"There are three locations of Banh Mi Saigon 168 across LA and Orange County. Step inside the location in Rosemead and the first thing you’ll smell is fresh-baked bread. Here you can go with a crusty baguette or a round bun for your bánh mì, and since both options have a crispy outer shell that crackles into a soft and fluffy center with each bite, you can’t really go wrong. The menu here has the usual options like fried egg, pork roll, and sardine bánh mì, but our favorite is the Saigon special. It’s stacked high with plump cold cuts, pickled veggies, and enough garlicky mayo and paté to ensure that each bite is moist and creamy. " - nikko duren, arden shore, sylvio martins, brant cox

This review is for food only, not service or anything else. Grilled pork Banh mi is average. Flavor is off from what I'm use to. The meat is chopped into pieces Size is bigger than normal length is greater than my image on its side. (See image). Price is $7. Repeat purchase? No. The flavor and texture of the grilled pork turns me off. The positive is you do get a larger banh mi than normal.

I remember getting some pretty good bánh mì to take on a flight several years ago, but didn’t know from which establishment. I came here today and it felt very familiar. I’m pretty certain this was the place. We took advantage of the buy 2 get 1 free deal for the round bread bánh mì. We had the Saigon special, grilled pork and grilled beef. We actually asked for the meatball bánh mì, but they got our order wrong and gave us the grilled beef instead, which we didn’t realise until we got home. However, the sandwiches were still tasty; the meat was well seasoned and the bread had enough bite without being tough. A decent place if you fancy some bánh mì. Takeout only.

Google
I had the grilled pork round bread (smaller) the grilled pork actually taste pretty good. I taste lemongrass! Unlike other banh mi shop Thier meat is like brown meat 😩 I couldn't even finish my round bread don't see how I could take on a "baguette" ( longer)! 🙈 nice and super Clean!

Really tasty! The go to spot for some amazing food!

Google
First time trying this sandwich shop and we were very pleased. We had the Saigon special, it's very fresh, delicious 😋 the rolls are similar to Mexican bolillos. I highly recommend this shop 👌

Google
Best Banh Mi I've ever had, hands down. Baguette was SO soft and the chicken was juicy in a yummy marinade. All the veggies in it were fresh and soooo good. Great portion size for $7 awesome, really

Yelp
I randomly came here as I was waiting for the acupuncture place to open up next door. I was on a time crunch so with 3-4 people ahead of me, I decided to leave but before so, was pretty hungry and did want a banh mi. Place looks pretty neat. Staff was nice as I was ready to place my order. Decided to get their Special with an egg. Wait wasn't too long? There were about 2 ahead of me waiting for their orders as well. Finally got my banh mi and thought wow, nice size banh mi. Plenty of meat, egg and I did ask for carrots, cilantro and pepper inside. As I bit into it, I wasn't too impressed. I've had better banh mi elsewhere. Though the portion was good and price wasn't too bad, the bread was crispy but wasn't feeling the meat. Their pepper is a bit hotter than other places but doable.

Yelp
Wonderful sandwich. I ordered the #25 ( Headcheese) long sandwich. It was just like old time. I don't know why other Vietnamese sandwich shop did away with headcheese sandwich. Oh, the egg rolls were very good too, and 25 cents cheaper, and it was hot! I'm going to have to try others items and get back to you about the rest... ARROY !!

Sandy S.

Yelp
This review is for the pork spring roll and pandan cake. The pandan cake is so dry. Spring rolls is $6.50 Pandan cake is $7.75 I didn't try the egg roll and the sandwich which seems more popular here.

Yelp
Takeout only. There is one line for ordering. We ordered five sandwiches, two number 2, a 21, 22, and 23. 21-23 was buy two get one free. They were about 5.50$ each, total 22$. Got to choose a free ice cream after. There are plenty of other things to buy that we're on the table displayed for us to pick and choose. Ranging from set meals to pho to bread. Inside had lots of registers that confused us at first but we got the idea that there was just one line. My dad wants to come on a Monday to try their fried donuts (not the sweet one but the long savory Asian ones). Unfortunately there wasn't anywhere to sit to eat or restrooms, so I was going to minus a star, but they had signs indicating it was mainly for takeout. But I would definitely recommend this place, they gave us a lot of pickled radishes and was very quick. Sandwiches were good, inflation really shows though. You can see the prices used to be 2.75$ and my parents said they used to put more pate as now it is hard to tell there are some. However, they are still a better deal in terms of pricing than lees sandwich.

Yelp
10 outa 10, the banh mi I ordered was so good! Forgot to take a picture because I ate it so fast. I ordered #14, combo, like I always do and this location has such flavorful meats. I am never sure what's the specific meat is called but it had black peppercorns infused within it. Everything about it was so tasty! I even went back the next day to grab another one, only thing was they forgot one of the meats (I know this because it tasted different). But that's okay, it was still yum! Also got an viet coffee as well! If I am ever in the area, will be stopping by here again. The service was fast and nice. No indoor seating btw. I always wish there were more veggies but I will ask for extra next time! Lovely spot!

Renée L.

Yelp
Portion is huge!! Just don't get any of their "grill meat" sandwich, the meat is just not tasty, I threw mine away after one bite! I love they now separate all the radish , veggie, jalapeño all in a separate bag. Saigon special #1 is the best.

Natalie M.

Yelp
Still as delicious as it was before. i'll gladly go back again and again. this time i ordered the round bread banh mi and it did not disappoint.

Cindy S.

Yelp
I got a few sandwiches to try out. I'd come back to Banh Mi Saigon 168 for fresh baked bread and the PORK BELLY sandwich (new item on their menu); very good. What's not so good and killed it for me is their gamey tasting pate (Terrible) on the "Saigon Special", which is supposed to be their best seller! Am not sure if the pate is house-made or from a can but it was so rancid tasting to me that it ruin the banh mi sandwiches I got. Usually my go to Vietnamese sandwich is anything with pate in it, so I was pretty disappointed. This spot is not my top choice for banh mi sandwiches in the area ;however, service was very friendly and the iced coffee was strong.

Sharyse W.

Yelp
Got a recommendation for this place from a friend and WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. This place has a take out focus so there isn't any seating inside as of 1/8/2022. Parking here is crazy especially on the weekend because the plaza is quite popular. The lot is large but plenty of people are circling around so it's just luck. We ordered three #2 grilled pork on round bread and so we got the BUY 2 GET 1 FREE deal!! For 3 sandwiches and 1 iced coffee it was a total of $17.44 which is unbeatable. The bread is SO FRESH and light. They package the veggies separately so when you take out the bread doesn't get soggy. It comes with just the right amount of carrot/daikon pickles, jalapeños, cilantro, cucumbers. The meat is DELICIOUS and it really comes together for the perfect bahn mi. 100% will be coming back to this place

Angie T.

Yelp
Banh khoai mi which is made by them tastes nasty and dry, they know that it isn't good so rather than cut it into slides and sell but they didn't they sell the whole cake for 7.50 I can't even have a second bite into it

Tam N.

Yelp
Ohhh, one of my favorite banh mi places. I love this place! All of their banh mi are so delicious! The staff- very quiet but easy to order from. Don't expect a whole convo. Everything here is just fast and go.The prices are very fair. They have a buy two get one free deal too. So definitely get that! The number four is my Togo. With an egg on top. Easy parking. Big portions. Very flavorful and fresh!

James V.

Yelp
Love the buy 2 get 1 free special. Their round bread is not as fluffy as I thought but still good nonetheless. I got the dac biet (special) and the thit nuong (grilled pork). Both were great. A lot of parking but its in a plaza so you share the parking with all the stores.

Benson L.

Yelp
Great sandwich. Great selection can choose baguette or bread. Both great like the bread better. Great special have veggies and top quality. Great place nice vibe great food

Xuyen N.

Yelp
If the store wants to grow better, i think the employees need to have a better attitude pls . I don't understand her way of talking to customers. This is the second time I've come here, she looked at me with a frown on her face. She took the "cream sundae" for me with an attitude that looked like she was humiliating. .

Taylor K.

Yelp
Picked up two pork banh mi today and was not disappointed! You really can't beat the price at this place, it came up to $15 for two banh mi and I feel like the portions were absolutely huge. The first time I called, they didn't answer, and I was surprised to actually get a call back which I then placed my order of via phone By the time we got there, the bunny was ready and we just paid and left. There isn't any seating so I don't have much to say about the place itself but if you're looking for a quick cheap and delicious bite in the San Gabriel Valley, Monterey Park area I would definitely stop by here.

Thien-Kim B.

Yelp
Pretty good banh mi for a good price. Soy sauce, mayo, and pate isn't evenly spread out so you might hit bits that are saltier or moister than the rest of the sandwich. Prices are very good, so if I come back it would be for that.

Yen P.

Yelp
My favorite banh mi place i dont come here often lol but i love their banh mi and thai tea thank for the service. See you next time.

Lucia L.

Yelp
I bought their pandan honeycomb cake and it tasted like disinfectant/the smell of the space. It seems like it was probably out on display for a long time or I don't know...but I was very unhappy with it. I had to throw it out!

Emily C.

Yelp
I thought this was related to Saigon Sandwiches but I thought wrong. But they do have a "Buy 2, Get 1" special for the round sandwiches ($6.25 ea). So that's what we got. All sandwiches were packed with veggies. The pickled veg at Saigon is the best I've had but these are pretty good also. #1 Saigon Special was the best I've had so far. There was a good balance of meat to bread and veggie to sauce ratio for a delicious bite. #2 Grilled Pork was pretty good but Saigon was better. #3 Julienne Pork was flavored well, but was overall ok. Egg rolls were crispy, fresh and packed with flavor. Cafe Sua Da (Iced Coffee) was very potent and sweet. Highly recommend the coffee if you want to get your heart racing! Overall, I enjoyed what I got and would come again!

Grace C.

Yelp
My new go to place for banh mi! They're open until pretty late for a banh mi place, which I appreciated when I needed to grab some sandwiches at 8:30 pm for a late dinner. They offer a buy 2 get 1 free deal for the round bread banh mi. One is $6.25 so when you order two and get one free, it comes out to be about $4 each. The sandwiches I've gotten so far (grilled pork and grilled beef) are the most stuffed I've seen in a round banh mi! I couldn't leave without trying their egg rolls and pate chaud. They're $1.30 each or 3 pieces for $3.75. Solid egg rolls and pate chaud. Parking in this supermarket plaza can be a little crazy. Park towards the side to avoid the traffic.

Julie T.

Yelp
I like this place and it was the only spot I would ever order the classic number 1 because their meat is super thinly cut. I recently got the number 1 sandwich and this time around their number 1 cuts of meat was cut really thick and slimey and it just not what I prefer, I hope it was just a one time thing and that didn't change they way the slice the meats

Patricia L.

Yelp
2.5 Stars We went here by chance. The place itself is small and have no tables and chairs so we had to take our order home. It was interesting that there are four different bread options that you can choose from - baguette, baguette mini, round bread and croissant. We had the following: * #15 Thit Nuong / Grilled Pork Baguette - The grilled pork LACKED flavor. It was very disappointing. * #9 Xiu Mai / Meatball in round bread - Mine has a tiny bit of sauce and a generous serving of meatballs. It was better than the grilled pork baguette. * Cafe Sua Da - It was good. Your usual iced coffee. I hope this place improves their sandwiches to get more customers.

Yelp
I LOVE California for their Vietnamese communities. The Banh Mi Saigon Special was EVERYTHING!!! So good that I started out with just half of the sandwich, then could not stop there - I needed to taste more of that pâté goodness, so I devoured the other half...and continued to want more. This Banh Mi was stacked! They layered this thing so well with different Vietnamese hams + veggies. Although I didn't eat right when it was purchased, I could tell this would have been even better just toasted. (That says a lot about their bread...mmm) So you know, we couldn't just buy 8 of these, we had to buy almost all the other specialty and traditional dishes. Go on and explore all the amazing dishes they have here. Appreciate the details of each dish and savor the flavors. Authentic is the keyword!

Jennifer H.

Yelp
They are one of the only few banh mi places that have buy 2 get 1 free. This is for the round bread only. It was 6.25 each but is around $4 when you get the 3rd free. I've been coming here for years whenever I visit my family on LA. I like to pick up banh mi here before I head back to SF so I don't have to make dinner haha. This is a grab and go spot only. There's maybe one table and a set of chair but I've never seen anyone eat there. They have tons of Vietnamese baked goods & a wall of drinks to go with your banh mi. Btw they take credit card! Can't say that about many small mom & pop places in SGV

Luke L.

Yelp
Banh Mi Saigon 168 is located in the same plaza as GW (Great Wall) Supermarket and this is one of three branches in Southern California. Please note that the store sign says "Banh Mi Saigon" and 168 is just a street number. Restroom is not available to customers and there's no indoor dining tables. [Menu]: You can order either round bread ($5.68 each) or baguette ($5.68 each). The buy 2 get 1 free offer is ONLY available for round bread banh mi. You can actually order turkey or fried fish cake banh mi here. There are three different coffee options here: iced coffee, iced black coffee, and coffee milk tea. $1 extra for boba or whipped cream. *** #14 Saigon Special (Thịt Nguội) [baguette $5.68]: There's no question that baguette version is much better than round version - bigger portion and better bread texture. One baguette was enough to fill me up for a simple lunch. #2 Grilled Pork (Thịt Nướng), #4 Grilled Beef (Nem Bò Nướng), #6 Grilled Chicken (Gà) [round bread $5.68 each - buy 2 get 1 free]: Jalapeños pieces were very fresh and super spicy. These protein options weren't too bad, but Banh Mi Che Cali offers better value for similar quality banh mi and Banh Mi My Tho and Mr Baguette have much better banh mi. Iced coffee (Cà Phê Sữa Đá) [french roast, vanilla, sweetened condensed milk - $3.50]: Tasted slightly more acidic and concentrated than other Vietnamese coffee drinks I had like the one from 7 Leaves Cafe and Fresh Roast. Good options for those folks looking for more caffeinated drink. *** Banh Mi Saigon 168 is one of those banh mi places that's sitting in the middle of the pack - not the best value and not the best banh mi in the SGV (San Gabriel Valley) area, but not horrible either.

Connie L.

Yelp
My go-to banh mi place for the past few years! Super affordable, even though prices have been slowly rising (understandable), and consistent. Free parking in the busy plaza might be hard to get during busy times. My usual order is the Buy 2 get 1 round bread banh mi. Highly recommend the #1 Saigon Special, #3 grilled pork, #4 grilled beef. The vegetarian banh mi is good too. They definitely don't skimp on the meat, pate, and picked veggies (carrots, radish, cucumber, cilantro, and jalapeno) like some other places do. The banh bao is quite good as well. Overall, a favorite of mine to pick up whenever I'm in the area. Check it out!

Matt P.

Yelp
Their sandwiches are about $6.25 each for the foot long version. But if you get the shorter bread, buy 2 get 1 free. I thought the sandwich was just ok. Nothing to write home about. I like Hue Thai Bakery & Deli more and they also bake their own bread. It's a little out of the way and in a pretty empty shopping center. But I like their sandwiches more.

Hoa L.

Yelp
The bread is acceptable & crunchy. They had a deal buy 2 get 1 free. Will back again

Claudia S.

Yelp
What we always get is the buy 2 get 1 free. Although the prices have almost doubled in the last 3 years it's still a good deal.

Abraham M.

Yelp
I love their bahn mi! I always get the beef or chicken! I sometimes stop by when I'm done shopping at GW in the same plaza ! Great quick food ! Always get the baguette!

Phat N.

Yelp
TLDR - Clean, service with a smile, and good food. Would repeat! I stopped by on the 4th of July. It was so late, I popped my head in door to confirm they were still open. Ordered 3 "round" sandwiches (buy 2 get 1 free), 3 egg rolls, and a vietnamese coffee. I wasn't in the mood for 'fire mouth' and appreciate the subtle bite the jalepeños added to the tasty and packed sandwiches. The premixed viet-coffee was sweet enough to tame the coffee bitterness. My only knock were the uneventful egg rolls. Thankfully they had some flavor and a slight crunch, but they were stale and understandably cold from being cooked hours earlier in the day. I didn't partake in any of their desserts but they did look good. If I'm ever in the neighborhood and craving a quickie, I'd definitely stop by again.

Riley S.

Yelp
I was given this sandwich to eat during a long car ride and it was pretty mediocre. The bread wasn't the best mostly because it got soggy after about an hour due to the amount of sauce they put in it. Even though I got the veggies on the side it still got soggy which was unfortunate. The meat itself wasn't bad but not great either. There wasn't much texture to it and you couldn't really tell that it was grilled. Overall, it wasn't the best banh mi sandwich and it didn't leave any lasting impression on me.

Ally T.

Yelp
Came at 10am on a Monday, the baos and pate chauds were quite old, ended up tossing the other two baos and two pate chauds. The baguette chicken was very average tasting. I remember this place being delicious years ago. Needless to say, everyone was disappointed in the food. I hate wasting food and sadly, ended up throwing money away. Wont be coming back.

Cindy K.

Yelp
Solid 3.75 stars ... #2, grilled pork, 4 stars - big portion, reasonable price but can improve on portion ratio. Was expecting the reddish kind of grilled pork but not a deal breaker since the pork was flavorful. Personally, My 2 complaints are the sandwich was not warm. When I order a grilled pork sandwich, I expect to be eating a warm toasty sandwich. Lastly, the veggie vs pork ratio can improve. Felt like I was eating more of a veggie sandwich. Personally, Boda in Lincoln Heights still makes the best grilled pork sandwich Pork steam buns, 3.5 stars - basic steam pork buns. Too much bun vs pork. Pork was tasty, peppery n not too salty Enjoy!

Ticha B.

Yelp
Yummy Vietnamese Banh Mi made fresh to order. They have two kinds of breads: round bread or baguette, both are $4.95 per order. The round bread is buy 2 get 1 free. My go to orders are the Saigon Special and Meatball sandwiches.

Jenny S.

Yelp
Buy 2 get 1 free ROUND (only) bread sandwiches in the GW supermarket plaza! Ordered the banh mi dac biet to eat on our trip to the airport and was pleasantly surprised! Really enjoyed the deli meat and pate, bread wasn't the freshest but there were quite a few ppl ordering at the same time as me so I'm sure they have good turnover NOTE: I asked for hot sauce and they gave a super small amount in a container but luckily the jalapeños I'm the sandwich were plenty spicy for me

Chizuka Y.

Yelp
Disgusting! Hair in my sandwich and taste really bad I wanna throw up. This place and surrounding stores look dirty. Parking lot also stinks

Jessica G.

Yelp
This place is yummy!!! Their round rolls some what resembles a Mexican Bolillo, so it was different than your normal Banh Mi on Baguettes. They were super fast. I placed a phone order and they called me back once it was ready. Took about 20 mins for 15 sandwiches. They label each one so you aren't confused! Their eggrolls are okay, nothing to special about. But I would definitely come back for their sandwiches!

Peter L.

Yelp
I ordered a #1 Special, #2 grilled pork and #6 grilled chicken, unfortunately they ran out of bread and i ended up waiting nearly 20 minutes for my food. Other folks were getting their orders before me but ordered after me. The grilled pork was my fav, followed by the chicken then the cold special. I was surprised they put soy sauce in the cold cut special, it overpowered the whole sandwich. If you come here, just do the round bread buy 2 get 1 free special. If it wasn't for this promotion i wouldn't eat here.

Phong N.

Yelp
Really good bread.. not doughy inside and has a great crisp on the crust with nice aroma. The meats were generous and the pickled veggies were great. Prices are good as well. The patechaud is perfectly bite sized. Service was quick and if you but the rounded baguette it's buy 2 and get 1 free. It's way better than Lee's sandwiches. I'll be back to try other sandwiches. Bon appetit.

Jesan S.

Yelp
The consistently best banh mi in the San Gabriel/Rosemead area. Bread rating is (1) Banh Mi Saigon 168, (2) Mr. Baguette, (3) Tip Tops. I will now only come here for banh mi after work. Egg rolls are at a satisfactory level. I have yet to try the coffee. The service is always polite and friendly.

Michi L.

Yelp
I was craving some Banh mi and wanted to try a new place. They have markings on the floor to help with social distancing. So I decided to try this place. Their sandwiches are very reasonably priced at $4.50 a sandwich. I got the Saigon special, grilled pork, and grilled chicken. All three were delicious. The Saigon special is cold cut pork. The grilled pork and chicken were both moist and very flavorful. They have both round sandwiches and the baguette style. They have a special for the round sandwiches at buy 2 get 1 free. Their Vietnamese coffee is also very good.

Chewson H.

Yelp
This place checks all of the boxes for a great Banh Mi Sandwich place. If you're familiar with the Saigon Bakery on Valley, this one is on Garvey. This one is south of I-10 freeway while the other one is north of I-10 freeway. This place is small meaning it's best if you pick up and go. Great for food when you're on the move. They have a good variety of sandwiches and other Vietnamese goodies. The parking lot is big and it's not as busy as before. There is 15 minute parking in front of this business. The food is great and I think the round sandwiches are just as good as the baguette bread. I usually get the grilled pork sandwich and this one is just as good. There is plenty of meat and veggies which the jalapeño not overpowering and making it spicy. The bread is flaky and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They also accept credit card at this bakery with a 1 dollar menu. What more can you ask for? Great parking, great prices, and they take credit card. Highly recommend coming to this place if you're in the mood for Vietnamese sandwiches

Christy Q.

Yelp
This is my go-to banh mi place. They have two options for bread: the regular baguette and the round bread. I like the round bread because it's softer, easier on the teeth than the baguette. They recently increased their prices/ changed their menus, but they still have a buy 2 get 1 free deal, which not all places have! Definitely more worth it to get the deal/ buy in bulk perhaps for a family or a group of friends/ people! They give you a lot of pate, mayo, and a decent amount of veggies (this includes the pickled daikon and carrots, cilantro, and jalapenos, aaaand cucumbers). Not many places gives cucumbers and cilantro. Their #1 is the best! I've also had their banh bao/ pork buns. I love pork baos and although theirs is fresh and decent, I think BMC/ Banh Mi Che Cali's banh baos/ pork baos are the best of the city.

Magda N.

Yelp
Their vietnamese coffee doesn't disappoint! It's strong and sweet and a little thick. Price is under 4 bucks, which is fair. The lady over the counter is very nice and the transaction went very fast and smooth. I got my coffee less than 2 minutes after ordering. The place is nice, clean, and spacious with a big window display so I can see everything from outside. Very modern look. They got a lot of snacks other than just coffee and banh mi. They have steamed buns, traditional cakes, tradition cool drink/snacks. Will try next time I have extra money to spend on snacks! Everything looks good and clean and nicely packaged.

George A.

Yelp
I had the chicken baguette OMG soo good it hit the spot the place looks really clean and nice the gentleman that helped me was super nice and friendly thank you i will be back i wanna try everything

Fei W.

Yelp
Every week must have ,i always order #2grilled pork ,my husband like #4grilled beef, buy 2 get 1 free for round bread.warm bread, hot grilled pork , cold cucumber, fresh pepper slice, marinated carrot slices, lit sweet mayo sause.perfect for me.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
This is the biggest and fattest banh mi I've had! I wasn't expecting to go here. I went to the dessert place at the food court, but was getting hungry. This is the best banh mi yet! I got the #14, Saigon special on baguette. Asked for extra pate. Did not disappoint! Was STUFFED with meat and pickled daikon and carrots, and jalapeño. I even bought EXTRA pate on the side. Sandwich was enough for lunch and dinner!

FoodieFacts E.

Yelp
Loved the sandwich and the spring rolls, delicious and fresh veggies. Will be coming back.
