Banh Mi XO

I've had banh mi from many places, but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. I've never tried this shop before and honestly won't be coming back. The pork in my grilled pork banh mi was so burnt it looked like pieces of charcoal. I've attached a picture, no one should be served food like this. On top of that, the staff were unfriendly and didn't acknowledge me at all. No greeting, no smile, no eye contact, nothing. Just cold, dismissive service. If you care about your money, your time, or even just basic edible food, I'd seriously recommend going somewhere else.

this place is GODLY!!! there are always lots of people in and out which is always a great sign. it’s truly the most perfect mix and portion of veggies to meat no matter what sandwich you pick. i LOVE the grilled pork and the chicken katsu. Their peach smoothie is a MUST try. i really think it’s the best you’ll ever have. PLEASE Try this place you will likely become a regular just like me:) so glad this place exists. absolutely phenomenal!

The food is great. The problem the last 2 times, your online ordering system. I’ve used it 100s of times before but now when I verify my number I never get the verify text message with the 6 digit code. Any now I’ve attempted so many times, it’s blocked my number for a period of time. The restaurant is paying for this service and the service is not working! My wife had the same problem with her phone 2 weeks ago. We love the convenience to order ahead, if the convenience is taken away, we will just be forced to go somewhere else. I know there’s another option to order pickup through Door Dash but I refuse to pay extra per item just for them to summit the order. Now I have all this extra time standing here waiting for my food and I’m writing this review. Please fix! I’m clearly not the only one. There were 3 people ahead of me using the self service kiosk as well. PLEASE FIX!

Okay what others have said....the food is great The closing time is a PAIN, with summer coming the number of lost sales will be huge... They prefer taking computer orders, but accept me walking in with cash The Pork sandwich with extra mayo. On the value scale is a 10/10 Note: I have walked in 3 times at 6:30 pm and discovered they are out of rolls for their sandwichs......

Hidden gem!!! This is my new go to spot for - Banh mi - vermicelli bowls - pho Their menu is about $2 more than what I would expect, but they put it into the quality and quantity of the dishes. Seriously, it’s a great spot.

Ordered takeout here a few times and I am never disappointed. It's hard to find consistent quality for takeout but this place continues to churn out fresh sandwiches (and the salads are great too) with really well cooked proteins. A neighborhood staple, and deservedly so.

Fast. Delicious. Little place for two to eat out front. Went back for a sandwhich for friend about an hour later. I didn’t leave a tip so I didn’t get a warm goodbye, but hey it’s Seattle so maybe it wasn’t about that 🤣 I think $10 is a bit steep, but it’s damn good, healthier than $15 at other fast food chains. It’s also convenient off 35th for me because I live close. (There’s not much fast food, dining or takeout around that neighborhood either.)

We've been here twice and both times have been really good. I can only speak to the pork Banh MI and some of the drinks because that's my go to, but it's all been really fresh and the price is better than most. Fortunately this is within our block, but I'd have no problem driving to get one of their meals because theirs is one of my absolute favorites.

Everything so fresh! My favorite : pork Banh mi & Brisket Pho. I still need to try salads and the fresh juice smoothies next. I just can't get away from my favorites. ;) Prices is comparable & quality is great.

Not good. Average at best. Much better sandwiches can be found in West Seattle. I consider myself a traditionalist and I typically get the classic combination with pate when I order banh mi. However for my first and ONLY visit here, I decided to go for the grilled pork. The meat was tough and dry. The bread is soft, glutinous and chewy. Consider going to OH's Sandwich in Admiral. This sandwich tasted on par with half-priced, pre-made sandwiches that have been sitting out since the break of dawn at any Asian grocery store.

Most people would know that the best banh mi is found in either Little Saigon or South Seattle, but Banh Mi Xo is truly worth the drive to West Seattle for some high quality delicious banh mi! My roommate and I got the chance to try Banh Mi Xo last week, both of us ordering their special XO Deluxe Sandwich. It's a little more on the expensive side for banh mi in Seattle, but it's worth every dollar. This banh mi is HEFTY compared to others out there, each bite leaving me more and more filled. A good amount of meat and fresh vegetables all included in. The only thing I would say is that they mixed up our banh mi as my roommate ordered one with extra pate and I ordered the regular. It wasn't until after a few bites I had to say "oh man, this is delicious but this banh mi is loaded with pate". No worries though, small mistake. I also ordered their fresh lemonade, it's Vietnamese style which was super refreshing! There isn't too many places that serve Vietnamese style fresh lemonade, so I am glad they offer it. This location has limited seating and street parking only. It's very much a deli style kind of place, would recommend ordering a banh mi and eating it at any of the nearby West Seattle parks.

Outstanding bahn mi sandwich here! Big and bold, with super fresh ingredients and plenty of heat from the jalapeños. Service was quick and efficient and there's inside seating available. Overall a definite 5-star lunch experience.

We were sad to lose previous great businesses that have been in this location, but this new shop has really impressed my family of Westside Vietnamese food aficionados. The sandwiches are really fresh and tasty. Like extra so. And the pho is the same. And the fresh rolls. So far there has not been one item we've gotten that we thought was underwhelming. Haven't sampled the whole menu yet, but with this trajectory, it's looking like they're all winners. Just depends on your mood. And if they're open ;) We can't be happier to have this great family-run place within walking distance.

The place was packed when I arrived sometime between 4-5pm. In spite of the crowd I got my food fairly quickly and it was not terribly cramped feeling in there. There are two little stations at which customers place orders and pay while the staff works quickly to complete the orders. The staff was kind and attentive. They checked on me twice to make sure my order was being handled. When I got my sandwich the first thing I noticed is how heavy it was. They are generous with the meat and veggies. The bread was warm and crusty and fresh. The pickled veggies were crisp and the meat was hot and juicy. I was impressed. They have a good system there and handle a high volume quickly so don't be dismayed if it looks busy. The wait is short and the food is worth it. I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. I thought the sandwiches were fairly priced and definitely a good value. I had the chicken though the pork and tofu looked appetizing as well. This is sure to be someplace I visit frequently. Happy there's a tasty Banh mi spot in the area.

First time ever trying Banh Mi and I have always wanted to give it a try. I ordered the chicken teriyaki sandwich and this was a great choice. It was so delicious and such a fresh bite. The service was quick and friendly and they had seating outside and inside. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a reasonably priced sandwich.

I had the bahn mi sandwich and the chicken/pork bowl. Place is a bit overpriced but the bahn mi sandwhich was quite good. The bowl was good but had a little too much vermicelli and not enough meat for the price. This restaurant is not really a place to sit down and eat as there isn't a ton of seating, but is great for grab and go. Will come back for the barn mi sandwhich

I am so happy to have a Banh Mi within walking distance of my house! It was delicious, ordering was beyond easy, and they also have a variety of drinks to choose from including iced coffee and iced tea. Food was quick, ate outside. Love it!

To place an order, you use the tablet on the counter. You are able to specify if you want extra meat or other ingredients or to omit any ingredients i.e. jalapeños for me. They only accept credit or debit cards. It's a small place but there is an L-shaped counter seating I'm guessing maybe for 8-10 people. I ordered a grilled pork bahn mi sandwich. I was happy to see they have preprinted brown bags with what type of sandwich it is. So many places if you order multiple sandwiches, you don't know what type of meat is inside until you open all the sandwich wrappers. I thought the price of 9.25 was a little overpriced until I took the sandwich out of the wrapper. It was loaded with grilled pork! The pork covered the whole bread. It was so tasty! They were giving out free samples of their jello. I chose the pandan jello. It was tasty too. I wish the texture was a little softer though.

We have tried Banh Mi it feels like everywhere. West Coast, East Coast, The Islands but not Vietnam, although we hope someday. :) This new spot in West Seattle stands up to many we have had. The bread is soft in the center with a nice crunch on the outside. The pork is very tender and juicy. The veggies are very fresh and sliced perfect to create a nice crisp fresh flavor. The jalapeño was sliced thin lengthwise which was awesome. The service is very friendly and was overall great. It's a bit more expensive than the average banh mi but was filling. Enjoy!

5 of us at here recently for the first time and had various types of Banh Mi. We were excited by the many great reviews. They were very busy so obviously they are popular with most people. The service was great and the small eating space was warm and cozy. Sadly, none of us liked our Banh Mi mostly because of the overly sweet sauce on them, and none of us really liked the meat as much as other places we have been either. If you go here, you might want to request traditional mayonnaise instead of their sauce. Lastly, they were kind of pricey, especially considering we didn't enjoy them.

Literally the toughest meat I've ever had in a bun. I couldn't even finish my bowl (and I am what some might consider a thicc boi). The restaurant ran out of pork egg rolls so gave me two extra veggie egg rolls and while the pork egg rolls were solid, the vegetable ones were underwhelming. As a way to hopefully redeem the experience, I ordered a Vietnamese coffee, expecting it to take a minute knowing that it is a slow and deliberate process. Nope. It came out in like a minute, meaning it was all premade. And it tasted like it.

I know they're new. But with 3 people behind the counter working on orders and only 3 small orders ahead of us, I did not expect to wait 25 minutes. And then when we finally got our food, the egg rolls were cold and there weren't any jalapenos in the sandwiches. Huh. We wanted jalapenos! Flavor-wise, the food wasn't bad. My vermicelli bowl had a generous amount of pork, but the pork marinade was sweeter than I prefer. If you've ever had Chinese jerky, that's what it reminded me of. If you don't like your vermicelli too sweet, use the fish sauce sparingly because it's also very sweet. The space is pretty small, so there isn't much room to wait inside while people are dining in at the little counter row. We waited outside in the cold, where the benches were wet because they're uncovered. Overall, I thought it was ok. If I lived within walking distance, I might order 20 minutes in advance and pick up. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're looking for something quick though.

*SO* thrilled to have this little gem in the neighborhood. We needed a little variety over here. It's prefect for takeout or a quick/small lunch, in (the seating is very limited). The quality and ingredients are extremely high, and the proportions (and protein) are overly generous.

This place is the bomb. One of the best if not THE best sandwiches in West Seattle. Incredibly fresh and delicious. Fast and efficient service. Go!

Been eating banh mi for decades and these are the best I've ever had. The tempura shrimp is my new favorite. Everything about it is perfect and they are generously sized. Haven't branched out and tried other things because I don't like eating out of takeout containers or throwing them away. That's just me.

*sniffles* really delicious. the bread is FRESH, veggies are pickled to goodness, the marination is flavorful. ideal lunch after a long sun soak in the park. I also had their crispy veggie spring rolls...phew. Vietnamese folks have the best spring rolls hands DOWN. This place is no exception. welcome to the neighborhood, friends. If only I could eat more bread I'd come here more often but alas you will see me once a month. til next time

I see mixed reviews, and we are a mixed household. My partner, who can eat anything, loved the Special Banh Mi sandwich. Granted, the bread and veggies are delicious and fresh, but the meat was chewy and tough. I pulled it out and gave it to her. The slice of what I assumed was pork looked formed and pre-fab. I've had better Banh Mi sandwiches elsewhere in West Seattle. Disappointing as they have so many wonderful reviews; I just can't get past tough meat.

New Banh Mi joint in West Seattle that's only been open for two weeks and already they're off to a amazing start! Typically when I see shops like this open up there's definitely some operational kinks they have to work out. You know what? I can't tell. Ordered Milk Tea with boba and a Grilled Pork Banh Mi. Wow! Have to say, if they weren't primarily banh mi sandwiches, I think they could corner that market. Seriously. Happy Lemon in Westwood? Their franchise quality is definitely not there. Same with Sharetea. The boba here was made perfectly and the tea is not from powder. Owner said if they have time they may expand on flavors. Grilled Pork Banh Mi I've noticed from other places are sometimes dry. Banh Mi XO? Perfectly seasoned and juicy. You might be thinking, what the heo? I usually pay $5 for a banh mi. Jeez big guy, these folks needa make rent. It's a good price here versus paying $20 for a sandwich at The Birdhouse because you forgot you ordered it with avocados. I would definitely go back. They're also open next to the West Seattle Fish House so if you're hungry check that out too and give them some love. Would highly recommend!

This is the very best that you can find. Perfect location. I've tried so many different Banh mi sandwiches but this top them all. If you have not been to this location, check it out. Their grilled pork is fantastic and their tempura shrimp off the chain. I came for my first time about a month ago and I've had at least 10 sandwiches cents everyone inside is very friendly and great people to talk to. At this moment I'm picking up the grilled pork Banh mi, the tempura shrimp Banh mi and a side of tempura shrimp, and their spring rolls.

The shrimp tempura banh mi was good. But I didn't care for the Vietnamese cà phê sữa đá. Coffee tastes like it came from a mix. Not from drip fresh coffee beans.

Everyone has an opinion, Here's mine. Product: 1st off their Chicken sandwich is my newest fave! Great flavors! The sandwich is the right size, the bread has just a little crunch on the outside. Great sauce and just the right amount of jalapeños (for my taste). Tech: The in house ordering system is quick and easy so there's not much waiting for walk-in's to order (If any). It's that simple, unless you want to custom order (which I don't). I see you can customize your order on line. I waited maybe 10 minutes once for y order, today (Sunday) it was less. Ambiance: I probably wouldn't hang out there and eat (just my preference to grab & go), but if you want to, the place is well lit, clean and the mostly window seating is just fine. The prices are good too! I say go there and try it!

My husband picked up some sandwiches for dinner. I didn't really have any expectations and don't really have big opinions about bahn mi. Holy moly! The roasted pork sandwich was so delicious! The veggies were all fresh and crispy. The carrot and daikon were nicely pickled. The jalapeño was neatly cut into strips instead of just rings with all the seeds still attached. The pork was lovely- a nice lemongrass flavor with a sweet sauce. And the bread was perfect. Crispy on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside. It's well worth the price and can pretty much feed two people. There was nothing to improve on this sandwich. This is one of the best meals I have had since moving to Seattle almost 4 years ago. Give this place your business!

Great Banh Mi would highly recommend if you are on the area. Thai tea was also good. Service was good and easy to order on the screen.

Sooooo good! Everything was fresh, the bread was obviously freshly baked and warm, the meat was flavorful, the picked jalapenos and diakon added just the right tart and earthy notes! One of the best banh mi I've had in ages!

$9.25 for a tofu banh mi. I get that things are getting expensive, but we've just crossed the price point that I think is too high. You place your own order on a touch screen (two screens available) and when I asked the worker how I can make an edit to a sandwich, he said to verbally tell them the edit. I asked for no jalapeños and got a sandwich with jalapeños. I think it's a simple request to fulfill, not sure where they take note of any modifications, but anyways don't expect a specialized order here. There were 5 orders behind me and the customers were told a 20 minute wait. So this place is still getting its footing as far as speed and attention to detail, but overall, I did enjoy the flavor of my tofu banh mi. The bread is pretty typical of other Seattle banh mi shops. The sandwich is nicely stuffed. I do think it is filling. I'm comparing this to my favorite spot, Honey Bear, in Federal Way which is a little bigger in size, comparable in flavor, cheaper in price. For good location in West Seattle, it is a solid place to frequent. To note, they also sell bubble tea and other beverages for $6-7+. I have high hopes for this place and I think people who don't care to venture out for a banh mi will find it acceptable too.

Fresh, fast, delicious. Enjoyed the tofu banh mi and the mango lemonade. My son thought the chicken banh mi was great, too. Will be returning for more taste tests.

Grabbed a couple of banh mis (pork and tofu) here in late December, not long after they'd opened. Super tasty. And the inside is nice and clean. Glad to have a go-to banh mi in the neighborhood!

The food and the convenience is a great pairing! I have had the opportunity to enjoy both the chicken and the tofu banh mi. Tofu was my preferred texture and the chicken was grilled to perfection. It was juicy and the sauce ratio was perfect. Every vegetable was fresh and tasty! I've also tried many of the fresh juices. The orange, mango, and fresh lemonade were delicious! I will definitely order the orange again for a good vitamin boost on the run. What a cute and welcoming addition to the corner of Henderson & 35th Ave SW! My only hope is they add fresh rolls with a peanut sauce to their menu soon!

I finally made it there and they were all out of Banh Mi. What a huge disappointment. They also don't accept cash. I decided to pay it forward ended up putting another customers order on my card because I was feeling generous. I didn't want to tip them for the other transaction and they charged an extra $4.00 for a tip. WTH. I don't think I will be giving them another try.

Great sandwiches & noodle bowls fast and at a great price. Mobile ordering direct from their website is the best/cheapest option for pickup. Rolls are always fresh. Sandwiches & bowls come with tons of meat.

This spot is definitely my new 'go to' spot for Bahn Mi! The bread is great delicious and jam packed with good fillings. The staff was friendly. The location is clean, modern, and inviting.

The bahn mi is excellent. So far I've tried the grilled pork and the tofu versions - both were spectacular. The egg rolls and the spring rolls are super tasty. I've also had the vermicelli bowl (bun) with grilled pork, also delicious. To top it off, the service is fast and very helpful. I had a small issue about my order once and they fixed it. Lovely business. I will be back (again and again) to support!

So happy to have this new restaurant in our neighborhood! We got the pork bahn mi and they were perfect. The roll was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with delicious seasoned grilled pork, and stuffed with fresh and pickled veggies. So good!!

We stopped in for the first time today, greeted immediately and less than 10 minutes later got our order. Pork banh mi and passionade were fresh and delicious. Most definitely would come back. Small area with limited seating but found a spot. Very friendly staff. Next time will ask for more jalapeños I think only one or two in the sandwich

The Vegetarian Tofu sandwich is awesome. The bread is nicely toasted and soft, the tofu is perfectly seasoned, and the condiments are fresh. Service is good. Cute little place. Highly recommend. Will be my regular stop!
