"Faded photos of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and outdated Visit Thailand posters cover the walls of this sort of divey, family-run Thai spot. No, they don’t put the pineapple rice inside of an actual hollowed-out pineapple, but they did make sure there was an ample amount of cashews, which makes this signature dish that much more special. There’s also the staples — pad thai, tom kha gai, papaya salad, and every color of curry in the Thai food spectrum." - Andre James

The food is good, authentic Thai cuisine with friendly and warm people. I visited the first time since it was closeby to my hotel. The portion is small but enough for the price under $15 meal. fast service as i got everything within 10-15 mins. Pad see eu legit, mango sticky rice is good, thai tea is flavorful. Cons: the packaging, they do not use microwave packaging so please note that when you order which give inconvenience for tourists especially when they dont have plates at hotel

Service was exceptional; dining room was spotless. The highlights were the shrimp red curry and and the mango curry. However, the fried rice main dishes had little protein or vegetables and the rice was a bit mushy. We may have picked the wrong appetizers--the spare ribs were deep fried, tough and dry and the crab ragoon were limp and the filling had no imitation crab, no flavor. Next time I would stick to the main dishes, like the curries or the stir fry. They will adjust the hot spiciness; the very tasty red curry was requested down one level and had the perfect flash of heat. Service was quick and friendly.

We are visiting from out of town and were craving some Thai food. This restaurant completely exceeded our expectations. This is one of the best Thai restaurants we have been to. The service was amazing, so attentive. Serving beer with a frosted mug is a nice touch. The curry and noodles were perfectly executed from flavor, to components, to composition. Ingredients were thoughtfully chosen. Wish we lived nearby so we could eat here everyday.

Google
I have been dining here since '93 ... and they still serve up delicious Thai cuisine. AND you know it's good when the local Thai community dine here as well ❤️ Bonus Surprise : I hadn't been in a while and when I came in the whole dining area was completely remodeled in a black and gold theme. Very nice! Also >>>> under new management >>>> with focus on more authentic Thai, as close as possible being in the U.S. We ordered our usual Chicken Satay appetizer, and also their Gyoza and Cucumber Salad. So delicious, and everything is displayed very attractively. Our entrees were Pad Thai and Sweet & Sour Chicken. Highly recommend ❤️

Google
They lady taking orders was very polite and helpful. Ordered the pad Thai chicken and spring rolls. Everything was good but I didn't rate 5 starts because the spice over took the flavor of the meal and couldn't taste any tamarind which I love. I'll try it again and ask for it to be less spicy and update my review of there's a change.

Google
I didn't eat there, but my Dad did. He said, "It was Bangin!" Ba-Doom-cssh!🥁 sorry, my bad, that was🐒 but anyway, he said the food was Awesome!

Google
It's really great taste Thailand food here. We tried a few different dishes, and all meet our expectations. The only thing is missing in a taste was kafir lime leaves which is a key ingredient in majority of dishes in Thai food.

EDIT for 2024: Seems new people have taken over. The atmosphere is definitely more dull and the menu has changed and removed some of the items I personally liked. The food was still good, although the chicken rolls seem like something you'd buy at Walmart. Waitress was nice, but not sure if we'd return again. 2022 review below if interested. 2022: We have eaten here twice within a few months and have enjoyed the food both times. The staff is incredibly sweet and accommodating and loves interacting with customers. We were here last during Hurricane Ian and the power went out while we were eating. Instead of it being a negative experience, we had an amazing time talking to the owners while it rained and stormed around us as we finished our meal. Will definitely be back and cannot recommend their food (and service) enough. See you at the next motorcycle rally, Bangkok House! 🏍

Yelp
Late lunch and my wife was in a Thai mood. I asked and Yelp provided. When we arrived, there were no other diners and we were undisturbed other than a Doordash order or two. For starters, we split the fish cakes. These had a good flavor and were served super hot but they were chewy and flat. I would skip these next time. Crab fried rice for my wife, which she mostly enjoyed. Lots of crab but no big pieces. All were crumbed up to the size of the rice which pretty much made it "crab-flavored fried rice." For main, I chose the Drunken Noodles with pork. A good portion and very flavorful. Not spicy but full of spice and texture. The noodles were nicely al dente and plenty of pork that was cooked very nicely. The waitress was friendly and not too attentive. We enjoyed being undisturbed for our meal but she was watching to refill drinks and bring boxes and such. [Review 2007 of 2024 - 1144 in South Carolina - 23029 overall]

Yelp
Our go to Thai when in Myrtle Beach. The veggies, chicken and noodles are so fresh with the perfect amount of spice. I highly suggest the Drunken Noodles. I switched my boyfriend over from the Pad See Ew as he loves the variety of red, yellow and green peppers along with broccoli and tomatoes. The service is always great and not rushed, so you can take your time and enjoy. A lovely ambiance as well. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This place was a great find. So many gluten free options. Every item was delicious. It was freshly prepared and came out steaming hot. We tried both soups , Tom Kha and Tom Yumm, so good. The spicy calamari was finger licking good . All the entrees ( drunken noodles, mixed veggie with chicken, papaya salad , cucumber salad, crispy papaya salad ) were all awesome. It's located in a small building , not much to look at, but don't be fooled by appearances! The food and the service and impeccable.

Yelp
We have eaten here several times over the years, but not in the past couple since we found other Thai places that we prefer. We decided give it a try again. Immediately upon entering we noticed that things had changed drastically, the decor was completely different, and new people too. It was obvious that it was under different ownership/management. The menus were new and we noticed that there were no lunch menu offerings. We ordered the Pad Thai and the Pad Kee Mao. We were surprised when our entrees were served immediately with no broth/soup, or any small appetizers such as a spring roll. Almost every Thai place that we visit there is usually a cop of flavored broth and usually a spring roll served before the entree, and many also include a small salad. NOT HERE, ALL YOU GET IS YOUR ENTREE. The food was just OK, nothing special and somewhat bland and dry. Our lunches came to almost $40 with tax and tip and only water to drink. We will not be returning, many other places with better food and better value.

Yelp
This was for a take out order, picked up quickly so food still warm as we ate. Not impressed for food quality,or cost. Had garlic stir fry with pork. For the appox 18$ price. Not worth it. Not garlicky at all, portions were small, lacked vegetables as described in dish,,bland tasting. Also chicken pad thai. Same issues bland. Lots of noodles though, mushy. Chicken had no seasoning either. 17$ ? Nope Shame went here bc of reviews on yelp. Maybe if we were in person, eating. Might have been better

Yelp
Our friendly cab driver recommended this place to us on the way in from the airport - so glad he did!! He said that a grandma does the cooking and you can't go wrong with that! We were welcomed warmly and made to feel at home. The jasmine tea was delicious, and served in a pretty rose cup. Our meals came out so quickly! Everything we got was so tasty. I didn't feel super hungry when I went in, but I made my shrimp pad Thai disappear like lightning! Husband got some kind of zippy chicken/cashew/mushroom situation with rice. YUM. Prices are reasonable - they don't try to gouge the tourists. (NO tummy troubles after... which is a big win for me!) Bottom line - if you're here and hungry for Thai food - this place hits the spot!

Yelp
It's a family tradition for us to go to MBSC and hit up Bangkok House! Really spectacular food and service. Get there early, cause they run out of that nice sticky rice. The thai spiced papaya salad is where it's at! The tofu and spring rolls are excellent and perfect! I hope they get their liquor license soon, as I could've really used a cold brew with my fam dinner, but everything else was spectacular! Excellent service!

A J.

Yelp
We had beef green curry takeout and the food was amazing. It came out super fast and service was friendly and speedy. They also have lunch specials M-F dine in only so make sure to check the menu out. Good all-black interior that makes other colors pop. Had a good time with good food at BKH

Misty M.

Yelp
This is a true hidden gem!!! The service and politeness of the service far exceeds anything else in town. The food quality was excellent and the atmosphere is perfect.

Sue C.

Yelp
We eat at a lot of Thai restaurants back home in Durham, NC, and the food at Bangkok House tops them all. We had the blanket shrimp, the crispy tofu and my husband had a small bowl of Tom Yum soup. All were perfectly cooked and extremely tasty. The Tom Yum was the best he has ever had--and he has eaten a great many versions. The heat level was just right and the blend of flavors was incredible. Our meal was a bit pricey overall but worth it for the quality of the ingredients--We can always go during the week and take advantage of the lunch special. The recent renovation has added charcoal gray walls with bright gold accents. Very attractive.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and eat here!!! This is hands down the best Thai Food we've ever eaten. We were from out of town and were craving Thai food and this far surpassed our expectations. We got the pad Thai, wonton soup, papaya salad and mango sticky rice. I only got a picture of the half eaten pad Thai cause we couldn't stop eating. The service was also amazing, we didn't know they closed at 9:00 and felt so bad when we ordered 15 minutes before close but they were so so kind about it. It is super authentic inside and that matches the taste of their food. Highly recommend! Only wish we didn't find this on our last day here cause now I'll be craving it

Justin S.

Yelp
Bangkok House has a new number 843-282-9555. Lovely staff. Everything's authentic and tasty.

Teri B.

Yelp
Great dinner at Bangkok House. It was an easy walk from our condo, and we appreciated the fact that we could see that locals frequented the place. We got the shrimp pad thai, green curry and pineapple fried rice, which were all good, especially the green curry, which had great flavor and just the right amount of heat. Would definitely come here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Myrtle Beach.

Yong Chan K.

Yelp
Everything is more than great!! Our top 3s are DRUNKEN NOODLES, TOM YUM KUM, and KAO MU CRATIAM. papaya salad was extraordinary as well. Great service and great food. All for you.

Phil P.

Yelp
Service is slow. Seems like they cannot keep up with the holiday weekend traffic coming in. Food is generally good. Tom Kha is thin not creamy but tastes ok. The show stoppers are the Thai Street food portion of the menu especially the sausage dish with peppers, onions & lettuce. The chicken spring rolls are good with red hot sauce and sweet sauce combined.

Yelp
Bangkok House on Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach is a great place to go for delicious Thai food that is delicious, fresh, and flavorful. Everything here is very well prepared and worth the visit. The staff here is very welcoming and does their best to make sure that you are well taken care of.

Brittanie H.

Yelp
Whenever I'm vacationing in Myrtle Beach, I always make it a point to come here. This place has great hours, is family-owned, and makes delicious food. We came here twice on our last vacation and once on this one. When you walk in, you notice immediately that the space is small and cozy with dated decor. You are always warmly welcomed by the owner who works the register. Her children run the back of the house and do the waiting of tables. Every time I've come, I've gotten take out, so I cannot account for the dine-in experience. I normally place my order in-person or via phone, and after a 15-20 minute wait, I go pick it up. I've had the pad thai, papaya salad, drunken noodles, and spring rolls all of which are very good. The papaya salad is probably my favorite. I order it Thai-style, which is nice and spicy and super fresh. Another review mentioned the pad thai as different, and I'd have to agree. It is not as saucy as other pad thai, so you really have to mix it up to get the sauce onto the noodles. The sauce is also thinner. Still, the portion is large, and it is filling. The drunken noodles are better and have way more flavor, which is what I'd recommend. I have not yet tried any of their curries but will definitely go for one of those the next time. Their service is always great and with a smile. When I needed a remake on a dish that was too spicy for my Mom and sister, they gladly obliged. I personally like the spice level but will note that it's not for the faint of heart. They are open during the holidays, making it really convenient if you're traveling into the area during that time--a great spot for solid Thai food.

Yelp
I love Thai food. I've been to Thailand and taken cooking classes there. I saw 4.5 stars on the Google reviews so we picked this "hole in the wall." The food was good. The place is dark almost dinghy, with black wallpaper. Towards the end of the meal, a brown roach crawled up the wall beside our table. We alerted the waitress. She grabbed paper towels and came to kill/capture it. She gave us the bill after we jumped up and refused to sit. We requested the Manager. She said she had already told him. We asked her to have him come out. He said they have exterminators come in monthly. There's nothing more they can do. He proceeded to ring us up. I said so that is it? That's all you can do? He offered a 25% discount. I asked again. He took off a little more. I think if he had acted surprised and apologetic I may have not been as annoyed and grossed out. I won't return there again. If you decide to go, pray first and drink booze after! Alcohol kills germs and roaches.

Tawanna M.

Yelp
I'm a huge lover of Thai food and I'm so glad I googled and found this place. The food is AMAZING!!! Flavorful and large portions. The woman and I'm assuming her mom were very nice, made it easy to order and made a little conversation while I waited on my food to be prepared. I ordered 2 orders of veggie spring rolls. Should have been 8, but I ate a couple before I snapped the photo. I will definitely visit them again

Carla S.

Yelp
The spring rolls and catfish curry were DELICIOUS!!! Very flavorful and authentic. The Pad See Ew tasted more like Drunken Noodles but was still good. The portion sizes are large. Two people can easily share a meal. The restaurant is older and is on the corner of an older strip mall with some parking on the side. The staff were friendly enough; some of the prices are slightly higher than in non tourist areas but that is to be expected at the beach. I gave the restaurant 3 stars because we were given used napkins from another table, as there was a receipt inside one of the napkins and drawings on the backside of another napkins. If you go, check your napkins before using.

Judy H.

Yelp
Excellent pad thai and panang curry. Will definitely return. Wait staff very friendly and pleasant.

Gloria K.

Yelp
The building is definitely a little dated but many are in Myrtle Beach so if you can get past that the rest of the story is all uphill from there! Very friendly people work there! The food is authentic and fresh. My daughter and I were both impressed and making those ymmm noises after each bite! We shared the chicken coconut soup and it was fabulous! She got the duck and if was crisp on the outside but tender and moist on the inside without being greasy. Best duck I've ever tasted! I got one of my favorites, the pineapple curry with chicken and white rice. It was delicious! I had some hot green tea in a pretty china cup and the service was prompt. Great lunch! We will be back!

Tony B.

Yelp
I love Thai cuisine, but this was the worst Thai food I've ever had. Not even remotely authentic. Food came out after a long wait and I could only eat 3-4 bites. I pushed my mostly uneaten meal to the center of the table. My girlfriend also did not finish her meal. Server comes to clear our table, sees two meals with the fool barely touched, doesn't ask what the problem was. Incredible. Myrtle Beach has many fine dining establishments, but this was at the bottom of the list. Wouldn't think of eating here again.

Darlyn G.

Yelp
The food speaks for itself the flavors are beyond delicious, my taste buds fell instantly in love. Everything is fresh and full of flavor, you will not be disappointed. Customer service is great as well, the owner of the place is in sight and very friendly. The interior of the restaurant is so nice and homey! I will definitely be back, if you need a spot for lunch or dinner with the fam this is the place !!

Nikki E.

Yelp
I have eaten at every Thai place now in the Myrtle Beach area. This was my least favorite so far unfortunately. Service was amazing and the food came out fast, but food was just lacking. The spring rolls were fine. The Tum Yum was missing that sourness and had a bleach taste. the Yum beef salad had so much fish sauce the smell wasn't bearable and no lime taste. The drunken noodle was a super sweet sauce, and nothing was thai spicy as requested. Unfortunately, I will not be back.

Roy T.

Yelp
Map location is wrong on Yelp. Actual location at corner of 4th Ave North and Kings Highway NORTH.

Mary S.

Yelp
Delicious thai food! We walked in right as they were closing but they still allowed us to order togo. Pad thai was so good, the beef and broccoli was really really tasty, the spring rolls were super good too. Highly recommend this little hole in the wall.

Hannah I.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Went with our family of 4 and we all loved our dishes. The hot and sour soup is really creamy and delicious. Definitely recommend this place for some bomb Thai food.

Arcadio M.

Yelp
Food was really good and our waitress was super friendly. Not only did she make great recommendations but she also talked to us about everything from places in the area to the World Cup. It was nice hearing about her coming from Thailand... I usually go to the same Thai place always back home, but this was a good place to stop while visiting the area. It would have been easy to miss this place amongst everything else near the beach, but you don't want to miss this one. If you're looking for a good meal with good service then this place won't disappoint.

Stephanie O.

Yelp
If I could give 10 stars I would. This is hands down the best Thai food in all of HORRY County. Probably I've ever had if I really sat down and thought about it. The Bangkok House Duck Special is so crispy and delicious and the sauce is just perfect. The Pad Thai is so good. Huge portions. The Chicken Satay is a great app. The Tom Kai coconut milk soup is my favorite. My husband enjoys the Tom Yum and it's super spicy. The curry here doesn't disappoint. The pineapple curry is my favorite. And don't forget the magi sticky rice for dessert. Lord help me I could eat here everyday.

Sarrah D.

Yelp
Delicious food in a small, unassuming location. You can tell this is a well-loved family-owned business. I have had several things here, the chicken satay, pad see ew and pad thai. They are all delicious.

Usman H.

Yelp
We sat inside. Food was served hot and the entrees were good. Spring rolls were okay and the service isn't the best. Entree was good so 4 stars

Louisa W.

Yelp
Good food. Would recommend if you are looking for good food with decent prices. Restaurant is a little cluttered.

JL M.

Yelp
Food was not the best just okay. Overly sauced, too sweet- nice portions. Try another spot.

Doug P.

Yelp
Ordered via Grub Hub and our meal arrived piping hot and very enjoyable. We prepared an Asian style salad and had Bangkok House's Pad Thai and Red Chicken Curry and both were well prepared albeit a little light on meat. We did order an extra rice which we did not need since the curry came with rice (mea culpa for not reading the menu). Would 100% order again from this restaurant and recommend it!

Michael B.

Yelp
Don't expect fast service or endless refills, but do expect an old-school family-run restaurant with great food. The Pad Thai was great. The Pineapple Rice was good, if not a bit dry. No beer. Soft drinks come in a can, served with a glass of ice. I'd say this place could use some updating, but nah. That's part of its charm.

Johanna B.

Yelp
Pulled up at 8:30 on a Saturday night and they locked the doors in our face when the hours say until 10pm.

Cathy S.

Yelp
Our favorite quiet restaurant with delicious Thai dishes. Great service. Never disappointed.

Rachel J.

Yelp
The real deal!!!!!! I had the pumpkin curry and it was amazing!! My daughter, a vegan, made me come here and I was skeptical at first. The ambiance is fair. But don't judge a book by its cover. This is legit the BEST Thai I've ever had!

K. A.

Yelp
The best Thai fried rice I've had in years. I'm so happy I finally found it. All of the other food is great too, very authentic.

Keisha P.

Yelp
Delicious I highly recommend this Thai restaurant . Everything was amazing. Staff was great and friendly.

Reupbert T.

Yelp
We visited for dinner on a Friday. It was quiet, one waiter as others have said. Service was relaxed, slow but not annoyingly so. Certainly not speedy. I had Pad See Ew which was heavy on noodles that were clearly bought in bulk, and the veggies, egg and chicken were sparse. Hardly 'authentic', this is about as americanized Thai as I've had anywhere. They certainly used fish sauce to give the dish some flavor, but overall it was lacking in any complex flavors. This place is great for take-out or a low key meal. Don't expect authentic, and don't expect dishes that 'wow'.

Sofia D.

Yelp
This restaurant is great! It isn't crowded and had nice service. The food was delicious and served well. Definitely a place i'd go to again.

Davdaleader M.

Yelp
We lived in Myrtle Beach in 2009 for a few years. We always ate at Bangkok House when we lived there. We ate there, Friday, Oct. 4 and always make it a point to go there for dinner / lunch. Fabulous Tom Kai soup and sticky rice. Love it! Some of the best Thai food in country.

Alexis L.

Yelp
My friend was visiting and we both miss good Thai food, this place was so authentic and delicious. I can't wait to go back!

Bailey A.

Yelp
We've tried every Thai place in Myrtle, and this is the best by far. We order takeout at least once a week. I don't like to eat in the restaurant because it's not the nicest, but the food is definitely top notch.

Sarabeth C.

Yelp
Stopped here because I really wanted Thai food. The service was great. Very nice people. It wasn't the best Thai that I have had, but for south Myrtle Beach, it was okay. I am spoiled with my ethnic food because I live in a town that has great food. I have very high standards. It definitely wasn't spicy enough for me. The waitress did not ask about spice level which says a lot about the clientele.

Chau M.

Yelp
Very friendly service. Large menu selection and great food for a good value. Definitely recommend the chicken wings appetizer and pineapple fried rice.

Sherry C.

Yelp
So, so good. This place is out of the tourist area, but close to the beach. Food is "homemade", honestly felt like we were part of the family and that our Thai "grandmother" was making us a delicious dinner. We ordered several things and each was perfectly prepared. Great service, quaint atmosphere, fair pricing and delectable flavors.
