Bao Tea House was so cute and I really liked their drinks and baos! I thought the chicken bao had a flavorful filling and a nice, flaky exterior. I did not like the veggie bao filling as much, but the bread was still good. The interior of the restaurant was unique and cute. They have downstairs bar seating and a cute upstairs area with unique seating. All the staff I talked to were very nice and helpful. They also had punch cards and a promotion for a free drink if you spend $15. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area and am looking for a light snack and drink.

Amazing selection of steamed buns (and a veggie one too!) and sweet and savory baos. The setting is like a Japanese tea house. Their tea was amazing as well as matcha latte. Everything is under $10 and some under $5. It’s the perfect location right on Mulberry Street and the staff was so kind and helpful. Definitely add to your list! Please support your local businesses!

I was surprised by the amount of bun selection they had here. They have so many flavors which cover sweet and savory. They also have Gua Bao which are my favorite! Staff is super nice and will walk you through all the flavors and different drinks. Love this place and highly recommended it.

Cute café that can be a respite, especially for tired tourists! The second level is a minimalist Japan style setting, quite zen like! I ordered the Valentine bao (contains rose flavor custard), lavender drink, and curry onigiri (comes in 2). Everything was delicious! Definitely eat the bao while it's still warm. Onigiri was yummy but greasy. The single restroom is located down some steep steps. The worker is friendly and I appreciate her arranging my food on a tray when I returned from the restroom. Only complaint I have to point out is that there was a strange, slightly sewage smell that permeated through. Hopefully, that was just an off one time thing!

I got two egg baos and one matcha red bean bao, and they were both stellar. The generous custard filling was always threatening to ooze out, and I took every bite with a lot of caution. The matcha bao was very red bean forward, and nothing except the color of the bun suggested matcha to me. It was nonetheless a very tasty red bean bao. Both were pretty sweet, but I suspect people will find the sweetness of the red bean one more pronounced due to its less complex flavor profile. One amazing thing about these baos is that the pineapple bun topping does not become soggy with time. I reheated the egg bao in an air fryer to make sure I’d get the ‘lava’ effect, and that definitely also made the topping much tastier. Another plus is that they freeze amazingly well. After eating the first egg bao, I was way too full to finish the rest, and threw them in the freezer. I airfried them about a week later, and they (at least the egg yolk one) tasted exactly the same as the first one. Update: I tried the taro ube bao as well and it did not disappoint. I don’t understand how people could be saying they want more filling, because mine was completely full. It was way more ube than taro though, and the ube was very glutinous. I would want more ube instead. As good as it was, it did not surpass the egg bao or the matcha bao.

A modern new shop, we like the sweet Baos at this place. We had the rose and taro Ube ones. Nice lighting and elegant seating area on the higher level. Too bad the coffee machine is not working. It's unfortunate to see the place being mismanaged when it is only a few months old. The staff's minds were not hundred percent there. The seating area was messy and dirty. They have a lot of room for improvements. Hope the store will do well!

Cute area for a quick but filling snack. I loved my starry Starry Night boba tea. I will be returning. There's seating here and customer service was pleasant. I loved both the steamed Bao and the rice chicken curry bao.

Love the atmosphere, would come here just to sit and relax in the upstairs area. Lava bao is 10/10, ube is good too and valentines is a little odd but perfect if you like strong rose flavors. Strong espresso.
