"Go off the beaten Thai track with northeastern appetizers such as chicken wings and homemade sausage. It’s miang kham (Betel leaves topped with toasted coconut flakes, diced ginger, lime, lemongrass, red onion, peanuts, dried shrimp, Thai chili, and sweet palm sugar-tamarind paste), rolled and eaten in one big bite, is a great starter." - Didi Paterno

Google
I ordered the yellow curry and edamame and I was honestly disappointed. I love ordering yellow curry at Thai restaurants, but here the yellow curry felt like it was more coconut milk than anything so it was kinda bland and the edamame was very light on the salt (which wasn’t as bad too me). My husband really loved his ceviche and the Stir-Fried Seafood though. The service was good, they were very prompt and refilled our waters often.

Google
We have a amazing party of close to 40 Foodies and Bambu serves us with their amamzing IZAN Thai cusines and we all love it. The desert is also so good. Thanks Shelley and Jason. Will definitely be coming back

Brenda Araiza

Google
The curry, even though I asked for medium spice, was extremely spicy and completely inedible. When I brought it to their attention and mentioned that the spice level was too high to eat, they dismissed my concern and told me it was my problem. To make matters worse, they simply handed me a to-go container. This was my first and definitely my last visit!

Edward Lujan

Google
Seated quickly friendly waiter it looks quite pretty inside. Had summer rolls as an appetizer then ordered pad kee Mao you can ask to make things spicier and medium was a nice spice ended with sticky mango rice it was my first time having it and it was delicious!

Natalie Moubayed

Google
AMAZING food! Flavors were so unique. Not like traditional Thai restaurants but all flavors and combinations my husband, friends and I thoroughly enjoyed. Family run business. Service was exceptional. Always served and took the time to explain what it was and how it should be eaten. We ordered family style so everyone can taste a variety of dishes. That’s what I recommend you do as well. Go try it out! You won’t be disappointed but instead be transported to northern Thailand. .

Google
We had the most amazing time at Bambuu, delicious food, nice atmosphere, super friendly and fast service. We loved the steamed sea bass, Esan sausage, chicken liver, and their papaya salad is 2d4. Highly recommend to all the foodies.

Ian J.

Google
Our new favorite Thai restaurant. The service is friendly and the waitress made some awesome recommendations so we try some new dishes. The cured sausage/meat was very good. The fried rice was a surprise. Didn’t expect fried rice to be so tasty. LOL. The desserts were creative and more transitional ones were great. Check it out.

Google
If I cooked Thai food, I would hope it would taste exactly like this incredible meal. I ordered 1 in heatness…their scale is 1-3…and I found it to be a 0. Maybe my tastebuds are getting braver…hahaha. We got there early just two couples and when we left packed. Oh, and takeaway was busy, too. The upfront workers were more than pleasant. We’ll be back.

Yelp
Bambu is our absolute favorite Thai spot, and our go-to neighborhood restaurant. We have eaten here many, many times, and the food is ALWAYS amazing (and consistent!). We have tried almost everything on the menu, but our favorites are pad see ew, green curry, crying tiger beef, Tom yum soup, Isan sausage and meing kham. Their cocktails are spectacular, and their wine selection is always top notch. Really can't say enough good things about Bambu. The icing on the cake is how sweet and welcoming the owners, Jason and Shelly, are.

Carmen H.

Yelp
Not the best Pad Thai I've ever eaten. The shrimp were boiled not grilled and hardly any garnish...definitely lacking chopped peanuts and green onions. And for the price was a small portion. And the credit card signature automatically started at 18%, which I think is a little high for her togo order. Let's just say, I won't be back.

JD M.

Yelp
Lunch special panang curry was tasty, just very small. I don't really eat rice, so it just wasn't enough food to satisfy me. Service was friendly. Ambiance is typical Asian restaurant in a strip center.

Sarah L.

Yelp
Excellent food and service!! I do wish the portions were a bit bigger but everything else is fabulous!!

Nicole S.

Yelp
5 stars. We got the moo yang and pad thai. The moo yang was absolutely to die for, so much flavor (the star item for sure) and the pad thai delicious as well. Happy to dine at a family owned restaurant with great quality food, service and atmosphere!

Stephanie K.

Yelp
It's a decent place for Thai food BUT! There's a few things I hope they would tweak. The Tom Kha soup was really good and the portion's pretty big. However, it was thin and really watery. I wish the coconut milk would show more but I hardly tasted it. Then we got the pad see ew. Very good but for some reason it was sweet. I wished it wasn't cause I don't like sweet meals much. I will try to see if they can tweak it next time to not be sweet. Service is good and I like they give you sambal

Nantika K.

Yelp
Great! Service. Amazing food and cocktails not the usual Thai food you can find anywhere. I love isan sausages

Chastity W.

Yelp
It was ok. Just ok. Not life changing. Curry fried rice with chicken. Not much curry flavor. They didn't give me any soy sauce, duck sauce, silverware...nothing with my to go lol it's almost bland but I will say a little flavor.

Coleen R.

Yelp
Delicious! Food was great! Great service! I am Vegan and they were able to give me options to choose from! The place is so nice! Everyone that came in felt like it was home.

Zach S.

Yelp
The Beef Noodle Soup is incredible. Can't believe I've waited this long to come here but will be back soon. The broth alone is enough to order it.

David P.

Yelp
Wonderful Hidden Gem !!!! Was given a suggestion by a friend to give Bambu in Richardson a try if I enjoyed Thai food, which I do. Thought I would drop in for lunch today and found a "Hidden Thai Gem" in Richardson that everyone should put on their regular restaurant list. Met at the front door with a fantastic greeter in a young lady that continued as our waitstaff throughout the meal and we could not have asked for better service - it was fabulous ! Now to the most important - the food, two dishes were ordered at our table and both of them went above board on appearance and taste. The first one was Panang Curry - we decided to order this on a spice level 2. You can order on spice levels 1-3. Our decision was perfect for our taste. Very spicy but not over the top that it masked the tastes of the ingredients which included Chicken, coconut milk, bell pepper, zucchini, kaffir lime leaves, Thai basil all swimming in a broth that was incredible. Off to the side was a mound of Jasmine Rice - our decision was to combine the two into one dish and what an amazing combination we achieved. Our second dish was the Bambu Specialty Crab Fried Rice which came with just the right amount of ingredients of meat, egg, tomatoe, onion, and scallions. It came out as a fried rice dish that made a meal in itself with no need for any addition seasonings. The owners of the establishment came over and introduced themselves to us due to the fact that we had been referred to them and they were so gracious and had their space so well decorated in the era to note not only present time asian cultures but past time asian cultures as well. The interior was very well done. So if you have not found this "Hidden Thai Gem" in Richardson, venture off to the southeast corner of Coit/Campbell - trust me, you will not be disappointed !!

Noah C.

Yelp
Love the small hole in the wall vibe of this place. They offer lunch specials and will still fill you up. The tofu appetizer is delicious with perfect texture and tasty sauce. Service was quick and prompt as well.

Bobby C.

Yelp
HIDDEN GEM! This is some of the best Thai food I've had in Dallas - and I consider myself a Thai food connoisseur . I came in with my family for lunch and we ordered the Thai basil chicken, cashew chicken, and broccoli beef. All of our meals were incredibly delicious, flavorful and a perfect lunch portion. The crispy spring rolls were also amazing. The service was great too - our waitress was attentive and quick. We were also greeted by the friendly owners - this is a family owned business. The ambiance is light, airy and relaxed. Will 100%!be coming back!

Jewel P.

Yelp
I love to visit this restaurant! My favorite dishes are Mieng Kham and Crying Tiger Beef, Chicken noodle soup and Mango sticky rice. Everyone's service was friendly and helpful, and their wine list was impressive. I am looking forward to my next visit to Bambu.

Andrea D.

Yelp
Bambu is excellent! Jenny and her team provide delicious food and excellent service. My go to order is pad thai, but last week I tried cashew chicken and the Isan Chicken Noodle Soup which was out-of-this world!!

Ryan M.

Yelp
Service was great but food portions were small and over priced. I ordered the Crying Tiger Beef, it seemed like an appetizer in relation to portion. I ended up ended ordering a second plate (Pad Thai) because the original entree wasn't enough food. For the value I would not go back to this place, many choices in the DFW area.

Neha J.

Yelp
Friendly service and refreshing flavors....like homemade Thai food! The jungle curry was great, the crispy spring rolls are crisp! Asahi and Singha added icing to the cake!

Sherri H.

Yelp
I had a craving for some spring rolls and edamame, so that's what I ordered. I made some homemade beef and broccoli in my Instant pot yesterday and wanted to add something with a little crunch to go along with it. The edamame was perfectly steamed and salted. The spring rolls had a great texture and crunch but they were much smaller than I thought they would be. They barely had any filling in them because they were so small. $6 for 4 tiny spring rolls didn't exactly break the bank, but I would have enjoyed them so much more if I could find the filling.

Liz M.

Yelp
If you want to have the Best Thai Food .... This place is so amazing Nat and I come as often as we can.

Alex M.

Yelp
Absolute best Thai in town. Seriously try them. Husband and wife team. Best Thai street food in Texas.

Margaret S.

Yelp
This place is so good! I had no idea it was even here! I've been missing out for 10 years!! We were luck enough to come on a day they were doing a food photo shoot so I got to see some on the dishes. Everything was fresh & made to order. Unfortunately I don't remember the names of the dishes but the one I had was not spicy but very flavorful. I loved the glass noodles. (It was the 3rd dish from the bottom left of the menu) All the veggies were crispy & the chicken was all white meat which is important to me. I can't wait to come back.

Noah S.

Yelp
I've been coming here for the past year now and I LOVE THIS PLACE! Their chalkboard menu has some of the best items there and they taste very authentic. The servers are great too and I always have a great time when I come to eat! Thank y'all!

Satomi K.

Yelp
They have my favorite snack Miang Kham! Everyone was super nice and drink/food were delicious.

Nick J.

Yelp
To explain further, the food itself would get 3/5 stars for being just OK. However, I've never had Thai food where the flavors weren't a parade on my palate. Bambu, though, was mediocre. This doesn't make sense to me given how delicious Thai is in general. Are they using cheap ingredients? So that lost them another star. Then there was the restaurant experience itself. We ordered three plates - one just a bowl of Tom Kha as an appetizer that was brought out with the entrees instead - and it took nearly 30 minutes. Our waiter repeatedly said, "It's coming." 30 minutes. When the food hit the countertop they tried to blow off the wait with, "It's fresh and hot!" like that was some recompense. Would it have been old and cold if it had come out in 10 minutes? Mediocre food, super slow kitchen, and mistakenly proud staff. That's a nope for me.

Jimmy P.

Yelp
Great place, what a find. Great staff, nice menu, they have Mieng Kham which I haven't found anywhere....saw it after I ordered so will be back to try it. Love this place!

Cody W.

Yelp
Not the best pad Thai w/chicken I've had but it was definitely delicious an fresh. Noodles seem kinda tough. But not disappointing. Inside was small but very clean and inviting. I was greeted as I walked through the door and was able to order an have my food to go within 8 minutes. Good place!

E M.

Yelp
Crab rice and beef were the dishes we ordered as take-out. Both tasted good. The food is decent

Tammy M.

Yelp
If you work or go to school at UTD then you have been here and it's not because of the proximity. I have been going to Bambu for over 5 years and have never once been disappointed. My pictures show the beef pad see eew and crab fried rice. I ordered the pad see eew probably once every 2 months over 4 years. The added the crab fried rice as a special last year and that has slowly become my new favorite. I've tried other things such as the red curry but these two are stars in my book! The food is fantastic, the service is quick and attentive and of course the location is the best! Try this place out if you ever get a craving for Thai food!

Trent B.

Yelp
I love their food, and I seek out places that you and I and my wife can enjoy food with! This restaurant is very very good because I ordered my shrimp lightly cooked on pad kee mow dish and they came out perfectly soft! I do take really hot levels that most restaurants won't conceive of, but, they did a good job of getting me near three with fresh Thai peppers, but I usually make the order level seven so I can get at least a five! That's no lie but it's funny anyway! I loved it, it was so good! And the birthday party was going on, so I saying happy birthday to my neighbor, and the next thing you know they're offering me part of their cake and they don't even know me! This has been another wonderful experience at this restaurant!

Brooklynn B.

Yelp
Favorite thai in dallas!! Great service always and amazing food- recommend the crying tiger beef and pad see ew!

MereKat R.

Yelp
Just paid 16 dollars for a half empty container. Left work, drove to their restaurant, parked and walked inside. Also left a tip. For $5 worth of food. Ridiculous. Can practically count each item on one hand. Won't be back.

Thien N.

Yelp
Delicious Thai/Laos food. Staff are all very nice and polite. Highly recommend their chicken udon noodle soup, Laos style papaya salad, green mango salad and nam kao tod!

Corky L.

Yelp
It's hard to give this restaurant just 4/5 stars. For dallas it deserves 5/5 stars. Had the lobster curry, the papaya salad, the sausage, the frog legs and the chicken liver. Also had the rosé, the Albariño and cognac with the mango/sticky rice dessert. Perfectly prepared. Service was attentive and spot on. Easily the best Thai restaurant in Dallas. Only minus is the location. Needs to move into Big D, away from the chain restaurants and into a more vibrant, accessible area.

Marissa H.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken cashew but with beef. Food was too salty and I asked for spicy level hot but was not spicy at all. Not very flavorful

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
Ambience:4 Dinner:4 Service:5 Value:5 Return:5 Crowded it was on a Saturday night at this delightful restaurant. While luckily needing to wait for a table, I tried and fell for their "Texas Mule", mixed with their homemade ginger syrup and Tito Vodka which truly heightened this classic drink. Service was on point throughout our time there. Without missing a beat, our water glasses were filled, clean plates after each course, welcoming, accommodating and wonderful suggestions were given to our foodie table by their incredible servers. Clean tasting was all of our table's share dishes. The best dishes came from the server's suggestions which were their "Grilled Calamari"; "Stir Fried Seafood"; and, "Khao Tom Mat". Falling short of our standards were their stuck together "Pad Thai" and where was the beef in the "Beef Green Curry". The next time here, first off, I'll definitely make a reservation; next, I'll only order dishes from their suggestions; and, lastly, I'll wholeheartedly select HOT for medium heat was too mild for my taste! CHEERS!

Gabriel K.

Yelp
Wait Staff: 5 Ambiance: 4 Drinks: 5 Food: 5 Overall Score: 4.75 My wife and I think this is the best Thai food restaurant in the Dallas Ft. Worth area.

Funnel S.

Yelp
This is one of the best Thai restaurants in Dallas with very authentic Thai and Esan menu. They also have great wines and excellent craft drinks. I have been going here for 10 years and all of my friends love it too. Located in North Dallas in the Richardson at the south east corner of Campbell and Coit rd. Awesome place for date night and I love when they have the wine dinners! 1 of the best restaurants in Dallas.

Paul L.

Yelp
A good spot to stop by for a relatively quick lunch. Their lunch special deals are very reasonable, although it does feel like they skimp out on the meat a bit... While you're waiting, they bring you a small cup of soup (one time it was egg drop(?) and another time some kind of mushroom) which is really nice. Their pad thai and thai fried rice are both solid.

Maria H.

Yelp
Disappointed- we have been to this Thai restaurant before and enjoyed it, but tonight was not a great experience. They were very busy, which we were glad to see. We were seated in just a few minutes, but it was very loud in the restaurant. There were 4 of us at the table and we had to lean in and shout to hear one another. Appetizers were very good (chicken satay and dumplings). I could eat those all day long. For our main courses, I ordered the Crying Tiger Steak, which was not as flavorful as usual and the meat was tough. The bigger issue was that my husband ordered the Sea Bass special ($30 on the menu- one of the most expensive dishes). 3 of the entrees came out of the kitchen at the same time. 20 min later he still did not have his meal. Patience was wearing thin- it was awkward for all at the table and the staff was not addressing the problem. Eventually the owner came over and gave a strange and awful excuse about how they filet the fish and that they were already making one when his order went in, now they were making his. 10-15 more minutes went by, the rest of us were pretty much done with our meals when they brought his dinner out. It was plated well and looked delicious, but when he tried to take a piece of the fish it wouldn't flake off. It was undercooked. We called the waitress over and asked her to take the plate away and not charge us. She was apologetic and offered something else, the owner offered to give us another entree (not for free)- even take it home. They did offer a free dessert. When they did not offer another entree for free, my husband was done and asked for the check. It took 20 more minutes for us to get the check and get out of there. We paid $90 and all my husband ate was 1 chicken satay and 2 dumplings. Not sure we will go back- every restaurant can have a bad night, but this seemed like an issue in the kitchen and the ownership did not handle the situation the way we would have expected.

Tauncia B.

Yelp
Great spot for tasty flavorful Thai dishes and excellent drinks!! Definitely recommend the Crispy Spring Rolls and Esau Sausage for starters.

Ivan N.

Yelp
what a gem... The owners are amazing and so helpful when it comes to ordering. I had the Jungle Curry (They recommended ).... It's so good!

Alyssa M.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from here based on the pretty good Yelp reviews. I ordered through ChowNow and my order was ready on time and accurate. The pad thai was good with balanced flavors and an appropriate quantity. I wish there was some more spice to it or if they had provided some chilli flakes on the side for me to add in. I had to take this place down a couple stars because of the disappointing beef massaman curry I ordered. The curry was super watery and the beef pieces were chewy. The carrots and potatoes were undercooked and crunchy. The curry overall had a watered down taste and no kick to it. Such a shame because after having the pad thai, I was let down by the curry. Probably will come back for the pad thai but would steer clear of any curries.

Dan L.

Yelp
Bambu always has great Thai dishes that are quick and affordable. This is a great spot for lunch and is always packed. This restaurant has a lot of natural light so it's always brightly lit. Service is excellent and food comes out quickly. I really enjoy their Massaman curry, pad Thai and curry with rice dishes whenever I drop by. It's not a big place and this place always seems to fill up during the lunch hour so there is sometimes a short wait. Excellent overall.

Stephen K.

Yelp
What exactly is Mieng Kum? And how do I safely pronounce it? Take a look beyond the printed menu at the list of specials written on the chalkboard behind the serving bar. You probably won't know what half of them are. Hell I thought I was immersed in a Rosetta Stone thai course. Fortunately the bespectacled young guy behind the bar helped us navigate this list of unknown dishes. For my money this is the jewel of Bambu's repertoire. The regular menu contains most of the typical thai offerings, and I'm not saying avoid those. We had a nicely prepared "Crying Tiger Beef", and a quality curry fried rice. I should order the pad kee mao to assess it - that's my normal measuring stick of a thai restaurant. Damn, but I can't stay away from that specials blackboard: Nam Khao Tod are Thai lettuce wraps with a tectonic taste shift that reminds me how different Thai food can be when you break out of the American standards. But in the aforementioned Mieng Kum, texture, flavor, fragrance and appearance combined in a dish that "wowed". The beautiful basil leaves were like lily pads that held crispy, salty, spicy, lime-tanged flavor packets. Little magic flavor carpets. This is apparently Thai party food, and only increases my overall fascination with hors d'oeuvres. After a few dirty glances from my girl and despite the kicks to my shins under the table, I'm going to assume the correct way to order them is "Mieng I'm about to..." oh wait never mind. Best to just point at them on the board :-)

Rob R.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. Surprisingly well-stocked bar. So nice to eat and drink high quality food and booze in my neighborhood restaurant.

Lauren K.

Yelp
My favorite curry in town. Green, red, yellow it's all good. Love the chicken satay and their fresh summer rolls. This is the best Thai nearby

Sheng H.

Yelp
Came for dinner around 6:30pm on a weeknight. Nothing too fancy. Typical Thai restaurant. Small portion. Okay food. I ordered the papaya salad. Laos style. It was okay . For $9 the portion was too small. Ordered the Crying Tiger Beef with Sticky Rice. It was plain beef with a fish sauce pepper. The pepper wasn't that great. Small portion as well for $15 My friend got the Esan Waterfall Beef Salad (Beef larb) small portion as well for $12 I wouldn't go back. It's a typical Thai restaurant & the portion was small They get 3 stars because the papaya was good enough

Tom M.

Yelp
Kids meal size with gourmet price. Every restaurant is doing this. Inflated the price and shrink the portion. Time to stop eating out.

Michael P.

Yelp
poor service. asked for meal without green beans and it came out with green beans. took waitress forever to come over and rectify it. dinner ruined. thanks a lot
