Love this Japanese spot. We have been coming here for over 20 years and the quality and freshness of the food is excellent. Everything we’ve had here has been delicious. Its a order first then find a seat place. Casual but decent. Not super busy most times we come but consistent flow of customer. Wait time to order and get food is not long at all. I dont think we’ve ever had to wait longer than 5 minutes for our food. My go to is the 2 item combo with all salad (i love their dressing!) with shrimp tempura and either sesame chicken or beef teriyaki. Also, love their tempura fried ice cream dessert! 10/10 would reccommend!!

I’m so sorry to say but I ordered for pick up last Friday I was extremely disappointed. I had enjoyed eating from here a few times before and I was excited to show my daughter how good it was. Sadly, after this experience she wasn’t impressed and I don’t think I’ll be going back either. I ordered 2 shrimp tempura rolls and a California crunch roll. The shrimp tempura had the smallest piece of shrimp with a couple of shreds of cucumber and layer after layer of rice. The pieces were so big we struggled placing each piece in our mouth and all we could taste was white rice. I spent $36 for what seemed like just rice. The California roll wasn’t too bad, but as you can see from my pictures the shrimp tempura roll lost my business. Update: I was able to get ahold of someone through email and I have to say, their customer service was great! Not only did they reply quickly, they asked for feedback so that they could address the issue with the cooks, and finally they gave me a gift card for the amount of my first 2 rolls, which allowed me to try the rolls again. The 1st 2 pics are of the 1st rolls and the last picture is from the second meal, which was definitely better. Overall, I appreciate the prompt response, and it willingness to make things right. Thank you Mr Reiko Ota.

Absolutely lovely family-owned spot, they were very fast, the food was very good, and I was soooo hungry!!! They were very nice and sweet people, they have been in business a long time, I can see why: the food is very tasty, and they are both fast and friendly! I had a great experience and will stop by again when in the area, loved loved loved the food 😜🫶❤️

Google
First time eating at this restaurant. I ordered the 3 item bento with beef and salmon teriyaki and shrimp tempura. For sides, I opted for the noodles and miso. Everything is very tasty except the miso soup was pretty bland. I also ordered the salmon with mango roll, it was mediocre. I would love to try this place again because they've been on business for 40years. This hole on the wall is very clean and has good vibe.

Google
Sad to see this place like this. Use to eat here all the time. I recently purchased food from here that came to $99. When I tell you it was a rip off I’m so serious. Once we opened up everything I was like where is the $99 worth of food. First of all the guy taking the order was so rude. He kept rushing me, every time I ordered something he wouldn’t even wait to listen to see if I was ordering more he wouldn’t even wait. Then quickly before I could finish saying what I was saying he would blurt out “anything else” real fast. So then I ordered 2 so called happy hour appetizers and they were not happy hour prices. Way too expensive to be called happy hour. I ordered 3 chicken and rice bowls one beef and rice bowl one beef plate and that comes with 2 sides. So I figured the white rice would be in there with the meat on top then the two sides I ordered were noodles and salad. Well apparently they have gotten so cheap that the 1 of the sides would be what is under the meat my order didn’t have white rice like it should have and so my meal was ruined from that point on. They literally just put 6 tiny pieces of beef on the noodles and had a little bit of salad in the corner spot of the to go container. The beef in the beef bowl and plate was nothing but fat as well. The meat wasn’t even meaty and the little 6 pieces on the plate was insulting. Also after ordering all that and paying that ridiculous price can you believe they only put two tiny little containers of extra teriyaki sauce in the bag. This was absolutely ridiculous and the food was mediocre. I feel like I was robbed for $99. It was horrible. The noodles were gross the meat was just a bunch of fat and they had nerve calling it angus beef so they can charge you your life savings lol. This place has definitely gone downhill.

Google
No frills Japanese restaurant. I kind of expected more but got less. I ordered chicken udon and a ito en cold green tea. The udon broth was too intense for my taste. I was completely disappointed by the udon. You can tell from the picture that the sauce is off. Service was ok. They have ample parking in front.

Google
What a gem in our city! This Japanese spot has been running for 38 years with the owners still there.. working and cooking behind the counter. The mini bowl is filling and delicious, I also had their Gyozas & Yakitori which were both good appetizers. Would come back

Google
Fast, fresh, and super friendly! Bamboo Teri House in Long Beach really impressed me with their quick service and delicious food. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and the portions did not disappoint. If you’re hungry, the combo meals are a great deal and come with plenty of food. I’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
The Chicken Katsu Curry was pretty good! This was my first time coming here with my family and i'm a big fan of asian food. The service here was great, the lady was very nice and sweet. I would go here again with my partner so we can try new things! I also like the music they played here, overall it's a really good restaurant and nothing bad.

Eric R.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Customer service was amazing! Ambiance hit! Recommend. Will be back!

Yelp
I love this place I haven't been here in around 4 years because I moved but I came back and I tasted just like I remembered. I had the Cold tempura soba and the katsu curry and both were very flavorful. The service was great staff was attentive and very respectful.

Yelp
Bamboo Teri House has been serving the Long Beach community for over forty years and it's something that we need to continue to support! While they do have sushi rolls that you could sample at a discount for happy hour before 5pm, it's the teriyaki and Japanese Curry that I crave from here. For a little over $30 on a Tuesday, I was able to get (1) a "Funtastic Tempura Bowl" ($12.60) for shrimp/vegetable tempura, teriyaki chicken, rice, and noodles, (2) a teriyaki chicken bowl ($12.50), and (3) a plate of vegetable tempura with six pieces ($6). This was easily enough for my wife and I, and we felt that it was a great value. I intend to take my coworkers here with me on weekday happy hour before 5pm for some appetizers and $14 Sapporo pitchers. Overall, I think they have pretty filling rice bowls, and I hope that this place stands for another forty years; however, that will depend on the community continuing to support it!

Yelp
BTH has been a place for quality food and incredible service for decades!! This staff is consistently provides friendly service. I've been coming here since my college days and it continues to be a taste of nostalgia. Thank you BTH!!

Yelp
I've been coming here my whole life and they've been so consistent and welcoming. Teri House istg highlight and a must every time I come to Long Beach, no exception. They are amazing.

Yelp
This is my FAVORITE Japanese restaurant to go to! I work nearby and all of us get it at least once or twice a week for lunch. They're always so kind, very mom and pop feel. And the food is great quality, not something you normally see with a place that has such a huge menu. Inside it's very homey and the decor is quirky which I love.
google avatar

Yelp
Bamboo Teri house is a Long Beach staple. It's a small Mom and Pop shop that is packed with a punch. You can come here and get a 5 course meal for under 15 bucks. Steal! Make sure you check out their lunch specials. You can get a little bit of everything. This isn't a fancy joint but guaranteed good, cheap meal. I love the woman who runs the front. She is the sweetest and is so warm and welcoming. Stop by here and check them out! Watch out for the limited parking. It's on a small strip mall with not much parking

Yelp
Solid little spot for some affordable, delicious eats. Crowded and a little cluttered, this place gives off some longstanding lowkey local vibes. But remember, you're not coming for some super chic ambiance, you're coming to fill your belly in this economy. Their ichiban dinner special has a whole lotta variety for ~$16: chicken teriyaki on rice, katsu, some tempura, a couple maki, a gyoza, a spring roll, and seaweed salad all neatly packed in a bento. I got the Super Bowl (~$14), which was chicken teriyaki, two pieces of tempura, a couple pieces of their sesame chicken (bomb), and steamed veggies. I was expecting more than two baby carrots and a broccoli floret for my veggies, but shouldn't complain -- they were very generous with the protein. The Mini Bowl (~$9) had rice, yakisoba, chicken teriyaki, and sesame chicken as well. It seemed like a good amount of food for a reasonable price tag. All together, our family of 4 was able to eat for about $60. Supporting a local business in the process? That's definitely a win.

Yelp
On one hand, I want to gate keep this place because I don't want it to get too crowded. However, I need them to stay open so I have to share. I've been going to Bamboo Teri House for over 24 years. I love sushi and no matter where I go. I always compare any new sushi I'm trying to Bamboo Terri House. Always fresh, always prepared well with the perfect amount of seasonings for all their dishes. The way they add the tempura to make any sushi roll crunchy is perfection. I don't want to start naming the rolls because they are all so yummy! I've never had a bad roll here. Even though they went up on the pricing, it's still very reasonable. You can get some great deals with their specials or happy hour. It's small but quaint. They always keep everything clean and they periodically update the decor. I will keep coming back here for the sushi, the noodles, salad, miso soup, teriyaki chicken, tempura, etc. By the way, the tempura here is crunchy and not greasy, simply delicious. The staff is consistently awesome. If you know you know! They are one of the best!

Yelp
Great food and service, very clean and good ambiance, as they have always had in the 25 years we have been coming here!

Yelp
We discovered BTH during their 40th anniversary special and have been back many times since. Tempura Tuesday is our favorite (great value!) and their happy hour deals are great too (food & drinks). The tempura is some of the best I've ever tasted. I love the Japanese curry with tofu and our 5 year old started eating sushi here for the first time! She likes the super shrimp roll. My husband is slowly making his way through the menu. Our only wish they offered hh on the weekends ;)

Yelp
Staff: They were incredibly helpful, friendly, and a pleasure to be helped by. Quality/Quantity: The food was delicious with fair portion size. Everything was fresh and tasted well seasoned. No complaints only a happy belly for all of us. Value: Fair and I like with other places. Overall: Really happy with the experience and will continue to come here as I have for the past 20 years or so. The place was packed so I am happy to see them doing well. Pro tip: They now have poke bowls. Really good! I would only suggest they offer cold or hot rice with it. Some prefer one or the other.

Yelp
The best sushi spot in Long Beach maybe even all of LA! The crunchy rolls are always perfect. And they always bring the holiday spirit, especially around Christmas. You guys gotta come check them out!

Yelp
Bamboo Teri House was the favorite restaurant that the lovely missus frequented when she was working in Long Beach. That was many many years ago and we have been back several times. Today was that occasion where we were exploring the Bixby Knolls area and the missus abruptly said "Bamboo Teri House". Parked right up front and we were met with friendly smiles by perhaps 2nd or 3rd generations from the original family Mr. Joji Ota. The place is definitely still running smoothly. The missus orders the 2 combi plate of Chicken Teri with mixed Tempura, green salad and pan fried Noodles. I ordered the identical but added Full CA Roll and help yourself fountain drinks. We were assigned #8 for a dining table inside. The CA Roll was a plumpy right mix ratio of crab/avocado/sticky rice. Our mokunochi type tray was filled with fresh greens and edamamy and slivered thin cucumbers. The pan fried noodles were a simple preparation that had onion, julienne carrots and a nice touch of shredded cabbage. On the corner we have the sweet potato and a big chunk of zuchini and a couple of long cut shrimp all in panko batter. The main entree of tender grilled chicken strips was covered by an extra coating of sweet and thick teriyaki sauce. We helped ourselves to another cup of drinks as well as a couple of wrapped Fortune Cookies on the counter. The service was outstanding and the orders we had came quickly. A very happy memories filled dining experience as we shared some stories with the young family members. We won't wait so long before going back to the Bamboo Teri House..

Yelp
There was a time in my life when I frequented Teri House quite often, and here I was in the neighborhood ready to eat for nostalgia's sake. The menu has pretty generous offerings of all sorts of Japanese fare. Any craving you might have can definitely be satiated here. I ordered the chicken katsu curry ($13.07). The chicken katsu was lightly battered, keeping the chicken nice and moist. It sat on top of a bed of rice - the kind that reminds me of sushi rice. They keep the curry separate to prevent the katsu from getting soggy which seems logical, but this isn't always the case. The katsu curry was giving what it needed to give and I was here for it. My friend also ordered the 3 item combo plate ($16.78): chicken teriyaki, California roll, and shrimp tempura (+$1). The plates come with rice, pan fried noodles, salad and miso soup. Granted everything fits neatly into a styrofoam box, but still - so much variety for what you pay. Everything in the combo box was excellent. Each single item was high qual. No complaints whatsoever. If you're looking for a quick and easy lunch, make Bamboo Teri House your stop.

Yelp
I love the cold soba and tempura combination. The tempura is crispy and served while hot. Yum. The soba and dipping sauce have a perfect Japanese flavors. This restaurant has been a local standard for decades. The staff is always positive when you interact with them.

Yelp
I've been coming here for 30+ years & even though I no longer live in Long Beach I'll drive the 30 mins pretty often to come here. It's literally one of my favorite eateries ever! Staff is so polite & helpful, it's a fun atmosphere inside, but it's really all about the food. Everything is great but the unique dishes you need to try are their sesame chicken (no one else makes it this good), tempura dishes are phenomenal, and the pan-fried noodles are not to be missed (order double, because one helping is not enough). Also their miso soup is the most delicious and I love that I got introduced to Jasmine Green Tea here (cold in the bottle)!! Give this legendary spot a try!!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food, great service, and friendly wait staff. We tried a new item, fried calamari. Sooooo good. The dipping sauce is addictive. We also ordered the two item combo which is a healthy portion, and the option to pick sides is great. Bamboo Teri House is our go to for Japanese food.
google avatar

Laarni L.

Yelp
A local fave! Easy plaza parking. Casual dining . Order at the counter first before taking your seat. Customer service was appropriate. We ordered the chicken curry, chicken katsu curry (came with side salad) and the happy hour price for the California roll, spicy tuna roll. Curry is yummy! Katsu had great texture. The rolls were fresh, good as well. The individual pieces were a slightly on bigger side, my cheeks were big, I looked like a chipmunk when I was eating them lololol. Great chill spot. Bring the fam!
google avatar

Yuiko K.

Yelp
Happy 40th Anniversary! The restaurant was wonderfully decorated for the anniversary and the service from the staff was excellent, and most importantly, the katsu curry was very tasty !! I highly recommend Bamboo Teri House!

Yelp
So me and my mother go to this place all the time and we love it! It feels very family oriented and peaceful. The staff is so friendly they treat you like family. The food is ...it is soo good! The sushi is one of MY favorite and if you plan on going, allow me to recommend the "Super Shrimp Roll" and the "Spicy Tuna Roll". They have great sushi selection if you like sushi made fresh everyday! I just left there so check out my pictures attached to this review. Oh yeah I get the katsu chicken bowl which is really good! They got good salad also...the calamari salad and BBQ chicken salad is good! Pretty much everything is good here! Try it out guys! You will love it! Oh yeah the restaurant itself is so cozy and warm...it feels like home in your own living room.

Cassiopeia A.

Yelp
Had the chicken katsu curry. It was insanely good and comforting, perfect for this rainy day. Service was wonderful as well. :)

Yelp
Well, we finally made it!!! We live 5 minutes away, always pass it but never stopped to eat there. I actually made plans to go there for dinner last night and I am so glad that we did. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were greeted. The servers were so friendly and their interaction with the customers were very welcoming. Also, the restaurant is very clean. Our server, I'm sorry I didn't get his name was very patient with us. It was our first time there, and the menu had a lot of options. He informed us of the Tuesday and daily specials which we tried, we also ordered from the regular and sushi menu. The food came out in a timely basis. All four of us were so surprised as to how good the food was because we didn't have any expectations, we had about 7 to 8 different dishes. The pricing was very affordable, and the portions were bigger than average. We left there very content and full. Our family will definitely return to try the other dishes.

Yelp
This is one of the only places within 20 miles that has a really good oyako donburi available at lunch time.
