"If you have an evening in Berlin , Becketts Kopf is the perfect place to start it in style. You’ll know you’ve found the right address when you see the glowing photo of namesake Samuel Beckett in the window. Inside, this lounge specializes in masterly prepared cocktails, many using seasonal ingredients, served in two elegantly understated rooms. Reservations are recommended."

One of the interesting bars in Prenzlauer Berg. The entrance was kind of very unusual compared to other cocktail bars that I went to so far and it took me some time to find the bell. The atmosphere of the inside is typically dim but feels very extraordinary at the same time. Service is fast and friendly. The place is not so loud even though people are chatting here and there. So that makes it here a good candidate for a conversational date. The prices are fair enough for a cocktail bar. The only tiny piece of negative feedback I could put in is that they are missing details in their menu. I think the base alcohol of the cocktails at least should be written. Maybe they assume that a cocktail fan should know them already but that is not be the case most of time. You should drop by here for sure.

Drinks were interesting and unique. Bartender was very helpful and explained all the ingredients in the cocktails very thoroughly. Apparently this place says cash only but it’s not. The thing I didn’t like about this place was the vibe. I felt like I was in a smoking lounge. Music was weird too. If you like high end cocktails this would be the place for you but I don’t need to go back.

Unique atmosphere. This place really takes you away. Drink are characteristic. Unfortunately some noise from the ventilation covers up the music and the smoke smell is still something you will take home.

Cocktails of incredible quality and rare finesse. Powerful and precise with that perfect touch of dilution. Very attentive service. Very nice and relaxed general atmosphere. Unfortunately smoking place but if you come early enough, you will not be disturbed and a place at the bar will guarantee you an excellent time

This place is awesome! The cocktails are all carefully crafted with ingredients sourced from highly specialized craftsmen. Tell them what you like and let them make you something. Ask them about the ingredients and they'll tell you an amazing story. Quite an experience and highly recommended!!

BK mixes some of the best drinks in town. Pick one, or just ask for a suggestion based on your preference. And with the next one let them surprise you with something that we’ll connects wit the previous drink. I went for a Penicillin followed by a Muenster Maid. Great flavors and perfectly balanced. Don’t be surprised if prices are higher - quality deserves to be paid.

It was a good experience to go there. Unique atmosphere, hidden place and cocktails were made for my taste.

Be ready to let yourself be transported into different worlds. Ambience, poetry and cocktails have never found a better match than at Beckett's Kopf.

Yelp
Come here for the cocktails, which are the finest I've had in Berlin. The place is unpretentious, with unmemorable decor an no view whatsoever, but it is cozy, with some comfy couches to sit or cuddle at. The service is sweet, which is a rarity for Berlin. But such drinks! The menu is inventive, with surprising combinations using ingredients like violet and rosemary - but unlike those at, say, Monkey Bar, the tastes are balanced and complex, and don't merely sound good on paper. A nice plus is the price: while they're not cheap, at around 14 euros per drink, they are quite fair for what you get, and you're certainly getting premium here (unlike the 20 euro monstrosities at Odessa).

Yelp
Excellent cocktail bar. Oliver and team are amazing. The menu is OK, but don't limit yourself if you know what you want. They know their craft and will help navigate. If you want to nerd out on the state of local distillation, go for it. They know their products and provenance.

Yelp
You ring the doorbell, take a seat at the bar, gaze at the menu.. can't decide.. ask the bartender for a recommendation, watch him do his magic, and go into a state of pure bliss when taking the first sip from the vintage glass, wanting a second one, a third one, and then the lovely first one once more - it was after all this one you fell in love it in the first place. I don't know if this is a typical night at Becketts Kopf, but it was mine, and I could hardly have been happier. After just spending a little time in NY savouring the cocktail culture, finding a speakeasy like this in Berlin was one surprising delight. The bartender is imported from London, and rare bitters are sourced in Scotland. He is happy to answer all your (stupid?) questions despite being busy spraying the cocktails with orange blossom.. meant to please your nose, to enhance the experience even further. The ugly red leather chairs, and the smoke are the only two things holding me back for giving this place a full five stars.

Yelp
The cloister of cool and an elevation of mixology to an artform. A Berlin local brought me to this ultra cool hidden speakeasy. No signs, no street front, just a plain door on the street and buzzer gets you selectively admitted into this cloister of cool. Clearly a locals-only place, yet as an American, I was warmly welcomed and not treated as an outsider. The bartender is an old-school professional. You don't order a drink, instead he interviews you regarding likes, dislikes and mood, culminating in a recommendation. Take it! What is brought forth is a expertly crafted, unique concoction that just seems to be exactly what one would want, but could never describe if someone asked 'what do you want?'.

Yelp
This is a top notch cocktail bar. Dimly lit and nice but not pretentious. Cocktails were all well balanced and bartenders knowledgeable and polite to us tourists.

Yelp
In a city that prides itself on it's casual nature, it's nice to run into a sophisticated place like Becketts Kopf. You may think it's closed when you get there. It's dark and the door will be shut. If the scissor-gate is open, you're in luck! Ring the bell and they'll look through the keyhole to see if they want your kind inside. It's not as snooty as it sounds, as they let me in on a night that I looked like a drowned rat and my clothes were less than GQ worthy. Doormen at techno clubs are harder to get past. The place feels very cozy an private. The music isn't blaring and it can't hold a huge throng of people. The bartenders and staff are sophisticatedly dressed and very polite. They have cool menus. If you don't see what you're looking for, ask the bartender if he can make it. They are absolute pros when it comes to mixed drinks; by far the best I've seen and tasted in Berlin. Ask the bartender to make you one of his favorites. I would strongly recommend this place for entertaining an out-of-town client (cool client, not a goof), a nice place to talk to your date, or a nice place to go alone to enjoy a really good drink in a nice atmosphere. I look forward to going back when I return to Berlin.

Yelp
So I went there last night with a friend and we both enjoyed it a lot, A LOT. When we arrived around 21h30, the place was full but the nice lady at the door took my friend's phone number (a Slovenian cell phone) and called us 30 minutes later when there was a free spot for us. At that point, we were at another bar drinking so we got there 30 minutes after her phone call. What a treat! Not only were the people working there taking good care of us, but they were also very nice. Two drinks were recommended to us based on our tastes and they were perfect! We were seated at the bar and we got to watch them being prepared as well. We also chatted a bit with the bartender who explained a few things he put in his cocktails (we were intriguided by the sprays he uses). Overall, a great experience, great cocktails and very, very lovely people! Plus, loved the little Beckett elements: no sign outside, just the photo of Beckett, the menu was in a Beckett's book too: loved this!

Yelp
Didn't totally get the hype. I guess this place is pretty good for Berlin, but in this price range I expected the cocktails to compete with cocktail bars in other major international cities. They didn't. Don't get me wrong; nothing was bad. Not even close. Beckett's serves classic cocktails made with high quality ingredients (particular the bitters) - great - but nothing special, inventive, or out of the norm for an expensive cocktail bar in a big city. During the summer they have outdoor seating, and I wish we'd sat outside. I can see how the living room-like interior might be kinda cozy in the winter, but I found it a bit dark and depressing (and, as others have mentioned, smelly). I know Berlin is a late town, but the place was still almost empty when we left after 10 pm. I feel like the whole doorbell-ringing thing is kind of a ploy to try to make Beckett's seem more sophisticated or, um, popular than it is. And now I'm being truly petty, but the menu is silly. The drink descriptions are indecipherably flowery (not sure if they have English menus, though I do wonder if they would have been more straightforward...), and stuck inside of a Beckett novel (...in German translation. Okay?).

Yelp
My partner and I lived in Berlin for about three years. We went to Becketts Kopf at least once or twice a month during that time. If you enjoy the art of making great cocktails, you will love Becketts Kopf - interesting menu, top-shelf ingredients, professional / knowledgeable staff. And dogs are allowed inside! I recommend taking a seat at the bar during your first visit. Watching the bartender at work is 50% of the experience.

Yelp
i love bars with 20s theme, i have visit alot of these places in NY like Milk and Honey, Aphotheke, Angels Share and Raines law room. After searching on this kind of places in Berlin i got happy when i found this place. The place is not so hidden, alot of chairs outside the place seam to be open at daytime maybe? Ring at the door and the same procedur as in NY, place inside was ok but not more, it was to simple for me, Staff was ok but did not have any experience of whisky drinks, i dont like whieskey drinks that are bitter, the women could not help me, so i had to take a whiskey sour(never happen with real mixolygists), drink was ok. We tried other drinks and they where ok. Staff was ok and polite in general. I didint like most of the guests, more strange than cool, alot of them smoked inside the place, its terroble smelling cancer in the place, even in the non smoking part. I really dont understand this place but its ok, and the bartender did a good job. Drinks are 10 euro.

Yelp
I am not sure why I never wrote about Becketts Kopf earlier, especially since Becketts is one of the best cocktail bars in all Berlin. I mean, the cocktails are beyond delicious and even though I have a detaste for Prenzlberg, I wish I lived right next door to it. What makes this cocktail bar kinda special is that the people working at the place know a lot about cocktails and they will basically create anything for you, be it on the menu, or not. Just tell them what you feel like and they'll make sure you get it. Becketts is always packed during the weekend, if you want to enjoy your drinks in a more quiet and relaxed atmosphere, make sure to go during the week - but even when it's packed, it's not obnoxious. On top of the awesome service, the prices are not so bad either. It's not happy hour cheap shit, but also not for high rollers only. :) Cocktails start at around 7 EUR. And if you don't feel like a cocktail, just get a whiskey, rum, burbon, or whatever you are after. Just ask the barkeeper, I am sure he's got something for ya!

Yelp
nice idea, but very expensive (even beer is 4 euros). there is a lot of nicer bars in berlin with better prices. I like the mysterious and luxury touch of the bar, the waiters take your jacket when you come in. but for some reason it felt just like a normal bar (with hight prices) in the end.

Yelp
nice bar, decent wine, pleasant staff, cool ambiance - UTTER fail in the no-smoking area. Couldn't possibly consider what this place would be like on a busy night. There were only a few customers yet the no-smoking area was completely clouded in smoke! cough! cough! splutter! Makes for a pointless 'have'. Although I guess one benefit it did hide somewhat this 'artwork'?http://yfrog.com/j6176959872j

Yelp
Great cocktail bar. Drinks are exquisite and the bartender's attention to detail is amazing. Definitely the place if you're looking for a craft cocktail bar in Berlin. Make sure to ring the bell to get in.

Yelp
Tis my kind of cocktail bar - absurdly small, oddly pretentious, ruthlessly fine drinks; all waiting for that never arriving Godot

Yelp
It was obvious that the bartender really cared for his craft. He made some really good cocktails. He was also super friendly and welcoming right from the start. It is a bit pricy, but it's worth trying out.

Yelp
I love a fancy cocktail bar where the bartenders really enjoy their craft and take pride in each and every cocktail. We had a great time sitting at the bar - I loved watching the bartenders make each drink. Would be 5 stars except I happened to not love my cocktail. It wasn't poorly made by any means... it just ended up being not my favorite.

Yelp
This little cocktail bar serves some serious drinks. You can reserve tables, which is also much recommended as there is not standing area. The drinks are very original and seriously strong. We had the truffled eggnog (wow what a flavour) and a Gin based drink with some mandarin infusion. If you are into trying some special drinks and like good cocktails this is your place. Be aware that this is a smoking bar. If you are really bothered by smoke you won't be happy there.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite bars in Berlin. The cocktails are all extraordinary home recipes and of superior quality. When you are inside the bar, the reality outside doesn't really matter anymore.

Yelp
Good cocktails, but I was treated in a very unwelcoming manner by the staff. I wouldn't want to go again.

Yelp
This is a fabulous cocktail bar. The description of the drinks is wonderful poetic. The cocktails are originally and thoroughly designed and made and they trigger a variety of sensations on your pallet. The service is attentive, very knowledgeable, and happy to make adjustments based on your personal preferences. The only reason, I am not giving 5 stars is that it is one of the places were smoking is still allowed and that some of the seating is not overly comfortable but otherwise a jewel of a bar!

Yelp
Very cool speakeasy atmosphere with comfy sofas for lounging. Expertly crafted cocktails-perfectly balanced Manhattan, which is always my "test" drink. 4 stars though because if the smoking section, which permeated the air of the non-smoking section and caused flashbacks to my college days of going out in a less enlightened, more smoky time.

Yelp
Becketts Kopf has okay cocktails which become pretty poor when balanced against the quite expensive prices. Atmosphere is lacking and uncool, cluttered with people who want to buy their way into being popular. Decor is average, and the backroom possesses one of the most hideous paintings in the world, should be seen to be believed. If you want a nice cocktail bar in Berlin I would look to Xberg where you have some nice establishments with refinement and class without the bland middle-aged feeling of Prenzlauer Berg.

Yelp
Excellent drinks. A bit pricy for this hood. A comfy and stylish speakeasy with crafty drinks. I had a delicious strawberry ice-cream-champagne cocktail. Great date spot, not so great for groups. Very friendly doorman! Will be back.

Yelp
speak easy to me because i have such a head ache from my one too many drinks. to tell you the truth i don't really remember the place. it was dark, no, not dark, red, yes red. leather couches, ye...ess that was it, squeaky leather couches. the place was quite but not empty so why quite. speak easy? maybe. tiny glasses too tiny but then ok. a little bit too sweet, too pricey? oh well the normal pricey prices for the type of venue. forgettable? everything is forgettable with enough drinks so it suffers from its own curse.

Qype User (specia…)

Yelp
The best cocktail bar I have ever been to. The staff are professional mixologists. They will even make a cocktail based on what mood you're in. The only downside is because they put so much work into them, it can take a while to get served but you can't rush a drink this good!
