Le Meurice Bar 228 is a beautiful spot for an elegant pause in the heart of Paris. The ambience is undeniably refined—classic, calm, and quietly luxurious—making it an ideal place for a relaxed drink or light bite in a sophisticated setting. The cocktails are well made and pleasant, though not particularly memorable. They’re enjoyable and balanced, just not the kind that linger in your mind long after you’ve left. I ordered the smoked salmon with blinis, which was tasty and well executed—simple, fresh, and exactly what you’d want in this kind of setting. It’s comfort done properly rather than anything overly inventive. Service is polite and professional, though it can be a bit slow, especially if the bar is busy. Nothing that ruins the experience, but worth noting if you’re in a hurry. Overall, Bar 228 is more about atmosphere than culinary surprise—a lovely, elegant place to sit back, soak in the surroundings, and enjoy a leisurely moment.

One of the best bars in Paris. So intimate and so beautiful. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, always present to make your experience comfortable and exceptional. Champagne service avec caviar is a family favorite. Can't wait to return over the holidays. If the musical duo are playing, it's a veritable cherry on top! Been patronizing for years and it has never disappointed us. Bravo Bar 228!

I stayed at Le Meurice on my most recent trip to Paris, and thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Bar 228. Bar staff were all friendly and knowledgable on the menu. Complimentary bar nuts and olives were delicious. Live music was great, but not too loud, and seemed to be enjoyed by all. Try the smoked salmon blinis, they're to die for!

Bar 228 delivered a true 5-star experience. The service was impressive from start to finish—polished, attentive, and genuinely professional without being stiff. The team guided the evening with confidence and great pacing, making the bar feel both luxe and welcoming. What we had: • The Very Dry Martini (x2) — crisp, perfectly balanced, exactly what you want from a martini in a room like this. • Espresso Martini — elegant and well-executed, not overly sweet, with a clean finish. • Pili Pili — vibrant, memorable, and beautifully constructed. The ambiance is classic Parisian sophistication—ideal for a refined night out. If you care about craft, hospitality, and a proper luxury bar standard, Bar 228 is absolutely worth it. Would return in a heartbeat.

Drinks were nice. Live music and atmosphere made our evening enjoyable. However the staff from reception to serving was not 5 star hotel quality. We did not feel welcome or taken care of. In fact, reception ladies were quite rude and inattentive. Server took our order promptly, but he threw coasters down and did not ask if we need water or anything else. This made the experience bland and did not match a quality expectation. On the sidenote, allergy concern was not addressed. We were given some chocolate with nuts and I expressed allergy concerns. The server made a face and took it away without making an effort to offer alternatives. Hospitality quality is lacking here.

I always think it's worth paying for new experiences and discoveries! The Maurice Millennium was good, maybe not worth 34 euros, and the Pistache by Cedric Grolet amazing and worth a million (the slight notes of salt and the fact that it wasn't too sweet was fantastic). However, team, when you price a cappuccino 15 euros, make sure to get it right : the beans were burnt and the milk boiled, you're left with a tasteless cappuccino and an overly airy foam.

Unfortunately, our experience at Bar 228 at Le Meurice was extremely disappointing. We ordered three shots of mezcal. I had checked the menu beforehand, where prices for similar drinks were around €30–35 per shot. However, when the bill arrived, we were charged €95 per shot — nearly €300 for three drinks. When I asked why, the response was: “We gave you the most expensive one,” as if this was a favor — but it was done without our consent or even a warning. This felt like an upsell of the most expensive option without disclosure, which is unacceptable at a venue of this level. I strongly recommend being very cautious with your orders here and always confirming the price in advance, even if it’s listed on the menu.

Compared to other palaces this one offered us most probably the best experience. The cocktails are incredible, the ancient chic Parisian atmosphere can be felt everywhere. Having live music makes it all the more enjoyable. Cherry on the cake, the staff is incredibly nice. Will make sure to come back soon.

I could not have been treated more disrespectfully. Begining with the door service, continuing with someone very rude whose name was Lilian and, finally, with a female manager whose name I did not get, I was treated quite poorly. It was made clear to me that they have no interest or need in providing service to me. I explained to the manager that a complaint is a gift- an opportunity to make things right. She had no interest. How this level of service is acceptable is perplexing at this type of establishment. Needless to say, I am offended and disgusted. Will spend my money elsewhere and encourage others to do the same.

Stopped by Bar 228 for drinks with my wife on a Sunday night and had a great experience. Jeremy created some amazing cocktails and was extremely friendly without being too overbearing. The space is quiet which makes it great to have a conversation or relax. We will definitely come back!

Elegant lounge with romantic atmosphere. Staff is friendly and extremely attentive. Bollinger Rose Champagne is amazing.

Ok I'm in the 228 and giving it 4 star . Why 4 star ok here goes. Positives Drinks very good Music superb, so often overlooked but without it you have nothing.It's actually Double bass and Piano. Very nice quality. Bar snacks Service Elegance and sophistication Nice touch on hand bag support for ladies Waiter got initially confused and placed my wife glass of wine for me but promptly realised his error. Negatives I nipped to bathroom and my Drink was served to table surely Wait and serve when the person is back if you are truly 5 star. Uniform all black but one of waiters has a brown belt. Upper right and left shelves of the bar need a display Lot of the candles in the central display extinguished, all about eye for detail Le Meurice.

Accidentally stumbled across this bar and very glad I did! We stopped by for a cocktail and snack to kill some time before going on a tour. This is a very high end bar with a fantastic drink selection and a great ambiance. The drinks are pretty expensive but in my opinion they are worth it for the amount of alcohol that they put into them. Great bar for a date or to just kill some time like we did.

Elegant, dimly-lit lounge with high-end aesthetics and a gracious wait staff. Old Fashions are carefully crafted and top-notch. Delightful experience. If you're in Paris with that very special someone, this place is worth checking out.

The place is extremely picturesque. The drinks were good. I don't think they were worth the price alone, but the pricing made sense given the location. I had a cocktail with a hibiscus in it. It was really well balanced. I asked for something with brandy and they made a brandy Manhattan. That was a little odd.

Just a great bar. The prices are high but it is Paris. High back leather chairs. Lounge music with a piano and a cello. Exceptional service. Beautiful intimate yet still larger in life. Appointments are refined and 'white table top service. '

Truly enjoyed this place but there was some confusion about the reservation aspect. I had a very overpriced Hot toddy but it was worth every sip. Online states no reservations accepted but there were many tables reserved. When I asked about it, they told me reservations are for staying guests only which was not stated online. Besides that, no issues getting a table for 1 or a drink with some side treats. The waiter was even nice enough and let me keep the pen. I do recommend and I will return after i've tried every other fancy bar in the city.

An excellent proper bar in Paris with classic hand made drinks of old and new. Tremendous champagne and wine selection as well. The staff are superb, kind and classic in manners and service. Enjoy this bar on a date for sure.
