Oh, my goodness. There is a reason why Bangles has been nominated and the winner of Choice Awards in Topeka. The coffee is full bodied and delicious without creamer. The food arrived quickly and cooked to perfection. (You would be amazed how many cooks can't make eggs overhand.) We enjoyed our food, and will return.

Google
The food and service was excellent. First time there. I will be back. They do serve breakfast all day. The best part was the portion sizes. Got to love that.

First time over night in Kansas, and was looking for something to eat. Banjo's was not my first choice but where I wanted to go to was closed( Luckily for me). Greated for the moment I entered the door till I left with my take out. For was good and plentiful. So glad I came across them. 👌🏾🤤

Google
A wonderful small town diner in big city Topeka! I'm a trucker getting unloaded at Target Distribution and it takes them a while, so the friendly lady there recommended this friendly place! And what a breakfast! Great portions, endless coffee and my server Shannon was a ray of sunshine! Now I don't care how long to take to unload the trailer.... just kidding, I do care! Otherwise, I'll have to eat lunch or dinner here too.

Google
Best food, best people and very Veteran friendly. I love this place!!! Very busy, but everyone seems to know everyone. I can't say enough good things about Banjo's.

Google
I visited for breakfast while in Topeka. Connie was an amazing server! The food was delicious and I was told that Tammy was the cook. It was a cute little restaurant and I can't wait to visit their new location!

Google
So, PISSED! 14 Dollars for what they called a, “Hamburger Steak,” which was literally a tiny, McDonald’s sized dry, thin sad excuse of a piece of meat. 14$, for that plus 2 eggs, toast & hash browns. 1.89$ worth of food! I’ll NEVER GO BACK!!!

Ramona M.

Google
This place served an overabundance amount of food! I got the make your own omelet and they did not fudge on the amount of veggies or bacon in the omelet!! The worker bees were very nice!!

Yelp
Best breakfast food we've had in AGES. Hands down best breakfast in Topeka, Lawrence, or Olathe. Crispy hashbrowns and the BACON is the best bacon I've had from any restaurant anywhere!!! Thick, crispy, and slightly sweet. Waitress was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Banjo's never fails. It's not much to look at from the outside, but don't let that fool you. The servers are attentive and handle their tables well. The coffee is good. I always get the biscuits and gravy because that's how I judge a breakfast place. Large portions of hot biscuits and gravy always taste delicious. I also always get the country fried potatoes. So delicious. So if you are looking for a hearty breakfast this is the place for you.

Leslie M.

Yelp
We order here from work on the regular! Great biscuits and gravy and their toaster sandwich will satisfy anyone! Service is fantastic!

Yelp
I've ate here a couple times now and both times the food was good. Service was great the first time and the second time wasn't the best. Although the last time my mom and I got there about 1:00 PM and they close at 2:00PM, so by the time we got our meal we felt like we were being rushed to get out of there. Just the vibes we got from our waitress. The first time I ordered pancakes, sausage, and eggs. Everything tasted great. Coffee was nice and hot, which the waitress kept it full too. I was there before the lunch crowd arrived. Although breakfast is served all day long. Second time was my mom and I eating there, which we decided to just split a meal. We ordered an omelet, fruit, and pancakes. All of the food was great except the fruit, but it's out of season. Fruit was only one option to choose from, so other choices are available. Service could be improved. It might be because it was towards closing and she just wanted to call it day? I still thought even splitting a meal that $20.00 was a bit pricy for no more then we got and $18.00 for when I ate by myself was pricy too, but inflation is horrible. The restaurant is clean. I went to the bathroom and the signs hanging up in there gave me a chuckle. I will say the restaurant is spread out with a lot of room for seating. If you are looking for some good down home cooking, this is the place. Be prepared because during lunch this place is extremely busy!

Yelp
Hubby and I stopped in on the way to the airport. Found this place on my trusty Yelp app. We generally like to try Mom and Pop locations for breakfast as we have usually found they provide the best be breakfast. Well Banjos Cafe is another hot spot to add to our list. When you pull up to this lil place it is off the beaten road. But don't let the location fool you. They are serving up some good breakfast food. I had the veggie omelette with hash browns and pancakes, hubby had the Corny with grits and pancakes. We both enjoyed our breakfast. Omelette well made and full of veggies, hash browns cooked just right and not over cooked or burnt, hubby said his grits had a really good taste to them. Definitely will add this place to my collections.

Yelp
Friendly little diner with plenty of options. Good service and fair prices. Everything tasted like simple homestyle breakfast, nothing spectacular but still a good place to have a nice breakfast experience.

Yelp
Finally tried this place and it was surprisingly good! Some of the BEST biscuits & gravy we have had! Pancakes were yummy & bacon was thick & crispy. French toast was cinnamon-y but just okay. Service was great, friendly & fast. It is showing it's age but don't look at the floors & just remember it's supposed to be a little divey.

Yelp
I didn't expect much, it was in a not very special part of town, just as a person enters Topeka, near the elevators. It fully overrode my expectations however. It was huge inside and pages plural of menu. I ended up getting a special, cod and fries for 9.99. They were wonderful! Only one or two waitresses but they were magnificent, reached everyone quickly and often checked on refills. It was a cute comforting type of diner. I will definitely return there.

Yelp
All wheat place not safe. Tons of flour in that place. If you have allergies avoid this place. This is one place ill never go.

Claudia Z.

Yelp
Great service and the food was great! This is my 3rd time visiting when we are in town.

D R.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch about 12:45. It was not very busy maybe 1/4 occupied. Sat for eight minutes while the three waitresses were chitchatting by the register. Since we didn't have time to continue to wait. Not one ever came to the table. We have been there numerous times before and never experienced service this poor. We may try them again however if this is the new service standard we will not return. Money walking out the door.

Yelp
We went to Banjo's based on reviews and the recommendation of our waitress from dinner the night before. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the portions generous. My husband had the Country Breakfast, which came with a large portion of biscuits and gravy (half order) . We are very picky about biscuits and gravy since my husband makes his own. We were very pleased with their version. I had pancakes which were delicious. Both of our meals came with 4 slices of bacon, cooked perfectly so that they were nice and crispy. Each meal also came with wonderful hash browns. Even though it was busy, staff were friendly and service was fairly quick.

Yelp
Decided to get off the beaten path and give a local restaurant a try. I'm glad we did stop at Banjo's. Great breakfast spot at a reasonable price.

JeanAnn E.

Yelp
Awesome waitstaff, clean environment and excellent food. Ham and beans, moist cornbread was better than grandmas! Burger, excellent and fries are best in town-crispy but dry and seasoned perfectly!

Katelyn C.

Yelp
My husband and I came up to Kansas to see family for a week and ended up eating at Banjos almost everyday. Food is always amazing and the service is always fast and amazing. It has such a welcoming feel when you walk in and is always filled with people chatting and laughing. Great prices, great food and great service. What else could you ask for.

Yelp
Banjo's cafe is definitely a go to breakfast spot. We decided to come and take our family out to breakfast while we were in town visiting. The said Banjo's is the place. It was busy but were seated quickly. 3 of our guests ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast. My husband and I shared a short stack of pancakes. My husband had the country breakfast. I had the basic hashbrowns and eggs and toast. Our server was very attentive, brought all the condiments and jelly we needed. Kept the coffee hot and flowing. Hats off to the chef cause my eggs were perfection. Perfect over easy and my hashbrowns were delicious. Everyone polished off their plates . No leftovers. We definitely left full and satisfied. I really like the decor , it was homey and inviting. I didn't take time to take pictures, we were hungry lol

John M.

Yelp
For a great meal, be it breakfast or lunch, you can not go wrong with Banjo's! Homestyle cooking, just like Aunt Bernie would make! If you leave here hungry, it's your own damn fault.

Rhonda M.

Yelp
Great stop for breakfast. Busy but worth the wait. Best biscuits and gravy. It's truly a gem

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing! Stopped by here off a recommendation from a coworker and glad we made it in. We love small town vibes like Topeka, which is where this restaurant is located. Small towns like this have great mom and pop restaurants like Banjo's. I ordered the French toast combo which was all cooked to perfection. Sort of hard to mess up breakfast, but believe me, some places either try to do too much or just lack imagination, but Banjo's definitely nailed it on the French toast. Our server was awesome and the restaurant was clean/well kept. One more item of note, this place is definitely easy on the billfold. Give it a shot, I promise you'll love it too! TWO snaps up in a Z formation for Banjo's. Happy eating, my foodies!

Yelp
Tasty food, friendly staff, and very clean. Feels like a small-town breakfast joint but within the city of Topeka.

Yelp
Wow.... we are up here visiting family in Topeka and wanted to go to a nice "mom and pop" diner. We saw that this place gets great reviews on Yelp, so we had to come. It is the perfect breakfast place, huge portions, good hot coffee and great service. Our waitress was Chi-Chi and she was great, friendly, warm and treated us like family. The biscuits and gravy are excellent and huge portion. The grits was creamy, buttery perfection. My father had the oatmeal and it was the biggest bowl of oatmeal I've ever seen. If you are in the area and hungry you must stop by.

Yelp
Server. No clue. If she said her name. I don't remember. The receipt said it was chi chi. Ambiance. American diner with comfortable seating. Food. About what one might expect from a greasy spoon. Grilled cheese was good to very good. Onion rings were okay, not worth the cost. Spicy chicken sandwich was okay. NOT spicy, but tasty. Menu says served on a Hawaiian roll. It's not. It's a hamburger bun. Curly fries were seasoned well and served hot. Overall. Very very small restrooms. Definitely not the experience we had last time. Food was not near as good. Military. Yes with ID

Morgan S.

Yelp
We went there on a Sunday morning. We knew there was going to be a wait, we put our name in and received a pager. We were told the wait would be 20 minutes. After 35 minutes of waiting, parties that arrived after us and with more people were being sat first. I politely asked the hostess how much longer, and she was extremely rude.

Yelp
Good food ~ homey atmosphere. The waitress was so incredibly nice ~ I really appreciate her patience.

Yelp
I'm a breakfast guy when I'm not working and today I wanted to try this place for its reputation of serving home style, large portions and biscuits and gravy. I was impressed with the speed of my meal being served after the order was placed! Now it took a few minutes for the waitress to drop off a menu but I already had in mind what I wanted. Biscuits and gravy and bacon and eggs. Well they had that and another side and I went with hash browns. And I ordered hot tea. What I was impressed after I gave it some thought the gravy came in a big cup and that's because I'm the one that prefers gravy on my hash browns and I always might have to ask for another cup because if it's good gravy I will smoother it over almost everything. That being said the biscuits were fresh and maybe a corn meal also which was a bit of a surprise and the gravy was really good reminds me of truck stops that is always packed because the truckers always knew where to get a good home cooked breakfast. The bacon tasted like boars head bacon and even if it's not it's close too it. I got my eggs scrambled because that's what I prefer when no toast is involved. I was about half way done with this meal when I started to feel full and sometimes when your really hungry you eat really fast and you really don't taste your food. But if your like me relax and eat slow maybe take a break read your newspaper or check your status on your phone or visit with your company your with you will get full. Just be prepared if it's busy and the wait may take a little time but in the end you be happy and full. And order a cinnamon roll it's really delicious and sweet

Yelp
Their service is terrible. We were frequent flyers and they're rude and could care less we were there. We eat at home or go elsewhere.
google avatar

Yelp
Very military friendly. Food is delicious and cheap. Even when they're busy they provide great service.

Yelp
Great stop for us. I had breakfast and was cooked the way I like it. My wife had a chicken salad sandwich, bean soup and loved it. They killed it with deserts. I had a strawberry rhubarb pie that was awesome. My wife had a chocolate peanut butter pie and loved it. Great little joint for a good meal.

Yelp
Fantastic Breakfast! "Kitchen Sink"Omelette was awesome! Generous portions for a reasonable price. Others in my party had pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and even grits. Diverse menu & everyone loved their food!
google avatar

Cathi S.

Yelp
We had a late breakfast (DH) and early lunch (me) today. This was our first visit and we were pleased with our choice. DH enjoyed the full breakfast with a large biscuit and gravy. I had the french dip with hashbrowns instead of fries. Service was great and we left full and satsified.

Troy W.

Yelp
Really good breakfast place. Waitress was fun and friendly and was able to joke along with me. I appreciate a fun waitress. The food was excellent and great value. If I'm ever in Topeka again, I'll make it a point to stop and eat.

Yelp
What a great local place that serves of plentiful helpings of good food at a reasonable price by some really friendly people! Banjo's cafe was a little off of my beaten track but I was exploring so I thought I would stop in and fill my growling stomach. "Seat yourself" said the sign and so I did, picking a small table for two tucked in the corner where I could watch all the other patrons enjoy their food. Banjo's has quite an eclectic crowd, from bikers to families, couples to singles, all coming together for the common goal of good food at a good price. I had been warned by a local that sometimes it takes awhile for the food to come up, and it even says it on the menu, but my food came up quickly, piping hot from the kitchen. The menu is large and offers up most breakfast items you can imagine. I went with my standby of an omlette which came with hashbrowns, pancakes or toast, and with a piping hot cup of coffee that seemingly was never empty, I was a happy girl. Jordan was my server, and even though she had other customers, she kept a good watch out over me, making sure I had what I wanted and offering up some friendly banter. Breakfast for a ton of food ran about $15 and I was in and out in less than an hour which was perfect as I had more exploring to do. Banjo's cafe. The only thing that could have made it better would have been someone playing it's namesake instrument as I enjoyed my food!

Yelp
We, my Mom, Sister and I headed over for breakfast so my younger sister doesn't have to cook, but she is a fabulous cook !!! This place is a great diner. I had the chicken fried chicken bowl. I've never seen this on a menu, so I thought I would try it and I am so glad I did it was perfect. I will order it again. After we ordered our food two friends came in and joined us and the waitstaff never missed a beat. Their food arrived shortly after ours. I noticed they had three slices of German chocolate cake my younger sister's favorite birthday cake. It was decided that since we wouldn't be back for her birthday in August, we decided to give her a surprise little birthday gathering later in her home. She loved it and Banjo's did my baking of the cake. We also added another slice of pie making sure everyone at the table had dessert. Their list of pies was impressive just exactly how my mother's pie list was when she owned her own diner in Topeka, Kansas. Remember if you're anywhere near Topeka try this place but remember they close at 2:00 pm. My birthday sister's review of the German chocolate cake her words "Their German Chocolate cake was truly exquisite for sure!!"

Yelp
Cute little cafe nestled right by Forbes field. It's a place were you walk in and seat yourself and have a great meal. Every plate was super big portions - come with an empty stomach cause it will leave full. Review on the food: Full order of biscuits and gravy - huge helping and would recommend if you are super hungry just to huger the half order. Cooks special - appears to be similar to the husky breakfast but cheaper and more food. Ni country omelette - full of great fixings. Huge helping.

Yelp
Come here a lot with my family, the staff is always kind and the food is fantastic. Good breakfast and lunch options, so it's easy to find something for anyone even if you're a picky eater (which I am). It is popular though so be prepared for long wait times.

Chandra S.

Yelp
We absolutely love this place! We were first introduced to this place by a friend of ours who insisted we try the biscuits and gravy. We were not disappointed! They were amazing. Everything we have tried there is very good, large portioned and reasonably priced. There is a hometown feel to the place. It is our go-to on the weekends for the kitchen sink omlet! Yummy!

Emily T.

Yelp
Amazing food and service best cafe in Topeka. I mostly order off the breakfast menu however they have amazing lunch options as well. Definitely recommend

Yelp
Love this place! My fiancé and I live in mn, and everytime we visit we go here! Great food!

Deneille W.

Yelp
The food was delicious and service was great! I would definitely recommend eating at Banjo's!

Dawn B.

Yelp
This place is always packed and has the most delicious food. New to the area and we heard from others to try which it did not disappoint. The Kitchen sink is perfect for breakfast and the club sandwich and tater tots was delicious as well. Only open breakfast and lunch which is a bummer for those nights I don't feel like cooking.
google avatar

Doug B.

Yelp
Passing through town and needed a good brunch, and Banjo's hit the spot! Especially good was the Kitchen Sink, which certainly lived up to its name: eggs, hash browns, onions, peppers, mushrooms, ham, bacon- good stuff! My kids also loved the pancakes and the sausage burrito was fantastic. 5 stars easy!

Yelp
Really bad The service is pitiful. Takes forever to get a menu. The coffee is horrible. Switched to water, the water is the problem. When we sat down ordered coffee there were only 4 cream on table. Asked fOr more. Waitress said sure no problem never came back With more. Orange juicE in a bOttle. Worst b Reakfast I have had Wouldn't go back if it wwere free.

Yelp
Stopped in Topeka,KS and looked up Banjos Cafe. Have to agree with other Yelpers. Definitely a home down place with excellent food and service. Highly recommend by us. Prices are fair for the quality. Known for huge omelets. And everything else!

Yelp
2nd time here. Cooks breakfast is the best!! Pancakes, bacon, eggs and hash browns. Place is usually busy so it must be good!!
google avatar

Kas M.

Yelp
I really like this place. They have the best pancakes! All my family really liked their food. Our waitress was friendly. The food could have been delivered a little faster but I know service is struggling just about everywhere so I know that's a risk when eating out.
google avatar

Jenn B.

Yelp
To preface this, we are here after we all weighed in for a power lifting meet and we all cut weight so we were STARVING. This place did not disappoint one bit! We basically ordered one of everything and the French toast was our favorite. Also the kitchen sink omelette was perfection. The chef's mom waited on us and she was a treat. Really sweet woman and was quick with service. I'd absolutely come back!!! Good coffee, but if you like fresh OJ you're out of luck. Only bottles.

Yelp
First timer... A bit confused at first, as in the when my friends and I sat down, we didn't know who worked here and who didn't?¿ it took a while to get someone to bring us our menu too. Granted it was a bit busy (holiday) Flies, too many of them for a restaurant to have inside its business. (Just saying). Service was ok, it warmed up to me. Now the food was great, big portions and hot till the last bite. Over all food was 10 / service 7 / place 4 *flies... Need to do something about that manager(s) The awesome thing was my friends and I didn't pay for our lunch it cuz a very generous man paid for our lunch ( we had our ACUs, military clothes on training orders in Topeka) We didn't get a chance to tell him "Thank him" But sir, wherever you are at "Thank you for your support and God Bless you and your family"

Yelp
Great breakfasts! Friendly. Helpful. Room enough to park trailer on street out front.
