Review for Bar Ardo
Our night at Bar Ardo got off to a rough start. From the moment we were seated, our server greeted us with an indifferent attitude, as if she wasn’t happy to be there. A warm welcome goes a long way, but unfortunately, that was missing.
Service was painfully slow. While I understand that it was Valentine’s Day, the restaurant should have anticipated the crowd and staffed accordingly. Waiting excessively long for our food made the experience even more frustrating.
The atmosphere was not ideal either. The restaurant was uncomfortably warm, the music was too loud, and the tables were spaced too closely together, making it difficult to have a conversation.
As for the food, it was a mixed bag. The ham and cheese appetizer was delicious, but the rest of the dishes lacked flavor. The steak was cooked medium well, despite us not being asked about our preferred doneness—most places default to medium rare, so this was disappointing. Desserts were also underwhelming; the gelato was icy rather than smooth, and the tiramisu was overly sweet.
The biggest letdown, however, was the service. The female server with ginger curly hair had a poor attitude that made the entire experience unpleasant. Front-of-house staff should enhance the dining experience, not detract from it.
Overall, Bar Ardo failed to impress on food, service, and ambiance. With so many great dining options in the city, I wouldn’t return—especially when hospitality is lacking.
