"As an Asian-American, boba is naturally part of my diet. The problem for me is that most boba drinks are dairy-based. Mary and David Dao, the Vietnamese-American co-owners of Soy Good in Garden Grove, are looking to change that. Soy Good was originally called Soy HV to pay homage to Mary’s parent’s tofu shop, Hung Vuong, but has since rebranded. They wanted to introduce soy-based products and healthier options to the current generation. Widely popular for their boba drinks, they also serve fried green onion and mushroom tofu snacks and freshly made tofu by the brick. I like to order the soy pudding with a flan-like texture and drizzle ginger or thai tea syrup on top. Meanwhile, Crystal loves the jade bliss signature drink made with pandan mung bean soy milk, soy pudding, boba, and coconut sago." - esther cho, with warm welcome

Google
Found this new spot in Garden grove and it’s pretty good. A lot of dishes to choose from and they’re all pretty good. The bun dau is a large portion and it’s legit.

Google
Small and clean Viet restaurant. Love this place cause they've variety of Viet street food with cheap prices. The rice paper salad is okay, the fermented shrimp past was kinda salty and I wasn't enjoy it at all. Pha lau was the best.

Keith Thai

Google
Small mom & pop food place which specializes in the Northern Vietnam dishes. The noodles soup we tried were tasty. You order and pay at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The restaurant is small but clean and cozy. One side of the restaurant, they have setup some pre-made food for just grab and go!Would definitely come back to try other dishes.

Love this place. I like Pha Lau Will come back for goat.

Google
It’s rare to find a place have mixed paper for $6.5 and pretty delicious like this. Other food were good too. They mostly open for to go pick up orders, only 1 big table here, of course you can eat there but not too many tables to serve. The only complaint but not really frustrating, the employee kept calling me “auntie” 🥹 I’m still so young. I hope next time she will call me “sis”.

Google
Very good coconut beef intestine stew. Friendly service. Price is reasonable!

Google
Went here during their Soft Opening. I was so surprised to find out they have Banh Da Hai Phong here. Literally searched the whole Bolsa to find a place that have this dish. Food tasted good. Drink is BOGO. Everything is clean. Good service! Everyone should try!

Yelp
I discovered this new Vietnamese restaurant in Korean mall. I know this place, it was Chinese restaurant for a while. The generation is getting younger, changing. The parents generation is retired, baby boomer. That is why the restaurant looks very fresh, young. They have rice, soup menus, including hot pot. My wife said, hard to understand the menu, more Vietnamese language not clear English descriptions on the menu. But we found Chinese fried rice w chewy sausages and crab soup w noodles. The service was so fast. Almost right away we got the fried rice and crab soup. Wow...looked amazing. The portion is big enough for 2 people, very tasty. For the fried rice, very crunchy, well balanced w sausages, big shrimps. My wife had crab soup, she loved it. Made warm, sweaty, just like the comfort soup in the winter. Overall, the service and price are very good. The portion is huge. The broth is rich, lots of green veggies, tons of crab meats. She said, I can't stop eating this soup. Sooooo good. We will definitely come again. Will try other Vietnamese cuisines beside fried rice. Hopefully they can upgrade the menu clearer in English descriptions w pictures. Just like us, we don't know about the Vietnamese foods well except Pho, spring rolls.

Yelp
It's been a while I didn't go to Garden Grove unless I needed something for the gardening. We like the nursery in GG. Today I planned to go there and I found this restaurant by accident. I guess it was former Chinese restaurant in the past. There were lots of customers around 12. I am used to eat Pho rice noodles, spring rolls once in a while. That was all I knew about the Vietnamese foods. When I went over the menu, it was tough to understand what ingredients were there in the soup or rice dishes. So hard....for me and my hubby. However, we chose Chinese fried rice w sausages, eggs and hot soup w crab meats, some noodles. Thank God!!! Right choices for the first time!!! The fried rice looked so flavorful w big shrimps. It was heavenly good. For the soup w crab meats, there were crab meat balls, tofu, tons of crab meats w something crispy and chewy veggies like water Cresson. I love love it!! The broth was so flavorful, made me warm, relaxed. I want to try it next time for sure. We had a great lunch time to discover the new ambiance and new cuisines. Pros Price, quality, service: fast service, affordable price, 4 stars Ambiance: casual Cons Menu: so tough to understand for non Vietnamese customers Sauces: unclear what is hot, medium hot, or mild chili sauces for the dipping the meat balls in the soup for me. Overall, we liked the foods. Definitely come soon to try other foods.

Yelp
Ordered Bun Mốc as bun Bo hue wasn't available. First time trying Bun Mốc in general, so I was prepared for pork paste balls. The broth is quite nice and packed with a lot proteins. You get mostly large 4 piece of pork paste balls (kind of Luke warm temp) 2 pieces of fried cha chien , and some spare riblets which were tender fall off the bone. You get some mini toppings as fried pork chicharones. The blanched noodles are quite inconsistent as I found some fragments to be under cooked. Overall- you get bang for your buck on getting the proteins in. Be advised if you're here for on a 30 minute lunch break you won't make it. Upon getting seated - You will endure at least 10 window of waiting to place an order. Recommend the Bun Rieu over Bun Mốc.

Yelp
We ordered Bun Dau Mam Tom and Lau Rieu Cua. Both were delicious, service was also great, food came out quickly. Just quite small place.

Charles N.

Yelp
There's so many restaurants in Bolsa area serving similar food, but rarely will be a restaurant that serves truly unique but delicious and authentic Vietnamese cuisine. I came here because someone told me about the lâu riêu. What's that you may ask? Well, I asked the same question. It doesn't sound that appetizing and certainly I have never heard of it. But wow, it was amazing! So different and yet so good. The broth was so rich. The different types of vegetables and seafood. It was so good! I definitely am going back and I'm going to bring my family. For Thinsulin fans, there's so many green light options.

Caroline N.

Yelp
My dad's go to place for party food to-go- he especially loves the Lau de/goat stew and think it's the best in OC. As a sit in restaurant, it's a bit small but that only makes the food taste better. I got the bun bo hue and bun dau mam Tom to share and both were so so good. I love the extra spice on the side to add into my bun bo and the mam Tom sauce was extra fishy and so great to dip with the variety of cha. This is my new go to viet restaurant!

Ti Muoi H.

Yelp
Hom qua minh co tiec dat ca ri ga, de xao lan. Bep o day nau ngon , do a chat luong...bep nem rat vua mieng , chuan vi... minh se quay lai va se thu nhieu Mon khac? Minh co thu mua tra dao xa , no ngon ? Noi chung minh rat hai long voi do an, nuoc uong o day?

Yelp
Ordered another sticky rice dish here today. Basically the same one, xoi man, but without the Chinese sausage & pork roll, and substitute with chicken. They never skimp on the protein here, which is great. However, my only comment is, Bap Kitchen should put very little oil in the dish or on the side. It was too greasy at the bottom and the sticky rice is totally soaked and drowned in oil. :(

T T.

Yelp
Reasonable prices for generous homestyle cooked Vietnamese staples. I have not dined in here yet, everything has been taken to go so far. The bun bo hue and the bun rieu are our favorites!

Hailey H.

Yelp
Thức ăn ngon. Mọi thứ rất oki. Có bàn ngồi để ăn và sạch sẽ. Togo về nhanh. Hình sau đồ ăn y chang vậy. Tóm lại rất ngon và sạch sẽ

Wendy H.

Yelp
The restaurant was clean and the staff were nice. We got seated pretty quickly. All tables were taken. Bột chiên took awhile to come but it was very good and crunchy with good amount of egg. The bún mắm was just ok. The canh bún was a little plain and very little noodle with a lot of ong choy (rau muống) if you like the rau. Overall, it's a good place to eat.

Khoa T.

Yelp
The food is amazing. Small place but good service and good food. The price for the food is acceptable and too many food on 1 dish.

Bach Van L.

Yelp
Đồ ăn ở đây chưa có món nào tôi chê hết. Tôi là người biết nấu ăn mà phải ngưỡng mộ nhà hàng này

Phung D.

Yelp
My family and I ate at the old location a few times. We have been coming to the new location a few times to try different dishes. Overall everything we have tried so far have been good. A few honorable mentions are their bun mam, xôi mặn, bún bò Huế, goi bo tai chanh and lâu dê. I order the goi bo tai chanh often for potlucks or parties. We just ate bun mam today haha. Overall their food is delicious and the staff is very friendly.

Yelp
After searching for a new restaurant for early dinner. My wife said this place has 4 stars, so we gave it a try. Upon entering, it looks small and old and need a updated. Service person is ok, not bad like some poeple reviews. Menu has a lot of items, so we pick dishes below: 1) Bắp xào - it's looks good, smells good, and inviting. The portion is large, fresh, and flavorful. It only cost $8 for this dish. Oh, don't forget to add pepper to it. We love it. 2) Bột chiên - it looks good and smells great. It's not a large portion, but enough for me. The fried eggs and rice flour are crunchy outside but soft enough inside. I ate at many other places, and it is normally hard outside and dry inside. I would eat again next time. 3) bún mắm- this is my wife favorite bowl. She likes it. Sorry, I can't comment about how its smell , lol. The soup is flavorful but a little too salty for her, so she added 2 slices of lemon, and it tastes great. All the meats, fish and egg plants are perfectly yummy. BTW, this bowl is so big, I have to help her eat some, but we still can't finish it. She voted that this soup is the best around The Little Saigon area. This now will be one of our favorite restaurants around here.

Yelp
Great food. Consistent quality. My goto is pha lau and ma heo nuong chao. Highly recommend for authentic Vietnamese street food.

Trần B.

Yelp
I order 4- Xoi Man, Bot Chien, Bun Rieu Cua and Hu Tieu Nam Vang today. Xoi man and Bot chien very good but Bun Rieu Cua, Blood is not tasty, every bite is bitter so I threw away the whole Bun Rieu Cua.

Kim hiep L.

Yelp

The worker was very rude. They did not even say hello when we arrived. They were taking the order but acting like we were stealing something from them. I wish Yelp had a 0-star rating or even a negative. After the review was posted, she came to us and said sorry, but the attitude was like "ok I'm sorry, that's how I treat the customer". We didn't finish the disks after she came to us.

Chien N.

Yelp
Very good foods and great services. Lau cua dong is the best, bun dau mam tom is so tasty with the fermented sauce.

Elena C.

Yelp
The perfect meal place for a cold evening. They have the usual vietnamese food, with coffee and milk tea, and also beautiful noodle soups. I ordered Hai Phong style crab noodle soup (banh da cua Hai Phong, i think). But for me, i translated it as crab haven soul food. Well, not a haven for the crabs per se. The broth is packed with crab flavor. It's THE noodle soup for fishcake fans. There's so many elements in the noodle soup that you can have different bites in every scoop. And the water spinach really adds the fresh feel of the soup. The price is not cheap, but you'd definitely be fullfilled by the generous portion.

Ngo H.

Yelp
Bun man was so good. The tase exactly I ate in Vietnam. Highly recommend try Bun Man.

Sean Z.

Yelp
It is a little kitchen located next to a hobby shop. I stopped by to try it out. They have both in and out door dining. The indoor only has about 3 to 4 tables and 3 outside. The menu offers some varieties of sandwiches, soup, and rice platters. I ordered a beef stew rice. It was served in a bowl of rice, some mint leaves, and a bowl of stew. The stew itself was good, the rice had a good texture too. Beef was a little bit on the dry side, and there wasn't enough stew for the entire bowl of rice. I was able to enjoy my meal overall. I would give it 3.4 out of 5.

Johnny M.

Yelp
Hands down ! Bap's kitchen. Vietnamese comfort food to the finest. There are so many dishes that brings back memories of Vietnam. Get the goat curry , viet chicken wings , oh the crispy pork. The portions here is huge. Be prepared to be hungry

Selvar N.

Yelp
Look like they've moved to a bigger new location. I'm happy their business is doing so well and expanding. They serve a very delicious & affordable savory sticky rice which i'd say the best in the area. If you ever visit this store i highly recommend you try it out!

Trang L.

Yelp
4 stars for Lau Riêu Cua Đồng (need less salty a bit). 4 star for Bap Xao (need less buttery) 3 stars for Banh Trang Tron. It's generous with beef jerky topping but too much sauce that made the rice paper too wet and sticky. 0 star for Pha Lau. Bad smell like super old food. We have to trash the Pha Lau. This made us lost our appetite. Service was fast. Small cozy place and we order take out. Will be back for Lau riêu cua đồng .

Julia J.

Yelp
Try here comments by the Facebook group. Small businesses have nice service, and most people take orders by phone and pick up the food later, there are only some small tables for customers to enjoy there. Corn milk is sweet and creamy enough on the ice. Búm Mām good taste for me to enjoy it. Got some chicken Feet salad, Mãm chüng, and Mam ruóc Xào xä to go (the taste was good for me) Will come back!

Elliot C.

Yelp
We mainly came here for the phá lấu, was craving for it The food was so good, place is like a hole in the wall. Small place but lots of good Vietnamese food dishes. Definitely coming back for the food

Jasmine V.

Yelp
Got the Thai tea, mango green tea, chicken xoi man, combination xoi man, and their vegetarian fried rice. All so so delicious and high quality and good portions. Their teas were flavorful and everything was cooked super well. Interior is small but this is the go to spot for togos!

Tim N.

Yelp
Banh Canh tom - 3.5 stars - broth is good, meat selection is good, comes with dried shrimp, crab bits, pork, large shrimp, quail eggs: OVERALL GOOD Xôi ga lap xuong - 2.5 stars - sticky rice was kind of on the dry side, chicken was definitely on the dry side, Chinese sausage was good, didn't get that much to dried onions as other pictures showed... Almost perfect amount of soy sauce... OVERALL OK

Jae C.

Yelp
Just ordered to-go. Ordered Chinese fried rice & lomo sal tado. This is what I got. Probably the worst customer service I've experienced around. The menu is completely changed, the person taking phone orders doesn't speak English so it's difficult to order. Definitely not recommended unless you can speak the language. Called to complain that I received the wrong order but they didn't say or do anything to fix the issue at hand. They need to hire someone who can either speak English or they need to update the menu to reflect the correct items available.

Bee N.

Yelp
I had the banh da cua, it was super delicious! One of my favorite part was the stuffed chili! The meat and spice made a great combo! Will definitely order more.

Thuy T.

Yelp
My husband was playing next door and I wanted to pick up dinner and thought about this place due to all the reviews and recommendations. For some reason the menu was not loading on here so I walked over and their wifi was down so their menu was loading fully. They also failed to tell me that their phone and their card machine was down. I placed my order and was going to pay card but couldn't so I had to run out to my car to look for cash. I ordered the Shaken Beef with Rice and Savory Sticky Rice. The rice for the shaken beef was DRY. So dry, I tossed it and made my own. There were whole cloves of garlic in my meal and some pieces of extremely chewy beef. Same goes for the Savory Sticky Rice. The sticky rice was so dry and it was slightly salty. Probably will never come back.

Uyen N.

Yelp
We ordered to go sautéed goat, grilled goat, and pha lau. They were all good. Portions were big for the price. Enough for my family of 4. I like that they have fun street foods on their menu...not the usual bun rieu, pho, chao...you find in most other restaurants. Vietnamese cuisine is much diverse than what we normally see here. Definitely want more restaurants like this in the area.

Mimi L.

Yelp
This restaurant is a family-style restaurant, so all the dishes are carefully prepared as if they were made for themselves, so they are very rich and fresh.

Lisa P.

Yelp
Well this place is actually so good! They have a soft opening right now and my hair stylist referred me here because I love trying new foods. Everyone is super friendly and it is family owned. They are very clean. The grilled goat with Vietnamese Sate Sauce (#13) is a must try. Never had goat meat, but they made it just right. They also paired it with a delicious sauce to dip. As for the soup, it was also very flavorful and generous in proportion for authentic food and full of protein. The egg roll is very crispy and fresh but could use a little more seasoning or a dip. Overall, it was a great place for authentic Vietnamese cuisine. I also got their Thai Milk Tea with clear boba and it was fantastic.

Ken Z.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch at what used to be Soy Good. Staff was overall very friendly and polite. Coffee here is neat with both mild and strong varieties. Strong is hella strong and pricing and size is average. Ordered the shaken beef and it didn't take too long to come out. Portion size isn't bad at all. The beef was really soft and tasted pretty good. Seems like their specialty is goat meat as there's an entire menu section for it. It seems like it's worth checking out as not a lot of places serve goat.

Thao Ngan T.

Yelp
$20 wasted with xoi man & bot chien! not talking about the quality of the foods or the portions, i'm talking about the customer service of miss girl cashier. as if she was forced to serve us! unbothered face, not even said hi to us when we walked in. i'm not sure if she's even the owner or not but she needs to be trained again, plz!! fyi: miss girl cashier is also the owner just find that out

Tony P.

Yelp
The food and portion was good. Service was OK. Girl got little annoyed when we asked too many questions.

Kat V.

Yelp
This is one of the worst restaurants our family ever visited. Service was non-existence. Food came fast enough when ordered but except for their Crab Hotpot aka "Lau Cua Dong," all the other dishes were stale and underwhelmed. We ordered Pork Intestine marinated in Coconut Juice (this dish is delicious if prepared carefully and cleanly as expected of a restaurant but it was not) and as soon as the dish came, the odor of badly prepared ingredients was so stinky, I couldn't even bring myself to try. My sister was brave enough to take a bite and immediately spit it out. Then came the next dish which was recommended by the waitress/cashier, Goat Meat Steamed with Parilla. The meat was definitely not steamed but looked like it was sautéed/fried and greasy - definitely not freshly prepared. Their saving grace was the crab hotpot with a plate full of fresh vegetables. I added back 1 star for this veggie plate. The broth was flavorful. However, the restaurant's attempt at protein (cha cua) was pitiful. Even though we never expected decent service at a Vietnamese restaurant in Bolsa but this level of non-service was inexcusable. When I mentioned how stinky the pork intestine dish to one of the servers. She didn't even acknowledge or respond. Definitely not worth a second chance. We won't be back to this place.

Ngc Thm L.

Yelp
This is not the first time I order food from them. I know them from the first location. I order a big lau rieu cua dong but they give me old vegetables look like all left from yesterday. Also I have baby i carry my baby to pick up I asked the staff to help me bring the food to the car but her attitude so rude. Never come back or order anything from them again. We pay not only for the food we also pay for the service. Please respect your customers. I don't want to compare to the order restaurant OC và Lâu they not even give the customers good food they always asked me bring the food to the car help me if I order a lot.

July L.

Yelp
This spot is the first spot i can give a solid 5 stars for their tiet canh de. Its always consistent. Not too gamy either. Its literally the only thing i buy here lol. Definitely recommend that dish. Others...i havent had a chance to try.

Duyen P.

Yelp
Bún mắm hôm nay quá tệ, bún bị gãy vụn, nước lèo mặn, thịt quay cũng mặn chát. Làm mất ngon, uồn tô bún mắm.

Hienvy H.

Yelp
I've been coming back to this place to try different dishes, and each time I try new dishes they did not disappoint. I ordered the bánh canh this time, and not only the broth was so flavorful, they have so much toppings for just only $12.50. I was very happy with today's dishes. I also try out some of their already made stuff, and again, great quality and flavorful dishes. It is not a fancy restaurant, but if you want to come for great tasting dishes at a good price, highly recommend. Would definitely come back here to try more dishes that they have on the menu.

John K.

Yelp
Everything is fire here strong flavors and hearty af. Real asian food, none of that gentrified .

H L.

Yelp
Bún mắm is so delicious, fresh veggies. My friend tried Bún Riêu and it is yummy too. Definitely recommended.

Thomas Y.

Yelp
Tried the Lau De and Cari Ga. Both were so good! The chao sauce could be better though. Will definitely return for more!

Vanessa T.

Yelp
The food was pretty good but the portion was on the small side. My husband was still hungry after he finished his plate. Plan to wait a little longer for your food. They are new and still trying to get up to speed.

Chantelle L.

Yelp
Stopped by for their drinks but there was a table with a group having lunch! I love supporting new local businesses so I had to go check them out. Small brick and mortar, I can see this being a great spot to call in lunch or dinner if you're local and pickup to enjoy for home. They have some ready to go lunch/dinner meals and overall are priced reasonably. The passion fruit/green tea was delish. I would ask for 1/2 sweetness next time. I got the crystal boba, very good and a peach lychee tea. Hubby got the strong Vietnamese coffee- it is strong. I love that they ask for your preference. I'll be back!
