One of my favourite restaurants for fresh fish in Marbella, Altamirano, has been in business for forty years. The fish is sourced from the fishing port of La Bajadilla. Situated in Plaza Altamirano, one of the most charming plazas in Marbella's old town, it can get quite busy in the summer, especially on the terrace. It's wise to make a reservation or arrive early. The opening time for dinner is seven in the evening.
The menu features traditional Malaga dishes, such as fried fish or "pescaíto." While the prices may be slightly higher (between 20 to 30 Euros) than those at similar establishments, they are reasonable given the high quality of the food. The gambas al pilpil were delicious, and the swordfish was perfectly cooked, served with an olive oil and garlic sauce. The service is both efficient and warm, making it a great spot for fresh fish in a beautiful setting.
