11 Spectacular Restaurants, Cafes, and Bars in Beaumont-Wilshire

"Sour-spicy-sweet Thai food — loaded with carbs and protein — is hard to beat as a drinking companion, a prospect at the core of Bang Bang’s Thai-ish enterprise. Pair appetizers like the cauliflower and pineapple crunchy salad with an Italian sauvignon blanc, or match a pork belly fried rice bowl with one of the smoky mezcal cocktails. Groups will enjoy splitting plates of skewers, including short rib, prawn, and tofu, and sober folks can sip on tasty shrubs, Thai iced tea, or bottle soft drinks. The interior décor is a tad utilitarian, so opt for the spacious patio seating if the weather allows." - Nathan Williams

Portland’s Legit Late-Night Happy Hours - Eater Portland

"A chic, modernist little spot with vibrant paintings set against stark whites and blacks, Bang Bang runs a happy hour from 9:30 p.m. each night until midnight. Then, visitors can find drink specials like $7 house wines, $6 G&Ts and a solid $8 old fashioned, as well as a Miller High Life and Fernet combo for $8. The happy hour doesn’t slack on food specials, either: Fremont regulars find a variety of Thai skewers for $2 to $3, a heaping plate of curry fries with fried chicken bits and a silky egg for $14, and some of the city’s best sweet soy wings for $7." - Alex Frane

We were recommended by some friends for gluten free option / Thai (fusion in my opinion) food. The waitperson was very friendly and helpful in recommending a variety of happy hour snacks. We had chicken and tofu skewers, and they were good. The pork belly skewer was a bit fatty for me. My wife’s favorite was the gluten free spring rolls. For main entrées, we had fried rice and curry fried deluxe, and they were good. Very tasty gluten free options!

This was my favorite meal I've had in years! The food and service were amazing! Everything is gluten and dairy free!

We had a lovely dinner on their outdoor patio. Plenty of precautions in place, it felt safe for us and for the staff. Bright, vivid flavors, fresh and visually beautiful dishes. We shared the spring rolls, prawn skewer, pineapple curry, drunken wings and mango parfait. Everything is gluten and dairy free, and super tasty. We will be back soon.

My party of 4 (adults) arrived in the evening, during winter Jan. 2023. We ordered several dishes, some pictured and some not. Skewer had different portion meat pieces, but tasted flavorful and juicy. I don’t believe the price for the bowls we ordered were reflecting what was in the bowl. I am going to say that there were 2 items in a bowl that were flavorful and delicious, but the rest lacked and couldn’t be carried by the 2 tasty things alone, so I would not order again. I may consider returning to try something again, but possibly during warmer weather when outside seating is available and there is more space to enjoy a meal without being crowded. I was unable to hear the person beside me clearly. Tables were sticky and had some crumbs on it when we were seated. Nice lighting, gentle on eyes. Nice artwork on walls. I appreciated the live plants. Customers service was a 3 star. Wait time was a long, we arrived as they opened, I’m not sure if they prioritized meals to go. Small inside area, I literally was elbow to elbow with stranger and I mention this because I agree with others that have posted small place inside and on our visit there was a man who sat at the table next to me. It seems that he didn’t chew his food well and ended up choking, he was fine in the end. But as he got up food left his body and landed on his table and the one beside him. One of the waitresses watched this with others and as he was successfully bringing the food up, bodily fluids joined. Again, he himself successfully brought the food back up and a huge chunk landed on the floor and his table and the one next to him. After this, I was surprised that there wasn’t clean up. Saliva streamed from this strangers mouth and landed several places and staff didn’t sanitize. The woman who was with him grabbed a napkin and picked up the large pieces, but that was it. I do appreciate that there is another dedicated GF eatery. Parking was tough to find. Someone in comments had asked about “kid friendly”, I wouldn’t suggest it as such.

Google
The food was fine, unbalanced but fine. The tofu skewers were literally just dunked in hot sauce. The space accommodates big parties and the staff was really nice. The cocktails were very good! We ordered every vegan thing on the menu, the cauliflower was our favorite. We didn’t care for the curry bowl.

Google
Nice outdoor seating off the street. Staff were friendly and responsive. You can order off the QR code menu or get an old fashion printed menu. Good cocktails and inventive food. Particularly enjoyed the pineapple curry with a substitution of pulled pork, the spring rolls, and the noodles with spicy pork.

This is a cute place to go for a date night. The food are pretty good! Highly recommend the chicken wings and spicy cauliflower!!! Good service, friendly staff!!

Google
Relaxed and warm environment with friendly and welcoming servers! The drinks were amazing and they have an "these drinks are amazing price!" However, every sip is worth it! The food, while Thai based, has no peanuts which means I can finally drag my friend with the peanut allergy into a Thai restaurant! I really enjoyed the heat in the cauliflower appetizer which was strong but not over whelming of the other flavors. The rice noodles featured pickled Chinese broccoli which I couldn't help but steal continuously from my husband dish! They feature a small menu but each dish features tastes like it was well crafted and balanced perfectly. Definitely worth a return visit!

Yelp
Food and drinks were ok in my opinion. Nothing too fantastic. I would go here for the service and relaxing vibes it gives.

Yelp
The spicy pineapple margarita was so yummy! I am so excited to try more cocktails in the future. The pickled cucumbers were yummy. Make sure to try the homemade sriracha! I ordered the kids curry bowl and subbed for tofu, but the curry was really salty for me. I love the plating though because pouring the curry over the rice was fun and aesthetically pleasing for a video. Excellent customer service!

Yelp
HIGHLY recommend this place. Absolutely incredible food, but the fact that we were able to order anything that sounded good, without worry of my boyfriend's gluten and dairy allergies getting in the way was HUGE. We live out of state and stumbled upon this place by accident, but we will absolutely without a doubt be going out of our way to come back anytime we're even remotely near the city

Yelp
I'm a fan of Wonderly (and Crewel Summer next door) and now Bang Bang. The Spicy Pineapple Margarita was refreshingly delicious. We enjoyed the ample portion Crunchy Salad, but the Beef Short Rib Skewer was a tad small. Our favorite was the Spicy Buffalo Nuggets, I suggest complimenting them with the homemade Sriracha-based hot sauce found on every table. Lastly, the Rice Pudding was creative and kind of grew on me after each bite. Prices are fair, but I'M NOT a fan of the entitled automatic tipping model (for healthcare or cost of living too.) I hope this ridiculous trend - that's only found so far in inner Portland - dies quickly or the concept of tipping is redefined. That said, service was very friendly and attentive, I would have easily given 20% anyway. The space cozy and lovely. A great fixture in the neighborhood.

Yelp
When you're gluten free, it doesn't get better than this. I don't think I've ever eaten food like this. Incredible taste and great ambience! Only gripe: I live in California so I can't get it often
google avatar

Yelp
The service, food and drink were all fine but I'd get takeout next time. Automatic 20% gratuity doesn't sit well with me. Call me old fashioned but back in my day gratuity was based on service received. It's a sign to me that employees aren't paid well, which in turn means no motivation to provide great service. Meh.

Yelp
Amazing neighborhood spot on NE Fremont. The Spousal Unit and I stopped in for dinner. Happy hour was still on so we quickly ordered drinks (wine/cava) and food. They were out of their well-known cauliflower dish so we ordered Brussel sprouts, a chicken skewer, buffalo-chicken nuggets, french fries and a side of green curry sauce. Bang bang! Sounds like a nice light dinner, eh? All amazingly deeleeshous! Next time I'll order a beef rib skewer as well. Yup! That'll do it. Friendly service, nice ambiance. Check it out. Note! They add 20% gratuity for indoor dining.

Yelp
Tendon puffs! Spicy fried cauliflower! Crab fried rice! Curries! Skewers! Fried chicken I still haven't tried yet! This place has it going on! Great cocktails (the Silver Hammer was absolute warm weather perfection, and the other cocktail that I can't remember with Aperol, too), tasty food, great staff, and a good patio space. It's one of those places we sadly forget to go back to, and then when we do they knock it out of the park again.

Yelp
Food was good. A little pricy. And you don't have a waiter. I can see why people both like and dislike this place. We sat out side and service was good and quick. You order on your phone. So if you are splitting the check you should make sure to enter your order at the same time otherwise they will come out at different times. They will bring your food to you and drinks. But water is self serve. We were told if we wanted water , the fastest way is to get it yourself. So not exactly a place if your expecting full service. Food was great and drinks were good. Came out quickly. And if you had special requests they would come to talk to you. Just put it on your order. This is a fusion Thai food place so not traditional. I really did like the food. It they only have coconut rice not plain. Sadly I really dislike coconut. Still tried it but just not to my liking. They have mung bean glass noddles you can substitute, and they are good. We sat outside and it felt disconnected. My hubby disliked the chairs. The servers were nice and helpful. You pay as you order and the default gratuity is %20. But it is adjustable. I like to give at least that but didn't feel it was deserved when you have to do a lot of your own service. I would come back and want to see what it's like indoors.

Yelp
My partner loves this place, because it's very Celiac-friendly, and she loves Thai and southeast Asian cuisine. We came here on one of our date nights and, while the food is not quite to my taste, I can't doubt the quality. Further, my partner loves it, so I'll speak to the experience, my perceptions, and her review as I would choose something different next time. First off, we started with their drunken wings. These are crispy fried wings with garlic, cilantro, and shallots, and were very delicious. We devoured those. I asked the waiter whether to go for the glass noodles or the curry fry deluxe. He said both were good, but the dry deluxe was more unique and worth a try if I was deciding between the two. It was a huge bowl, filled with thin cut fries, topped with fried chicken, garlic, herbs, a soft egg, and a curry sauce. The reason I wasn't too fond of this was mostly due to the curry sauce; it leaned heavy into coconut and I found the coconut flavour overwhelmed the rest of the dish. Because the fries were coated in the sauce, they were pretty limp and soggy, which is the texture that the dish was going for, just not what I particularly enjoyed. I'm thinking the next time we'll go, I'll opt for the glass noodles, which don't have the curry sauce. My partner went with the green curry bowl and, as usual, she devoured the entire thing. She goes here all the time, though, and truly loves it. I recognize that the quality of my dish was very high, and the staff definitely know what they're doing and they know their product. They were friendly and quick with service and we had a lovely evening. The next time we go, I'll try the glass noodles and probably update my review. But since I didn't particularly care for the taste of my dish, I just can't give it five stars for this trip.

Yelp
Lovely service, good food, and a lot of it! Very good value. Enjoy the outside if weather permits!

Anna J.

Yelp
The food was great! It was so pretty inside and had a nice vibe. Will def come back! The rice puffs were so crispy and perfect and the drunken chicken wings were soo good. The cauliflower had so much flavor. We also had the tomato curry with grilled meatballs and the sauce was soo good. We also had the fried rice and was perfect.

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner on their outdoor patio. This is a cute place to go for a date night. The food are pretty good! The chicken wings and spicy cauliflower!!! Good service, friendly staff!! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Went here for a girls night dinner, we wanted somewhere cozy/vibes, with good drinks and food, this place was just that. The brussel sprout starter & the pumpkin curry were to die for. Cauliflower was amazing also, but on the spicy side. Many drink options available, the ones we had were delicious. Service was attentive, fast & thoughtful. A great neighborhood restaurant, will definitely be back. Just a tip- end the night next door at Wonderly for a night cap, so cozy.
google avatar

RobertMosura M.

Yelp
The freshest and creative food and drinks we've had in a very long time. Great friendly service ! Bartender really knows his stuff! The spicy cauliflower app and Brussels sprouts were dynamite but three entrees later we had truly an incredible meal ... a definite "we'll be back " !

Yelp
I have to assume this place used to be better. I've been here twice. The food is okay and uninteresting. There are better food carts and way better restaurants. The price and branding suggests a full service restaurant or at least an attentive do it yourself (a la Paadee) but that is not the case. The patio was dirty both times I visited with tables smeared with food if they were cleared and others uncleared for the entire time I was there though they were very slow. Both times the servers were the opposite of helpful or friendly. Recently I got a glass of white wine with fire engine red debris stuck to the inside and outside of the glass.. Do they not look at what they are serving at all or do they not care that they give patrons drinks with garbage in them? I don't know that it matters.

Yelp
This is one of those smaller places that I'm glad are pushing through the winter business slump. Even though business was extremely slow on the night we went, they took us in when they could have easily just closed up early. And I'm so grateful about it! The menu features a great thai-fusion selection; there's no going wrong. The curries are flavorful and sweet. The pumpkin curry bowl with braised shortrib is deeply soul-warming. The drinks are super flavorful and strong- I can definitely recommend the pineapple marg. Also whoever was DJ-ing that night or whichever playlist they have going is great. The atmosphere is warm and pleasant.
google avatar

Yelp
This has been a family fave for a long time. All menu items are superb. You can't go wrong with their curries but truly every menu item is fresh, colorful and flavorful. Epic cocktails too. Wait staff is top notch
google avatar

Todd M.

Yelp
Hit up this place for late night happy hour. Good selection of skewers (chicken, beef and pork) along with other small bites (see picts). My boys very much enjoyed the wings as the garlic/shallot coating was a huge hit. Fries were basic BUT the dipping sauce made up for it. I'd say only drawback was the price of the spring rolls as they were pricy for the amount you received at happy hour. (2 tiny spring rolls for $7.00) Definitely would recommend for happy hour small plates that we chose but just order accordingly.
google avatar

Yelp
Bang Bang was yum yum! While traveling to PDX, my sisters and I discovered this gem gem. We enjoyed the outdoor outdoor seating, and our food was delish delish! We ordered the pineapple curry, fried rice, and glass noodles, and each of us felt we chose the best best! What a great first first impression! If we were locals, we'd be back for sure sure!

Tara M.

Yelp
The skewers were tasty. I don't like having to give a mandatory 20% tip while also having to do some of the service myself. I appreciated not having to bus but typing in my order, typing in my credit card, not having a server give you information about the menu. The food all came out at different times so we all ate at different times. I'm back visiting Portland and every restaurant so far wants a 20% tip while making the customer do half of the work. I dislike that shift in service especially when our dinner was already on the spendy side. $84 for a dinner while drinking tap water from the water station. The patio was nice though and the "server" seemed pleasant.

Yelp
After having a social distanced hang out with some friends, definitely needed some grub to recoup my social meter. I found Bang Bang on Postmates, and order their fried rice combo, which comes with fried spring rolls, and the glass noodles combo, which comes with drunken wings. Total being: $47. Fried Spring Rolls: Crispy on the outside. Terribly salty filling. Fried Rice: The saltiest fried rice I've ever had. They need to lay low on the salt or soy sauce. Let the fried rice do the talking with less seasoning. It was also a very very very dry fried rice. Drunken Wings: These we're actually super great. PDX can crucify me, I think Pok Pok wings are overrated. The wings here are better. Nice thick caramelized sauce. Loved the fried garlic and scallions on it. Not like the salty birds at Pok Pok. Glass Noodles: This was my favorite thing. From the poached egg, to the pickled veggies, everything was delicious. If you're not into spicy, don't eat this. The pork is gonna give you some spice in your life. Mix everything up, and every bite is the perfect bite.

Yelp
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a 2005 movie starring RDJ and Val Kilmer. Bang Bang You're Dead is a crime thriller play and 2002 TV movie. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a Classic 1968 Dick Van Dyke movie about a flying race car. Bang Bang is a 2014 Bollywood movie and also an especially killer Ariana Grande song with Nicki Minaj and Jesse J. The Bang Bang Thai restaurant in Portland is the best Bang Bang of the bunch. Every bite was fantastic. The Tendon Puffs were pure genius. I asked how they were made and I picked up a few steps: freeze-dried, sliced and deep fried. The Spring Rolls were perfect. The skewers were superb. My massoman curry with the glass noodles were fantastic and presented surprisingly beautifully. And the chicken wings were also shockingly good. Millennials and Hipsters, eat well my friends. Loved it.
google avatar

Edward L.

Yelp
Portland has an amazingly wide variety food, and it was a pleasant surprise to find a decent hipster Thai place. And by hipster I mean not-too-authentic. Crazy how so many places can put a hipster spin on food in this town. Parking is available on Fremont, as well as the side streets. The inside looks more like a cocktail place than a restaurant per se, as the bar counter is rather large for such a restaurant. Not a bad thing though. Staff were friendly, and definitely not Thai. Fried rice - definitely has a lot of random bits. Egg is in large chunks. Glass noodles - came with an egg on top. Again, plenty of random bits, especially vegetables. Pumpkin Curry - wasn't quite what we had expected. It's more of a salad bowl with squash and pork as the main features. See photo. I guess my only complaint was that the dishes were a bit on the small size. The presentation looks great (everything in the dishes is so well sorted it looks like a food display), and the food also tasted great, but the volume is low (ie the food isn't high enough). Some more food would've been good. We ended up leaving hungry. Something to keep in mind. Hence the 3 stars instead of 4.
google avatar

Yelp
Average Thai food. There is much better in NE and downtown. Limited menu compared to most other Thai restaurants. Service was very attentive.
google avatar

Yelp
Bang Bang has been a go to spot of mine since 2016. The food is fun + fresh and the beverage program is one of the better ones in the area. During Covid they are taking extra precautions by having guests order inside at the counter and then they bring everything out to you in their impressive patio or sidewalk seating. I usually get the crunchy salad that has squash, pineapple, and greens, tendon puffs and a skewer or two. When I deep dive into carb heaven the Curry Fry Deluxe or any curry bowl is my jam. The Curry Fries comes with chicken, fries, soft cooked egg, herbs and their amazing curry sauce. It is SO good. Hats off to Bang Bang for delivering such great service and food on a consistent basis.
google avatar

Meg T.

Yelp
We learned about Bang Bang from Extra Pack of Peanuts and making their list of favorites in Portland. The honey really liked them but I wasn't as much of a fan and definitely wouldn't rate them as a must in Portland, or even my top 5. Their skewers were okay, nothing exceptional, and they don't really have a great selection outside of them. Compared with Ringside's happy hour menu Bang Bang's falls flat, and when taken with Mother's taste level or Hale Pele's ambiance they're not even a blip on the charts. Pine Street is classic and simple, and Bang Bang still can't compete if we're talking about the menu being minimalistic. Even The Hairy Lobster, which was underwhelming would be a first choice for me before Bang Bang. It's unlikely we'll return.

Yelp
"Bang, bang on the door, baby Bang, bang on the door Bang, bang on the door, baby Bang Bang Your what? Tin roof, rusted" -B52s That fabulous 90's era song probably has nothing to do with this place...but it got stuck in my head as I was happily noshing on the tasty soy-garlic-shallot-breaded amazing Drunken Wings and imbibing on perhaps the best Old Fashioned I've ever had. Both are only $6 each during the late night happy hour, which is every day 9:30pm - midnight...FUC Yeah! But don't be one of those jackasses whom orders food 10 minutes before closing. They call it "Thai-inspired comfort food", I'm Asian, and I can dig it. Okay, I only had the wings, but I'm sure the rest of the food is awesome too. Love the clean modern decor, seems like it would be a good spot for a first date without being cheap or pretentious. Okay, I've been with the same lady for 18+ years, so maybe I'm wrong.

Yelp
Best old fashioned! Bang Bang is a friendly neighborhood hangout with a fun selection of tasty food. You won't be disappointed.. outdoor patio is a perfect warm weather option with great people watching.

Yelp
YUM YUM!!! Big surprise.... just wanted "some food." What we got was DIVINE!!! New favorite place!!!

Yelp
This was a great late night eatery. We had the crispy chicken wings, Buffalo style cauliflower, one mushroom skewer and a peach desert.

Yelp
The flavors and freshness with every bite were outstanding! So delighted to have found Bang Bang. If you have Celiac or other medical issues resulting in needing to eat gluten free, you're safe here! I tested it for you and did not combust, haha. Epi Pen lives to be injected another day. Anyway, seriously so good. They are my new weekly favorite.
google avatar

Maggie Y.

Yelp
I'm gluten free so always in the look out for restaurants that are gf that are willing to accommodate. Fact that this is all gf except for beer is a huge factor for me and kudos. So when I hear fried chicken that's gf I run to it and want to find a good place so I can eat fried foods that's safe. I'll pay more, I will tip more and I forgive more because it can be harder and more costly for the restaurant. Wait staff very knowledgeable but I do not understand how this place gets such high stars. The food at least this night was terrible. This is my first time here. The tendon puff was so hard it scratched my mouth and nearly cracked a tooth. I'll supply a photo. I have had tendon thing and fried that melted in your mouth at nomad. This was inedible. I left the whole bowl. I'm no waste and it wasn't cheap. The drunken wing is just all sweet. If that's all you want it's flavored ok 3/10 but it was so over cooked it was dry, hard also inedible. Left a photo of what left behind. E each tried one and we both had trouble downing it. The only thing that was ok was the buffalo nuggets. Drinks came fast and good. Service was really inattentive. We sat for twenty minutes with all the left over food I couldn't eat and we didn't touch waiting for a bill to go home and eat dinner at home. No one checked on us or asked about the food. The place was half full and servers were just with each other by the register. Reading the room is your job not I do know it is hard to stay restaurants. I reserve my notices mostly on the food. My partner who is very tolerant and generally nice about food and service didn't want to take any of the food left home. I don't get why the great reviews. I wish this was a go to. I can't come back.

Yelp
First visit, had the glass noodles and it was delicious! The brussel sprouts were amazing! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Remember when we used to eat in public? Yeah, me neither. Bless you, magical people who deliver delicious food to my house. There's a special place in heaven for you! When it comes to places that offer delivery, Bang Bang is just so..bangin'! And I just love to say their name (Bang Bang!!). OK, I'm going to admit I'm just a tiny bit addicted to their buffalo cauliflower. It's pretty spicy, and my lips sometimes complain, but my taste buds ignore all this, because *wow*. They have a Chinese broccoli that is pretty decent, but let's be honest, I only order it so I don't feel so bad when I scarf down those AMAZING WINGS. Seriously, what is in that crunchy stuff on top? Another great veggie-friendly option is the pineapple curry. It's different and delicious, like most of the dishes at Bang Bang. The texture of the fried tofu can't be beat. I recommend the "glass noodles" substitution for plain rice. Enjoy!
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Good food; small venue! Try to avoid Friday night/weekends as there is very limited seating. A good option is to go during the late happy hour from 9:30-midnight, so you can get the appetizers for less and for late night happy hour only, some of the entrees are discounted too. My friends and I tried a lot of the appetizer items, a few drinks and the fried rice. The fried rice with crab and pork belly was FANTASTIC (this is a must-try)and most of the appetizers were also very good. I'd recommend skipping the fries; nothing special here, even with a chili garlic mayo. As for the drinks, we tried the old fashioned (the cardamom is a really nice touch!), Silver Hammer (light, citrus-y) and the special, a passion fruit daiquiri. All drinks were tasty and worth a try, especially the daiquiri. While we had good food and a good time, it was a little awkward to see the line form in the hallway, with people watching you, waiting to for you to pay/vacate/GTFO. Don't let the awkwardness deter you from checking this place out!

Yelp
Landed in Portland and looked for a late night eats. This place fit the profile and was not too far from the airport. Very friendly and personal service here. We ordered the drunken wings and I got the green curry with chicken and shrimp. Love the presentation - pouring the curry in the bowl. Both dishes were very yummy. I will come back and order it again. I wish they had a yellow curry that night but they didn't. I wanted more curry sauce as well. Overall, good vibe and food.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome food! Great flavors and choices, I find myself craving it often. Obsessed with the green curry bowl.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Mmm a unique spin to tradition curry ! Cool little spot, more intimate. Seating is all nestled pretty close to one another. Loved the presentation of the bowls, all the fixings are nicely laid out and curry is served on the side for you to pour over. The consistency of the curry gets immediately soaked up by the rice and sort of thickens. Very tasty .

Yelp
Overall I like the food here, it's solid and consistent. The restaurant itself is quite loud when it's busy, so it's hard to hear the people you're with. It's not a good place for a date on a Friday or Saturday. I ordered the wings which were amazing, the Chinese broccoli, and the green curry bowl. I'm always underwhelmed by the amount of chicken and shrimp you get in the curry bowl for $17. You get 3 shrimp and a few small pieces of fried chicken. It doe NOT seem like a great value. Last night I was aggravated after I ordered a seltzer water at the bar when I was waiting for my table, then I asked for a refill when my dinner arrived. They didn't mention a refill would cost another $2. So I ended up paying $4 for water. It feels cheap and sneaky to not mention you're charged for refills. I don't think I'd return here, unfortunately. If I had consented for another $2 refill that's one thing, but it should have been mentioned to me. It's not about the $2 in the end- it's about poor communication.

Yelp
Food allergy heaven!!! I have celiac disease and am allergic to milk, tree nuts and peanuts. I went here while visiting Portland recently. For the first time in my adult life, I could safely eat menu items such as fried rice and spring rolls. Even the curry was a delight, as I have had issues after eating curry at other restaurants. Not only was the food safe for me to eat, it was delicious! We ate so much food just because it was so good! We even ordered delivery from Bang Bang on our last night in Portland, because we needed more of it in our life! My husband wants to plan another trip to Portland soon, just to eat at Bang Bang again! The restaurant does use cashew items in some items, but they can easily be avoided.

Yelp
American cuisine with a Thai influence. Anglo kitchen, Anglo wait staff. Where is the cultural and soul connection? The food was good, maybe a 4 star but the attempt at Thai labeling wasn't there, therefore the 3 star. Cases in point: Soup spoons instead of tablespoons. Chop sticks for everybody. The Thais don't use chop sticks!, only tablespoons with a fork to push food onto the tablespoons. Finally, the only fire offered is Vietnamese siracha, not chilis in oil. Staff was friendly and efficient but the menu is American.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing! The food and the staff are wonderful! The staff was very welcoming and accommodating as I was traveling with my service pup! The food is so good and all gf! As a medically gf person I ate dishes I haven't eaten in years! Although everything is so yummy I fell in love with the spring rolls! I highly recommend this restaurant and will be back next time I'm in Portland. Thank you for providing me wonderful, safe food!

Yelp
Had this delivered via grub hub, was without a car sorry, Bang Bang! Was nervous to try it for the first time this way, but it was ready faster than expected and delivered almost 20 min faster. It was SO hot when it arrived and it is SO delicious. Such great mix of flavors and textures. I wish there was more sauce all around, more curry for the pumpkin curry and more Buffalo sauce on the cauliflower, but even on the dryer side it tasted delicious.

Yelp
Good Thai place. Loved the pineapple curry. Wings were overrated. Service was meh. Cocktails were great. Server was more concerned with moving a table than providing service, but our food was good. I might be back if I'm in the neighborhood but I wouldn't race back.

Yelp
ALWAYS great food and they have done a great job during Covid with delivery and pickup. Also, if you catch another 50+ degree day, they have really dialed in the outdoor setup. Pro tip: Bang Bang's food is also served next door at Wonderly, their sister cocktail joint. Great option to be aware of in the neighborhood whether for weekday takeout, a drink with a friend, or date night.

Yelp
Service means everything! The staff here is amazing. They are very welcoming and accommodating. The old fashion was spot on with their house made bitters. The Thai iced teas were good as well. Since we had some restrictions, it was a bit hard to figure out something on the menu for my mom. Because of this, they brought out a bowl of their tendons on the house. They are seasoned with dried curry which made them for us. Their glass noodles were delicious, save for it being very spicy. My dad had a hard time choosing between the green curry and the fried rice. He decided on the green curry. They brought out a small dish of the fried rice on the house. The green papaya, with crab, was good. It didn't have too much crab in it. All things considered, it was a great dinner and the service was the one thing that will make us come back.

Yelp
Holy cow this place is good! Decided to order half the menu on a whim for takeout as we're new to the neighborhood and want to get familiar with the local spots. Absolutely devoured the fried rice, green curry, beef and chicken skewers, and the spring rolls. Didn't LOVE the cauliflower or fried chicken wings but to each their own. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Good happy hour. Enjoyed the service from our server to the bartender--- and the atmosphere. Appreciated that they're open til midnight. We came in very late. Didn't care for the: Spring rolls= ground meat in a more egg-roll style wrap. Heavy. Probably a good starter if you're really hungry. Deep fried tendons... just not our thing, but the seasoning was good... I can see why these are popular, tho. What we loved: Pineapple curry stir fry w chicken. Everything about it!!! Fresh grilled pineapple? Yum!!! Pork belly-- crispy and delish! Gin and Tonic-- $5 yum! Fernet (or whatever it is)-- yum!!! $6 We'd definitely come here again and experiment w the menu!

Yelp
Late night munchies? This place is open until Midnight and the food is good! I ordered food for pick up and had my personal Postmates delivery person grab it. We had the Panang Curry which was pretty tasty and the kids chicken curry dish. I actually loved this the best, minus the chicken part. I'm not sure how old the kids would be that eat this because I thought the flavor might be too spicy for my 5 year old but I liked it better than the Panang curry. But wasn't a fan of the chicken it was overly crispy and fried for my taste. In fact I think the tofu was fried rather crispy as well. Next time I might try the shrimp or octopus instead. Lastly, I had to try the Tendons. I saved them for the next day and I have to say, I loved the crispy greasy puffs! Definitely will have to hit this place up for late. Ifht grub again.
