This new Vietnamese business, located in Orient Center shopping plaza, just opened today during its soft opening. It's currently specializing in five varieties of banh mi sandwiches (including vegan) and a long list of milk teas and other drinks, along with choices of toppings, such as bobas, foams and jellies.
Parking is available in the large and free parking lot that Bamee Tee shares with many neighboring businesses. I was able to get a parking space right in front of the store. We walked into the store and were immediately greeted by the employees behind the order counter. Customers place their orders at the counter. For take out orders, customers can sit or stand in the large entry/waiting area. Customers opting to eat/drink in can sit at any of the tables in the dining area. The dining area chairs are nicely padded and comfortable, as are the backs of the long continuous bench seat along the wall. The dining area also has a high counter with tall stool seats facing the entry/waiting area. I love the lighting fixtures and the vibe at Bamee Tee - relaxed, casual and comfortable feeling.
R and I ordered the Vietnamese-style grilled pork sandwich, which had butter, cucumber, cilantro, scallion, pickled daikon and carrots stuffed in a Vietnamese-style baguette. I also ordered a Jasmine Green Milk Tee with less ice and less sugar. R ordered a Lychee Black Milk Tee with less ice. It took about 20 minutes for our drinks and sandwiches to be delivered to our table. I'm sure that the service will be faster as the employees gain more experience in the near future. The drinks were perfectly made, and came in the thinner plastic cups with the top sealed, requiring the pointed end of a straw to be poked through the seal. I really liked our sandwiches. The bread seemed on the big side. It was slightly crunchy and nicely flakey. The grilled pork was flavorful and delicious. I feel that more veggies should be added due to the bigger/longer bread size, but the veggies' flavors and textures certainly came through. The price point for the grilled pork sandwich was extremely reasonable.
I met the owner, Christine Tran, and she has plans to expand the Bamee Tee's menu as her team gains more experience. She's so nice and very proud of her restaurant, and was very gracious to have one of her employees bring two separate soda pop items, Lychee Rose and Green Apple Sweet Luv, that were served in a firm plastic bottle with a pop top seal on top. Both of the sodas, which the employees freshly made, included ice and a slice of fresh fruit. After pulling off the pop top, we stuck a wide straw through the hole to mix the juice, carbonation, ice and fruit together. My Green Apple Sweet Luv also had green apple jelly in it that provided a wonderfully surprising and slightly chewy texture to this refreshing and lightly carbonated fruit drink. I can't wait to come back to try her future offerings. I'm very pleased everything I've tried so far!
