"An 150-year-old barn wood and 60-foot long Banyan roots — illuminated for extra ambiance —set the scene at the lobby restaurant in the Canopy, West Palm.  Fare is American and Latin fusion with such offerings as Chino Cuban fried rice with blue crab; piri piri swordfish; and char sui short ribs with smoked tomatillo. A brick oven turns out Nutella pizza for dessert, and there is live music Thursday through Saturday night." - Beth Landman

I first off would like to give a shoutout to our amazing team waitress, Hillary. She was so friendly and did such an amazing job attending to gluten allergies. Having said that, be careful because the menu isn’t updated so if it says gluten free be sure to double check with your server first. The food was delicious and so was the service and there is street parking available. It’s a very nice ambiance and it’s located in a Hilton hotel on the main floor. I recommend this spot.

Delicious breakfast. Espressos are on point as well. Staff is generally helpful. Portions are fairly big and can be shared. Prices are little high in my opinion however expected given the venue.

Stumbled upon this restaurant that is actually within the Canopy hotel. Food was absolutely amazing, see for yourself!

So I've stayed at the Canopy when it first opened in 2020. Although it was in the heart of the pandemic I would give it a 5 star. Today I visited Banter/Treehouse restaurant for the first time. I would have to say I was very disappointed in the service and food. The food looked amazing, but very bland. Drink was very watered down and not worth the price. They asked for a credit card before I ordered. I said I was paying cash, they still wanted one. Keep in mind I'm on a Rooftop 13 stories up only way out is through the restaurant and in the elevators or jump to my death over the balcony. Not a great policy at all. Other guests got silverware and napkins and I was handed plastic utensils. I had to ask for silverware. There was a bug in my food. I told the server he did not respond. Another guest told him and he came over and asked if I needed a box to go. I responded no and he then said sorry, but that was the down side of dinning outside. I asked for a manager to voice my complaints. He was very attentive and said he appreciated my input. As a manager I would have comp everything. I would like to give them another chance, but not sure that I will. Even if all went well the food was still not good.

Google
We came for happy hour and it was great! The options for apps is good and the warm cheesy jalapeño crab dip is amazing. They have a nice charcuterie plate and I’ve seen the same offerings for triple the price. Jennifer and Hillary are both awesome servers and very friendly. We like it enough we plan to have dinner here before we leave to go home. I would definitely recommend!

Google
Nice settings, decor and location, but Complete disappointment taste-wise. Both burger and steak requested well were burnt and tasted awful. Hot chocolate was watery and cold. 👎🏾The mimosa was the only thing that was made right on their entire menu.

You have to experience banter - if not for the amazing food, drinks and vibes, but for the unbelievable service from Fiorella and ceaser. In a busy Friday evening, they made sure to go OUT OF THEIR WAY and ABOVE AND BEYOND to ensure every step of our experience was 5 star. It felt like a Michelin star restaurant but within the friendly streets of downtown west palm beach. I consider myself very lucky to have dined with them!

Food was decent but it took a long time to come to our table and it was not busy so we didn’t understand why the long wait Our server was very nice and apologetic Beautiful atmosphere and ambiance we ate here because we we’re staying at the attached hotel

Yelp
Came here for brunch and was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We ordered several brunch appetizers and also Entrees and they were all very savory and the presentation was beautiful. I had a mimosa and a friend also had coffee and everyone loved their drinks. I like that after brunch you can go to the top treehouse bar and enjoy a nice rooftop view and their delicious cocktails. I'd come back! Food was great! The place is pretty and roomy. Our server was a bit slow with the food. The only thing I didn't like was the French toast, it was a bit dry.

Yelp
Beautiful decor and could be a fun place for a date. I came for happy hour and bingo after and was greeted by who I assume was the manager- I believe his name was Jose. He was incredibly kind and professional. He seated us for happy hour as the bar was full. Service was average as my water glass was rarely refilled and we had trouble ordering a second drink after our meal as we were staying after happy hour to play bingo. I want sure who our server was as this place appeared short staff on a night they knew they were hosting an event and a large reservation. The wait staff could've had better hospitality. This hotel does a lot of events and I want to check out more, but Good As Gold hosted Bingo and they do some of the best events around South Florida. It also took forever for someone to take our dirty plates from the table as the tables are small and we ordered four items from the happy hour menu to share. The mushroom truffle flatbread is more like a regular pizza but is so good. There's a sweet honey taste with the truffle and cheese that really goes well together. I may come back for happy hour again although the dynamic for customers is way older than I and I enjoy being in a mix.

Yelp
The food here is really, really good. Believe it or not, they had the best fried rice we have ever had, even in a high end Chinese restaurant! So good. I had the prosciutto flatbread with balsamic onions, cranberry goat cheese parm cheese and fresh arugula, delicious! Jennifer, our bartender was very good at mixing hubby's Long Island ice tea. A large group of young people from a close by apartment building came in to celebrate a birthday. Jennifer greeted each one by name. The service was perfect, the ambiance was perfect, the floor to ceiling windows were perfect watching passersby getting whipped by the pelting rain and wind. I highly recommend Banter!

Yelp
Service is very slow. Had to ask for drink refills every time. Disappointing. Will not be back.

Yelp
This place is amazing we stayed for a trip and ate here everyday. Absolutely blown away at the quality and flavor of the food. The prices are not bad for the actual food you get. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Genesis was super friendly and supplied great customer service. Fast and efficient! Would highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Such a great time with Hillary! Wonderful server! I will be back. I've never visited downtown West Palm Beach and it has captivated me! This Canopy Hotel is fabulous.

Yelp
No vegan options. Waited over 90 minutes for food. Our waiter came to apologize for the wait and brought us fresh drinks... which we were charged for. Our table was wobbly and our drinks spilled immediately. I asked our waiter for help and he handed me napkins. After cleaning up our table myself and mopping up at least $5 of my $15 drink, our waiter crawled under our table and attempted to stuff napkins under the table leg. The drink was decent and my arugula with mushrooms (not on the menu) was good but my boyfriend wasn't impressed with the 4 mushroom ravioli he recieved as a main course . Honestly, avoid this spot. Cute atmosphere but everything else here is just awful.

Yelp
Tremendous happy hour with the best bartenders in W Palm ! Jennifer and Hillary are a laugh a minute and make everyone feel welcome. Happy hour prices are also the best !

Yelp
We love Banter for it's ambiance, with the lovely atrium, open air feeling, and good food, made to order. We were not guests of the Hilton this time, but were treated like royalty at this hotel restaurant. We wanted a full breakfast, and got it. I enjoyed a choose your own omelet of veggies and bacon, served with toast and a huge bowl of fresh fruit, with an option of potatoes. Hubby had his "tell-them-how-to-make-it Hobo skillet," of over-easy eggs, cheese, bacon, and potatoes, which was not on the menu. They happily accommodated. Coffee was served in a pot for refills, and also a bottle of purified water. Michelle, our server, could not have been sweeter or more competent. We shared some Italy stories, and generally felt very welcomed. All in all a very enjoyable breakfast.

Yelp
WoW! The best hotel bar I've been to in a very long time. The bartenders Hillary and Jenn are so much fun! It's nice being waited on by professionals who have knowledge of coctails and spirits. Hillary answered all of my questions about the menu, and the food came out hot and in a timely mannor. My swordfish was cooked perfectly. I would give this place 6 STARS based on the service alone. I highly recommend Banter if you're in the West Palm Beach area.

Yelp
What a great place to eat and hang! Relaxed atmosphere with light music in the background allowing for conversation. Bar servers Hillary and Jennifer are the best; both personal and fun! They really make the time enjoyable. Love love the calamari, the actual best anywhere and I order it everywhere. Tuna poke, kale and brussels cesar salad, mushroom ravioli and the lobster Mac and cheese are just examples of really good tasting treats. Do enjoy and be sure to say hi to Jen and Hillary!

Michael J.

Yelp
Best bar in PB for happy hour. Food is excellent! Service is even better. Jennifer and Hillary are a great team. Always a great experience. My only complaint would be the happy hour menu needs hot wings.

Christina C.

Yelp
Service was not very good. Nice atmosphere. I ordered the Chino Cubano fried rice. It was just ok - although, it was not cooked as ordered. The menu said the egg is "sunny" so I asked for it to be cooked all the way, but it still came out sunny side up. Server never came to check on me to see if everything was ok. Also, I would suggest the menu adds all items that are part of the dish. For example, it included onions, carrots, & peas - none of which the menu mentioned. If I return, it would only be for drinks and maybe appetizers. Also, gratuity was included although my check was just for myself. There was no party of 6 or more. The menu states gratuity is included for parties of 6 or more. My check should not have included gratuity!

Yelp
I just left the restaurant with a smile on my face. Service was excellent and the food was great. I will definitely visit again and will recommend to all my friends and colleagues x

Yelp
I checked the website ahead of going- valet is listed as $8 and the restaurant hours for Sunday brunch as 11-3. I pulled up, and valet is $16. Not a big deal, but how hard is it to update the website? I walk into the Canopy atrium at 1:00 and see my friends, but the entrance to Banter is roped off- not particularly inviting. I walk around the side to join the group, and notice a pile of dirt on the floor- also not particularly inviting or clean. When ordering, I requested an iced tea. The waitress told me they didn't have an iced tea. Wait, there's a full bar but no iced tea? The restaurant was well below 50% capacity and it took 40 minutes for us to get our food. I understand we were a large group, but 4 orders of French Toast arrived cold. While we were eating, a staff member began mopping the restaurant. Half of the table had their plates cleared while the other half were still eating- this was partially a result of the food coming out at staggered time despite all of us ordering at once. One member of our party had to wait well after we were all served to get his meal. The lack of hospitality and professionalism was noticed by several members of our party. Our reservation was at 1, well within the posted brunch hours, but it felt like we were a major imposition (while we were the only table there from 2-3). Our group submitted 1 credit card for payment and the payment process still took nearly 30 minutes. During this time, the waitress and the bartender chatted in a now empty restaurant while the phone at the bar rang incessantly. Upon leaving, the pile of dirt in the restaurant/atrium still remained. The valet team tried to get me to pay a second time and, despite there being half a dozen valet employees available, none asked for my ticket. It took 20 minutes to get my car even though there appeared to be plenty of staff and no one else submitted their ticket while I waited. Overall, it felt like a lot of time has gone into the appearance of the restaurant but not nearly as much attention has been paid to the actual operation.

Yelp
Atmosphere very cool. Happy hour menu confusing. Just tell us or give us the HH menu. Food was good, but we ordered the margarita flat bread with fig balsamic drizzle, only no drizzle on ours. Ordered truffle fries for $9, great price right? Only when bill came it said $10? I know, it's only a buck but.. when we questioned it she said it's because they're from the regular menu. I said I've pulled up the menu on line at it says $9. She went to check, told us we were correct. New bill came, still said $10. Also 20% gratuity added. No need to return.

Yelp
Had trouble on day one with this poorly managed hotel restaurant. Sign upon entry said please wait to be seated. 10-12 times in 10 minutes the help just looks at me. Eventually a employee asked me if I needed help? Breakfast please I said. She looked at me like I was nuts. "It's open seating" and when I pointed to the sign she walked away. Same woman gave me dirty look next day and the next day. I continued to eat there tipping 30% since my waitress was great and took care of me. Food was good. The fourth day I walked pasted the sign to eat and was stopped by an employee and told to wait for 10 minutes. That was it for me. Especially since I rely on my hotel when I travel to feed me. BTW, they don't serve lunch. Big hotel and you can't eat lunch there. I am a loyal customer and tip housekeepers and all staff abundantly. Some hotels don't deserve that. Won't stay at Canopy Hotels anymore. I am finding all the lousy Hilton Properties. Time to go back to Marriot !

Yelp
Banter is a nice restaurant that is part of the Canopy Hotel in downtown West Palm. We went for Happy Hour on a Friday night and the place had a singer with guitar playing live music, not too loud. For Happy Hour you can only sit at the bar, so we sat at the bar and began to order a nice assortment of their Happy Hour fare. We started with the BBB flatbread, which was average at best. We probably wouldn't order that one again. We also got the Thai Calamari which at $5 for the plate, was really a good deal. But the highlight of the happy hour menu was the $5 crispy Chicken a la brava. It was their take on a chicken wing and it was great. When we go back, we will definitely order more than one of these. We then ordered the Pork Chop from the regular menu because it looked so good on their Instagram feed. The taste and presentation were great, but I believe the pork chop was deep fried or something so it was really hard to eat. Almost like Chicharron consistency. Also, it's like $34 so we would definitely not order this one again. The place is really beautiful, drinks are good, happy hour menu is great...only let down was that pork chop. Also be careful, gratuity is included in the check but no one says anything and it's only printed on the customer copy, not the merchant copy.

Yelp
I really thought I wouldn't like Banter Restaurant - mainly because it's in a business Hilton Hotel restaurant and especially since Banter is just an extension of the lobby and the ambiance follows. It's also in a dreaded atrium space. The food: My lobster mac and cheese was a little too cheesy but good and our great waiter Jose made sure it came without truffle oil. A Grouper Tempura appetizer, which was kind of like a corn dog was also good - though I took off most of the coating. Short Ribs were excellent and I was really surprised how tender and flavorful it was. Basically all the food was good to excellent. The only negative issue is - accessing the hotel itself can be a little difficult and strange because the street is closed. I will still be back though because of the great service, fair prices and good food.

Yelp
The food is delicious! The chef make phenomenal food every single time! It's a beautiful environment and the drink are also just as good. I will definitely be coming back for more!

Devin V.

Yelp
I can't say enough about this place. The atmosphere, the energy, the aesthetic. They recently just opened for dinner and have some of the most amazing food and drinks in town! If you want a date night spot this is where you need to be! Plus, after dinner you can head up to the 13th floor and enjoy a drink in the Treehouse what a stunning experience!!

Charles S.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE banter. Open to everyone, not just hotel guests! One of the best happy hours around and ALL the cocktails are amazing. The flat breads are delicious too! Best part was that the bar tenders were so amazing. Alexis and Mariel were so great, give the place a great vibe, and make great drinks! Highly recommend

Mark H.

Yelp
Food was so flavorful and diverse The service by Gabby Yada and Cody was the best we had on our trip Highly recommend eating here

Olivia E.

Yelp
Best happy hour! We had the grouper dogs with sriracha ailo and calamari with miso aioli which were so delicious. Also highly recommend "The Campfire" cocktail!

Debbie P.

Yelp
The food is good but the dinner menu is very limited. Please expand your offerings. I was here 4 days and went out each night when I would have preferred eating in when I was working. Thanks.

Anna T.

Yelp
Great hotel but what made it the best experience was the Manager for Banter and Treehouse, Manny. Manny is someone who truly loves the hotel, its restaurants, and what he does overall. He went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and looked out for during my stay. He does not limit where he can help; whether he is bringing you a towel at the pool, finding you a spot to sit, giving recommendations for the area, or helping get you a beverage; he delivered first-class treatment. He leads by example and it was not unnoticed. I wish I could give this review a million stars because of the experience Manny created for me and his incredible customer service. I will definitely be back!

Dawn K.

Yelp
Awesome service and super friendly! Alexis made me feel very welcome! The grapefruit gin cocktail with rosemary was super tasty!

Katie P.

Yelp
Food is really delicious - Brussels sprouts are a must! Yada took care of us both days, going above and beyond when we arrived after a late night flight. Highly recommend the service, ambiance and food. Oh, and the gin rosemary cocktail

Juan G.

Yelp
This place has some great food and a great vibe. Great place to come with friends to hang out. Their Old Fashion is a must have!
