"Long a jewel of Ferndale, Bangkok Cafe is consistently excellent and their prices have remained reasonable and the service stellar. The menu is lengthy but is classic Thai: curries, pad cashew, pad thai, fried rice, rice noodles, served with a choice of beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, crabmeat, or scallop. Mind your spice level. Entrees are enough to serve two." - Monica Williams

Delicious chicken fried rice. The pad Thai was also very good (but the chicken fried rice was better!) The atmosphere is kinda strange, it seems like there’s a lot of boxes that are not put away but I’m guessing they use the main dining room for storage since you cannot eat inside if you want full service. They just don’t offer it. The food was ready very fast (10 minutes) and the portions were huge and lasted at least two meals. Paid around $40 for all the food pictured, including the tip. I would definitely order from here again.

I decided to try this place on my lunch break, tempted by the rave reviews and my craving for Thai food. I ordered my usual Thai dish—chicken pad Thai with a side of coconut curry sauce. The meal was decent and I’d order from here again. You get a great amount of food for the price which is a plus. Additionally, the staff was very helpful, especially since it was my first time ordering/trying this restaurant. 8/10.

I love Thai food, and this is definitely in my top 5 for metro Detroit! I ordered the Pad Se Ew with shrimp, and it came out literally less than 5 minutes after I ordered. They only do carry out right now but there is seating available. My food was super hot and SO good! I didn’t love the spring roll but I just prefer the smaller version. I parked in the lot next door for $1.25/hr

This is by far the best Thai restaurant in the Detroit area. Everything is affordable and they give you large tasty portions. Their recipe and quality of the food hasn’t changed at all since I ate here as a kid. Ordered the chicken and shrimp fried curry. Spicy and yummy as always. Wish there were more restaurants like this around. 10/10 ;)

Best Thai food hands down 🙌🏽 I always get the pad prik with shrimp and chicken. Worth it for the price. I love my food spicy and they give it to me spicy when I ask. I just wish you could get noodles with some entrees. The lady I spoke with said I couldn't even pay an up charge for noodles 😖

Take-out and "self-serve" only. But the food is terrific, and has been for a long time. I ate here when I was a teenager, and I made a trip from where I live in Windsor just to have some Prince Chicken.

This place had very good reviews so we gave it a try, we're out-of-towners. Being vegan and vegetarian we were able to order a couple of items off the menu, and they were excellent. Our friend who is not vegetarian had gotten there before us and finished his meal already and he gave us a tip - their dishes are really, really hot and spicy! So we ordered a four out of ten on the heat scale, and he was right! The waitress said that was a medium level, but boy was it HOT! My eyes were watering and nose running - but it was so good I couldn't stop eating. Huge heaping portion, enough to take home for a second meal. Yes, the decor of the place isn't high-class, but who the heck cares when the food is this good! I'd give this place 5 stars if they had more vegan choices on the menu, that's my only critique.

Bangkok cafe definitely has a mom and pop feel and a home made delicious taste to match! The food was excellent and each dish had flavors that were sufficiently complex and well balanced. If you are familiar with thai food already, you will like or love the food. It is not overly altered for the American Pallette. For appetizers, The Tom Yam Guy (hot and sour Thai style, not Chinese) and Tom kha guy (Tom yam with coconut milk) were both so flavorful, comforting and delicious. We also had Fresh rolls (meat, cilantro and lettuce wrapped in rice paper) which were very refreshing (not at all savory and must be eaten with the accompanying sauce for more flavor). The shrimp curry was a thin coconut milk style and incredibly savory; spiced and seasoned well. It has a nice kick to it; I ordered spicy but they have mild and medium options as well. The pad Thai was not too sweet or bland as I have experienced at other places; the flavors were well balanced, layered well and incredibly delicious and savory. I will be returning! Fair warning, this place is charming, but not "fine dining" atmosphere. They do have ample booth and table seating to sit and enjoy, but do not expect any frills or fancy scenery
