"Nobody serves a hot pot full of tom kha gai quite like Bangkok Thai on Greenville Avenue. A steel bowl with a built-in fire pit heats your soup from within, allowing diners to serve themselves the creamy, coconut milk-based soup with a ladle." - Rachel Pinn, Amy McCarthy

Ordered via DoorDash and everything was packaged well and secured to avoid outside tampering. I ordered the coconut soup and shrimp/scallop pad thai. About ~6 hours later I had one of the worst cases of food poisoning. I had watery diarrhea and was vomiting. Im still dealing with stomach cramping this morning. Won't be back.

Wonderful option for lunch with bountiful servings. Great appetizers and flexible menu to accommodate dietary needs.

This place has been on my list for years, and I finally got a chance to go with my friend. The restaurant had an elegant feel, and the customer service was fantastic; the lady is from Thailand, which was a really nice touch. I was able to chat with her about my experiences in Thailand. However, the food was tasteless. I feel bad saying that, but it was disappointing. We were both disappointed with our main dishes. I ordered the garlic dish, but I couldn't taste any garlic or any flavor at all. There were too many carrots and peas for my liking. It was just a sad experience for me. Nonetheless, the appetizers were good. Overall, I don’t have to go back.

I’ve been coming here for about 3 years but never taken the time to eat inside. The atmosphere is nice. They were playing holiday music with no words, which I liked. The tv had a holiday scene on it (today is thanksgiving). The service was prompt, the server knew the menu. He didn’t ask me my spice level, however I liked the food that came out. Everything was clean, tasted good, and was presented well. The food was flavored well and I ate past when I was full even, which is not very normal for me these days. It was definitely enjoyable and the service was respectful and polite. Will definitely come again.

The food was good however my order was to go and once I opened it the container was full of grease and oily. They should package the to go order better. It was a very low quality silverware with the order. This is to much of cutting corners for few cents. I am not sure if I put another order from this place.

I used to deliver for UberEats for a few years and this spot was always one of the few places I would go to a lot. I finally got the chance to check it out, and their pineapple fried rice did not disappoint. It was so good. My instant favorite. I will be back before they close down to order a few more times.

Google
This is the most "mom and pop" place that I know of in East Dallas. The food is outstanding, and tastes great. The prices are much lower than avg. There are zero trappings of ambition for anything other than to get great food out of the kitchen very fast. I ordered my food four star spicy. When I got my box for leftovers, she added some chilli sauce to help it meet my needs. No asking. Just knew it would make me happy. Didn't ask or comment. Just made me happy. It's things like this that makes me love it.

Google
My dad and I have been coming here for years just for their peanut chicken. It’s our absolute favorite. We’ve tried peanut chicken at so many other places and even made it at home, but nothing compares to the rich, delicious flavor they have here. There’s something truly special about it. The staff is always warm and welcoming, and even though the restaurant is an hour away from us, we still make the trip on weekends just to enjoy that unforgettable taste. I highly recommend this spot if you love Thai food or want to try the best peanut chicken around.

Ben N.

Yelp
This restaurant is absolutely delicious. I went with my friends and each of us ordered something different from the menu. The table got so quiet once the food come out because we were all so involved with our food. Definitely somewhere that I plan on going again.

Yelp
I was a little dissapointed unfortunately. I was really excited to try their pad thai and fresh spring rolls but it was very underwhelming. The pad Thai was overly sweet and had barely any veggies or toppings (it was mainly just sauce, peanut bits, and noodles). The fresh spring rolls were also very underwhelming with majority of the roll being lettuce and rice paper. They were very dry and the peanut sauce I added on the side was solid as opposed to liquid. I could barely find any shrimp pieces in the rolls. However, the service was quite quick making it easy as a to-go lunch option!

Susan C.

Yelp
This was my first time ordering from Bangkok at Greenville. I ordered the pad Thai with tofu, edamame, and the combination platter. It was all delicious, everything was well seasoned and I really enjoyed every part of it. The pad Thai is just perfect, it tasted, homemade, very comforting! The edamame was of course, delicious! And the combination platter was extraordinary, it had the most perfect crispy tofu, shrimp, some crispy corn patties, and vegetable spring rolls. The platter came with the most delicious sweet-and-sour sauce, it had peanuts and pieces of cucumbers in it. Thank you! I will definitely order again!

Chastity W.

Yelp
I came for lunch, no one was there. But the crowd began to float in. Very friendly service. We started with dumplings, which was good and the peanut sauce very good. I ordered the pad Thai with shrimp. Deep in flavor! I liked it overall will be back. Great prices!

Yelp
Only good thing was the fried Thai spring rolls but it's hard to mess those up. Chicken basil noodles were bland. Fried rice was bland and mushy, which fried rice should never be. Massaman curry was really watery. The pla gratiem (deep fried snapper with garlic sauce) was a total disappointment. Fish was chewy and I had to scrape at least 3/4 of the sauce off the top because it was super sweet and gloppy, like bad Americanized Chinese food. The worst was the chicken satay - terrible sugary peanut suace and the chicken was soooo dryyyyy. We couldn't even eat most of the skewers - I mean, who leaves chicken satay skewers at the table? They were that bad. And the weirdest thing? The server never asked any of us how hot we wanted our dishes. That is UNHEARD OF at a Thai place. I asked for nam pla (Thai chiles with fish sauce) for the table just to ensure we had something spicy to add to our plates. So weird. I don't care how convenient this place is (which is why we picked it relative to our other stop that night). I am not coming back.

Adam C.

Yelp
Discovered this place near my new office. Absolutely outstanding old-time Thai restaurant. Reasonably priced and good and fast service. My go to has been the chicken satay every time - love it, and it's peanut sauce. Tried multiple lunch specials also. All good! Recommended! When I read some of the other reviews either some people are incredibly fussy or we have the wrong restaurant.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
The red and yellow curry were both so good! We've found our new Curry place in Dallas and I'm so excited.

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Ate from this place a few times. Food is pretty below average for the area. Normally, we don't order from this place because their dishes have inconsistent quality in flavor, but I like re-trying places every several months to give them more chances to improve. Imperial Rolls - Rolls are pretty small. Filled with mostly carrots and lettuce now instead of rice noodles. Fish sauce has chopped peanuts in it - taste like sweet-and-sour sauce with more sugar and vinegar. Weird. Basil Noodles - Flavor is weird this time. I've ordered this in the past a fews times & it's normally slightly sweet, but this time it taste funky - like the sauce base has fermented? Like feet. Pineapple Fried Rice - Pineapples have a good flavor. Rice has a strong curry flavor - pretty good. Texture of rice is kind of mushy. Overall, quality is about the same as before. I would not recommend this place. Based off of this experience, I would not go back.

Yelp
This is got to be the biggest Chinese food heist in dallas! Number one their food sucks! Number two their portions are absolutely should be considered criminal! I literally paid $25 for a combination fried rice and I got literally a bowl of fried rice! They super cut you on their food portions and throw in a couple of large pieces of tomatoes to deflect said transgression! This place sucks and they're super expensive! This is a picture of the gross ass rice that they served me that's left over after eating all of the ingredients of the combo meal! It's ridiculous! These people should be in jail!

Jim W.

Yelp
I love this place. Have been going here for years. Hadn't been in months snd stopped by tonight. The food was as good as ever. Always fresh, always cooked perfectly. As good as the food is, the staff is even better. Super friendly , helpful and attentive. This is my go to for Thai. It may not be the most fancy, but you can't beat the food and the people.

Grace B.

Yelp
Love this place they will make it spicy and they will make it's mild for all who don't like to much spice. The waitresses are always kind and make sure to refill water. Small atmosphere good staff

Gwen R.

Yelp
Ordered through Uber Eats and highly disappointed in the food quality. Previous years, this place was amazing. This order, EVERY dish is so sweet, I can't even eat it. Why does it even have sugar in Pad Thai? So ridiculously sweet.:(

Megan B.

Yelp
I've been going for over 20 years. I absolutely love this restaurant. Husband is driving out for takeout as we speak and we live 30+ mins away now. Worth it!

Jackie W.

Yelp
We LOVE Bangkok City at Greenville! We've been coming here for YEARS and it's hands down the best Thai around. We love it so much, even our two year old is obsessed!

Ebone' W.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to try this place because of my want for a crab fried rice; that combined with my first attempt of a failed delivery from grub hub only intensified this want. So, I returned and chose to dine in to satisfy this want...ok, craving. I ordered the gyoza and crab fried rice and was overall pretty underwhelmed about everything. The gyozas were steamed or boiled and were presented with too much water, although topped with a tasteless garlic or fried onion looking something and the crab rice was missing, frankly, the crab and seasoning. I was hoping to actually SEE the crab or have a piece in every bite, but yeah. #nhattoday The water was great though. Overall, ehhh....but I'll round the 2.5 star up to a 3--but my search for crab fried rice will continue.

Ellie L.

Yelp
Don't mistake this one for the Bangkok off of Bryan street!!! I did and was sadly given their tasteless/bland/ketchup pad Thai.

Teresa K.

Yelp
Food is GREAT! It's like going to a relative's house for home-cooked Thai food. Lot's of vegetables, spices, color and flavor. If the owners are testament to what eating like this does to a body, sign me up! Comparable to Royal Thai - only (sadly) doesn't have a full bar. Food was delievered to our table fast and hot! Just great! Had a steady stream of call-in take-out orders. Steamed rice was shaped like a butterfly! Cute! (Sanitizer at every table.) Great location near SMU. Outside building doesn't look like much, but go in! The food is real and delicious!

Sean J.

Yelp
A good place for lunch; clean location, diverse menu, and efficient. Pricing is low and food quality is high.

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
Craving for Thai food - booked were all of my go-tos - quick search and off to give Bangkok a try! Parking lot full, empty inside - Unassuming is their large weathered interior - Seated immediately! Service was great - Food was tasty - like their Chicken Satay most - good Green Curry with not much beef - Pineapple Rice had nice curry coating! Great pricing for the large portions - will keep this restaurant as a possible alternative from now on! Cheers!

Lindsay A.

Yelp
I love Thai food & I am so glad this place is right by my apartment. Honestly the green curry is some of the best I've ever had. The portion size is large and all of the food is super tasty. I recommend the green curry, pad see ew, papaya salad, seaweed salad... dang near everything I've tried has been on point! They prepare everything fast for take out & even dine-in is a pleasant experience-- they deliver the rice shaped like a butterfly... I mean, it's the little things! The staff are always friendly & the space is clean. 9/10. Would recommend.

Matt P.

Yelp
I think we may have visited almost every Thai spot off Greenville, and this may be the last of them. Another standard, takeout option. We used ubereats and the service was probably the fastest turnaround time-wise. Tom Yum soup is usually the tell of a good Thai spot, and this was as authentic as they come!

John S.

Yelp
Great food and GREAT service - was shocked to see it wasn't rated that well. I am a regular and love it

Ruby A.

Yelp
Ordered when I went shopping to Northpark mall. Ordered drunken noodles with shrimp. Noodles were cooked good. Unfortunately the shrimp was over cooked and I couldn't get myself to eat the shrimp. Carrots still needed a minute to be the soft texture you crave in a Thai dish. Ended up not feeling satisfied and still hungry. Was really rooting for this place .

Amit M.

Yelp
You can not go wrong at this place. We were in Dallas for almost a month and we have tried their food 3 times. We have tried Pineapple Fried Rice, Spicy Fried Rice with Chicken, Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp, Goyuza, Pad Kee Mao with Chicken, Pad See Ew with Shrimp etc. You just can not go wrong on food here. Ambiance is average and Service is good. You can always order take outs if you do not like to sit in.

Melinda J.

Yelp
I had a dilemma deciding between the red or the green curry. When I called in my order and ask the person who answered which did they prefer the red or the green and she said they both were good but she had a preference for the green curry. She was spot on with her preference for the green curry it was excellent. I also order the satay chicken appetizer but I found it to be dry and quite tasteless even with the sauces that were provided with it.

Samuel O.

Yelp
Considering there are over a dozen Thai restaurants within a 5 mile radius, the food here is stands out from the pack. After spending a few weeks in Thailand, my wife and I consider ourselves amateur Thai foodies . The good: they keep the menu pretty traditional to the Thai cuisine, but there is a lot of variety to choose from. I ordered the spicy basil rice with chicken dish. Even though it's hard to mess up such a common Thai dish, it was very tasty! My wife ordered the chicken pad Thai dish. The pad Thai sauce was truly authentic and had a god balance of sweet and savory! The bad: the location is great but the parking is options are horrendous when the up front spaces are filled. Luckily, you will find up front parking most days since most people order takeout/delivery. There was only two other people dining in when we were there. This could be a positive if you enjoy eating with fewer people around you. The manager told me that most of their business is takeout and deliveries through all the apps (Ubereats, DoorDash, favor, etc). Overall, if you want to try authentic Thai food, this is the right place!

Sam A.

Yelp
Food was not fresh, my wife and I got spring rolls (microwaved) pot stickers we also microwaved. Drunken Noodles were terrible, the noodles were over cooked and the beef was chewy, not very high quality. Could not finish meal. Service wasn't bad, they need to find another cook.

Marcy A.

Yelp
Everything was delicious! The food came out quickly! It was fresh, tasty, and well presented. I had the fresh spring rolls and glass noodles with chicken. This is my new Dallas go to Thai spot!

Amanda H.

Yelp
This place was so cute! I had the pad see ew noodles and the Thai soup. They were both delicious!! The noddles could have used a little more spice but I'd rather that than too spicy.

Guy H.

Yelp
I've eatin here a few times over the years. Last nite after an SMU graduation, three of us ha dinner here. The basil noodle dish was good as was the cashew chicken. However, my masaman curry seemed hastily throw together and lacked flavor. Judging by the empty at 7:30 Saturday I guess they may be in decline. Overall it's just average including service.

Tesla S.

Yelp
Today we got takeout from Bangkok on Greenville for the first time in about a year. Our order in total for two entrees and an appetizer (orange chicken, pad thai, and imperial rolls) was around $54 with tip and paid extra for brown rice but was given white. The food was BLAND, I've had worse imperial rolls but these were a close second. I would rather go to ZAPP which is a chain restaurant that has better flavor and spice quality. Even Panda Express tastes better for less money. We will be adding this to our list of post-covid boycotts. Don't waste your money here... Money doesn't go as far these days, so when I pay for something I expect it to be quality. If I wanted cheap tasteless food Id go through a drive thru.

Dipesh P.

Yelp
Very average food. Very unprofessional and rude delivery driver. We ordered delivery from here and the driver was really rude about the whole tipping process. We ordered about $40 in food and the driver essentially said the tip we offered was not what he expected and that we should go pick up the food next time. Mind you, the place is not very far and we are by no means cheapskates when it comes to tipping, it was just that they are literally a couple of blocks from us (we only got delivery because we had a 2 year old and couldn't leave). I went ahead and tipped him what he wanted but we will never be giving this place any more of our business.

Preet K.

Yelp
I've been going to this place for a while now. I had given it a 5 star review before but the quality of the food has gone down. Last time I was there I got the spicy fried rice with tofu but the rice and tofu but tasted stale and the tofu was burnt. Their spice isn't consistent either, I can ask for a 3 and it'll end up being very spicy which would taste like a 5. I hope their food quality improves because I really liked this restaurant.

Soham R.

Yelp
Tried the gyoza and spring rolls - they were okayish to taste and somewhat overpriced

Paley W.

Yelp
This place is my go-to Asian food restaurant near SMU. I think I've been enough over the 15yrs to finally be able to review it. The food is authentic and and at same time fits American tastes too. The price is just right, they've only hiked it once in the past decade. My favorite item is the basil noodles, which some of you might know it as drunken noodles. It can be a bit salty at times but I'd get it again and again. It impresses me they can make the taste consistent for such a long time. My friend loves the sticky mango rice there, if you're still hungry you should definitely try it. Parking maybe tricky during lunch peak hour; check the side of the building or way to the right that's really for Milos.

Sam W.

Yelp
This is our go-to spot for Thai food. Reasonably priced, good quality, and one of the better spots in the area!

Lauren V.

Yelp
I honestly don't know why I haven't tried this place before - I've only lived near it for 15 years and it's DELICIOUS! I ordered delivery and it was here in about half the time expected and piping hot! I had the basil noodles (with beef) and the Tom Kha Gai soup and both were spot on. The the sauce on the noodles had a ton of flavor and was just the right consistency (I hate a watery sauce) and the beef very tender. The soup was very fresh and balanced in flavors. Definitely getting my business again!

Lindsey P.

Yelp
I've been to Thailand and can vouch that this is fantastic authentic Thai food. Casual atmosphere with kind staff.

Gary F.

Yelp
On my first post lockdown business trip I find my usual hotel doesn't have restaurant or BAR service on Mondays and Tuesdays. (Note to self: No more Monday, Tuesday travel.) Enter Volcano Shrimp. (Native Thai spice). Enter GrubHub. Knock at the door. Brown paper bag with a staple in the fold. What no chopsticks?! Spork, OK Delicious? C'est magnifique!

Alexandra G.

Yelp
I used Uber Eats. I ordered the Pad Thai without egg and it was pretty tasty. I do feel like it tasted slightly too sweet, but I gobbled it down anyway :) I also got the vegetable spring rolls and those tasted pretty good as well. All in all a pretty solid 4 out of 5 for the food :) and everything was correct in the delivery order and fast!

Travis S.

Yelp
My favorite go-to Thai restaurant in Dallas. The food is great, prices are affordable, and the staff is so kind. Really happy to have seen this restaurant make it through the pandemic. My favorite dishes are the Tom kha soup and the drunken noodles. So good.

Dewayne P.

Yelp
Just terrible. I ordered fried rice with tofu and vegetables. Guess what they gave me? Fried rice with tofu and zero vegetables. Not sure why that's so hard to understand.

Carlos C.

Yelp
Very nice cozy place. Great service. Plates were super tasty and a very good size. Definitely will go back!

Lindsay S.

Yelp
Ordered delivery from Post mates from here and it was terrible. Ordered shrimp egg rolls that smelled so fishy and gross and feel bad for anyone who had to be in the elevator after them. Definitely very old, frozen gross shrimp. Also ordered veggie tofu red curry and like many reviews on here there was some off taste to it. It was chemical like to me. A little like dish soap. So what ever the common theme they have of dish water / dish soap I think this place is best to be avoided until they figure that out.

Mehrin I.

Yelp
This is my favorite Thai place to get delivery from. Seriously - I've tried them all in a 5 mile radius because I love Thai food and hate cooking. This time I got the basil noodles, which was so flavorful! I've gotten the pad see yew and pad ki mao here before but the flavor in the basil noodles was far more phenomenal. HOWEVER, I found a hair in the noodles at the very end of my meal and that was just a bummer, I couldn't bring myself to eat the rest. This is the first time this happened in the 4+ times I've ordered from here though. I also got the pineapple fried rice without raisins (you know, $15 minimum for delivery and all), and that was very good too. Somewhat standard and hard to mess up, but they didn't mess it up so that's good! Finally, usually the people who deliver are polite and come to the front entrance of my apartment complex. This time, the person went to some random back entrance (I have no idea where) so I asked if he could come to the front. Kindly, he did but seemed a little peeved. Idk about you, but any food deliveries I have gotten (including from here) have been delivered to my front door as a standard so that was a little weird. Edit May 2018: Those who deliver are a hit or miss. I had one who was super super nice, and texted me asking where I want to pick up. Today, the person who delivered was rude. I went downstairs to get my food and he aggressively handed it to me and just walked away. Didn't say a word. No response when I said thank you. Nothing. Not cool dude. Anyways, overall, great flavorful food, large portions, but hopefully you don't find a surprise in your food.

Melss L.

Yelp
So after reading the reviews I was very skeptical because I am very picky when it comes to food . I decided to just try it myself and let me tell you... someone here mention that the pad Thai had a wet dog smell and they were so right. !!! I could not eat it it was very bad maybe I'll try something else next time but not the pad thai it is not good there in my opinion .

Glenn A.

Yelp
Good dependable Thai food, with a broad range of options. Soup appetizers are nice, and savory Pad Thai with low carb noodles is my favorite. Tasteful interior makes it a comfortable and quiet spot to catch up with a friend over Thai cuisine. Glenn Almack
