Find Satay Toast and Moo Ping Skewers at Belmont’s Bangkok Belly | Eater Portland

"Set in the old Pantorium Building on SE Belmont, this Thai street food spot from Kat Thirakomen and David Fiske leans classic with a dash of American innovation and offers plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. The signature moo ping skewer—marinated and seared pork collar from local Lan-Roc Farms—anchors a small-plates menu made for beers-and-grazing nights. The you-won’t-find-this-anywhere-else pick is the larb mac salad: light and creamy yet deeply seasoned and fairly spicy, a side with the personality of a main. Don’t miss the satay toast—toasted milk bread strips with a decadent satay peanut sauce—basically a deconstructed peanut butter sandwich with a bit of spice that pairs well with the rest of the menu. For a killer value, the gai satay comes with both the satay toast and a tangy cucumber relish that could double as a salad; pair it with the mac salad for an incredible mix of flavors and textures for less than $15." - Ben Coleman

From the moment I stepped inside I felt cared for and catered too. The service was amazing. The food was delicious. We kept ordering more and more cause we wanted to try everything. I couldn’t get enough of the sticky rice and used it to soak up all the juices of each dish. The Namtok Kor Moo Yang was my absolute favorite. It was spicy and well balanced with a refreshing citrus underlayer. The steelhead was my second favorite and it was perfectly pan fried. Perfect date spot.

We came from Seattle to try Bangkok Belly and it was absolutely worth the trip. The food is fantastic! Moo Ping and Hed Ping skewers are a must! I loved the herb salad, yum steelhead, and the yellow curry tastes just like Bangkok. The Larb Mac Salad was new to us but surprisingly perfect. The drinks are outstanding, especially the Ruay Ruay Ruay(felt like being back in Thailand) We met the owners. The owners told us they really focus on ingredient quality, and I can absolutely feel it. Great ambiance and amazing service. I would absolutely come back again. Highly recommend Bangkok Belly!

Absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend for a date night or a few friends. Meat was super tender everything tasted super fresh. Spice levels were perfect for us. The space is fairly small so probably not ideal for groups over 6 people.

I was so excited to try this new spot and it did not disappoint. Herb salad was refreshing and tangy. Namtok Hed was deliciously spicy and made my tongue dance and the tofu skewers were exactly what I would want a tofu skewer to be. Delicious vegan options and I didn’t even get a chance to explore the drink menu but it looked amazing, will definitely be back! Cute cozy atmosphere and great service too. Go eat!

Been eyeing it since I moved to the neighborhood and saw the signs for them to open soon. Food is very good, service is really nice, the space is cute. Got moo-ping, larb mac salad, curry. I had a terrible week at work and this shit fixed me. The curry? Bro. Sooo bright, fishy, acidic, deep—and everything was wonderfully spicy. I WILL be back to try everything.

I'm from Bangkok and this is def my favorite place in the PNW. I personally enjoy, Thai bar/street food which is extremely difficult to find a good place in the PNW. I'm not a big drinker but the cocktail list very creative even for a Thai person with various Thai herbs infused. Def coming back.

Yelp
I went here for dinner and absolutely loved everything about this place! It's rare to find street food style thai food in the city so this was a gem. It is decorated very well and the ambience inside is great. It's perfect for a date night or if you are wanting to enjoy good food with a good conversation. Their menu was small but honestly, everything sounded good so I still had trouble deciding what to get. Since we were a party of 2, we sadly did not get to explore most of the menu. We got the moo ping (pork) skewer, hed ping (oyster mushroom) skewer, namtok kor moo yang (grilled pork collar, salad style), and the coconut pandan daiquiri. The coconut pandan daiquiri was super refreshing, light, and very easy to drink. The pandan and lime flavor really came through. The skewers were amazing. I really liked the hed ping over the moo ping, which says a lot because I usually prefer the meat option. The namtok kor moo yang was definitely our favorite. It was so refreshing and the perfect amount of spicy. I was a huge fan of the mint leaves and the roasted rice powder in the dish. We used the sauce from this dish as a dip for everything because it was that good! The staff were really friendly and welcoming. We had a short but brief conversation with one of the owners of the place and learned a lot. The restaurant is located on Belmont, in-between a lot of other food spots and lively bars, so it is perfect if you are looking to grab a bite before continuing your night. There should be ample street parking nearby. Overall, I really enjoyed this place and would definitely go here again to explore more items on their menu.

Yelp
Dragged a friend here for their soft opening and we both walked away supremely impressed! We were greeted by the owners - super sweet couple who were taking orders and running food, they had kitchen and bar staff fulfilling the orders and everyone was on point. It's a cute space, cozy and a little on the small side so be sure to get there early or be prepared for a wait. The menu is pretty tight, with a handful of skewers, salads, and side dishes. We tried three of the skewers, the mushroom salad, and the lamb mac salad, and I sampled a couple of cocktails from the bar. Everything was out of the park! The pork skewer was savory and came with a spicy dipping sauce I wanted to drink. The chicken satay was cooked to perfection. The tofu skewer was good, but could've been more flavorful. The mushroom salad was delicious, but be warned, it's spicier than it appears! Overall, lots of veggie options on the menu and the food was very impressive. The cocktails I tried were equally delightful. The coconut pandan daiquiri was refreshing and not too sweet, while the spicy vodka cocktail had the perfect amount of heat. They were busy even during the soft opening, but everyone was friendly and we didn't have any issues with service or our food. It's clear that everyone who works there cares a great deal about their food and their guests' experience, and we left well-sated and well-taken care of. I can't wait to return!

Yelp
I heard about the soft opening this weekend from a friend. I was intrigued by the story so I had to check it out. I must say, I am absolutely impressed. The menu is small but perfect and well thought out. We were a party of 4 so fortunately, we were able to explore most of the menu items. The people working were all amazing and hospitable. The cocktails were all incredible and the food was extremely tasty and high quality. It's a small space with a great ambiance. A must try for anyone in or visiting Portland.
