We stopped by at Ban SomTum for an early dinner. The restaurant has a private parking lot and an interior lovely enough to encourage you to relax and enjoy the impending dining experience.
There were maybe one or two other tables seated and dining, so the staff was able to be attentive and helpful. We were pretty thirsty, and luckily for us, they came by frequently to refill our water.
The important deets:
Red curry with pork (coconut milk, red and green pepper, Thai basil, bamboo shoot simmered in red curry) $12 with a side of steamed rice +$2. We ALWAYS order red curry at Thai restaurants. I was a little annoyed that the rice was extra, but the serving of curry made up for it. The portion was good for one hungry medium appetite to enjoy without over-eating, with some leftover for a future snack. Lots of flavor and the meat was not overcooked.
Pad Kee Mao (wide rice noodle, onion, tomato, red and green pepper, broccoli, carrots, mushroom, Thai basil and egg with pork) $11.95. We choose this based on the numerous vegetables listed. If you love dining out, you may be familiar with how challenging it can be to find cooked vegetables to fill-up on. I was feeling sluggish with being in the car too long that day and having lately eaten one too many burgers with side salads. The entree was flavorful and colorful, but a tad too oily side for my liking (to keep the noods from sticking together?).
Overall, lovely place, tasty eats. Would recommend!
