I feel compelled to give a poor review. In my opinion, Bamboo Wok is the absolute worst Chinese food in the city of Tallahassee. The Kung Po Chicken was finely diced breaded, deep fried, not stir fried. It is not supposed to be breaded. The peanuts were not cooked with the food. They simply sprinkled them on the top. Most places put whole dried chili peppers in, they used graded.
It neither smelled nor tasted like Kung Po Chicken. The rice was simply colored. It didn't look or taste like fried rice. They obviously avoided the correct cooking process and took short cuts in the preparation of this food.
You can tell a good Chinese / Asian Fusion restaurant by the number of repeat Asian patrons. I doubt many, if at all, any Asians return here. These meals appeared to be prepared with 0 pride in the culture. After the food sat in the car for a few minutes, I noticed the only thing I could smell was stale oil. I doubt they change the oil in their deep fat frier enough. This was absolute garbage. I didn't even keep it. I threw it out once home.
For authentic Chinese food, go to Blossom Kitchen on Tennessee St. If you want authentic Chinese and some American Chinese foods, go to Flavor Treasure on Tennessee and Ocala. There is usually a long wait, a limited menu, and seating. Jiust order take out prior to going to FT.
If you want Chinese food with a pleasant atmosphere, Chinese, go to either Masa on North Monroe or Dao Restaurant off Bannerman. Azu Lucie Ho's off Appalachee is good, depending on who is cooking that day. I have rarely been disappointed in the places I suggested.
