Bannockburn Hotel - Wine Country Restaurant

One of the best restaurants in Bannockburn area I have ever tried. Love the warm pub atmosphere here. Service is warm-welcoming and fast. Most of the dishes I tried today are fantastic. Many vegetable options. Huge wine collection and good on-tap beer list. I and my mom ended up with an IPA which is very satisfying for a sunny afternoon 👍

If you are looking for a nice pub and/or to snack - this is the place. This was recommended to us and it was so good. When we arrived, we weren’t sure if we wanna stay or go somewhere but lovely Jules greeted us with such a warm welcome. She is seriously so lovely and the reason we’ve stayed for a drink and snack! The duck liver parfait and fish croquettes - WAS SO GOOD! Thank you, Jules for looking after us. I forgot to take a photo - that’s how good it was.

It was my mom’s absolute favorite during our NZ trip. So many veggie options available. Wine list is amazing+service is also sweet. Highly recommended.

Simply the best food we have had our entire trip. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the weather played its part which allowed us to sit outside too and enjoy the stunning views. Cannot recommend enough for a nice treat meal on your trip through this arrangement

Food and service was impeccable! Staffs guided is with wine pairings that will go nicely with the dishes that we ordered. I ended up ordering a small IPA beer. The lamb and polenta dish was exquisite! Overall a great experience!

Impeccable food, service and atmosphere. Genuinely welcoming and good humoured staff, super knowledgeable about the extensive wine list and food. Food was exceptional quality and the wine selection by the glass was epic. The space is tastefully modernised, while keeping with the heritage past. Epic experience, thank you!

We booked for lunch on Saturday and were really impressed by the service, location, decor and especially the wonderful, innovative food. Great wine list and quite good value too ( given the quality provided ). If only we didn't live in Sydney !!! Great place for a special get together or a more casual lunch. Spectacular views and impressive attention to every detail.

Great place! Best restaurant in my two weeks in New Zealand and no joke I visited quite a few well known and well regarded places. Perfectly seasoned hot and fresh. Spanish meatballs, provoleta and lamb shank were all amazing and delicious. Service also is top notch.

There are so many amazing places to go in Central Otago wine country, but put Bannockburn Hotel at the top of your list! For starters, the views are killer. We went on a beautiful, warm, sunny summer day just about as soon as they opened. We opted to sit outside for lunch to take in the views and some sunshine. I suppose it's a casual restaurant, but the food is outstanding and the presentation is top notch. The food can be a bit pricey given the tapas style sharable portions, but the thoughtful mix of flavors and fresh ingredients make the experience well worth the price. Naturally they have an extensive wine list boasting local wines and some from other well known international wine regions. It was a rose kind of day, and a glass of the local Terra Sancta rose was perfect. We ordered light - just 3 small plates for the two of us - but it was all delicious. The Baked Empanadas came with three types - beef & provolone, porkbelly & sweet corn puree, and mushroom, provolone cheese and raisins. The Goat Cheese Croquettes were served with local honey, greens and toasted almonds - a must order! I don't eat seafood, but my husband thoroughly enjoyed the Baja Fish Tacos. Take a break from vineyard touring and enjoy a lovely afternoon (or sunset!) at Bannockburn.

This is probably the best restaurant in all of New Zealand, hands down. I am surprised how this restaurant doesn't have a Michelin star yet. We ordered a tapas sharing menu for dinner, loved the prawns + cider tapas, and the tacos was amazing. I loved how they have designed the pineapples with a fish cod fillet and blend it with some simple sauces. The chorizos are from a nearby town, so some good local flavor blended in. We sat outside on the patio and had an amazing view of the mountains and vineyards. I would def come back here again if I am back in NZ. A must visit!

On a day trip out to wineries, we came here for lunch. I want to say it was recommended by the winery we were visiting, actually...whoever recommended it did a great job. More of a tapas/small plates place than a casual lunch spot, everything we had was great. Burrata and Camembert items might seem similar, but they came with different little accompaniments - one very savory with bacon and mushroom, and the other a little fresher, pine nuts and tomato. Different enough in cheese type and "dressing" that they didn't just feel like the same thing. Spanish meatballs had a really nice fresh tasking tomato sauce and were super tender, very good. And fish tacos had lightly fried white fish with a nice tangy relish. The four of us came away totally satisfied. The setting is pretty idyllic too - the dining room just...opens up on a grassy hill that rolls down in to a valley and the vineyards. With the doors open on a nice sunny day...just...a super pleasant lunch. Would love to try this place for dinner.

Went here for lunch on a no snow day. I can't recommend it highly enough. Great service and delicious food. Anna clearly knows her wine too and isn't shy to recommend something a little left field...and nails it! Views are incredible. Would love to come back on a summers day to enjoy a wine and good feed on the deck.

Great local pub with an amazing atmosphere and view from the beer garden over Mt Difficulty. The new owner Anna has really transformed the wine list so if you don't have time to visit the local vineyards come here and try a great variety of local wines. The sharing menu has a great selection. I tried the salt and pepper squid which comes with a great Asian salad. There are a few larger plates and the scotch fillet is the highlight!! My brother said it's in his top 5 steaks he has ever had. Can't wait to go back to this place and have a few handles in the sunshine.

Excellent stop for dinner, especially if you've missed the opening times at the few wineries with a restaurant. Extensive wine list mostly from the region (full sheet, 8pt font, both sides) with many single glass options, fabulous food menu ranging from burgers and fries to beef tartare, all beautifully prepared, and a cheerful, knowledgeable waitstaff to guide you if you're overwhelmed. You might even get a story or two about a Hollywood A-lister's wine preferences. Oh, and the view ain't too shabby.
