The best sandwich shop that hasn’t been ruined with tourists. If you want to avoid all the viral places please just go here and you will have had the most amazing breakfast or snack in Venice. Even great for kids.

Bar alla Toletta is a beloved Venetian spot known for its delicious traditional tramezzini. These soft, overstuffed sandwiches come in a variety of classic fillings—simple, satisfying, and made with care. It’s the perfect place for a quick, authentic bite that captures the everyday flavors of Venice.

the food is nothing special but quite tasty. the bread of the sandwich is interesting but nothing you haven’t eaten before. my suggestion is DO NOT SIT INSIDE. the prices are almost doubled if you sit which is not made clear other than the menu in italian on the door. we paid 6 euros for one doppio. is this zurich or venice?

We all visit Venice for the history and tradition. This is a place, bar and Bacaro, that preserves the culture of the tramezzino. an institution. A guarantee, cheap, it serves a very large number of customers who on nice sunny days can consume the take-away food in a square along a nearby canal. From the station is a 15 minute walk. I would suggest getting your sandwiches/trammezzini before lunch time so as not to encounter the huge crowd of customers that crowd this Bacaro, to book if you want a seat, to be patient and kind with the owners who are very kind with the large amount of people they have to deal with.

Google
Location is great, but the experience was terrible. When I asked the staff for recommendations, he suggested a sandwich with pre-fabricated fried chicken patties. Seriously, who comes to Venice for that? The worst part was at checkout: when I paid by credit card, the staff charged me in US Dollars without asking or my consent. This made the meal more expensive for me, and the business likely gets a kickback for doing this. Maybe their sandwiches are good, but this feels like targeting tourists. Be cautious if you pay by card here and don't ask for any recommendations!!!

Firstly the service and charm of the cafe is just wonderful, we felt very welcomed, we chose 4 sandwiches, and I can hands down say these where the most original and delicious sandwiches Iv ever eaten, egg and artichoke or mozzarella and olive just wonderful! They also gave my pregnant partner a slice of incredible tiramisu!! Thank you guys!! Well worth the visit!

Yelp
Excellent tramezzini for a good price! The inside is small so if it's busy and there are seats take a seat. Otherwise be patient and wait at the bar and order to go. I recommend getting two per person, or more if really hungry. They are not expensive so pile em on. Classics are the tuna and egg, prosciutto and egg, and piccantino. Also piccantino with prosciutto is good. They have many so whatever your tastes you can try! Can also order pane from the window but recommend going inside for tramezzini

Yelp
Came here for a tramezzino pick-me-up, only 1,80€ per little sandwich and it was perfect. I had one with spicy sauce, ham, arugula, and mayonnaise. So simple yet so delicious! Wish I tried more of them!

Yelp
Awesome, FRESH tramezzini sandwiches!!!!! This family owned and operated business sells some of the BEST sandwiches I tried in town. The sandwich itself is on the smaller side- so you may need a couple to fill up- but not a problem at about 1-2 Euro EACH. However, the sandwiches are cheap but the house wine is more expensive than other places because they don't store many bottles on site (no space!!). The sandwich is very typical of Venice- has the signature "smiley face shape" you are looking for- due to thin (crustless) bread and a center PACKED with meat. The bread is baked fresh every morning at the bakery next door and the meat and cheese are both from all local shops. I tried the "prosciutto" (ham), egg (boiled eggs), and cheese sandwich and thought it was delicious!! Also, not MY personal likes or beliefs, but this is one of the few places left in town where you can try horse meat... Vegetarian options are also available at this shop.

Yelp
Very good sandwiches (tramezzini). I recommend trying cod (baccalà), rustico, prosciutto

Yelp
Great place for lunch or mid-afternoon snack. Sandwiches are already made so service is quick. They are small so after downing one each, me and our two kids (13 and 11) each ordered two more. Sandwiches are relatively cheap. The drinks, however, are crazy expensive since even for Europe. €4.50 for a small soda! And don't plan on coming here for supper. They're open until 8pm so we can back the next day at 5:45pm and they had three small sandwiches left and that was it. The main guy said it was tomorrow, which basically meant they were done making food today...2+ hours before closing.

Yelp
We came here on recommendation from our tour guide and tripadvisor. The tramezzini were really awesome. To some it may seem like a over-hyped mayo sandwich. But for us after a 2 hour walking tour, it was simply the best afternoon snack cum lunch. It tasted fresh, the bread was soft and the filling was overflowing. While we were at it we all got the penne arrabiata. It was simple, warm, spicy and tasty.

Yelp
A basic little sandwich snack, but don't expect to be wowed. We tried 3 different sandwiches and none were that good. 4 euro for a small soda?!?

Yelp
Absolutely disgusting food. And the service is very rude and unfriendly. To top it all, credit cards are accepted only above 30 euros. Just to show how much they want to save every cent. Appalling place.

Yelp
Good staff, great food, nice atmosphere and quick service. Would come back if I visit Venice again

super d.

Yelp
This place is only good for the triangular sandwich. You would need three of them to fill up a hungry adult stomach. Regular pasta is average taste and 1/2 of amount for the price. I regret that my guidebook suggested this restaurant.
