After the Pride Parade in We.Ho., I was in the mood for some Dim Sum.
I had been to this place before (although I did not review it) but I had positive memories of the joint so I was guided here by a distant memory that I associated with a good time. I am sure you understand. We often go to what we know, even though we might not really remember the good time that well. But sometimes a faint memory is enough to light the path we wish to take.
My mom and I went to this place. The place seemed occupied but not so much that I would describe the place as busy to the brim. Yet, my mom and me still had to wait. We did not wait that long. They escorted my mom to table near the kitchen. I did not even sit down before I requested a new table--- the odor of the ammonia that instantly greeted us was too strong, I knew I would not enjoy my meal. They ushered us back to the waiting area.
Soon after they sat us at a table for five or six. I am not going to lie the proceeding wait was too long for my comfort. No one greeted us. No one brought us water. My eyes searched for support. I am frgagile when I eat, if I am not attended to us soon as I sit down, I become annoyed. And my boiling tea pot cannot be simmered down easily. But Dave did. I hope I got his name right, cause I truly want his flowers to be delivered to him. He read male, Asian, his hair was in an up-ward bun. It was not puffy, or messy, the bun was thin and up. I think that is enough for the joint to identify the server if I got his name wrong--- for he was kind and understanding as assuaged my annoyance effectively and swiftly.
I informed Dave, as soon as he greeted us that we were waiting for awhile to the point that I felt "forgotten." He apologized authenthically, and explained that the place was somewhat busy. The sincerity in his voice was pure. We ordered a lot. Then after we had placed the order he apologized again. Again, it was sincere and effective. One of the itmes that we ordered was Pork Belly Bun. He brought them soon after because they were ready to be served, and I am sure to atone for the wait to be seen.
He deserves praise for doing his job right and with spiriit.
The food at this place is strong. There was some stuff that was similar, like walnut shrimp that done right. And some bomb! Xiao Long Bao. I used my chopsticks to puncture holes in the Bao so the sopui inside cools. I cannot wait. I eat one. It is hot. I use my diet coke to smallen the scorch. What joy it is to eat XIao Long Bao-- and this place delivers what you need to experience the joy of eating Bao.
The egg rolls were nicely crisped, they were full of chicken and only chicken. That was a unique twist. Chicken egg rolls with only chicken- no cabbsge no carrots.
If you want to do Dim Sum and Chinese food in We.Ho. this place is a must try---- it defintely holds its own. It might not have a massive following, it might not have bells and whistles, but it is a solid place that deserves patronage cause they are a place that helps you enjoys the flavors of Asia in an LA way.
