"Barrel & Ashes, Studio City. Southern hospitality is alive and well in Studio City. This two-story restaurant and bar dishes out comfort foods and cocktails with a focus on family friendly service. Meats are smoked over California Red Oak delivering a unique and savory twist to barbecue classics. Personal recommendation? Make it to brunch to feast upon the hoe cakes (the 'hangover' is the best)."

Insanely delicious tacos. Perhaps the best tacos I’ve ever eaten. I got the mix and match 5 tacos and every one of them was interesting and incredibly inspired and flavorful. The meat was spiced perfectly and the salsa had just the right balance between spicy and delicious. The tortillas were sturdy and didn’t fall apart and they were also soft fresh and not at all dry. The bartender/server was incredibly friendly and quite helpful and attentive. The service was really fast I was in and out in under 15 minutes which is crazy considering how good and visually pleasing the food was. I will definitely be coming back here just for the food alone. The drinks looked fantastic as well. The interior was tasteful and clean. Great location in studio city and the food came out fast as well. They had a fully stocked and clean gorgeous bathroom with a cool pattern of tiles on the walls that made it look as though I was in a German expressionist painting. I like the balance of bar to restaurant and the fact they were open at ten though I believe they closed at 1030.

I like this place. It's not Texas BBQ... Which I hate. A lot. They do have banana pudding which I LOVE. A LOT; it's pretty good too. Definitely on my list of BBQ spots in the valley. The bar is cool. Good spot to watch a game.

Loved the atmosphere and the smoked smell. Some of the Rib Tips was tough according to my husband; I found them to be flavorful. I loved the "Damn Best Chicken Sandwich", that was awesome; a little messy but awesome . The Brisket Sandwich was also good; love the BBQ Sauce. The side of Greens and Mac n Cheese was also awesome; enough for two to share. The only reason I did not give (5) stars is because some of the meat was tough, but not my chicken.

I've been looking for a place like this in Los Angeles for a very long time. I've had really good BBQ from places like Bludso's, Lucille's and Horse Thief and even though they have delicious food in their own right, I personally rate a BBQ joint on how good their brisket is. I compare brisket to Texas BBQ like Franklin's or the Salt Lick where you have that crusted char, pink smoke rings and butter-like consistency. Honestly, Barrel and Ashes is the closest to having Texas-style BBQ without going to Texas. Even if you're not into brisket like I am, every piece of meat I've had from Barrel and Ashes was delicious, even the Mary's BBQ chicken had a great crust and was ridiculously juicy. Also, dont get me started on the fall-off-the-bone ribs. I enjoyed the interior of the restaurant as well as all the different kinds of Bourbon they had available. Started with ordering the dry-rubbed wings and Stetson Lime Rickey for happy hour. For the main entree I ordered 3 different meats which came with collard greens and baked beans as well as mac n cheese. I tried everything and loved everything, and would like to try the rest.

Service was good, food was great and the environment was a whole vibe. The churros were the best, the extra crispy wings were amazing. Happy hour is the best

One of the better BBQ places in L.A. Try the beef brisket and avoid the pulled pork. It was very watery. Pork rinds are a great value at $3. The hoe cake is also good.

Deliciously smoked ribs, lightly glazed with a lip tingling barbecue sauce. The hoe cake was moist and buttery. Service was good and the atmosphere was unique, definitely worth the wait if you're in the area.

The food is so good! I tried three meats today, chicken, tri tip and baby back ribs. Cleaned my plate clean! Also had a side of beans and collards. Both amazing. The cornbread was to die for, considering f I do not even like cornbread. Basically, everything I've had here has been above my expectations
