The Best Thai Restaurants In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Bangkok City is a Bird Road staple that’s been around since 1987 and has what we think is the best crispy duck in Miami. There are several ways you can order it, but we like the royal thai basil version with chili paste, bell peppers, and basil leaves. It’s sweet, sticky, and crunchy—like the crispy duck version of caramel popcorn. But Bangkok City has other great dishes. The massaman curry with beef has a slow burn that creeps up on you the way sitting too close to a campfire does. But the peanuts and sweet coconut curry balance the heat." - mariana trabanino, ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo

The 19 Best Restaurants On Bird Road

"Bangkok City is a staple that’s been around since 1987 and has our favorite crispy duck in the city. There are several ways you can order it, but you’re missing out if you don’t go for the royal thai basil with chili paste, bell peppers, and basil leaves. It’s sweet, sticky, and crunchy—like the crispy duck version of caramel popcorn. But Bangkok City has other great dishes. The massaman curry with beef has a slow burn that creeps up on you the way sitting too close to a campfire does. But the peanuts and sweet coconut curry balance the heat. And unlike a lot of Thai spots where sushi is an afterthought—it’s actually good here. Get the I Love Lucy roll with fried shrimp, crab, and cream cheese covered in tempura flakes as curly as Lucy’s own hair." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer

Volcano Chicken was a hit!!! Honestly, everything we ordered was amazing. The Pad Thai and the Fried Rice…. exquisite. Best Thai place ever! The environment was extremely welcoming and very family friendly. This place was bustling with folks but the service was excellent! Want to try something new at an affordable price? — Bangkok City. You’ll thank me later.

Google
A staple of Thai and sushi food in South Miami. The restaurant has been around longer than I can remember at least 25 years if not longer. Would be better to think of it as a really good Thai place that also serves decent sushi. The Thai dishes were served at the proper spiciness requested. The wasabi served with the sushi was barely flavorful at all. The basil beef Thai was especially good. However there have been corners cut to save money. The aquarium that had been there for at least a decade is gone because of the cost and the shrimp chips given to one as they sit down are now for purchase only unless you order the two dishes they come with. Rice used to be served out of a giant pot and now is given in tiny bowls. When you ask for more sometimes you're begrudgingly given one and sometimes you're asked why when you haven't finished every piece from the small bowl you recieved earlier. Curry with no rice is like soccer with no soccer ball. It's unfortunate and while I will still patronize the restaurant I will be thinking of how it used to be run unfortunately. There were also a number of flies around our food and no one did anything to help us get them away from our food.

Google
Delicious food had by everyone in my group. Their sushi rolls are huge. You decide how much spiciness you want in your meal, the food came out lightning fast, and everything was fresh and tasty. In addition to the food being great the service was amazing. We came with our 16 month old baby and everyone in there seemed so excited and happy to see her. Our waitress played peek-a-boo while we ate and they made fast friends.

Google
The customer service was great, the place is simple and modest but clean and welcoming. We ordered Thai spring rolls (SO GOOD), ebi shumai, and two Pad Thais, and everything was delicious. You can tell they make everything fresh when you order. There’s lots of parking, and it’s in a great spot. We had a nice time and I’ll be back to try more items from the menu!

Bruh. THIS. IS. A. STAPLE. I absolutely have loved and will always love Bangkok City. It’s an amazing place with amazing food and amazing deals! We recently went for their lunch menu and WOW have I been missing out. We got the lunch box special that comes with a soup or salad, a half serving of a California roll & your choice of two selections from a list of (8) items. I’m definitely coming back more often. Fun fact: my wife and I got married at Lincoln’s Beard back in 2019. The first meal we ate post wedding was Bangkok City. This place is amazing and will hold a dear place in our hearts.

This place is a hidden gem. I’ve been coming here for more than 12 years and you still get the same authentic and delicious food. Highly recommend the red curry and chicken fried rice. The service is also amazing. Dine in or take out!

Google
Tremendous customer service! I felt the warm welcome and aura from the moment I walked in the door! I was treated like I have been a life long customer all thanks to the staffs glorious rapport. Another customer was celebrating their birthday and BCT&S provided and cake and music of which the entire restaurant including myself and my table took part in singing happy birthday and clapping which was also a great experience. The atmosphere was really nice, beautiful authentic cultural decor. The food! 🍱 was almost if not the best Suchi I have ever tasted!! I ordered "the Bomb Squad", It was delicious 🤤😋

Yelp
I would call this a hidden gem but I feel like everybody but me already knew about this spot. I love to get lunch here. They have great lunch specials that include a salad or soup. The food is fresh and delicious. My favorite is the red curry. Service is friendly and quick. Their I Love Lucy roll is great too but a bit on the pricier side. The vibe is very casual. Perfecta lunch break by yourself or in a group.

Yelp
The service was great! Very attentive server. Met a friend there for a quick bite. Ended up getting the pad tai, a sushi roll and a veggie broth soup. I was recommended the soup by the server and although it was good, I would've rather ordered a Miso soup. The pad Thai was very sweet and tasty. Enough to share between two people. I remember we shared and still had leftovers. I don't remember the name of the sushi roll we ordered but it was really good! The ambiance was quiet and calm. Not a lot of people there for a late lunch so the noise level was quiet.

Yelp
Bangkok City never disappoints, the hostesses and servers are always attentive and so nice! We come here often, and it's worth the drive! Food is always delicious, some of our favorite go-to's are Pad Thai, Beef & Broccoli, Pretty in Pink Roll, but there are so many more! The ambiance has a good amount of seating and you rarely have to wait. Service is very fast, so if there is a wait I recommend waiting, you'll be seated quickly but if you can't wait you can put an order to go and take it with you.

Yelp
Been going to this place for years and it never fails as always hits the spot. Best volcano chicken ever and no where else compares. Always crispy and flavorful. Great portions always. Great service as the same employees and servers worked there for years, which is a great testament to the restaurant and management and the service they provide. Fried cream dessert of a must try to finish if a great meal!

Yelp
This spot is next to my house and I love coming here to pick up food. The hostess is so kind and always asks how my day is going when I pick up food. My go to is their shrimp pad Thai, steamed gyoza and the Panang curry chicken. Their portions are big so if I'm not sharing with someone, I have food for two meals. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The place could use a renovation. It's got a homey feel, like you've walked into your Asian grandmother's home. So maybe not great for a date or celebration. But where it lacks in decor and presentation they make it up in the food. Great place for lunch and take out with good service.

Nabi F.

Yelp
Been a customer for 30 years, never disappoints. Food is always consistent and service is on point. Everyone I introduce to Bangkok becomes a regular.

Yelp
A nice spot to grab some Thai food after hitting the breweries. The menu is extensive and the restaurant is busy on a Saturday night. We had the panang curry (which didn't have peanuts!) as well as the Ruson roll. Both were good and satiating. Very vegetarian friendly menu and it seemed like the staff was also accommodating to some changes on the menu. Overall a solid experience and a good option if you're in the area.

Yelp
This place never misses with a good comfort meal - whether Thai food or some good sushi. The staff is always so nice

Yelp
I've driven by Bangkok City many times on Bird Road , I finally decided to pop in and check them out. Immediately, I noticed that inside is a little rundown. It feels old in there and it is a little musty. My waitress was really nice and the food did come out super fast. The Pad Thai was very mediocre, it wasn't very tasty. Overall, I wasn't impressed.

Yelp
A lil Thai & Sushi spot in Miami. Guys, I've found it. The best dynamite appetizer I've had thus far on my search. Came here randomly after working out at a Youfit nearby & it did not disappoint! They have great Thai & sushi options. We came specifically craving Pad See Ew but when we got there, it wasn't on the menu. We can confirm, they do have it & it is gooooood. Of course, I had to get the dynamite appetizer. It came in a good size & had a mix of all the seafood with the close to perfect sauce to top it off, all on a bed of rice. The mix included shrimp, scallops, imitation crab, mushroom, onions, and more that I currently can't recall. The perfect combo and a great appetizer to share! We also got the Melting roll which had tempura cooked salmon in it. This roll was super good & glad we got this and the two other items to share. The inside of the restaurant is a good size and had low lighting (in a good way) despite being pretty early in the afternoon. It looked like a lot do people chose this spot to take a date or family and friends. The service was super fast & friendly! I love how the menu also had photos of the rolls (although I wish they had descriptions) and wish more sushi spot had photos of their rolls. Overall, a great place to grab lunch or dinner. And, of course, I can't wait to come back again for the dynamite appetizer!

Yelp
This place was a nice find in a busy Miami area. Parking was tough as the lot is pretty busy. Went here for a family dinner and we ordered family style. Prices are a bit steep for Thai so don't be shocked. I was a bit annoyed that the high chair seatbelts were all broken. Service was friendly and quick. You can adjust the level of spicy and I wish we didn't have to make the dishes milder. Inside was packed and you could tell this place is popular. Definitely a fan of the papaya salad and the spicy beef salad. You can't go wrong with what you order. So many great options!
google avatar

Yelp
Great Thai food and amazing on point staff. I went to this place craving curry and I got exactly what I wanted.

J J.

Yelp
The Massamun curry was sickeningly sweet. I ordered it to go. The chicken, onions, curry--everything tasted sugary. I don't even want to know how much sugar was put into this dish. It was not edible. Not even mildly enjoyable. I tried to eat more than a couple bites but just could not stomach it. This isn't food. Halloween definitely came early and I'm scared. This order is going straight in the trash.

Yelp
I highly recommend the Green Dragon Roll! I've been coming here for over 20 years with my family, we love the service and food 10/10 restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Came back to try the shrimp pad Thai and papaya salad both are a must have and portions are huge.
google avatar

Krisztina M.

Yelp
I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I wish someone would have written this before going there. Being in love with traditional Thai flavors, this was not it. They may use different recipes, I respect that, and the service was great. But the Pad Thai was literally smothered in an all pink and sweet-like-candy sauce, even the scrambled eggs were pink. Also it had no peanuts, no dried shrimps and no tamarind paste, just sugar. The other dishes were lacking traditional ingredients and were very sugary as well. I picked this place based on the other reviews, but just kep in mind that we all have different taste, and this is probably catered to the specific neighborhood, not for those who seek traditional Thai flavors.

Kelly O.

Yelp
I got the wrong order the egg rolls are completely refrie! Completely disappointed , the roll shrimp cocktail is terrible!
google avatar

Yelp
The best duck in Miami, get it basil style. Sushi here is very fresh get a tuna style roll, service is always on point.

Yelp
Visited this place during a recent Miami trip. Friend recommend this place to me as they told me the are family owned and the service is great. My friend was spot on. Coming from a Cali native. The parking is shared with other business. Spaces are on the smaller end, but there are spots behind the building. Behind the building there are other business and a small road. There are plenty of tables and seats. There is no outdoor seating. The restrooms are in the main area and there is another room that has a sushi bar with more tables and seats. The decor is typical of your Asian style restaurants. The food here is WOW. The menu is massive! I had to ask the waiter what they recommended and they did deliver. The pictures speak for themselves. We had a party of 6 people so we shared family style. The food tasted fresh and was unique. I would recommend this place to my family and friends when visiting the area. If I'm back in Miami I will be coming back to this spot!

Brian R.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Love the longtime owner! Sushi is always fresh and great portions. This is a regular spot for my family and I.

Yelp
Yummy quick spot in the neighborhood! The kanisu was delicious and fresh. Loved the I love Lucy roll and the red curry! We also got the pad Thai which I didn't love (everyone else I was with did). Service was great, our waiter was very sweet. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
The food and service was pretty good however the place looked a little run down and needs some TLC.

Yelp
Excellent food at reasonable prices, very friendly personnel, and the ambiance very peaceful. Definitely a place to return

Yelp
Delicious food & the service is superb. Say hello to Mynoi when you go. Tell her Ozzy sent you. I've never eaten anything here that I've been disappointed with.
google avatar

Yelp
Great little spot. It's owned by Ruson but has a totally different vibe. No hibachi and more mom & pops feel. The family runs the place. Good Thai food and sushi. The super tuna is the best sushi roll I've ever had!
google avatar

Yelp
Had the pleasure of visiting my favorite Thai food restaurant yesterday. I have been have enjoying this gem for over 30 years. They have both Sushi and Thai food, I go for the Thai, my daughter who always prefferes sushi, also gives it a high rating. Casual family atmosphere, resonable prices, large portions to share. We had stay pork, cashew nut chicken and pad thai noodles..all YUMMY Trying them, you will love them, great service too. Just a heads up, they close between meals from 3pm and 5pm.

Janet S.

Yelp
This Miami gem created delicious and beautiful catering for our party! We hosted a bridal shower for 20+ people, and, at the bride-to-be's request, we ordered sushi, spring rolls and other delicacies. The restaurant punctually delivered 2 phenomenal sushi boats (one was almost 3 feet long!) artfully arranged, with a stunning variety of fresh sushi and sashimi; The boats themselves were a work of art and the most gorgeous and delectable centerpieces a party could hope for. The guests were so impressed and we looked like rock star hostesses!!

Yelp
My go to local lunch or my date night spot . All sushis are delicious and budgetly priced ! But there are more than just good sushi ! I love their chicken/shrimp/octopus/ volcano cause, I love spicy ! Especially pregnant! They have lunch hours then dinner hours ; when ordering to go ! Try their ice teas ! Refreshing ! It's small but cozy and in the same parking lot as ihop !

Yelp
Terrific authentic Thai food. Great staff & waiters ready to accommodate your requests. My go to restaurant for good food at reasonable prices.

Yelp
When you go out to eat it's usually for the food but you also want a great experience and that's exactly what I had my first time here tonight. Had been craving my exxxtra spicy Chicken Pad Thai since I moved back to Miami and somehow through Yelp and luck wound up here. The service was excellent! The food was authentic and delicious (they even put big pieces of scrambled egg white in it) and they'll bring you 4 jars to the table. One is the Thai red spice. The other pickled jalapeños. Then fish sauce with Thai Chiles cut up in it and lots of them. The last is a red hot sauce. All delicious. Lime came with it but I had to request peanuts because I like them. I took them to go though because I was having so much fun talking to the table next to me and the servers and watching them amazed at how exxxtra spicy I eat my food I never got a chance to ask until I was full. They bring bean sprouts,,carrots,,cabbage and a leafy green on the very heavy plate as well. My water was constantly refilled. And I had a nice conversation on the way out with the initial server who I greeted and am now known as "Hot Lady!" lol I have found my spot and will definitely be back. It was an all around excellent and fun and delicious experience!!! I couldn't have asked for anything more. They also have a sushi bar. The ambience was nice as well. Highly recommend!

Samantha D.

Yelp
It's a massive menu, so it can't all be hits, but some all-time faves here. The crispy duck dishes are terrific. Brilliantly flavorful duck, with whichever curry you prefer cleverly served on the side, preserving the crispiness. All the curries are delicious, with the avocado in the mussaman an inspired touch. The tiger tear is a wonderful take on the Thai beef salad, always perfectly balanced between sweet/tangy/spicy, with all the chillies you'd care to add on the side. The mee grob seems basic on the face of it, just sweet-ish, somewhat crunchy noodles with a few shrimp. BUT... In combination with the tiger tear it's a revelation. The tangy onions and spicy beef in the salad bring the noodles to a transcendent level, and vice versa. Run by absolute pros for over thirty years, the dining experience is always great. Never bothered with the sushi, so no comment on that.
google avatar

Rolando G.

Yelp
Green dragon sushi roll (so creamy!), fried gyoza, and chicken fried rice have been my favorite dishes from this restaurant! I always order pickup and the front desk workers are very warm to me. I can't wait to try some of their curries. I was not impressed by their chicken pad Thai though, unfortunately.
google avatar

Cary M.

Yelp
Renu is a wonderful waitress. She greets me as a friend. The food the service is great I recommend this restaurant for any event.

Melissa O.

Yelp
Really delicious Thai food and wonderful family operated business. Go to for a low key dinner with warm service.

Yelp
This is a nice quick stop Thai restaurant food is decent and filling, it's not a specialty Thai spot but it's exceptable. I was surprised of the accommodation the made to assist us with a gluten free rice option
google avatar

Lauren P.

Yelp
By far the best sushi in Miami! Their red curry chicken, pad Thai, and volcano duck are all to die for! I love Lucy Roll is my personal favorite!
google avatar

Jorge R.

Yelp
Came here after some Yelp research because we were craving two different things - my wife was in the mood for Thai food and I was in a sushi mood. This place exceeded our expectations for both! We started with a couple of glasses of reasonably priced Cabernet Sauvignon. They were good. The place was busy! Nearly full restaurant and a steady stream of folks picking up to-go orders. We tried the Coconut Milk soup which blew us away! It's a must try. I had the 'I Love Lucy' roll, with fried shrimp, avocado, masago, cream cheese and other good stuff. Portion was good, cuts thick and filling. Lots of other enticing looking rolls on the menu for next time. My wife had the chicken Pad Thai. I think the noodles were really well made , sauce a little sweet and it hit the spot for me. We had it with some of the special fried rice that worked well with it. We had a really good time here - came hungry , left stuffed!

Yelp
Food here is always so good! Service is fast. My water is never empty. The portions are big. The servers are all nice and attentive. Would definitely come again.

Yelp
The food is excellent. The kids wanted to go 2 days in a row. Prices inexpensive. Service first class, ambiance great. The background music is great. Best Thai food in Miami.

Yelp
I was in the for curry, because I just love it. My boyfriend introduced me to this place and he was right, the food is amazing. We had the red curry and the Love Lucy roll. The Love Lucy roll was delicious! I now know why it's they're best seller, you have to try it!! The service was quick and the waiters worked fast. I would definitely go here again.

Yelp
Bangkok City is located close to our house and it been years since I have been back, so this past Saturday we decided to have some dinner. It was very busy, but the host had us seated right away. We ordered the sushi appetizer which consist of California roll, and few nigiri ( slices of fish on top of rice). Very fresh and a good quantity, than my wife ordered the spider and dragon rolls for her main entree which were also very tasty. For the kids we ordered a fried chicken steak which was nicely breaded and they devoured it within minutes. For my main entree I decided to order garlic frog legs, Bangkok City is one of the few Miami restaurants that offer this dish. Frog legs taste like chicken but with the consistency of fish, the garlic sauce was exceptional. Here the staff are the friendliest people around you almost feel like family, they been running Bangkok City for 34 years and they haven't lost their touch.

Yelp
This place has great consistency with delicious food! It's family owned, which I love even more. The volcano cHicken is one of my favorite hot dishes. The special fried rice has a great assortment of meat and is perfectly moist. They have a great selection of rolls and they are always fresh. I'm a repetitive customer and will continue to be!

Jay J.

Yelp
Very fun place, I recommend this place for lunch or dinner. Food is great! Very fun place, I recommend this place for lunch or dinner. Food is great! Xx
