Must try. ☆ We kept passing by it and finally got the chance to. Really savory. Will come back for that duck dish soon. Didnt know we had to call for it advance. Cant wait. !

Google
It was an amazing experience. The food was amazing, the staff was friendly and there wasn’t much people there, so the wait wasn’t really long. Definitely recommend. It’s worth it to eat here.

Google
The food is delicious!! Small little quaint place that made me feel comfortable. Service was great! Will go back again and again. 😊

Update: The duck is absolutely fantastic 💫 The Chinese 5 Spice shine through with extraordinary colors!!!!! Get ya some ;) Highly recommend the egg drop soup 🍜 You can definitely tell it is made in house. It is so light and airy with the perfect texture. The owners are from Vietnam and give a great authentic spin. Do you like a Cherry limeade without all the calories???? Try the Cherry 🍒 Lime soda water, super yummy! Everything else was good for the price. We had the Szechuan Chicken “traditional style” had amazing bites of fresh ginger which I love! We had the Egg Foo Young with Chicken which was good, next time I would do sauce on the side so it stays crispy. The Hot & Sour Soup was good, but I am spoiled to the flavor of Leong’s Asian Dinner Hot & Sour Soup, but it was still much better than your standard run of the mill Chinese places here in Springfield. We had the Salt & Pepper Jalapeño Pork and my wife loved it. I thought the breading was a little thick, but for the price of only $9.95 how can I complain??? The crab Rangoon was what you would expect and the potstickers were super delicious. We wanted the duck but they were out tonight, I get that because it is a specialty dish. Can’t wait to go back again and try it. They also do steamed buns from time to time so it is hit and miss. I will keep checking! All in all I would recommend trying this little spot out. They do not serve any type of alcohol, but I imagined they would let you bring in your own beer or wine. My highest recommendation…….get the “Egg Drop Soup”!!!!

The food was delicious- had the meatball hot pot. It was both savory and sweet- the pork was melting in my mouth it was so soft.

Google
We stopped in to have some Springfield Cashew Chicken. The service left a lot to be desired but we enjoyed our Cashew chicken. It was a very good sized portion and came with fried rice and two Crab Rangoon. The sauce was not exactly how I remembered cashew chicken but overall it was hot and tasty. The sweet and sour sauce that we asked for to dip our Crab Rangoon was really good. There was more chicken than breading and they were nice white meat pieces.

Beautiful Chinese restaurant with a Beautiful atmosphere in the Beautiful neighborhood of Chesterfield Village in the Beautiful Southside of Springfield! I enjoyed a divine dinner here with Mom before I went bowling tonight. When we walked through the back door, I noticed unusually narrow booths, each side only appearing enough to fit one person. Their unusual appearance is why I selected to sit at one of them. Their location within the empty back side contrasted against the Beautiful scenic view of Chesterfield Village from the front side. I love the scenery of Chesterfield Village, which is why I sat on the side toward the booths to provide me pictures of myself dining here with the scenic view behind me. And every bit as much, great food here! I ordered the Springfield-style cashew chicken to be local--after all, Springfield, Missouri, is the birthplace of cashew chicken! It was as good as the cashew chicken at any other Chinese restaurant in the Ozarks where I ate it. All of these things make Bao Bao an excellent example of the several different restaurants only a short walk away from Chesterfield Lofts and Chesterfield Village Apartments. So if I was to move to one of those apartments in the near future and this restaurant was to stay open, then I would undoubtedly enjoy my life there for the opportunity to occasionally dine in that restaurant.

Google
From my cashew chicken trail series of reviews. This was the best tasting sauce so far! My biggest gripe, was the price. For what I paid, five chunks of chicken is not enough. I’ve heard complaints about some restaurants, but this is worse in value to those. Just crab rangoon for your side. Chicken and rice were slightly above average. It’s been a while since I’ve cleaned a plate and still left hungry.

Yelp
I always like this place...it has great dishes...but the new owners need to look at things, from the customers perspective: Had one visit where the owner was holding his sick kid, the whole time he waited on us for dinner. Sick kid....in the fact the kids nose was running profusely. Now, yesterday's visit: the owner had his kids at a table - watching kids shows on a newly installed tv. I've had other visits with this similar scene. Gives a feel to place as (doubling) as a daycare.
google avatar

Martha G.

Yelp
My kids like to watch certain YouTube videos with a character whose voice is so shrill and obnoxious they're no longer allowed to watch those videos at our house. That YouTube channel is precisely what was playing inside this restaurant, at full volume. My son and I ate in the car and the rest of the family ate as fast as they could. Other reviewers mentioned this but I assumed it wouldn't happen all the time. Apparently it does. The food was not worth the trouble. Don't plan to relax and enjoy your food inside the restaurant, just order it to go.

Yelp
Bao Bao is another restaurant that I visited while I was in Springfield, MO as I was craving mandarin, cantonese style food. We had a hard time deciding on what to order as the menu looked really good with the variety. I am happy with what was ordered as it was very tasty! Beef Noodles yummy! Spicy vegetable chicken yummy! They have many appetizers and aka carte options so your can really order what you like how you like. The next time I am in Springfield I will stop in to try some of their other recommendations.

John W.

Yelp
Okay food- a little greasy, but good portions I will come again for the portions alone

Yelp
First time dining here and I have to say, I wished we lived closer as this has to be the best Springfield Cashew Chicken I have ever had. The Crispy Egg Roll and the Rangoons that came with the meal were pretty good as well. As for the ambience it was good. Everything was clean and the service was very good as well. Any time we are back in Springfield and wanting Cashew Chicken this will be where we dine.

Yelp
The server was super nice and asked us about our day, checking on us several times. The food came out quickly and was delicious! My husband, a connoisseur of cashew chicken, gave two thumbs on his order and said it was the best he had eaten in a while. I had the kung pao chicken and it was so good. Loved that it actually had some spice to it like it should. So many around here make it weaker to suit the palette of those who don't know better. Hubby had egg drop soup and loved it as well! I throughly enjoyed the hot and sour soup. I can't resist pot stickers so we had an order with our meal. Also very good! Definitely coming back!! Very nice small town feel and atmosphere. Highly recommend

Yelp
They have amazing Food there service is amazing they always ask if the foods good and my aunt works there and she's the best server that I have known I love bao bao they have the best pot stickers I've ever had

Yelp
This restaurant is excellent every time! AND they pass their state inspections with flying colors (I checked). Very friendly staff, good food, good price, and never a long wait time.

Mark W.

Yelp
Yummy and the owner was there to say hello. Order was prepared on time and the location is easy to get to!
google avatar

Harriet M.

Yelp
It was amazing. Service was top-tier sweetest people ever food was delicious. Will be back again very soon.
google avatar

Sheryll W.

Yelp
Good food, great customer service! I have been here twice and they are always busy. Servers always approach you with a smile. There is quite a wait but it was because their food is made to order. Try the duck, it's so delicious! Their shrimp chow mein and salt and pepper shrimp are very good too!

Meagan W.

Yelp
We ordered the cashew chicken and it was phenomenal. Service was great too. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Priscilla H.

Yelp
Hot and sour was delicious! I'm even taking some to go it's so good Had the fried dumplings for my lunch , delicious as well. Hubby had crunchy beef with steam white rice. All was very good and would certainly come when in town

Yelp
It is rare but sometimes Yelp steers is wrong. This place had great reviews BUT it was pretty bad. Not the worst Chinese we've ever had but very very close. I have shrimp and squid special. It was a big huge pile of stir fried onions, 5 or 6 baby shrimp and some squid that was right on the verge of spoiled. I love squid but this squid was probably good a week or so ago. Spring rolls had burned grease taste. Buyer beware!
google avatar

Karen W.

Yelp
We ordered spicy shrimp and squid special and a plate of bourbon steak. Both dishes came with very tasty sauce. But unfortunately the plastic containers they chose to use didn't seal the dishes well. The sauce leaked all over the place in the plastic bag. Both dishes has the same filling which is onion. There was lots of onion and not a lot of shrimp, squid or steak. Because of the price and the small portion of filling, I lowered the rating. Also the shrimp and squids were not as fresh as I like. Each dish came with a small container of old fried rice. I would much prefer fresh white rice.

Yelp
Excellent place to eat in Springfield! We stopped by for lunch recently and decided to try a few new things. We split the duck and ordered some pot stickers. It was all delicious. The duck was spectacular. Cooked to perfection. The pot stickers were also delicious. We can't wait to return and try some more dishes.

Kelly R.

Yelp
Nice little restaurant. Owner was very kind and food was good and reasonably priced. I have a good allergy and the cook came out and talked with me about what I should or shouldn't order. I appreciate that!

Jeffrey H.

Yelp
Had a hair in our food, called the restaurant and hard to hear her! I'll never go there again!
google avatar

MIchael M.

Yelp
Ok bao bao is not a five star restaurant but if you need food on the cheap, like 7 people under a hundred this the place, they have a large menu with lots of pictures. The seating is small but comfortable, they do a-lot of to-go traffic and with just a few workers so there is a short wait but the staff was kind and patient.

Makayela D.

Yelp
The lady serving us was super nice and friendly and honestly this was the best sesame chicken I've had. It was slightly different with their own recipe but so good. And the same goes for the crab Rangoon's egg rolls and pit stickers all had their own slight own flavor to it but super delicious. My meme was obsessed with the sauce that came with the crab Rangoon's never had anything like it!

David S.

Yelp
Ordered our meal for delivery. The meal came quick and was well wrapped and still hot. Great taste and the vegetable's were cooked deliciously.

Paiton T.

Yelp
My family and I went to Bao Bao's, the service was amazing! Everybody was so friendly and kind. Our server went above and beyond and it was a pleasure eating at such a welcoming place! The food was delicious, and my money was well spent! Their portion sizes were great for their pricing! I will definitely be coming again. I really enjoyed it and I give this place a 10/10!

Yelp
When people ask me what the best Chinese place is in Springfield, I always yell as loud as I can BAO BAO!!!! They always look at me like I've lost my damn mind, bc all I can muster is one word repeated twice - BAO BAO!!!! I literally just yell BAO BAO non-stop for like 2 mins, eventually ending up in tears lying in the fetal position in the back seat of my moms Pontiac Sunfire, The yelling of the name for 2 mins really drives the intrigue, so they all eventually stop to check it out after I make an absolute scene. But, once they get to BAO BAO and try that amazing food, they realize I wasn't crazy at all. I'm just a very passionate person with a TON of opinions about BAO related cuisine. How BAO that! (Sad Trombone)

Yelp
found a cockroach. the server was nice and the food was okay, what freaked us out was finding a bug.
google avatar

Charlene N.

Yelp
Excellent choice for made from scratch Asian. Best Egg Foo Young I have had in years and husband said the same for his sesame chicken. If you are in the area stop in. Only note is this is a very casual environment. Not the most aesthetic for dining in.
google avatar

Kelsey P.

Yelp
I recently ate here after hearing the review on the Springfood, MO podcast. The way they described the orange beef had me intrigued so I talked my husband into coming with me for dinner. My first experience wasn't amazing, but I wanted to try again. We walked in and it was mostly empty, but as time went on, it filled up. We started with the potstickers which were so good. The soy sauce concoction they made to dip the potstickers in was fabulous. I ordered the orange glazed beef and my husband ordered the general chicken. The orange glazed beef is CRISPY. The crispiest meat I have ever had. It is breaded and so delicious. The orange sauce was a smidge too sweet but I kept going back for more because of the texture of the beef. Even with the sauce on it, it is so crunchy an crispy. You have to try it!! The fried rice is basically white rice with a little soy sauce, nothing fancy. I was absolutely stuffed after my meal and my husband was the same way. He said it was really good, and he thought there was way too much sauce on the plate. It was a ridiculous amount of sauce, but he said it was pretty good anyway. I am definitely impressed with Bao Bao and will be coming back. I'm glad I gave this place a second chance; it was so worth it!!
google avatar

Lindsay M.

Yelp
Seriously good Chinese food. I had orange chicken and wonton soup. It was the best I've had. The chicken was crispy and fried with orange sauce added after. It wasn't soggy like most places. Also, the wonton soup had fresh veggies and an actual flavorful broth. I enjoyed the small quiet atmosphere and friendly staff.

Kelsey C.

Yelp
Food was pretty good, pretty fast. Cheap-ish pricing for portion size. The lady behind the counter was nice at first but then started rushing my friend and I? (We left before 7:30pm) and she randomly closed my to-go container while I was putting my food inside of it, and told me not to worry when I checked my spare to go order. I was just making sure it was all there since it was prepared ina rush. ‍ Place is small but cute. Kind of a dive but, may go here again.

Yelp
Family-run eclectic Chinese diner in a newer development at the south edge of town. Lots of interesting items on the menu with traditional Chinese -American favs (kung Pao or sweet & sour this and that), but also more daring stuff (intestines). Several spicy choices too. We ordered what appeared to be house specials and were not disappointed. The bourbon steak was similar to a mongolian beef with tender marinated skirt steak and onions, while the shrimp and squid stir fry had a medium spice level. Wonderful taste and plenty of sauce to get soaked up by the rice that came with the entrees. Portions were enough for 2 folks plus a little leftover for tomorrow's lunch. Prices were very reasonable for the portions doled out. I could easily see how this place could become a regular go-to place for locals, given the prices and the wide variety of menu items.

Yelp
Doesn't look much from the outside but they offer some pretty good dishes. Like the people here. Gave them a try and will be back.

Alisha H.

Yelp
The people seemed nice and I am only going off of this as I placed a take out order. The quality and portion size of the food doesn't match up with the price point. Almost nonexistent slivers of pork with one piece of baby bok choy in the Pork Bok Choy Rice Balls. Was a very small portion size (when put off to one side it didn't fill even half the container). The dish was $10.95. -Tried to cram more then one portion size of rice into a small styrofoam to go box. -Chow Mein was very disappointing and I would not recommend it. Crab Rangoon's were dry and had about a tsp of filling. We did not eat our meals because they were not appetizing. Unfortunately this establishment does not honor refunds (even if you bring back the food) for unsatisfied customers so take that into consideration when deciding where to go. As far as the establishment goes it could use a good cleaning. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone if you're looking for a quality meal.
google avatar

Tristine L.

Yelp
The food was delicious! My boyfriend got the bourbon steak and I got the black bean clams. We went back two straight days in a row. It's about a 40 minute drive for us, but it's worth it in our opinion. The lady who took our order was very nice and soft spoken.
google avatar

Rob C.

Yelp
Excellent food. Fun place to dine. My sons love the program they have their where you can cook your own food unlimited

James B.

Yelp
Small place but tons of flavor. Pictures weren't thought of until after eating so our apologies. General chicken was some of the best around that reminds us of Mr Yen's. Crispy orange beef was very tasty and the boys rounded out with sweet and sours. Can't beat this
google avatar

Perry C.

Yelp
First time ordering from here. My lovely gf and I are both chefs and obviously foodies. We're also new to the area and had been wanting some good Chinese food. This led us to Bao Bao. She loves sweet n sour chicken. I must say.. I'm not a sweet n sour fan but I was surprised by how crispy the chicken was, and still very tender. Downside was the chicken didn't have much flavor. I had the beef broccoli, which was very good. Choice cut meat and loaded with veggies! The rice wasn't bad, but forgettable. Four stars because the quality was there, just lacking that "pop". Would definitely try it again.

Ray C.

Yelp
Order the duck! Try the beef and green bean. Pot stickers. Dumplings. So many dishes that make us happy and returning every week or two. The team there is great and the food is consistent. Love Bao Bao
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
If you want to know what poop taste like I would recommend the Mongolian Beef. Absolutely inedible and smelled like a turd. Orange chicken was fantastic in comparison but still subpar. Crab rangoon and egg rolls were fine. Moral of the story is that it is possible to screw up Chinese food.

Kaiden G.

Yelp
this place is amazing not only for food before it's amazing atmosphere. The people that work here are very nice and treat you with respect and the food is set at good prices so you get more for less I highly recommend coming here and eating.
google avatar

John P.

Yelp
It appears that they have closed the restaurant. They're hours open hasn't been updated since Christmas time.
google avatar

Chrystal M.

Yelp
Bao Bao is AMAZINNNNNG!!!! The crab rangoon was the best I've had too. I ordered off of the traditional menu and the employees came to me hush-hush and asked if it was really what I wanted because no one other than "traditional" people order that dish. I still chose it and I'd order it again in a heart beat cause that hot pot was delicious!
google avatar

Shayla S.

Yelp
It was hard to find at first, then we found a little wooden sign that said where to go, we parked in the public parking and came in the back door. It is cozy and smaller but our family of four still fit at a table. We ordered the orange chicken, chicken noodle, general chicken and wonton soup. It all cam out fairly quickly! And was amazing! The food was inexpensive and so delicious, very authentic!
google avatar

Denise C.

Yelp
I was not impressed. Although in fairness to the restaurant no Chinese food from this area impresses me. I am from NYC and believe me the food from NY is way different. There is a better flavor, more ingredients. For instance, the crab Rangoon in this town is hilarious there's no crab in it. Not so in NY. This place got great reviews and for me sadly it didn't hit the mark, none of it has. Chinese is the only food so far that hasn't come close to NY. I guess I'll have Chinese when i go home because this is NOT Chinese food as I know it. Bad? I can't say that. But I can and will say it is very underwhelming
google avatar

Alyssa S.

Yelp
This was my first time ordering takeout and it did not disappoint! I got my food to-go but the restaurant looked very cozy and clean when I went to pick it up! I will say my only issue is google maps takes you to the back of the restaurant and it's really confusing to find. They did have a sign outside pointing to it, but we just missed it when driving in. So if you're lost definitely know you're probably behind the shop, because it's actually right on the corner of the street near a neighborhood entrance, just FYI! They said the food would be ready in 25 min and I actually arrived closer to 40 (my bad) and the food still was super hot and fresh! I got the General Taos lunch and an order of crab rangoons and everything tasted great! The chicken was super flavorful and crispy (w/ lots of sauce which I appreciate) and the rice and rangoons were delicious! Will definitely be back! 10/10!
google avatar

Keith W.

Yelp
This place is so good. Got to go a little out of your way to find it, but once you do, oh boy, you are in for a treat. We got the big bowl of hot & sour soup, traditional Kung Pao chicken, orange crispy beef, and shredded pork. All fantastic, and the price is super reasonable, all that an a couple of sodas was less than $40. We ate in the restaurant the couple of times we have gone, but would be good for takeout as well.
google avatar

Delina N.

Yelp
Great spot! I like to order from their more traditional Chinese menu. Would recommend the sweet soy braised pork belly, the salt pepper pork, salt pepper tofu. I like this place because it's a good place to do family style Chinese food. Staff wears masks and are friendly!
google avatar

Andy K.

Yelp
One of the best Chinese restaurants in town. The orange crispy beef is so unique; so crunchy and delicious. They also cook some of the best Springfield-style chicken+rice dishes around, and they serve everything HOT, steaming off the wok. I recommend the General, but add a little heat to it because they go pretty easy on the spices. Four stars+ for me, and it's still not too intense. We did a full review and explored the history of Bao Bao on our local restaurant podcast here: http://www.springfoodpod.xyz/episode/8d1f1151-908c-4a65-bb3b-cf6272b15ba2

Yelp
This was my first time trying Bao Bao. We had 5 people and we all wanted Chinese food and decided we would try Bao Bao. I love the location, it's such a nice area. We went inside, we were pleasantly greeted, and were seated with menus. The prices were very reasonable. All of our dinners came out really hot and in good time. We all enjoyed our dinner, the food was delicious and we all had something different. I had General chicken, fried rice, and Crabrangoon, I loved everything. The Crabrangoon was very good, crispy, and fried to perfection. My General Chicken was great, you can choose your spice level, I like spicy and it had a great kick. My rice was good, perfectly cooked. Even though Springfield is the home of "Cashew Chicken", good Chinese Restaurants are few and far between, this is definitely a good one. I look forward to our next visit!
google avatar

Jina N.

Yelp
Awesome place for authentic chinese food!! Its a small restaurant with plenty of flavors. Me and my kids come here most of the time. They have the best wonton soup and steam dumpling. If u like seafood, they have their fried salt and pepper shrimp, which is to die for and stir fry clams with black bean sauce!! Their kung pao chicken and beef with green beans is so good. There are many more so come and try Bao Bao, u won't be disappointed!!

Yelp
Let me start off with WOW. I got the crispy orange glazed beef with potstickers and it was absolutely excellent.
