Banyan Restaurant

Me and my boyfriend went here for a dinner for our anniversary yesterday and it was a culinary highlight of our trip. We came there for the view and left only talking about the food. It was delicious to the point where I couldn’t believe they did not obtain a Michelin star yet. The service was also amazing, the second my glass was empty the service was at the table to refill it. We had also a cocktail after a dinner, worth every penny. Thank you again for this experience.

The service here is excellent — the staff is professional, attentive, and very welcoming. The food was outstanding, but what truly makes this place unforgettable is the breathtaking view of the entire city from every angle. It’s absolutely worth it, even if you just stop by the bar for a drink while enjoying the scenery.

My wife and I had dinner at this upscale restaurant. The food and service were superb. There is a nice view of the bridge and mosque from here, but be aware this restaurant is expensive.

The place is gorgeous, with fabulous views of Istanbul, food and drinks are delicious. The reason why I am giving 3 stars is that I was cheated by the waiter who charged me 70$ extra by adding stuff to my bill that I didn’t order. I trusted by paying, without checking the bill. By the time I realized in the morning, I was off to airport. Çok ayıplar olsun…

We enjoyed our lunch very much here. The spectacular view of The Bosphorus - where continents meet and civilisations converse. From here, we indulge in the fine dining watching the boats sail by. The best dish I want to compliment is the dessert photographed here. It is a wonderful experience and privilege to share a meal here with friends and partners. We look forward to our return.

A delightful place. Food,service and the view are amazing. An amazing bar with fantastic cocktails and the fusion blend of Asian and Turkish food is magical.

I’ve been to many restaurants in different cities around the world, but the experience I had here truly felt special. Even though we didn’t have a reservation, we were welcomed with such kindness, sincerity, and professionalism. Stephanie’s energy lifted our mood the moment we walked in, and we ended up spending the evening at the restaurant even though we had only planned to take a look. Her sincerity goes far beyond professionalism. The ambiance was elegant, and the view was stunning. The food was delicious — everything felt like it had its own soul and meaning. The cocktails were a whole experience on their own — perfectly balanced in flavor and beautifully presented. The service was overall flawless; the team was friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do.

Gorgeous spot in Istanbul. Breathtaking view from the bar on Bosphorus Bridge and the beautiful mosque, both of them nicely illuminated at night. Excellent food, the best Sushi in a 1000 Miles radius, and perfect beef cooked to the point. This is the place to be!

Great food and the service was good; great views of the Bosphorus as well. Only issue was the music was too loud, hard to have a conversation with others in our party. But great experience overall.

For the best view in Ortakoy, come to Banyan. Came here in November and discovered Banyan by accident, so happy I came in. The view is absolutely stunning. The food is Asian/Turkish fusion and on the pricier side but totally worth it for the view. The complimentary bread and cheese spread is to die for as were the curry beef samosas. Have a cocktail and some bites and watch the beautiful sun set. Highly recommended!

This place is a SCAM. DO NOT GO HERE. It is January 1st today. I was compelled to write this review because of how badly we were treated last night on New Years!! We chose this so called "Michelin star" restaurant for NYE. We came from USA. We have reservation email from weeks prior to this day explaining that they charge $250 at first (which we paid through our credit card via email) and that they accept the remaining $250 at the restaurant. No problem we were more than happy to do that. Then comes New Year's Eve. Food was OK nothing special for a Michelin start restaurant. Pretty bland and tasteless. Drinks were average. Again nothing special. We were at this place for 3+ hours but once New Years hit ( at about 12:05am). The waiter came to us saying we have to pay the remaining $250 plus 60 lira for service charge. We happily paid with credit card. Once that went through. The waiter said we have to pay additional service charge of 1200 lira ($64) to which we said go ahead and charge our card. We were trying to enjoy New Years and fireworks so we didn't really pay attention on the money. We told him whatever the amount is please charge our card. To which he said no for that part you have to pay in CASH only. We didn't have full amount in cash so we told him please just charge the card and he was very adamant on cash only. We noticed another waiter also doing this to another foreigner next to us. So we asked to speak to the manager. We asked if this information about paying 1200 lira in cash only was included in our confirmation email? To which he said no it was not but you have to pay in cash only. We told him we don't have enough cash can you show me to an ATM and we will bring it to which they said they don't know and demanded that we pay at that minute. Something just felt fishy. After much argument they finally agreed to charge our card for the additional 1200 lira service charge. The manager (his name started with Hal... something) said we want cash because then we don't have to pay taxes to the government?!? Wow. The next day we realized our card was only charged for $250 plus 60 lira for service charge which was mentioned in the confirmation email but the 1200 lira he pretended to charge wasn't on because that was a made up amount they wanted to pocket. They scam foreigners for additional money in cash only so they can no untraced and pocket the money for themselves. They ruined our New Years over this scam. Please do not go here. You can even search 'cash' in their reviews on TripAdvisor and you'll see reviews from 2019 and 2018 speaking of the same experience we had. So this tells us that they have been scamming people for years but poor customer don't even realize that they are being scammed by this mediocre Michelin star restaurant since no high end restaurant would do such thing. So disappointed. I will be reporting their business to consumer fraud on USA.gov website to make sure they don't do that to other people.

Scam!! DO NOT GO HERE. Literally the worst New Years ever. I have never left a negative review in my life but this experience was the limit. We came from California, USA to Istanbul and picked this place for NYE. Everything was going good until midnight hit and New Years came. At literally 12:03 am the waiter came to us saying "you need to pay the half amount now." No problem my husband gave him the credit card. The waiter ran the credit card 3x and said it's not working. Surprisingly, the same thing happened to the table next to us and the one next to them. So many arguments happening left and right post midnight. They also said to them their card declined as well. Then the waiter told us and the table next to us that they only accept cash for the remaining amount. We asked why this info was not included in the confirmation email? To which they had nothing to say. We went to the manager and he also said we only accept cash for the remaining 50% of the payment. We also asked him why this info not included in the email? We didn't have enough cash but we're willing to pay whatever amount it was with card to which they said no. After argument with them they confessed that they don't accept card is because they have to pay tax to the government. Are you kidding me???! they ruined our New Years for that??! Like even if that is the case let us know beforehand so we come prepared. Why at 12:03am into New Years?! We usually go to different countries for NYE, last year in Dubai, the year before Paris, the year before Singapore, and never had to deal with this kind of situation. Literally worst way to start the New Years over small amount of money. We were willing to pay more with credit card but nooo they only wanted cash so they could pocket some extra money from us. SCAM and greedy people at Banyan. Save your money and don't come here especially for NYE. food was barely average. Go to the streets if Istanbul and you'll find better food. The whole "Michelin Star" is a scam! How can you be Michelin and lie about accepting credit card? After all that argument they said that they'll accept the card and the machine worked the very first time when they swiped our credit card. Hmmm not suspicious at all. They did all this for literally $64 USD. We were willing to give them even more than that amount with credit card. So that says a lot. On that note, DO NOT GO HERE. And note to management : WRITE IN YOUR CONFIRMATION EMAIL what you are telling people here in person. I would rather pay the whole amount upfront when booking to avoid this nonsense. do not ruin peoples New Years over money. Not worth it. Do better or else no one would want to come.

Nice setting. Great view. Came here cause we read about it on TA. To sum it all up. I had lamb sparibs for starters. Ok taste, it was said to be spicy. Not so much. Ate beef and noodles as a main. A bit boring and bland for me. Tasted my bf's spareribs and risotto which was more exciting. Ok wine but on the expensive side. Also drinks at 50 liras is just ludacris. More than my main!! Plus for location/view and service. Minus cause of ludacris prices on cocktails.

It's just ok. Food was once delicious but after changing the main chafe whole menu has been changed. Basically, everything is spicy ! Not much variety for vegetarians or people with allergies. View is great and atmosphere is nice as well. Be aware, they include tip on the bill.

Best fusion restaurant in Istanbul. I would suggest everyone to visit this place, even for a simple drink. The atmosphere is worth it.

Lovely roof restaurant with Bosphorus view, you need to make reservation in advance, there maybe delay in service.

If I lived in this area, I would come here every single week at least!!! What a great time we had here!! We ate at the bar at night and the view is gorgeous!!! So romantic! We had dumplings, shrimp appetizers and had the filet mignon entree - wow - exceptional! I loved our time in Istanbul - you will be very happy dinning at this beautiful establishment!!

I made a reservation for 15 ppl but I ended up with a table for 9 with an extension that is not even close to it! I had to ask several time until I got that table where I should've been seated in the first place. The food was good. The drinks were ok but still overpriced. The view is absolutely stunning.

For those who want to have good Asian food and get a real feel for beautiful Bosphorus Bridge and Maiden's Tower at the same time, Banyan's location is perfectly ideal for that. It is also famous for its healthy dishes and sauces since they don't contain any preservative substances. As their motto is 'Food for the soul', the dishes are delicately prepared. The cocktails are highly recommended as well.

nice view,tasty foods and lovely ambience.specially you need to try tirtil roll ,its the best sushi that i ever ate. you can go for a special night with your partner...also there is a bar in the restaurant for drink something in front of the bosphorous. expensive but recommended

This bar and restaurant has, in my opinion, the best view on the Ortaköy waterfront of the Bosphorus, the Bosphorus Bridge, the beautiful Ortaköy Mosque (Büyük Mecidiye Camii), the lights on the Asian side and the strait traffic. Sunset is simply stunning and as the night comes so do the city, bridge and boat lights adding a magical quality to the scene as far as the eye can see. The bar is open to the air providing an unparalleled experience of being over the water and close to the sights and lights (It also attracts smokers. So beware if you don't like cigarette or cigar smoke.) The restaurant has glass walls on three sides, allowing one to dine in climate-controlled comfort while enjoying the incredible views and excellent Thai fusion cuisine. The restaurant is smoke-free. This is a fun, romantic spot, and absolutely not to be missed on any visit to Istanbul. It's pricey, but well worth it.
