Manhattan’s Popular Mama’s Too Opens in the West Village This Week | Eater NY

"Opening this week at 19 Greenpoint Avenue near West Street, Banks will serve beer, wine, cheap shots, and focaccia sandwiches; owner Homer Murray says it’s meant to be a place for all of Greenpoint to congregate, and the bar takes over the space vacated by Grand Republic Cocktail Club." - Luke Fortney

Perfect little spot with a cute courtyard right off of Transmitter park. Good playlist and solid drinks. We had some sunboy spiked coconut waters and enjoyed the evening light out the front window.

What an awesome bar. Vibes are chill, bartenders are friendly (and generous), and trivia and karaoke and happy hour deals are great. Truly a gem and an amazing addition to Greenpoint. I make the trek from queens and it’s worth it everytime. Would recommend!!!

Amazing experience. They have created a unique and welcome atmosphere that has been missing for people wanting a relaxed fun place to bring friends. Too many places take themselves too seriously, and they want to be “exclusive” instead of inviting and welcoming. Absolutely would I recommend Banks Tavern, and I will be bringing everyone that visits the city here first!

If you’re looking for sunset vibes in greenpoint near the park this is the spot! Cracked some SUNBOYs with the crew and could have stayed all night!

Yelp
Walked in on a Sunday night and instantly felt like I'd time-traveled to a better, grimier era. Think sticky floors, walls that have seen decades of spilled whiskey and sweat, and a jukebox (or maybe just a speaker in the ceiling?) blasting everything from Dead Kennedys to Bad Brains. It's beautiful. They've got a $9 drink + shot special that absolutely rules. I mean, where else are you gonna get a decent pour and a shot without feeling like you're being robbed in this economy? It's the kind of place where the bartender doesn't give you a side eye for ordering well whiskey -- they expect it. Crowd's a mix of old-school punks, regulars who've clearly claimed their barstools, and the occasional curious wanderer who either instantly falls in love or leaves after 10 minutes. My kind of people. This isn't the place for craft cocktails or quiet conversation. It's for shouting over The Misfits, making new friends you'll forget the names of, and stumbling out smelling like beer and nostalgia. If you're into clean bathrooms and cocktail menus with herbs, move along. But if you want a real dive bar with attitude, heart, and cheap liquor, Bank Tavern is your new spot.
