BAO City

We came for the famous denver steak with egg yolk and rice. It looks amazing, but is not that tasty. The meat was pretty good, but it felt like something was missing. Concerning the Baos, the fried chicken one is a must, absolutely delicious!!! What a great surprise. Unfortunately the classic braised pork was disappointing, since we could only taste the peanut. At least the bread was amazingly fluffy. We also had the lamb dumplings, which were good, but nothing special

Really pleased with the city branch, food came out ultra quick, it looks super nice and ambient. Service was great and on the dot which I am a fan of. Ordered bao 15 Aubergine Daikon bao Tofu dan dan Beef noodle soup Fried chicken Aubergine was soososo great, perfect hetergeneity flavour was balanced too. Fried chicken was very tender and juicy, light and crispy, tofu dan dan had great nutty notes and a solid bite factor. Beef noodle soup was ok, probably my least favourite, nothing bad just so so. For those who are a bit more antisocial the order and pay with qr is really seamless and actually so well designed with its UI, its a bit different but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Have been to some of the other branches but this was the best.

The best of the lot. You can upgrade the Wagyu here. The higher grade tastes twice as good and is significantly less chewy. Even if you don't upgrade, it's still a very satisfying beef bowl. Service staff are lovely, although they can be slow because it gets busy. Nice ambience, mellow yellow lights, clean, not too noisy. Dont get the popcorn chicken. It's very very average and there's barely enough hot sauce to coat 2 of the 5 pieces.

We got the Special Dark Horse Set Menu, but should have gone for the classics / à la carte. It started well, with the fried chicken really tender inside, the mushroom dumplings and the sauce were really tasty and the baos (prawn and braised pork) were the highlights of the meal. However the salmon salad was completely forgettable and the noodles were sticky, as if left sitting for too long before being served. The service, although friendly, was really slow for a set menu.

Really Nice food. I am a vegetarian so choices for me are limited (but that is a me problem). The vibe is friendly. We did the lunch menu, and it was absolutely worth the price. The place got busy very quickly at lunch but the the staff was still very attentive. Do try the Pomelo and Yuzu soda with your meal.

£15 for a main, bao, starter, very good value especially buying a noodle itself cost £14.75 already. Very good for a lunch deal and they offer very traditional taiwanese food. The beef noodles soup is rich, little bit too salty but acceptable. It could be slightly more hot. But overall definitely worth visiting again.

Stunning interior décor. Friendly service. Some dishes were great, full of flavour and texture. But the noodles were disappointing. The main issue was the timing. We arrived at noon and ordered several dishes, but the beef noodles took nearly 40 minutes to arrive and most of the ingredients were cold, this timing isn’t ideal for a city lunch break. Booking during lunchtime is highly recommended to avoid disappointment.
