Bang Bang - Review - 20th Arr. - Paris - The Infatuation

"It’s common local knowledge that the French don’t do heat, hence the forewarning from our waiter at this corner spot in Belleville: “Everything is spicy here, but at a welcoming level.” The shredded papaya with crispy pork skin will leave your mouth tingly, but if the tuna tataki is on the menu, expect some tears. The chefs at this tightly-packed, year-old restaurant come from Colombia and Denmark, but their cuisine is a blend of Southeast Asian flavors, making this a perfect place to trick your palate into thinking you got on a plane to Bangkok, not France. All the plates are meant to be shared, so come with a group of friends and order a bunch of different things—we recommend the platter of sliced pork belly, pickled daikon radishes, kimchi, and a bowl of herbs and lettuce to wrap it all up in. The donut-onion-ring-looking thing that regularly comes from the open kitchen is Pain Malawach, and should not be skipped. Same for Bang Bang’s only dessert: the grilled banana split made with crispy plantains, chai ice cream, dulce de leche, and coconut crumbles." - Sara Lieberman

This place gets a perfect 10/10 from me. The food was spicy as hell and incredible! The wait was so nice and recommended the best options for me! I first started off with the fried tofu croquettes with jalapeño mayo and picked ginger!!! If you don’t order these you’re crazy! It was absolutely delightful! Finally someone put some respect on tofu! Then I had the papaya salad. It was 8.5 on the spice level and worth every sip of water after each bite! Another must order if you have the pain tolerance. Then I ended with the octopus tacos!!! Again another hot! So delicious

What a great place to eat! Delicious food prepared with creativity and cohesion. Such interesting tastes! We sat outside and had a lovely evening. The food was not too hot at all, just spicy enough to make it good. We will go back next time we are in Paris. Orange wine was perfect for the food.

Very cool place, interesting wine list and bold flavored food. Recommended if you want to try something unique amongst all the classic places in Paris.

Finally, spicy food!!! Their menu revolves around spice from different countries and it was delicious!! Every dish was inventive and interesting. We arrived at opening to make sure we got a table as the place is small and was full within 45 mins of opening. Server was really friendly and kind. Wine list is also good!

It’s true, the food is BANGING!!! Get your reservations in ladies in gentlemen while you still can because this place is amazing. The food is so well balanced and full of flavours, that the spiciness hits you just right. Even people who are not fan of spice food can find themselves enjoying this cuisine. The service is friendly and laidback, the ambience is cool with always great playlist accompanying dinner. The list of natural wines is delightful and pairs well with the dishes. Highly recommend!

Expensive for what it is. After spending +50 euros on the smallest portion sizes (even if it's tasty - it's tofu not truffle, it's papaya not caviar) and sitting in a funky area (not a fine dining establishment, you will most likely have to eat again after 1 hour. Would love to know how they came up with such ridiculous prices

What a unique tasty experience. You are in Asia, you are in South America, you are everywhere spice has a meaning. It’s generous, it’s delicious, it’s fresh and original and the service is amazing!!! Worth trying.

Google
(4.5 stars) a fresh restaurant concept for Paris - nice casual ambience with the warmest genuine staff. The spiced, charred asparagus skewers are really really good! with a yoghurty and spicy dipping sauce. The cheesy nibbles go well with drinks. I however found the Tomahawk pork chop so-so for 28€. I personally believe the fat wasn't rendered that well making it somewhat hard to chew. And found the sauces on the mild side, could be punchier. The recommended way to wrap the pork in a lettuce with herbs eats great though! Highly recommend to take the 'Sylvaner pur jus' white wine to go with, please go try and see this new place for yourself.
