Banyan Tree Bangkok

"Why book? This five-star, all-suite hotel in Bangkok's Sathorn/Silom district offers a sleek executive lounge for business travelers, a sumptuous spa for vacationers, and a spectacular rooftop bar with 360-degree views of Bangkok for everyone in between.Set the scene With some of the largest rooms in Bangkok, the hotel attracts travelers that appreciate the finer things in life. Upon check-in, we observed lovey-faced honeymooners canoodling in the lounges, business executives in dark, tailored suits making Very Important Calls in the lobby, and an enormous Indian family with more luggage than a baggage claim blocking the elevators. While there are few amenities for babies and toddlers, we did notice a few well-heeled families traveling with children in grade school. The backstory Owned by Singaporean multinational hospitality brand Banyan Tree Holdings Limited, the high-rise hotel opened in 2002. Though some of the design choices feel a little dated now (the pinwheel carpeting designed to mask stains, for example), it’s timelessly chic from a business traveler’s POV. Nothing feels particularly worse for the wear, and some rooms—like the two-bedroom suites—have been recently renovated. The rooms Bigger than some New York City apartments, the guest suites range from 474 square feet for an Oasis Retreat room with one king bed up to 1,540 square feet for a two-bedroom suite designed to accommodate families or friends. Suites include a large desk for working remotely and long, dramatic settees; spacious bathrooms with rainfall showers, deep soaking tubs, double vanities, and Japanese-style toilets; and kitchenettes with minibars and espresso machines. Depending on what you book, guests may be treated to free-flowing beer and evening canapés in the Club Lounge, as well as limited laundering and garment-pressing services. While all rooms include incense sticks and candle-lit diffusers, there’s also a special Spa Sanctuary Retreat with unlimited in-suite spa services, including as many 60- and 90-minute massages as a guest can handle. The design of all rooms, from the smallest single to the Presidential Suite, are clean and minimalist with a smooth, masculine edge (think dark leather furnishings, padded wall panels, and dagger-like objets d'art that wouldn’t look out of place in a weapons museum). Rates start at $150 per night.Food and drink Decadent seafood platters and grilled steak are the things to order at Banyan Tree Bangkok’s rooftop restaurant Vertigo. (There are vegetarian options, too, including a three-course set.) If you just want a drink, that’s perfectly fine too: Moon Bar, located on the 61st floor, serves some Thai-inspired cocktails (try the purple Khor lik Nung featuring Saneha Thai gin, Asian vermouth, pineapple-honey shrub, and lime). Given the view, it’s no wonder this is a hit with the Instagram and TikTok set; the night we visited, we spotted Australian, French, Spanish, Slovak, and Korean tourists all taking selfies with the glittering city as their backdrop. The spa Banyan Tree as a company is known for its exceptional spas and this one is no different. From the crystalline bamboo art installation to the opulent Thai textiles smoothed across padded massage beds, it spares no attention to detail. Most treatments take their cues from Thai, Chinese, Indonesia, and Indian traditions and include a calming foot bath and herbal refreshments. If you’re not sure where to begin, consider a muscle-melting Thai massage followed by a refreshing kaffir lime body scrub. The neighborhood/area It’s located in the Sathon/Silom neighborhood, a central business district with numerous embassies, schools, office buildings, hotels, and restaurants. It’s walkable to sprawling Lumpini Park, one of the largest and best manicured green spaces in Bangkok, and a reasonable tuk-tuk ride away from the Grand Palace, Temple of the Emerald Buddha, and other big tourist draws. Just under 22 miles from Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK), bank on a taxi ride taking anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes. The service Hotel is attentive without being overbearing, always two steps ahead in terms of anticipating what guests want or need. This is particularly true of the hushed and reverent service we experienced in the 19th-floor Executive Lounge, a lovely respite from the chaos in the streets below. From cold towels and lemongrass tea upon arrival to breakfast bags packed up and ready to go for guests with red-eye flights, the workers make every guest feel like the King of Siam. Accessibility The hotel offers handicap-accessible rooms, as well as ramps and elevators in every public space except for the Saffron Sky Garden and Vertigo rooftop. Anything left to mention? Though you may think clubby bars are not for you, Banyan’s rooftop boîte is a must-see. Yes, the cocktails are pricey by Bangkok standards. Yes, you will feel underdressed when you get an eyeful of the beautiful people who flock here. But the phenomenal 360-degree views of the city make it all worth it." - Ashlea Halpern

We stayed at the Banyan Tree Bangkok on our first visit to Thailand and were very pleased with our experience. Our Club Level room was comfortable and well appointed, with access to complimentary breakfast and an evening happy hour, both offering an excellent selection of food and Thai‑inspired cocktails. Service throughout the hotel was consistently excellent. Particular thanks go to Akkachai and his team, who made us feel genuinely welcome. The location was also convenient, with the Skytrain and Metro just a short walk away. We also enjoyed dinner at Saffron Grill on the 53rd floor, where the views over the city were outstanding. The food was flavourful, generous, and pleasantly spicy, and Korn provided friendly, attentive service. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would happily recommend the Banyan Tree Bangkok.

VERTIGO Rooftop Bar and Restaurant: We had an absolutely amazing experience at Vertigo Rooftop Bar and Restaurant. Our 3 adult kids joined us for an unbelievable evening of fabulous mocktails, food and views. This was our second night here dining under the stars and the wait and host staff exceeded our expectations with exceptional service from start to finish. A shout out to “Oliver” our waiter who took complete care of us and we were so appreciative of his professionalism and mannerisms. The ambiance was very romantic with spacing between each course was perfectly timed. My seabass was elegantly presented and was cooked just right. We all enjoyed our dinner and we were completely wowed by every single detail. There is no doubt we shall return, this will be in my top 5 list of one of the best rooftop dining we’ve ever been to.

you’re looking for the perfect place to unwind and soak up Bangkok’s legendary skyline, should be at the top of your list. From the moment you step off the elevator, the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between vibrant energy and laid-back sophistication. The views are nothing short of spectacular — an uninterrupted panorama of the city’s glittering skyline that’s especially magical at sunset. Watching the sky shift from warm golds to neon lights while sipping a handcrafted cocktail is an experience you won’t soon forget. Speaking of drinks, the cocktail menu is imaginative and expertly executed. Each drink feels thoughtfully crafted, with fresh ingredients and creative twists on classic favorites. The signature cocktails are a must-try, and the staff are always happy to recommend something based on your tastes. The service here is exceptional. The team manages to be both attentive and unobtrusive, making you feel welcome without ever being overbearing. Whether it’s a quick drink with friends or a special night out, you’re in good hands. Benz is perfect waiter.

Had pre-dinner drinks at the saffron garden loung and bar which is a lot more secluded than the Moon Bar. We then had dinner at Saffron and were served by Korn who was a wonderful waitress who attended to our every need. She explained all of our courses and ensured any allergies and/or spice level preferences were identified early. So lovely to have a pre-entree complimentary set of crackers with four small bowls of different toppings - yum! Entree of Tom Kha Gai was scrumptious and followed by a complimentary sorbet to cleanse the palette. We both had the duck curry and were offered four different rices to go with it (my fave was the wild rice). More than enough to satisfy us. Lovely picture taken of us and presented to us as a keepsake. Overall highly recommend as our fave restaurant at The Banyan Tree Bangkok.

Absolutely loved the place. Amazing hotel with such great service. We booked a tour of the temples direct from the hotel and it was really reasonable. We were fortunate enough to end up with Arisa, who was born to do this job. She was a fantastic host with a fountain of knowledge. The rooftop bar and restaurant is really good and the Chinese restaurant they have onsite was out of this world. Only mild criticism is the traffic get SO congested outside the hotel and you can be sat in traffic for ages when heading offsite. Allow plenty of time for anything you choose to do outside of the hotel

Booked our NYE dinner at Saffron and it was absolutely amazing. The food was excellent, the ambience was elegant and vibrant, perfect for welcoming the New Year, and the tables were beautifully styled with real, fresh flower centerpieces, which added a classy and thoughtful touch. Sai and Korn provided outstanding service very attentive, fully aware of our food restrictions, and followed every instruction perfectly. The entire experience was seamless, memorable, and truly special. ✨🥂🌸

The food was well-prepared and full of flavor, with good balance and quality ingredients. Portions were satisfying without being heavy. Service was attentive and professional, and the staff Mrs.Film handled timing well. The atmosphere was comfortable and well-designed, making it suitable for both casual dining and special occasions. Prices matched the quality. Overall, a solid choice and worth revisiting.

A true 5 star hotel with great attention to detail. They really have mastered their craft and I think the hotel lives up to its reputation. The hotel is not new anymore and it shows in places, but during my visit it was super clean and nice. Having booked a club room I was escorted to the club lounge for check-in. I was lucky to have Ms. Wawa do the check-in formalities and introduce the hotel’s facilities and benefits for me. She is an absolute angel, and the sincere smile and concentration on the customer is amazing. With that kind of welcome I felt really happy to have chosen Banyan Tree. The hotel and all the facilities can be great, but it’s the people who can elevate it to the next level. Ms. Wawa did exactly that. I was lucky to have been upgraded to a Vertigo suite on the 57th floor. It was beautiful - stylish and classy, with well thought out details. A small and inexpensive example was that there were many complimentary bottles of water around the suite. The TV remote didn’t work when I arrived but a quick note to the staff solved the issue. Breakfast was marvelous both in the main restaurant and in the club lounge. Varied, fresh, presented with care. I really enjoyed trying out the Thai and Indian dishes as well as the more traditional breakfast items. Made to order eggs were available in many different ways. I did have a portion of waffles in the lounge and it was delicious. In the main restaurant there were many different juices to choose from. While I was in the main restaurant early in the morning the ambience felt quite serene and not as hectic as I would have expected. The service was good and efficient. The location is a bit of a mixed bag. On hand it’s next to a busy road and it’s not super far from an MRT stop, but on the other hand there’s not that much to see or experience in the very near vicinity. I didn’t consider it a problem. While some of the staff were a bit on the serious side, I want to thank Khun Koi, Mint and especially Wawa for their friendliness. All in all, a great experience. The competition is pretty tough in upscale hotels in Bangkok. If you appreciate traditional style luxury, I think Banyan Tree ticks many boxes. And if they can keep up with having great staff, they should be fine in the future.
