"With locations in Shoreditch, the City, and Soho, Kêu is one of London’s most recognisable Vietnamese mini-chains. This location is a functional spot with window seats for solo diners and tables at the back for friends after a quick bite. Their Hoi-An Deluxe bánh mì combines ham, roast pork belly, sliced head cheese, chicken liver pâté, and a gravy-ish sauce that’s heavy on pork and sweet onion flavour. Bread-less stuff is great too: the rice and roasted meats or lemongrass curries make for an always-delicious midweek meal." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna
"Kêu is a mini-chain of Vietnamese delis with locations in Soho, Shoreditch, Borough, and the City. If you’re thinking that this makes it a functional working lunch spot for bánh mì, meat with rice, and noodle dishes… then you’d be correct. But Kêu isn’t just reliable. Its four-meats deluxe bánh mì and roasted meats with rice are consistently delicious. A cup of wonton soup is something everyone should also get into the habit of ordering." - jake missing
"The original Kêu in Shoreditch is one of our favourites for banh mi in London, and their City shop on London Wall is just as good as the original. We usually go for the classic sandwich with mortadella and terrine, but you can’t really go wrong with whatever you choose. Their rice bowls are good, too, if a bit pricey." - oliver feldman, jake missing, david paw
"Many a pint-heavy, post-work, pub session has seen us take cover in the Keu on Old Street. In fact, many a detour through Shoreditch has seen us turn up in Keu. The Vietnamese deli offers bahn mi, rice dishes, and noodle soups. Choosing between chari siu pork and roasted duck can be hard, so maybe bring a friend along. For company, of course." - jake missing
"The lunchtime sandwich is ingrained into British psyche. Three quid, a BLT wolfed here, a packet of crisps there, a spot of indigestion later. Lovely. Not all sandwiches need to be like this though and Keu’s bánh mì are a prime example of this. Their classic Vietnamese baguette should be a weekly staple but don’t just leave them at that. The full plates here are a very decent choice and sitting down to roast duck or char siu pork on rice is a tasty and filling lunch for under a tenner." - team infatuation
