The 12 Best Restaurants In Beacon, New York 2024

"This is Beacon’s go-to independent coffee shop. As you might expect of a coffee shop around here, they have a lovely outdoor patio where you should have a latte (or a beer) while you plot your next move around town. Which could be checking out a couple of shops nearby or going across the street for some ice cream at Beacon Creamery." - anne cruz

Google
I had their house coffee and iced tea there many times. Felt like I was an honored guest at a friend's house - the ambience is incredible! Be sure to go there early in the morning - they tend to fill up fast, but their customers tend to be the kind of people you want to meet!!

Google
Great spot to pick up a coffee. They have back patio area on a nice day! I got the frozen chai latte, which was good but on the sweeter side.

Google
Bank Square Coffeehouse in Beacon is an adorable gem with a cool, laid-back vibe. Their coffee is delicious with a great variety of flavors, and the shop has a warm, welcoming feel. Bonus points for their awesome program supporting law enforcement, it's clear they care about the community. A perfect spot to relax and recharge!

Google
employee and even customers were not friendly. hot chocolate was so delicious and very rich, probably the best i’ve had ever. strawberry banana smoothie was absolutely disgusting and liquidy. tasted like what jar baby food smells like, so gross that i had to toss the whole thing

I have been coming to Bank Sq. almost daily for years, by and large it used to be my go-to spot. Lately, the owners have really let this shop fall by the wayside. A general level of dirty walls, the bathroom, and just generally worn. This hasn't bothered me too much, but the lack of any heat in the winter has made my daily stay here unbearable. 53º indoors is really unacceptable for not only myself, but the friendly staff that always works hard here. I often find myself going home to be in heat rather than staying and giving more business during lunch. Unfortunately, this isn't the case for the staff who has no choice but to work in 50 degree indoor temps. Given their 3 locations, keeping their flagship coffee shop in this safe isn't acceptable. Happy to remove this review once the owners step up and fix the heat.

Google
Nothing special! We stopped by this place while visiting the Beacon farmers market, hoping for a decent Americano. The space is quite large with comfy couches, standard coffee shop seating, and a spacious but somewhat chaotic outdoor area. The service was just okay—staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other than in serving customers. Most importantly, the coffee was mediocre. Overall, it’s an average spot but nothing to write home about.

Google
Very nice coffee house with warm hipster-y vibes. Plenty of seats in different rooms. Regular menu with nothing that really stands out but coffee was on point. They also sell their own beans. Prompt service, nice crew working together

Google
Good iced mocha and good frozen chai! Definitely a good stop before your shopping commences. The interior reminds me of an early 2000s sitcom.

Yelp
Chill, not pretentious vibes. Really good coffee. Nice location. Reasonable price. Staff friendly. What else do you need to know lol

Rachel W.

Yelp
Horrible scone (wet and tasteless) Restroom are so dirty with splash of Sh&t all over. And you nee a code to use the restroom which is worst than any public ones I've seen.

Yelp
My ORDER : Coffee Cake and Peanut Butter Cold Brew Nestled in the small IMPACTFUL TOWN of Beacon, NY; I stopped by this tiny comfortable coffee spot to charge my phone and wait for my "taxi service" to head home. Within seconds of me walking in I was greeted with the one of a kind aesthetic at Bank Square Coffeehouse. It a small cozy corner spot with a large variety of pastry's and the big highlight (coffee beverages). I did a quick Google search because I needed a spot to charge my phone and this establishment has plenty of outlets. Everything and everyone seemed to be flowing naturally and the staff are definitely respectful and professional. 0 complaints, I will most definitely come back to this busy one if a kind established (with two rooms and plenty of seating areas)... again. Please support the locals!

Yelp
Lovely coffee to stop by, the ambiance was easy going; great music and the decor makes it feel warm and cozy. Order a frozen chai latte, it was creamy and did not disappoint. Service was okay, they took our order and the baristas were polite.

Cleaver W.

Yelp
This place is definitely a popular local destination. Many folk, walk in on weekends to grab a fantastic cup of coffee, latte, you name it. Not fancy, this is where you meet ur friends, late by area standards, (things close at 8 pm!) Some people come to work with laptops. Couches are worn, little garden in back, outside sitting for best people watching in Beacon! Personally grab a cup then head to long Dock Park. Enjoy the river with your matte!

Yelp
You ever just play an Autumn Cafe Playlist on YouTube? Well, this is it. First place I entered at Beacon, NY and you are met with the fresh smell of ground coffee beans. I'm not a coffee drinker so I got myself a hot apple cider. The people who work here are also so kind and the service was fast. What really makes this place different is their live band! The homey, cozy, and serene feeling you get just from sitting there listening to them is indescribable. It's just so peaceful as you sip on your hot drink. There are couches, tables and stained glass art from a local artist on the walls. This is a gem of a place and a must-visit! COZIEST PLACE EVER!

Yelp
A very cozy local coffee shop with excellent pastries and unique coffees and teas. Our lattes and sticky buns were perfect for a midday catch-up chat with our granddaughter. A pleasant unique experience in a little old town on the Hudson

Yelp
Really nice spot! Food/Drink: Mostly small Pattie's, and packages snacks. Dinning Area: Rather large cozy, couch, high top tables, bar stools, and chairs. Prices: Relatively expensive, but regular for a coffee shop. Large black Iced tea and medium iced chai tea latte $10. Parking: Right off Main Street, no parking except a few street spots. Bathrooms: Bathroom was clean. 1 small unisex. Coffee: I didn't try it this time. Atmosphere: Typical coffee house, beatnik, bougie, chill and tranquil. Staff/Attendants: Staff was Great, the guy at the front cashier/barista was nice, and respectful. Quick process done in a flash. Nice experience! 7/10

Yelp
The owners should be properly training their staff. It's not fair to put someone behind the counter who is unprepared.

Yelp
When in Beacon, listen to the locals. There are plenty of good Java options but go ahead, get in line, the locals know best. As most places post Covid, it's a bit understaffed but with very reasonable prices, amble selection of brews and huge indoor and outdoor dining, it's kinda worth the wait.

Mallory S.

Yelp
Nothing against the coffee but the day we came in service was unpleasant. Bummed out considering the prices we paid.
google avatar

Jasmin H.

Yelp
Such a cute little coffee shop! Plenty of seating with different chair options, couch, stools, and chairs. They also had seating outside, but we went on a snow day so everything was covered. The workers were extremely friendly and the coffee was also delicious!

Yelp
Came in for a caffeine hit and I love it. A perfect place for coffee and hanging--just like a proper coffee place is meant to be.
google avatar

Yelp
Super friendly & cozy coffee shop. Stopped by to grab a quick drink before I had to head out for my train and was very influenced by a very friendly worker to get a liquid death tea (which I didnt know even existed!). Overall super fast, friendly & will definitely stop by again :)

Yelp
A small coffee shop at the end of the main street in Beacon. Servers are typically aloof, not terribly friendly, but the coffees are good, as are the smoothies. Lots of great seating in the second room, and some in the main room as well.
google avatar

Stacey D.

Yelp
Came here for first time after a walk on some trails. It's such a cute cafe. It's spacious with much seating inside and outside. Love the station where you can toast your own bagels there smoothies are tasty and so are their treats. You can also purchase some candles, shirts, travelers mugs etc. the sofas are comfy and I enjoyed just sitting eating my bagel and relaxing. Staff were super friendly. If you are in the area, definitely check it out. It's definitely a place that will get packed.

Yelp
I stopped briefly for coffee and a croissant on my way to Storm King. This is a pretty cozy cafe that is at the edge of Main Street, so it's perfect for people that need nourishment leaving or coming from Beacon. There's was a relatively short line on an early Saturday morning. Service was quick, and staff was kind. The coffee and croissant were pretty good. All in all, this is a cute coffee shop with tasty provisions, and would recommend giving it a try!

Yelp
Rude customer service - cashier is only half paying attention... barista is taking breaks between making each drink to play around on their phone and does not put any effort into actually being efficient. For being the only coffee shop in Beacon, was hoping it would be a more welcoming environment and enjoyable experience.

Ava S.

Yelp
I'm not usually one to post yelp reviews, but this experience had be genuinely so pissed off. I went to Bank Sq. this morning to get some coffee. I've lived in Beacon my whole life, so I know that they definitely have the best coffee in town. However, I've noticed that in recent years the customer service has gotten worse and worse. Today when I ordered, the barista gave me the dirtiest look I've ever gotten. And I understand, I work at a coffee shop myself. Sometimes you just get sick of making a certain drink, so I didn't think much of it and just payed as usual. I tipped and went to wait for my drink. When I got my drink, I immediately noticed the lack of ice. There were maybe 5 ice cubes in this drink. All of which melted almost immediately. So 4/5 stars. Great coffee, awful customer service- and don't get an Iced Chai, they don't like that apparently.

Yelp
There's a reason why Bank Sq. in Beacon, NY exists: lounge and sip on your hot beverage. And if you're looking to pitch up for the day and get some serious work done, you might be in luck. Though I'd ask about regulations first before you claim your nook, bar stool or table- on how long you can hang around because of COVID. After having a dull tasting Tex Mex meal right across the street, we wanted to snuggle up with something hot. Think rustic brick walls (some are painted over, some are not), mismatched leather sofa chairs, wooden coffee tables and comfy corners everywhere you look. Overhead menu lists a truck load of coffees, a Chai, two different Hot Cocoas, etc with a tray filled with Vegan and regular packaged pastries on the counter. My kid liked the Vegan Chocolate-Black Bean bar and wished she had another. But it was the "Ritual" in their Ritual Hot Cocoa that caught my attention made with 60% cocoa. My daughter got hers with Almond milk, I decided on regular and hubs liked his decaf cappuccino. Service was good and I can most definitely see myself coming back and curling up with another 'Ritual' hot cocoa. The only thing missing were the logs crackling in the fireplace.

Yelp
Super cozy cafe in the lovely town of Beacon. My boyfriend and I started the day here and we were highly impressed. They have a large menu of hot and iced beverages priced super reasonably in comparison with city prices that we're used to paying. We ordered the Chai Latte and Matcha Latte which were safe options. I would say that I like my Matcha Lattes a bit on the sweeter side but I believe the drink was made without adding any syrup or sugar in it. No biggie. Overall, we enjoyed our drinks and they were a must on a cold day exploring Beacon!

Ilsa N.

Yelp
Why does it have to be such a filthy dump? If you're not clean, you're not cool. And the baked goods are terrible.
google avatar

Max A.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Comfy couches. Plenty of room on weekdays. A truly great "third place."

James G.

Yelp
Sadly, the coffee was cold and did not taste very good. Bizarre for a cool coffee spot in a fun downtown.
google avatar

Helena L.

Yelp
After exploring Dia Beacon, this coffeehouse is a warm welcoming space with all types of seating to relax and get a warm drink on a cold day. My friend and I got a hot matcha latte and chai latte. Both tasted decent but both were a bit colder than we would have liked. While the ambiance was nice, the service was not the most welcoming and friendly but maybe it's just because it is after holidays. The price was reasonable at around $4 per drink. I probably would not go out of my way to come but was a convenient option. Drinks: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 3/5

Yelp
Excellent cafe in Beacon, just off Rt 9 at the start of Main Street. There's a parking lot in back as well as street parking. Lots of seating inside and outside, guitars and a pac man machine. Perfectly pulled espresso drinks and a good assortment of sweets and pastries (including vegan, gluten free). It's so quiet in here (no music, and the tv sound is off) that you can get work done or have a nice relaxed conversation with a friend. Restroom in the back is up two steps.
google avatar

CM R.

Yelp
Terrible chai at a high price. Tastes like milk. The baristas were nice but don't know anything about making chai tea. Kind of an embarrassment for a coffee establishment with only about ten things on the menu
google avatar

Amanda T.

Yelp
Best sugar free vanilla latte. Great place. Super chill. Friendly staff. Can't complain. Went back multiple times during my trip

Ben D.

Yelp
Best Coffee shop not just on Main Street but Beacon as a whole. Staff was very friendly and the place was lively. Banana bread was on point and my cappuccino was perfect. Could not recommend this joint enough.
google avatar

Vicky R.

Yelp
They are conveniently located at the end of Main Street closest to the train station. They have a nice menu of drinks to kick start your day. We decided to splurge and get a chocolate frappe. I'm not sure if there was supposed to be coffee flavor (like a mocha) but it tasted mostly just like a frozen chocolate smoothie. Refreshing and delicious nonetheless! They have lots of patio seating though the bees in this town are not shy about trying to steal some bites. They also had some indoor seating but customers were not wearing masks even if they were not actively drinking/eating so probably not the best idea to sit inside for too long. We just did take out, which is what I would recommend.
google avatar

Annie O.

Yelp
I love coming here before leaving town on the train! I have gotten many things here over the year, but recently have been enjoying the Matcha Latte. I love that it's not too sweet.

Raisin B.

Yelp
I love their Chai tea latte; Hot or Cold especially with this ~2023~ summer HEAT. Hopefully, their will be super duper $pecials on Lattes/drinks or even BOGO DEALS.. (buy 10) I like Bank Square Coffeehouse. Thank you!

Yelp
Your "I'm-way-better-than-starbucks" coffee shop in the heart of Beacon. Stumbled upon this little gem finding a cool coffee spot on a cold night. Definitely must come back to this little art gallery vibe, urban, hipstery, chill, intimate, coffee shop. The environment is very chill vibes only. Perfect spot to sip on a cup of hot/iced coffee & more. If you have a sweet tooth definitely try their black bean brownies. Had me fooled for regular brownie of how amazing it was! There are couches, bar chairs, high chairs, outdoor seating and even a fireplace outside. You can bring your guitar or just make some s'mores in their outside area in the back. Very cozy spot with hanging string lights for a chill night out. If you're looking for a little peace and quiet while sipping on coffee, bring your laptop or a book to read! Great spot to socialize or not. Staff is very down to earth. If you love their coffee so much that you want to take t home, you can! They sell bags of their delicious coffee. Definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
In the heart of Beacon I found *Bank Square Coffeehouse* towards the entrance of Main St. -Cute and cozy coffee shop -Ample seating inside along with outdoor patio -Souvenir logo items available for purchase -Soup, juice, and other items in the fridge -Service was eh-okay -Parking along street or side lot nearby -Excellent caramel latte... espresso delight!
google avatar

Yelp
Lots of types of coffee, iced coffee, some beers, coffee frappes, and wine smoothies. But in the summer the AC needs to be on. So its a nice cool place to relax. And the files where the couch is at the front door need to be taken care of. It was hard to enjoy yourself with a great coffee frappe while swatting flies.
google avatar

Joi B.

Yelp
Kyoto iced coffee is life! This is the smoothest, tastiest cold brew I've ever had and yes, I drink mine black. Now that the important stuff is out of the way, I'll go on to say that I love this place for having little vegan brownies and blondies as well as wine smoothies (I haven't tried the latter just yet). I appreciate their later hours (until 9 Sun-Thurs and until 10 on Fri/Sat) and chill throwback to coffeehouses of yore (if by yore, you, too, think of the late '90s), with mismatched chairs, art and tables, a comfy shabby appeal. I've been here on chillier days but that patio is calling my name to spend a warm evening very soon. With a wine smoothie, because that sounds divine.
google avatar

M B.

Yelp
I am obsessed with this place. I've been coming here for years. It's consistently amazing. Sometimes I will even crave it in the evening and will have to drive a whole 5 minutes to have it!! My favorite is a hot oat chai, pairs amazing with a bean brownie. It's my guilty pleasure. I even went a period having one everyday, I mean it's that good. So good that every single person that comes up to visit from the city, I bring them. They never disappoint!!!

Enoe A.

Yelp
Excelent vibe. Very nice people. I didn't have the time to try the food, but I will definitely will go back in the near future.
google avatar

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Located steps away from our Airbnb on Main Street. We popped in here to get some evening hot chocolates. They offer other items on the menu if coffee isn't your thing, as well as some bites. I went for a hot chocolate with oat milk and it was under $3, affordable compared to other places. It was super sweet as they just used Ghirardelli syrup. But still a nice treat to end our day in Hudson Valley. There's outdoor seating, but don't forget your mask!
google avatar

Edgar F.

Yelp
Awesome coffee shop. Came here after visiting Dia Beacon and my drink was bold and refreshing. The whole group was happy with their drinks. Not too many options on pastries but the drinks were great. Definitely recommend .
google avatar

Marianne D.

Yelp
If you're in town or have a pitstop from Metro North this is a 10 min walk and closest area to grab a refreshment, have a bathroom break, charge up your phone. The place itself is super quirky. Coffee is delicious and had interesting things on menu. Only downside for me was during visit they didn't have Vietnamese coffee available due to broken gear and its cash only below $10.

Madeline G.

Yelp
The line was through the door at 4PM. The line was slow going, and I saw they took orders via GrubHub, so I placed an order via GrubHub so I wouldn't have to wait in line. The total was almost $15 for two small drinks. A few minutes later my order was cancelled without explanation, so I can't say how the coffee actually tasted. I did however use their restrooms, which were dirty, out of toilet paper, and without a mirror - in addition to the flies buzzing around.
google avatar

Rina J.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a quick cup of coffee. I came with a group of friends, two of us ordered matcha lattes unsweetened and my other friend ordered a chai latte. I thoroughly enjoyed my unsweetened iced matcha latte. I really do not like when places over sweeten it, but Bank Square Coffehouse got it just right. I would stop by here for another cup of coffee when I'm back in town. TIP: there is a ten dollar credit card minimum, so either combine orders with your friends or bring cash. There is an ATM in the coffeehouse but they charged you a one dollar transaction fee.
google avatar

Shaji K.

Yelp
Saturday evening, wanted a chill space to rest after hopping around the shops on Main street. Surprisingly, not only was this coffee shop open later in the evening, but there weren't too many people inside. After grabbing a couch around the back (wonderful seating areas), quickly ordered a Latte ($3ish) and a Sangria ($7). Again, seating is quite comfortable and allows for groups big and small. Sangria wasn't too strong, but easy to sip and not overwhelmingly sweet. Coffee is strong and was able to keep me awake on my drive back home. Liked the coffee enough to bring some beans back home (they grind them for you) and am impressed by the flavor. Would definitely come back on my next visit.
google avatar

Emmy D.

Yelp
I used to love this place but now they have a very noisy fan that sounds like a race car in the ladies room A d they took the mirror off the wall of the bathroom with a notice" you are more than your looks!) I didn't come up here to prep for a photo shoot but what's wrong if I want to brush my hair after I spend $12.00 on a pAstry and coffee?
google avatar

Maree C.

Yelp
Love this hipster coffee shop! Right on Main Street and perfect location to get a pick me up coffee. They are nice and friendly. The coffee is strong and served with oatmilk. Every time I stopped by Beacon I would go here to grab a coffee to enjoy my day. Definitely highly recommend it!
google avatar

Cali S.

Yelp
Really cool vibe and delicious coffee! The service is quick and friendly too. Just a tad pricey, but overall would recommend! The iced latte and Kyoko iced coffee are really good!
google avatar

Megan B.

Yelp
Omg the danishes. The coffee is great too but the danishes here are out of this world. If you have ever thought to yourself I am not a Danish consuming pastry person: so yourself a favor and get a Danish here. You'll realize the lackluster danishes people have been passing off are the reason you hate it. The cheese is lift and sweet and he apricot jam glaze knocks it to another level.

Yelp
I was in town for a show and after a long morning of traveling, needed some caffeine so I found this place walking into downtown from the train station. It's your stereotypical hipster coffee shop that captures the art-centric aesthetic of Beacon. It's a good place if you need an hour or two to kill. I throughly enjoyed sitting out on their outdoor patio. What stood out the most to me about this coffee shop was the fact they brew traditional Vietnamese coffee with the metal filter and all! Major props for doing something besides the traditional latte/americano. I also decided to try one of their vegan peanut butter quinoa brownies, was very delectable.
