This cocktail bar was awesome! The bartenders were very knowledgeable and able to answer questions, and suggested great cocktail options. The decor and vibe is fantastic!

Love this place. Spend a few hours with my partner relaxing while having a drink. We fell in love with the atmosphere. The bartender, Trent, was awesome and very attentive! We will be back when we are in town again!

My brother and I visited Banter on one of my recent trips to Wilmington. It was early with only a few other patrons. The bartender was attentive and patient. The custom made beverage specials and specialties were interesting and delightful. What’s more, they’re beautifully presented. The historical plaque on the building helps patrons understand its significance. Quirky, small conversation groupings dot the different rooms. There is an outdoor courtyard which perhaps accommodates smokers, however we didn’t investigate that prospect. We did note that it might be difficult to navigate the courtyard’s uneven surface if one was physically unstable due physical or chemical influences. ;-) The only reason I didn’t give it five stars was that the drink prices may be off-putting to those on a budget. All in all, a nice vibe for an early evening meet-up.

This was a cool place and the drinks were pretty good, but unfortunately the experience was marred by service. The bartender the night I was there was pretty stuck up and judgmental when I tried to sub something in a drink. Just stinks because the place itself was really cool! Probably wouldn’t go back, unfortunately, based on this experience. Just not worth it when you’re trying to have a fun night and someone treats you that way.

The perfect place to philosophize with people over the plight of plants. Sorry… < Turns AI off> … super chill place with great vibe. Many rooms to find your zone, friendly people, affordable too. What’s not to like! Pretty much the opposite of any high end, $25 per drink sort of place.

What a neat little bar!! The inside decor caught our eye as we were walking by, so we felt compelled to stop in and check it out. Just wow! Perfect place to take pictures + the bartender was very friendly and shared with us the hours and some other cool information. We checked out everywhere in the back through to the bathrooms + outdoor area and they really went all out with this unique place. While we weren't able to have a drink, as we were on our way out of town for the day, we will make sure to stop back when we next get a chance!

We had our engagement party at Banter last fall. The whole experience was incredible. Amy, Glenn and Bailey were amazing and so kind to us. The venue was perfect, with a gorgeous outdoor area and plenty of space for our party. They generously let us bring in catering and we could not have asked for a better time. Drinks were phenomenal, service was stellar, and we have been and will continue to go back many more times.

Spent a lovely weekend visiting an old friend in Wilmington and I visited the bar with him. I loved the young bartender lady who made our cocktails that Friday night. We had a damn good time and the service and cocktails were great. I can't wait to go back here my next visit to Wilmington!

If I could give Banter 10 out of 5 stars I would. My boyfriend and I were in town for the holiday weekend and we spent several hours just enjoying drinks and relaxing. The bartender, Trent, was very attentive and a great bartender. We will definitely be back when we are in town. If you are looking for a small, relaxing, and cozy place this is absolutely for you!

The beautiful cocktail bar is a must a must visit. With delicious craft cocktails, wonderful ambiance and location banter is a must visit in wilmington My wife and Discovered this place on accident as we were walking by. It almost looked closed when we walked by, however it is in the lowest level of a historic building. The bartenders were wonderful and had great reccomendations. The 2 bartenders had created several cocktails that were on the menue. Im not sure the name of the cocktail the bartender made for me but it was delicions smooth and balanced. This is a must try

I'm a newer parent and my partner and I went far too long without a date night. When we finally got a sitter and were ready for a romantic night, I asked some in-the-know friends where to get a cocktail and Banter was top of their list. It was somewhere I'd been eyeing for a while, so I was excited, and I knew the space from its prior business. When we walked in, the bar at the entry was beautiful. The options were a bit confusing - there were menus on the bar but specials on the wall so it was a lot to take in. However, I'm pretty sure it would be impossible to go wrong. We each ordered a cocktail and walked toward the back. There were several rooms to scope out and the lighting and furniture truly was romantic and cozy. The highlight for us was all the way to the back. Once we stepped outside it was like being transported to a little European cafe. We enjoyed our cocktails there and promised ourselves we'd be back soon. We went back again last week and learned that on Thursdays they have a special - if you order one of a few select cocktails, you get a surprise. Score! We each ordered one of those cocktails. Toward the back there was a chest of drawers (like 30 or so of them), each taped shut. We selected a drawer, tore off the tape, and each got a surprise. My partner got a hat and I got two moonpies - can't say we needed either of those things, but I do love a good surprise! Again, we sat out back and sipped our tasty drinks while listening to the pretty great music they were playing. It's the kind of place I'd feel comfortable going to by myself, with girl friends, or on a date. Can't wait to go back.

I love how urban looking it looks inside with the unfinished brick walls. I love the corner where the steel chairs are hanging on the wall, reminds me of Spain. I also liked that the music wasn't that loud so I could actually have a conversation without having to yell. There is not much seating inside but there is outdoor seating in the back and in the front. It didn't look like there was any street parking so we parked at the Market Street parking garage. It used to offer the first 90 minutes for free, but now it's only the first 30 minutes for free. The prices are not that expensive, the first hour is a dollar. My partner got the banter bullet, and I got a mocktail they made on a whim. My partner wasn't that impressed with the banter bullet but I didn't think it was that bad. You can definitely taste the bourbon. Mocktail was good, a sweet, grapefruit flavor. This is a nice chill spot to hang out for couples or friends.

Love The Banter, one of the newest bars in Wilmington, and having a conversation with one of the owners of where the name of the bar was derived from and the bunny symbol of the bar. Glen & Amy own this unique & fascinating bar with dark wood & antique furniture with a large stone fireplace you would expect in an English cottage. The cocktails are eclectic and exotic to the taste buds. I loved my savory salt & pepper martini and the bar conversations. Even on a dead night for bars, the night life in Banter got crowded quick. Definitely a go see bar in Wilmington especially for a whimsical & delicious cocktail and conversation. Looking forward to visiting this place again!

Love the new addition to Wilmington! Nice and comfortable for chilling with friends and family. The staff are amazing and the drinks are delicious. I totally recommend.

The Place is wonderful except for the bartender Lindsey. Bad Attitude, rude, and likes to make a scene to embarrass the customer. Several other customers also complained outside of her unprofessional behavior.

It's beautiful, quiet, and atmospheric. A great place for grownups to get drinks. It's quiet enough to talk and has lots of different rooms in addition to the warm front bar. Our bartender was friendly and efficient. Lovely place with a historic feel!

Only one bartender there is good. Trent. Everyone else. Sucks. Found a parking space right in front of banter today. One of the workers was trying to hold the spot by standing in the space. As we all know. You can't do that. So I took the spot. And three of the workers berated me and threatened to damage my car. One was a tall skinny white dude with a. Pony tail. The other two females. Nasty attitudes here. I'm sorry but if you want a parking spot. Prepare and come to work earlier like everyone else has to do. This world doesn't give special treatment.

Cool place to hang out and have a great cocktail. Loads of atmosphere and wonderful service. We had a great time.

A great addition to Wilmington. Went Saturday and Sunday for day drinking. Once with friends, once solo, and enjoyed both visits. Cheers!
