I visited this cute little Vietnamese French Patisserie shop on my last day in Colorado, tucked away a little outside the city in Aurora, CO. I was blown away with their tasty Pandan Coconut Cupcake that was just PERFECTION. At first I was afraid that it would be too sweet, but to my surprise it was lightly sweetened, fluffy with the right amount of bounce, and very moist. The pandan flavor was just heaven, not overbearing and I was very happy that the coconut was not overpowering the pandan (as I'm not a big fan of heavy coconut flavors). This was my favorite of all the items I've tried and the BEST pandan flavored dessert I've ever had. So, if you're in the mood for a little treat and some strong coffee, check this place out!
I bought the strawberry cruffin, which I'm guessing was a cross between a croissant and muffin, filled with what seems to be a custard cream bc it wasn't too thick like a custard but not as airy as a cream. The way the bread layered was croissant like but it was shaped like a muffin, was just mmhmmm. Again, sweetness level was perfect and the cream to pastry ratio was just so perfect. Note, this cruffin went through a beating of passing airport security and made its way to California before it was devoured, but somehow kept its shape and flavor. This was my second favorite only bc I really love the Pandan cupcake. Definitely, would recommend this.
Lastly, I got the Iced Vietnamese Egg Coffee which again was not very sweet. Actually, I would recommend adding a bit more condensed milk or a tad bit more sweetness to the foam. Definitely that strong Vietnamese caffeine if you're looking for jitters. It was slightly salty, which took me by surprise bc I was kinda of expecting a traditional Vietnamese eggnog (Soda Sua Hot Ga), but it wasn't bad. Once the ice melted a little, it balanced out the density pretty well. However, would have liked a little more sweetness to it. Still, I would recommend this for those who love a more salty, bitter coffee with a slight sweet and creamy flavoring.
I'm so heartbroken that I did not grab more Pandan Coconut Cupcake to go to share with my family back home. I really hope they consider opening a shop in Little Saigon, California but until then I guess I will need to visit Colorado again soon!
