Ballard Korean Restaurant WeRo Is Closing Permanently - Eater Seattle

"Yoo continued to expand what WeRo offered, creating a prix fixe menu and launching a rice bowl lunch-only restaurant called Bapshim that earned an Eater Seattle Award for Best New Takeout." - Harry Cheadle

Ballard Korean Restaurant Wero Is Serving Lunch - Eater Seattle

"Now Yoo is launching a lunch service called Bapshim by Wero focused on rice bowls. 'Bapshim is a Korean word literally meaning ‘rice power,’’ Yoo says in a press release. 'Koreans use this word often to describe how, for Koreans, it doesn’t feel like we’ve really eaten a meal unless we had some rice.' The menu at Bapshim is different from Wero’s dinner menu — the turnaround time is faster and entrees are cheaper, $15 to $20 for a rice bowl. This is very much a fast casual restaurant, and customers can choose protein, type of rice, and a variety of toppings. (The whole menu is gluten free.) Yoo has already quietly launched Bapshim as a to-go business (you can order now via DoorDash and UberEats), and intends to open the space for lunch within the next month, staffing and construction permitting." - Harry Cheadle

Very good and fresh rice bowl! I got the bulgogi ribeye and loved the flavor of the marinade + tenderness of the beef. It is a little expensive for lunch, so it will be an occasional treat - BUT you can taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients so I’d say it’s well worth it overall. Can’t wait to come back soon!

If you live in Ballard, you know that there aren't that many options for healthy, fresh lunch bowls. This new Korean rice bowl place fills that void! We ordered a spicy chicken bowl with purple rice and mixed greens, corn, radish and cucumber. Not only did the bowl look stunning, but the chicken was very tender and well cooked, and the vegetables lent the perfect amount of pickle and crisp to brighten up the dish! Honestly one of the best rice bowls I've had in ages

Tiny hole in the wall with the most high end Korean rice bowls I've experienced to date. I love the purple rice and all the toppings and sauce options. The pickled red onions and corn were unique additions on top of the sweet Korean radish that really helped you want to keep eating as you get that savory, sweet, acidic combo. I recommend the doenjang honey sauce if you like sweet with a hint of miso or the spicy bibimbap if you like the more traditional flavor. I liked getting the sauce on the side so I could add it to my taste. My first time trying a mayak egg, perfectly cooked with a nice seasoning on the outside. Each bowl was pretty hefty but we both ended up finishing our bowls. Also...banana milk and Watson's counter (local brunch spot) coffee as drink options? Definitely stop by if you're in the area for lunch!

The food was really good. The flavors were all on-point. The quality of the ingredients was great. It was a bit on the pricey side for lunch, but well worth it if you can swing it. My only issue with it was that there was barely any spice. I've tried the spicy chicken both with the aioli and the bibimbap sauce. The aioli hasd pretty much no spice, the bibimbap had mild to medium spice. Again, flavors were great, it just needs more spice. Update: my most recent order of the spicy pork was noticably more spicy than usual. I don't know if this was a fluke or if they've actually updated their preparation, but it made me really happy.

Incredible. Perfect lunch. Simple menu and ordering process. All the toppings and sauces looked amazing so I got them all and they all worked perfectly together. My partner and I will be going back a lot. WeRo is one of our favorite restaurants in Ballard and this is their perfect little lunch spot

Excellent rice bowls. Nice mix of veggies fresh and pickled. Sauces are great. If they were open for dinner this would be a take-out go to for us.

Food so good, I almost didn't leave a review because I don't want it to get too busy. I can feel strength and vitality flowing through me with every bite. Great flavor, presentation and quality.
