on top of some cucumber and salad in a bowl and with some Taro chips on the side. I am not sure if I’m supposed to eat them separately or like chip and salsa style so I tried both ways. The taro chips was sliced thinly and very crispy so that was perfect. I didn’t find the savory umami taste from the Tuna, which is supposed to be common on Poke. It could use a little less of the soy sauce dressing, as it covered my salad and spilling on the sides, but didn’t make an impact on the Tuna’s taste even when I tried to mix it. The tuna’s size was big so it turned out to be too heavy to be a topping or as a dip, specially if you mix it with the cucumber and salad. Personally, I feel like I was served with Tuna Salad in soy sauce. The rolls tasted regular. The fish toppings on the Rainbow Roll were a little too soft, and some of the meat didn’t hold together well, which affected the overall texture. The colors seem to be pale and not vibrant, like that of the sashimi you buy from a fastfood or food trucks. Although the Tuna from the Dragon Roll wasn’t spicy enough, i appreciate the crispy texture. It would have looked appetizing though if the spicy tuna was delicately added at the end of both sides of the roll, for they look like a last minute blob, with no consideration on Japanese food art. I love cilantro but I think the Unicorn had too much of it as that was the only flavor I remembered about this roll. I was expecting a crunchy shrimp tempura, but it was too wet on one side that the texture doesn’t seem right. The presentation could use some improvement. The rice was a bit loose and tended to fall apart, and the overall plating wasn’t as neat as expected from a Japanese restaurant, with rice crumbs on my two plates. Although I waited for the food for a while, I feel like all the food were rushedly made and the quality got sacrificed. ‘Will I give this place another chance? Maybe, and only because the place was crowded when we ate here so I’ll try it when it’s not weekend.

Google
Very hard to find vegetarian sushi, but this place just hits the spot!! The edamame was spicy and so flavourful The crispy cauliflower was on point and the brownie had black sesame seeds. So different n really amazing Would definitely come back

Google
Really nice setting, but don’t let that distract you from the food! Each roll is crafted to perfection, and the sauce/toppings on each are never under or overdone. Go to sushi restaurant!

I was really disappointed with my visit. The main concern was the overall cleanliness of the restaurant. There was water pooled under one of the tables, and despite staff walking by multiple times, no one seemed to notice or put out a wet floor sign. There was also a random pair of chopsticks left on the dirty seat cushions, which clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while. On top of that, there were bits of leftover food on a chair that hadn’t been properly cleaned up. As for the food, it was just as underwhelming. We ordered two rolls (rainbow and Friday the 13th) and both had barely any fish inside — mostly just rice and filler. Friday the 13th was drenched in eel sauce. Chicken Karaage was not fried properly and cold when served. For the price, you could definitely go somewhere else and have a much better experience.

Michael was the best part of this establishment. They fired him. He knew what hospitality is. He is conscious of allergies and dietary restrictions and was the sole reason I recommended this place to so many people. I will never return and will urge all of my friends and family to not dine here either.

Google
A new, clean, modern experience with friendly waiters. Flavors were interesting, with smoky seared sashimi and juicy cut rolls. Several rolls were a bit salty, which obscured some of the other flavors. The wagyu burger was thick but properly cooked and combined the slight bitterness of the shishito with the sweetness of teriyaki sauce. Sake selection was nice and paired well with the dishes. Try the one called Deep Faith. Overall recommended.

Google
Delicious rolls, awesome sake selection, beautiful atmosphere, and a great team. Overall a great experience. The crispy rice w tuna was great and so was the Friday the 13th roll. Shoutout to Michael for chatting us up about the different sake in our flights, and for letting us try some others.

Our waitor, Nick, provided excellent service. He was attentive, professional, and friendly! Our dining experience was made perfect due to Nick tending to the smallest of detail and doing so with a good heart. Very thankful!

Yelp
My family and I are vegan and we LOVE this place! The manager, Carmelo, went out of his way to recommend plenty of plant-based options that were delicious! Several appetizers, rolls, and entree options were easily available to substitute. Friendly staff and they allow pups on the patio! 10/10.

Yelp
Sushi wasn't bad but it's really expensive. Each roll is somewhere in the $20+ per roll range. For that price I think the sushi place in Dublin area is much better, tho probably significantly more difficult to get in. On the bright side, the spicy edamame are delicious and the staff are always super nice and friendly!

Yelp
Bamboo is delicious! As a vegan, I'm always looking for restaurants with options for me and the Bamboo menu has soooo many to choose from. Ella was our server and she was so sweet. I truly appreciated that she asked about allergies and dietary restrictions to start. Then the manager, Carmelo, came out and told us about all of the vegan options they have. He told me that he's vegan too!! They even brought us water for our puppy out on the patio. So thoughtful :') The photo I took was after we had already enjoyed several bites of our food lol. My partner got the wagyu burger (he's not vegan) and I got the spicy edamame, pickled veggie roll, and the little island hopper per Carmelo's recommendation. I hope they add a separate section for all of the vegan options soon!! Thank you guys for a wonderful lunch :)

Yelp
Well time has passed and not happy to report that I ended up with food poisoning after eating here. Barely made it to my car before the vomiting started. They claim to have fresh fish, but it really must be more like "fresh from the back of the freezer" fish.

Yelp
The host and waitress I had tonight was excellent! Very kind and efficient staff, I had a problem with my water and it got swapped out immediately. 10/10 for service and hospitality. The food itself looks really pretty, but it borders between good and okay. Got the Setto tonight which comes with 6 pc nigiri + 9 pc sashimi -- 5/5 This was very tasty, especially the salmon sashimi, salmon and octopus nigiri, wonderfully done. Spicy tuna crispy rice -- 5/5 Tasty treat, crispy exterior and soft inside, good portion and flavor for spicy tuna topping. Salmon hosomaki roll -- 3/5 Just the standard salmon sashimi wrapped in rice and seaweed, it's okay. Green machine -- 5/5 This is the best vegetarian roll I've ever had, so yummy! Sunset roll -- 3/5 Tasted just like the tuna crispy rice topping, not too exciting. They also serve a salad at the beginning and that was really refreshing! 5/5 Water -- 2/5 Tasted like detergent, got a new water and it tasted just like tap, some restaurants water is better than others, this is probably the worst thing I had tonight; but if you don't care about the water, Bamboo is fantastic. Great interior lighting, friendly staff, and good food.

Yelp
We were lucky enough to dine here during Restaurant Week and tried the menu. I remember passing by this spot when visiting Portland and didn't get to try it so happy it's in San Ramon! Ambiance is nice and modern- we had to wait a bit for our table and glad we got a spacious area in the back with our toddler. It was busy and our server was very knowledgeable and nice but he got a bit slammed and I had to request water refills multiple times. Quality of the food was good- fish was fresh, rolls were creative, wagyu burger was tasty, and the restaurant week menu was a good deal given the original higher priced menu. I'd like to try more of the rolls next time!

Yelp
San Ramon-This place has been a favorite for several years, mainly because they are gluten & dairy free. This is a HUGE plus for my two besties. We started with the tempura veggies. Light and fluffy, they were chef's kiss! Rolls-Rivers & Streams, Full Circle, and Garden of Eden. WOOHOO! We were in SUSHI Heaven!! All of their fish is extremely fresh and I love how they add unusual items (watercress, leeks, kewpie dill aioli) to their rolls. We've been repeat noshers here for years.

Yelp
Came in for the first time for lunch today with the family. It's so fun inside! It's clean and has a great vibe. I also loved how different the menu is. It's not the traditional Japanese cuisine, but a lot of fun fusion options and modern dishes. Great options for kiddos. My favorite was probably the nigiri set--- the fish is fresh and delicious. What could have made this 5 stars was the service. Our server did the bare minimum. Took our order, checked in once and gave us our check.

Yelp
We came here for dinner last night and had an amazing time. I loved (and would re-order): The green machine with salmon, spicy salmon with crispy rice, crispy garlic tofu, and the forager(drink). I liked the hamachi sizzle and fire goddess (specialty roll) as well but I just like the other ones better. Service was phenomenal, it was actually pretty crazy the fire alarm went off while we were dining but we were able to get back in and continue our dinner after safety clearance. The seating is great for groups or even date night. I wish it was closer, but I loved the food and will be back sometime! I highly recommend.

Yelp
The kids, husband, and I were at this area in San Ramon one evening and decided to stop by Bamboo Sushi for dinner. They didn't have any tables for us at first since they were reserved, but I put my info down on the waiting list, and they called about an hour later saying our table is ready. While waiting, we did some shopping and walked around the center. Nice interior and good space, fairly large-ish Japanese restaurant in comparison to many others around the area. We were seated toward the back, and it felt pretty comfortable, and we got to see outside through the window. They had a kids menu, and our son ordered from that, along with a side of broccoli. They didn't deliver on that until we mentioned it, and they brought the broccoli along with the check, near the time we were about done with dinner. Other than that, my son was OK with the food. He enjoyed the chicken and California roll. Overall, the prices don't quite match with the taste and quality of the food. I ordered a roll and their maitake mushroom appetizer, and both were just OK. the mushroom was a bit mushier than anticipated, and the flavoring was watered down. Maitake can be sooooo delicious, but this one missed the mark. The rainbow roll I tried was just alright. Fish quality wasn't the best, and I was expecting more for a roll over $20. The husband got their burger, and it came with chips. The kids enjoyed the chips, and the husband thought the burger was alright. Our daughter tried their miso glazed black cod since she's usually good with cooked fish and she likes miso, but somehow this dish was a huge turnoff for her. I ended up eating most of it just to help her out and that it doesn't go to waste. It wasn't the best miso black cod I've had, but it wasn't as terrible as my daughter claimed for it to be. We ended the meal with their black sesame brownie. It was pretty good for what it was, but if advertising black sesame, I'd thought there would be that ice cream as opposed to vanilla, but the flavors did work out really well together. Drinks were decent here, and I can see myself coming back here to try happy hour, if I was closer. Overall, would come back, but wouldn't be my first choice for a sushi and such.

Yelp
Came here earlier tonight, party of 2, weeknight for dinner around 6:30 pm, no reservations. Our order: 3 nigiris (amberjack, coho salmon, seared king salmon - all give or take $10 each), the citrus salmon crispy rice ($16), the chargrilled octopus ($26), and the wagyu burger with egg ($23) medium rare. Total was $104 before tip. Pros: - This is one of the restaurants on Resy, so it's a great option to use your quarterly Amex platinum $100 credit! (that's what we did and it made the experience a lot better for us in my opinion haha) - Pretty fast and quick service, from the hostess who sat us and the servers. I have heard that this experience may be different on a weekend (and we did come early enough to beat the dinner rush) - I would recommend a reservation on the weekend. They kept our waters filled the whole time and checked in on us the right number of times - My favorites were the amberjack nigiri, and the sauce that the octopus dishes came with! It actually paired really well with the chips that come with the wagyu burger. The amberjack flavor was really unique and the fish was really tender, and the octopus also had a really great texture with great sauce - this octopus almost felt on par with octopus in Greece! - A more upscale vibe inside - perfect for date night or a more boujee friend dinner experience, but casual enough where you won't feel weird wearing shorts or jeans. - Unique dishes - you should come here expecting a Japanese-American fusion place, NOT so much a typical sushi place (or else you'll be disappointed at the prices). Cons: - the wagyu burger was really well priced and the meat was great, but a little too greasy for my taste. But overall pretty good value for your money, since it's one of the "cheaper" items on the menu for the quantity of food you get - Portions might feel "smaller" than what you're expecting for the price, so I would recommend looking at photos ahead of time! Overall, I actually had a really positive experience here, and I liked the variety of things on the menu to try. I honestly think that if people think the portions are too small or things feel overpriced - you're probably ordering the wrong things that don't line up with your interests. I think the octopus and nigiri were particularly delicious with "typical" seafood prices. Keep in mind that despite the "sushi" in its name, it's not the typical East Bay local sushi joint, even though they do have rolls. Would not mind coming back here for a special celebration!

Yelp
I ordered takeout from Bamboo Sushi which seemed efficient. Their sushi is a little different than other sushi spots and definitely has some unique ingredients such as apple in the Garden of Eden. Personally, I didn't care for the Garden of Eden roll, but tried it as it appears to be a popular choice. The Green machine was my favorite and I'd get that again. The other two were good but not amazing. I think I'd come back, perhaps in person, to experience the sushi here at its freshest, but it wasn't bad to go either.

Yelp
Great sushi place in the heart of citi center in San ramon! Really long since ate sushi at any restaurant, came with few friends and the service was quick and the ambience was lovely. We tried Friday the 13th and green machine (veggie) and both were perfectly crisp with the flavors melting in your mouth!! Amazing place , will visit again with family!!

Yelp
Walked in around 6pm on a Friday and the restaurant was pretty empty. Asked if we could sit anywhere and the hostess rudely responded no, that all the tables were reserved. She escorted us to the bar where it's open seating. We ordered the salmon entree which had fantastic flavor, and the miso cod which was nice as well. Can't remember the name of the sushi roll we ordered, but our server said it was a local favorite. Food came out fast, but unfortunately the hostess/server never gave us any utensils, napkins or plates so we had to ask a couple times, they apologized for the oversight. We asked our server for the bill, and said she'd be right back with it...20 min later still standing at the end of the bar talking to some people, guess she forgot. We had to ask the bartender to help get our bill, finally our server came over to our side and we were able to pay after 30 min waiting. Place is ok if you're at city center and want Japanese.

Yelp
Bamboo Sushi isn't my favorite spot to get sushi but its always quick and easy when you're at City Center Bishop Ranch. They have unique dishes with vibrant flavors at a higher price point. I do love their miso caesar salad toppped with rice crackers, its a large portion and perfect to share. The sea bream tiradito had a good amount of sea bream sashimi in the plate surrounded by a vibrant spicy sauce that I really enjoyed. The Green Machine roll and Rivers and Steams roll are good choices with different flavors that you'd find at other sushi restaurants.

Yelp
Bamboo Sushi is located on the upper level in The Lot shopping center, and it definitely wins points for aesthetics. It's a really cute, modern space with a chill vibe and a solid cocktail selection--great spot if you're just looking to grab a drink and a light bite. Service was okay--not bad, not amazing. Everyone was polite and the basics were covered, but nothing stood out. We ordered the spicy edamame, calamari, the rainbow roll, tuna nigiri, bamboo dragon roll, and the triple sorbet. Surprisingly, the highlights of the meal were the sorbet and the tuna nigiri. The rice in the nigiri had a great flavor that really stood out, and the sorbet was a refreshing way to end the meal. On the downside, the sauces were super salty--especially the calamari dipping sauce and even the soy sauce. The roll selection felt limited, and what we did try just lacked flavor. It wasn't horrible, but definitely didn't leave me excited to come back. Overall, it's a nice space with a decent drink menu, but when it comes to sushi, I've had better for the price.

Yelp
Bamboo Sushi is located in the City Center Bishop Ranch. There is parking in the attached garage or in the lots surrounding this center. Walked in and was greeted by an employee, we were seated shortly afterwards. We ordered a couple of California Rolls, Salmon Roll, and Snow Crab Nigiri. Each California Roll pieces were huge - tasted decent for what it was. The salmon was eh and a bit on the fishier side, and all of the salmon portions were different size - ranging from a tiny portion to so much salmon that it came out of the roll. The crab nigiri did not taste that fresh - also there was a long piece of hair on it (funny, I did not catch it at first when I was eating it, but when I went back to the photo I took, it was there). It was a bit difficult to flag our waitress back down, so we just took the L. Overall, the ambience /atmosphere is modern, and good for date nights and special occasions. Unfortunately, the food quality / taste was not. Pretty pricey for what you get.

Yelp
Hostess was being strange- kept giving us excuses why we could not put our name down- She said there was a 15 min wait and that the service could be slow and that they were trying to hurry people along. And kept repeating it several Times. It was the weirdest interaction- it felt Like Julia Roberts in pretty women where the ladies on rodeo drive would not help her. On to the food- it's creative fusion- most options are spicy. No substitutions for our one kiddo which is fine but beware almost everything has spicy in the ingredient list. Quality of the fish was ok- some was dry or a little fishy. Tried the miso cod- descent, chirashi bowl- ok, salmon flight-pretty good but would not add the fatty belly again. ( habanero mango my fav) hoki poki - delicious and spicy. Don't order the cucumbers- so blah, honestly the worst I have ever had. Overall we enjoyed the experience but think the prices are high for the quality of the fish we received.

Yelp
The food is really underwhelming. The appetizer fried calamari was way too seasoned and salty. We ate without the sauce which was salty and a bit too much of a citric taste. Same for the sushi and the better part of the meal was the chicken. They were really busy so the food took quite awhile to get to us - the wait staff and host were attentive to the table. The restaurant has an open kitchen which is great to see how your food is prepared.

Yelp
Clean modern decor. Food is always fresh. I love their craft cocktails. Happy hour menu offers great sushi. Bartenders, hostesses, and servers are friendly and accommodating. The last time we were there, we were waiting to be seated at the bar. The hostess told us seats would be available soon because her parents were just finishing dinner and seats wood be available. We ended up sitting next to her parents and had the best time talking with them. They were the cutest couple and the hostess (their daughter) was the same (good folks).

Yelp
Good food good vibes and an app called inKind. Poetry baby. Came here for early dinner and had the $40 Chirashi Bowl and $18 Sunset roll. Paid through the inKind app and got 20% back. Friendly staff. Gets sunny in the space when we were there late afternoon. Recommend going once the sun is lower. Overall good experience Yelpers!

Yelp
Still frequenting Bamboo Sushi 2 years later. Yummy yummy yummy! Thank you staff and management (shout out Eric and Eleanor) for always keeping me fed and safe - celiacs, this is the safest place you can eat in the Bay Area. The miso soup is my fave! They use fish broth. Ofc we always get the spicy tuna, and I love that they use such a great water filter !!!! Most restaurants are serving you unfiltered tap water. Not Bamboo Sushi though. Only the best here. Be sure to make a reservation if you intend on dinning, because they're always BUSY!

Yelp
Good sushi. We got a variety of rolls to go since it was packed on Mothers Day eve. I was surprised they had good veg options and we got a variety. I got the pickled veggie one and it was yummy. The wasabi that came with it was good but the ginger lacking in flavor a bit. Super affordable prices. Would visit again if in the area.

Yelp
Amazing! It was our second visit. Christian hosted us at the bar and was friendly and accommodating. We met their manager, Eric, who also was very hospitable and went out of his way to check on our experience. Hats off to our sushi chef, Gabriel! We asked if they could make the rolls with cucumber (keto / low carb) and omit the rice. Gabriel knew how to do this and knocked it out the park!!! We all certainly be back as the rolls and service are outstanding!

Yelp
This review is long overdue! I'm going to preface this review with I never spend $20+ on a sushi roll. I typically go to sushi restaurants that don't charge $20+ for rolls BUT I have to say I had a roll here that was absolutely worth the price. No seriously it was the best sushi roll I've ever had I crave it all the time now. I ordered the sunset roll and subbed spicy tuna with spicy albacore . I couldn't believe how fresh and flavorful the roll was. The only request I have is to allow modifications on Uber eats so I can put in the notes to cut thin and sub the fish. It doesn't allow you to do that on the app which limits me from ordering delivery ugh. Please change that! I'd order weekly.

Yelp
The sushi is super fresh and of excellent quality. My favorite items to order are: -Crispy rice (spicy tuna and salmon) -Chicken Karaage -Wasabi Honey Chicken -King Salmon Sashimi -Coho Salmon Sashimi -The Unicorn roll -Holiday Poki Box Certain roles are marked as MSC and ASC to identify certified sustainable and certified responsible. Service is always great. I tried the Davy Jones' Locker (white rum, ube, coconut, lime, ginger beer) but was not too impressed. It tasted like cough medicine.

Yelp
I went to Bamboo Sushi with a small group of my friends and was so happy with the entire experience. The restaurant is located inside City Center Bishop Ranch, a massive premium retail and dining area in San Ramon. There is ample free parking, making it a breeze to get in and out for a quick bite or even a long, romantic dinner. The restaurant itself is a wide open area, with tables, booth seating, and a sushi bar where you can watch the chefs. We went on a Sunday evening and the vibe inside was great. Low key, chill, but fun and friendly. The food is top tier. I love sushi and have eaten at many great places over the years, and Bamboo Sushi goes toe to toe with most of them. We got so many things, and all were good, but the standouts were the Rainbow roll, the Unicorn roll, the Hamachi nigiri, the Tuna Zuke, and the Salmon crudo. The fish was delicious, fresh, and prepared with care and presentation. You can see it in the pictures! The chefs at Bamboo Sushi really put some effort into making the food look as good as it tastes. On the service front, I was very happy to have a friendly and attentive waiter and host. They took orders for drinks and food quickly, got our orders out to us without a wait, and were generally just on the ball with whatever we needed. It made it easy for us to focus on each other, the food, and having an incredible night. Solid spot, would definitely go again if I were ever out in this area.

Yelp
Stopped by on a weekday afternoon with a party of five, and we practically had the place to ourselves! With the restaurant being quiet, the service was incredibly attentive, making our dining experience even better. The sushi was phenomenal. So fresh, so flavorful. If you're unsure what to order, I highly recommend trying one of their curated platters. It's the perfect way to sample a variety of their best offerings. Overall, a fantastic spot for quality sushi and great service. I'd definitely come back!

Yelp
definitely one of my favorite Japanese restaurants. This is the only restaurant to my knowledge in the rat bay which is purely gluten free except for their burger. My daughter has celiac. She has no issues eating here.

Yelp
We just had a great dinner at Bamboo Sushi this weekend. The staff was accommodating of us sitting outside with our dog, as they were mainly seating guests inside at the time we arrived. The staff is very friendly and pretty attentive to stop by and check in on us every so often. We were so hungry that I only managed to snap a pic of our appetizer - spicy edamame, which was in fact spicy but also warm and comforting. We also ordered the bamboo dragon roll, sunset roll, and chili garlic chicken entree. Both rolls were really good! A bit spicy but with lots of flavor. The garlic chicken was good too, but it was only two small pieces of chicken with a ton of green beans for $20. If we hadn't ordered a side of rice ($4!!) with it, it wouldn't have been filling. They also don't offer free soda refills - so if you want another glass of Coke, you pay $4 again. I think the concept on those last two points could be reconsidered by management. The sushi rolls were fairly priced, but the entrees are not. Lastly, they also offer 3 types of curated experiences, based on how many people are in your party, with the simplest one priced at $120. For a special occasion, that may be nice to try out. Overall the food here is very tasty - prices are just on the high side, which is typical of this area. If you're looking for a nice sit-down sushi dinner with a lovely environment, this is your place!

Yelp
Picked up some food from Bamboo sushi on Saturday while attending the concert at Bishop Ranch mall. It was ready quickly. We got the green machine vegetarian sushi which was DELICIOUS! I loved the cilantro sauce on it. The crispy rice smashed avocado was great too. The cucumber salad was meh. I wish they had more locations on the Peninsula because I would love to go back for the green machine!

Yelp
We went here last Saturday for my birthday. We have been going to Bamboo Sushi since it first opened and have been through the various iterations of its menu. Besides the food, what keeps us coming back is the manager, Erik. We have know Erik for more than a decade (we figured this out on Saturday), when we used to go to another sushi restaurant that is no longer in business. Erik is what you want in a manager if you own a restaurant. He is welcoming and appreciative of his customers. He always goes over and above to ensure that you have the best experience and if it isn't right, he will fix it. We will keep on coming back to Bamboo Sushi knowing that we will always have a great experience.

Yelp
Excellent Christmas meal for a friend visiting from out of state. We went to town with the menu and ate the entire cast of Little Nemo. A special shout out to Thea and Lorena for exceptional service during our celebration meal! We will definitely will be back.

Yelp
We love this restaurant very very much every time we go it's incredible. We're so lucky to have it in our town and our waitress named. Ella could not be more amazing and the food is excellent. The cocktails are amazing everything about it is wonderful. Very very good restaurant and Ella is the best.

Yelp
Service was great! We dropped chopsticks and she heard us LOL we got a new pair right away. Food was tasty! We got a variety of things to try- sesame green beans, octopus carpaccio, chirashi bowl and a sushi roll- the unicorn. I also got their signature Old Fashion. It was very smooth and tasty. Cute little sushi place on the 2nd floor. They have sushi bar seating, tables and outside tables too. Parking is the garage or front parking by Marugame.

Yelp
I have dined at Bamboo Sushi a few times and it has been satisfyingly good. Very fresh fish, unique cocktails and knowledgeable servers. It's a bit on the pricey side for a mall sushi spot, but you get what you pay for. These photos on this post are from getting take out.

Yelp
I was looking for a sushi place I haven't been before so I came here. The restaurant seemed very inviting and the place settings looked really nice and fancy. Ordered two of the Signature Sashimi dishes: the Albacore Crispy Onion, and the Hamachi Sizzle. Both dishes were SO AMAZING and very delicious! The combination of the yuzu ponzu, crispy onions, garlic aioli, and chervil on top of the albacore went so well together! Loved it! The garlic, hot oil, and ponzu with the hamachi were so good together as well! I'm not a fan of ginger, but the couple of slivers of ginger with the chives on the hamachi did not distract from the overall taste of everything. Very good. For dessert, I ordered the black sesame brownie. It was SO good! Loved how it came with a generous scoop of ice cream, berries, and black sesames sprinkled all over! I could taste the black sesame in the brownie, and I loved how it was chewy. (One thing to note about the brownie: it was a little hard for my spoon to cut into the brownie to eat. I had to stab and wiggle my spoon into the brownie to cut into. But, it was worth the effort. ) The zero proof drinks caught my eye and I ordered the Island Time because I love pineapples. It was good and refreshing! Very pretty, too! Service was good as well! Loved my server Abby and appreciated her help and suggestions with the menu. I also appreciated the attentiveness of the other staff as they took my plates away and refilled my water once it was low.

Yelp
The restaurant is cute and comfortable. The wait staff are friendly and helpful. They kept our water glasses full. We ordered spicy edamame (so good!) and two rolls. They were good sized. They brought us extra (fake) wasabi. You can get the real thing if you pay extra for it.

Yelp
It was a great place to have lunch and get out of the heat. They have 2 seating sections: tables and a bar. It's definitely kid friendly as well although they don't have a kids menu. My daughter ordered miso soup with extra tofu and shrimp tempura. I ordered a California hand roll and the salmon flight. The salmon belly was definitely the highlight of that flight even though it costs extra for it. The extra cost was worth it! My husband ordered the wagyu burger and Tuna appetizer. Overall, the food was delicious. However we found this menu to be lacking. They don't serve unagi, o-toro, chu-toro, and most of the sushi rolls were spicy. Our server was quick and attentive. She was very kind and approachable! She also explained the types of salmon in the dish.

Yelp
We are gluten free and finding safe sushi that doesn't make us sick is SO difficult. This place has a fantastic menu, both in quality, diversity of options, and all but one thing on the menu is gluten free! Ella was our server and she was friendly and attentive. The food was super quick and affordable as heck!! We will absolutely be back!!

Yelp
Came here to see and hang out with co-workers. Nice place to hang out and eat at Bishop Ranch. The place had nice decor with interesting painted ceiling, very pretty. Sushi were good enough. They were just easily fallling apart when trying to pick them up with chopsticks. Wagyu burger patties were huge, thick. The drinks were very good, strong and pretty. The staff were very fun to talk to and very nice.

Yelp
Bamboo is a favorite sushi restaurant for our family here in San Ramon. We love the food and excellent service each time. My kids especially enjoy dining in because of the ambiance and friendly staff. It's our family's go-to local date night spot!

Yelp
this place is amazing. their food is so good. I got the green machine which is vegan and it is one of the best rolls i've ever had. I am a huge sushi lover but even the vegan roll which no sushi is outstanding and I would get it every time. the flavor is incredible. the tempura cauliflower is also super good. the sauce and spices add such yummy flavors and it's fried to perfection. my boyfriend got the bamboo dragon and really liked it. I also tried it and thought it was great and light! even though this place is on the pricier side, it's so worth it. i'm always thinking about the green machine. service was great and everything came out really fast!

Yelp
The service and food here are phenomenal!! We loved all 3 rolls we ordered and the waiters were all so nice and always checking in on us. We came here on Saturday around 4:30 and it was not busy. Great sushi spot if you're in the area or already walking around the lot. This restaurant does not accept cash, clean restaurant and bathrooms, always a plus too!
