Banyan Tree Bangkok

"Why book? This five-star, all-suite hotel in Bangkok's Sathorn/Silom district offers a sleek executive lounge for business travelers, a sumptuous spa for vacationers, and a spectacular rooftop bar with 360-degree views of Bangkok for everyone in between.Set the scene With some of the largest rooms in Bangkok, the hotel attracts travelers that appreciate the finer things in life. Upon check-in, we observed lovey-faced honeymooners canoodling in the lounges, business executives in dark, tailored suits making Very Important Calls in the lobby, and an enormous Indian family with more luggage than a baggage claim blocking the elevators. While there are few amenities for babies and toddlers, we did notice a few well-heeled families traveling with children in grade school. The backstory Owned by Singaporean multinational hospitality brand Banyan Tree Holdings Limited, the high-rise hotel opened in 2002. Though some of the design choices feel a little dated now (the pinwheel carpeting designed to mask stains, for example), it’s timelessly chic from a business traveler’s POV. Nothing feels particularly worse for the wear, and some rooms—like the two-bedroom suites—have been recently renovated. The rooms Bigger than some New York City apartments, the guest suites range from 474 square feet for an Oasis Retreat room with one king bed up to 1,540 square feet for a two-bedroom suite designed to accommodate families or friends. Suites include a large desk for working remotely and long, dramatic settees; spacious bathrooms with rainfall showers, deep soaking tubs, double vanities, and Japanese-style toilets; and kitchenettes with minibars and espresso machines. Depending on what you book, guests may be treated to free-flowing beer and evening canapés in the Club Lounge, as well as limited laundering and garment-pressing services. While all rooms include incense sticks and candle-lit diffusers, there’s also a special Spa Sanctuary Retreat with unlimited in-suite spa services, including as many 60- and 90-minute massages as a guest can handle. The design of all rooms, from the smallest single to the Presidential Suite, are clean and minimalist with a smooth, masculine edge (think dark leather furnishings, padded wall panels, and dagger-like objets d'art that wouldn’t look out of place in a weapons museum). Rates start at $150 per night.Food and drink Decadent seafood platters and grilled steak are the things to order at Banyan Tree Bangkok’s rooftop restaurant Vertigo. (There are vegetarian options, too, including a three-course set.) If you just want a drink, that’s perfectly fine too: Moon Bar, located on the 61st floor, serves some Thai-inspired cocktails (try the purple Khor lik Nung featuring Saneha Thai gin, Asian vermouth, pineapple-honey shrub, and lime). Given the view, it’s no wonder this is a hit with the Instagram and TikTok set; the night we visited, we spotted Australian, French, Spanish, Slovak, and Korean tourists all taking selfies with the glittering city as their backdrop. The spa Banyan Tree as a company is known for its exceptional spas and this one is no different. From the crystalline bamboo art installation to the opulent Thai textiles smoothed across padded massage beds, it spares no attention to detail. Most treatments take their cues from Thai, Chinese, Indonesia, and Indian traditions and include a calming foot bath and herbal refreshments. If you’re not sure where to begin, consider a muscle-melting Thai massage followed by a refreshing kaffir lime body scrub. The neighborhood/area It’s located in the Sathon/Silom neighborhood, a central business district with numerous embassies, schools, office buildings, hotels, and restaurants. It’s walkable to sprawling Lumpini Park, one of the largest and best manicured green spaces in Bangkok, and a reasonable tuk-tuk ride away from the Grand Palace, Temple of the Emerald Buddha, and other big tourist draws. Just under 22 miles from Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK), bank on a taxi ride taking anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes. The service Hotel is attentive without being overbearing, always two steps ahead in terms of anticipating what guests want or need. This is particularly true of the hushed and reverent service we experienced in the 19th-floor Executive Lounge, a lovely respite from the chaos in the streets below. From cold towels and lemongrass tea upon arrival to breakfast bags packed up and ready to go for guests with red-eye flights, the workers make every guest feel like the King of Siam. Accessibility The hotel offers handicap-accessible rooms, as well as ramps and elevators in every public space except for the Saffron Sky Garden and Vertigo rooftop. Anything left to mention? Though you may think clubby bars are not for you, Banyan’s rooftop boîte is a must-see. Yes, the cocktails are pricey by Bangkok standards. Yes, you will feel underdressed when you get an eyeful of the beautiful people who flock here. But the phenomenal 360-degree views of the city make it all worth it." - Ashlea Halpern

Overall, we had a wonderful experience at the Banyan Tree Bangkok and would highly recommend it. The positives far outweighed the minor negatives. We were upgraded from a standard room to a massive suite (Room 2403), which was a fantastic surprise and made our stay feel very special. The bed was very good for sleep as it was the right amount of soft for a side sleeper like myself, and the club package was a great decision, making the stay convenient with easy access to breakfast and drinks. The service was truly incredible; the reception team, in particular, was extremely helpful when I lost my wallet, going to great lengths to help me get it back. We had a small maintenance issue with the bathtub which was quickly fixed, and it took a little while to get the AC temperature right on the first night. Despite the small hiccups, the quality of the room and the outstanding service made this a five-star experience.

Honest review after 10 nights at Banyan Tree Bangkok I stayed for 10 nights at the Banyan Tree Bangkok in the Executive area. The staff in the Executive Lounge on the 19th floor were truly excellent – well trained, attentive and very professional. Unfortunately, the rest of the hotel doesn’t quite meet that standard. The property feels rather dated. The rooms are old, and soundproofing is poor – you can clearly hear doors slamming from other rooms along the corridor. Everything is still very analogue: the QR codes lead to Google documents, but you can’t actually order or book anything online. Even scheduling a massage has to be done by phone. Communication is also weak. There’s no written or digital guest information about breakfast, afternoon tea or hotel services – everything is explained verbally at check-in, which is not ideal after a long flight. The pool area is small but nicely designed. Sadly, the service there was a real disappointment. There’s nothing better than relaxing by the pool with a drink, but there’s simply no service. Staff walk around adjusting cushions instead of approaching guests. I ordered coffee twice and never received it – I finally had to go down to the Executive Lounge myself to get one and bring it back. It’s a shame, because the pool itself could be a real highlight. The rooftop bar is beautiful and worth a visit, but there are even better options in Bangkok. The staff throughout the hotel are friendly and polite, but service quality varies and training seems inconsistent. Check-out was, unfortunately, another low point. You simply pay and that’s it – no farewell gesture, no coffee offer, no sense of closure or warmth. Even though it was breakfast time and I had a transfer arranged, nobody asked if I wanted a coffee to go. Other hotels do this much better, and such small gestures make a big difference. Overall, for the price level, the value just isn’t there anymore. The service, rooms and digital experience don’t match what you’d expect from a five-star property. With renovation, better communication and more consistent training, Banyan Tree Bangkok could easily become amazing again – but right now, it’s simply not worth the price.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Banyan Tree Hotel, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding – I tried their Chinese dim sum, which was absolutely delicious, and also enjoyed their cocktails, which were perfectly crafted and very flavorful. The atmosphere was wonderful, with a relaxing and elegant vibe complemented by stunning views of the city. The service was exceptional – staff were attentive, friendly, and made the experience even more enjoyable. Another big plus is the convenience of on-site parking, which made the visit smooth and hassle-free. Overall, Banyan Tree Hotel offers a perfect blend of great food, drinks, ambiance, and hospitality. Highly recommended for both dining and relaxing in a beautiful setting.

Our stay was perfect. The staff are all so helpful and kind. The Suite was spacious, modern and ultra comfortable. Using the Club membership for a more intimate breakfast and lobby snacks/drinks was great. The rooftop bar (Moon) has an unforgettable view. We will definitely stay again in the future!

Took the Saffron cruise for wife's birthday. Boarded the boat at 7pm and finished dinner by 9.15pm over a 4 course Thai fusion meal. After dinner we proceeded up on the deck for another half an hour to view the beautiful evening scenes. Waited by Khun Lek who was very attentive and helpful with taking beautiful photos for us. Food was surprisingly filling and very beautifully and deliciously prepared. Amazing environment.. of course helped by the windy weather. Highly recommended.

Banyan Tree Bangkok is such a wonderful place to stay! I’m so glad I chose it to celebrate our anniversary . it really made the occasion feel special. The service was exceptional; everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Our room was huge, clean, and super comfortable, with stunning views of the city that made waking up every morning a treat. The hotel itself has a relaxing and luxurious vibe, perfect for a special getaway. While it’s a bit far from the main city center, the nearby metro makes exploring Bangkok really easy. Plus, the rooftop bar and dining options are fantastic , great food, amazing drinks, and the views are unforgettable. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend Banyan Tree Bangkok for anyone looking for a comfortable, stylish, and memorable stay!

One of the best hotels in Bangkok. I stayed in Banyan Tree for few days in early September. The services are excellent, when I checked in, they would provide a welcome drink and snack, you just sat there and didn’t need to queue and wait. The room is big and clean which I was so surprised. Afterwards, I enjoyed my 90mins massage from therapist who called “POJ”, it is one of the best massage I have tried. It was really refreshing. Everything is good, just the location which is a bit far away from MRT station, and suggest to take taxi or grab if you want to go out. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t good those days and rooftop bar wasn’t open. The massage is excellent but compared with another massages, it is 2 to 3 times more expensive.

I celebrated my 60th Birthday here with my Husband in a beautiful park view room. I was very spoilt. I had my Birthday dinner in Bai Yun Restaurant..Dim Sum buffet.. it was superb !!! The staff are all fantastic.. a special shout out to ‘Hill’ and ‘field’, they were very attentive, all the meeters and greeters were lovely and very helpful. My room had a lovely birthday surprise, and I had 2 ‘Birthday cakes’.. 1 in my room on return from dinner, and 1 at the restaurant ! It has been a very special day . Thank you Banyan Tree for a memorable birthday.
