The 14 Best Wine Bars In Barcelona

"Situated in a residential area on the quieter side of Eixample, this tapas bar is the kind of neighborhood spot that everyone coming to Barcelona for the first time hopes to find but rarely does. Everything, including the short list of wine-by-the-glass, is affordable, the staff is friendly, and it’s just one of those places where you’ll want to spend as much time as possible. Grab a stool at the window inside or one of the outdoor tables and order a few staples like fried calamari and Iberian jamón croquetas. Betlem also serves creative specials like steak tartare with smoked eel, and an omelet with black pudding and seasonal mushrooms, if you feel like mixing things up." - isabelle kliger

Google
We stumbled upon this gem. Super cute atmosphere inside. It was too chilly for us to sit outside. Our server Marc explained clearly the menu and specials. He was attentive and also funny. Great personality for serving. The food was outstanding and creative and we decided the ham croquettes were the best we have had and we have had many. The calamari was tender and perfectly cooked. I recommend the salmon tataki with roasted eggplant puree. I am very glad we found this place.

Google
Little Gem of a bar. Food is fabulous, great choice of food, wines etc. The service is so very friendly even though they are busy most evenings and never get a rest. Greet with a smile and continue from there. You can Dine inside or out. You can get a "walk in" but would recommend booking to spare being disappointed. All in all a great find. And will visit again next time in Barcelona

Very high quality food. Lovely environment.

Google
Best ham I ever had in my life, I vividly recommend anyone who likes meat, good food and a calm/nice ambiance to come eat here I recommend ordering the Iberian ham with the tomato bread as they go beautifully together. Only problem is the seats that are better suited to take a drink wrather than eat there as they don’t leave much space for the legs.

Google
Atmosphere is good. We sat outside bc we had dogs. Extra charge to sit outside. Service is fast and friendly. They have an English menu. Food: they cook to order at location. Ordered croquettes, goat cheese salad, and tomato bread. All good. So far, my favorite tomato bread.

Google
The waiter was awesome- so friendly and gave excellent service. I was able to try vermouth before deciding to order it, which I did- it was very good and refreshing. We also ordered patatas bravas, goat cheese salad and croquettes. Oh, and the pan con tomato- definitely order this- the best we had in Barcelona! Highly recommend this picturesque café for tapas or dinner.

Google
Had one of our favorite meals in Barcelona here after wandering in this lovely neighborhood spot. Very nice setting inside and service was great. We enjoyed two of the daily specials and the dessert options were awesome - we loved the chocolate mousse with hazelnut cream

Google
Was recommended to visit Bar Betlem by a friend and boy, I’m so glad I took up his recommendation. What we ordered: 1. Brisket Chimichur that melts in your mouth 2. Amazing bread and tomato (when something simple is done exceptionally well, you know you’re in a good restaurant AND it was affordable) 3. Panna cotta with a unique topping 4. Excellent vermouth by tap (and by comparison, the best vermouth I’ve had in Barcelona) Definitely ranking Bar Betlem as one of my must go-to places in Barcelona. We will be back, especially since there wasn’t the reviewed cheesecake that we wanted to try!

Yelp
Cute little neighborhood cafe. We stopped in for a quick draft while we were out for the afternoon. We didn't try any food, but I perked at what others ordered. Everything looked delicious. We will be back.

Yelp
One tidbit of information my wife and I figured out during our recent travels to Barcelona was when a restaurant has a chalk board with hand written menu items then it's more than likely local and good. If it had pictures of the food and preprinted signs on the windows then it wasn't as good. Betlem fit the chalk board stereotype. The place was nice and cozey with both outdoor and indoor seating. The staff was nice and really quick to take our orders. We ordered a smorgasbord of tapas ranging from pan con tomate to anchovies to iberian ham croquettes. Obviously, all was washed down with a wine recommendation. Everything was great and quick to come out. We would definitely go back.

Yelp
Be careful a lot of restaurants how many numerical attic products, green peppers don't know if they have them have 5 star ratings but not 5 star quality or service... We stayed for 10 days in Barcelona and ate at a lot of good and bad places. Betlem is by far 100% our favorite. Great service, amazing attitude and the food had the taste you're looking for. Also the pricing is very fair for the quality of food.

Yelp
We stumbled upon Betlem after the restaurant we were directed to didn't have a table for us. So glad we did, as Betlem turned out to be one of our favorite spots during our week in Barcelona. It's a small, unassuming place, with handful of indoor and outdoor tables. We sat inside and were greeted by a smiling, friendly employee. Although it was full of locals, and we obviously were travelers, he instantly made us feel welcome and comfortable. We ordered several tapas, all of which were delicious. The Andalusian style squid (calamari) was so fresh, and the oil they cooked it in must have been sparkling clean, as the coating was a beautiful color, light and airy. My favorite tapa was the roasted veggies with anchovies, smoky and wonderful. And generous, just like the white wine pour. We strongly recommend this hidden gem.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Great tapas. Great service. Great sangria. Definitely a go to place if you're looking for more craft tapas in Barcelona. I would definitely return. We had their feathered tenderloin steak, fried octopus, and crab ravioli. The steak was seasoned well and soft. Fried octopus was cooked to the right tenderness and crispiness. Crab ravioli was amazing, possibly one of the best raviolis I have had.

Yves F.

Yelp
Overpriced and gentrified but very good wine choices. Don't be scared away by the "I'm too cool to serve non-white non-bourgeois patrons" attitude. Go for the blackboard menu choices and enjoy every bite in a cozy ambince.

Yelp
We had a lot of tapas on our trip. A lot. Betlem was an absolute standout with specials and seasonal dishes that were very good. It's a small space, reservations might help, but the two of us were able to sit.

Yelp
A cute corner spot catering to both locals and tourists. This was our first meal in Barcelona, and my favorite tapas out of five casual places we tried. Pan Con Tomate - A staple dish everywhere and this place did it the best! More tomatoes and not too heavy on the olive oil. King Crab Ravioli - I don't associate ravioli with tapas, but the reviews here were right - this was amazing! The ravioli skin was so light and delicate, and that crab filling was heavenly. The coconut flavor was evocative of Thai Tom Kha Ga soup. Ham and Cheese Croquette - Deep fried and filled with a good ratio of ham and cheese. Simple and satisfying. Grilled Octopus - Served with eggplant and roasted red pepper. The octopus was quite tender, and the smoky eggplant reminded me of babaganoush. Great combo with the red peppers. Cheese Plate - Came with great onion jam dip, hazelnuts, and crostini. The assorted goat and lamb cheeses had a nice range from soft and funky to grassy and hard. Lunch was about 50 euro for two. A little pricey for a casual spot, but the tapas were higher quality and the service was friendly. I enjoyed the tapas with a glass of white wine and espresso while waiting for my hotel check-in. Not a bad way to kick off the trip and especially needed after 24 hours of traveling!

Yelp
Best Spanish tapas I've ever had. Every dish was so simple, yet executed so perfectly well. This is the exact kind of restaurant you hope to find in Spain for an authentic experience. Must haves - cockles - steak tartare

Yelp
Came in here on a Monday night around 8:30pm and this place was packed!! I had to wait about 20 min. I had the octopus with eggplant and the crab raviolis. Both very good. You can taste the freshness and it comes out hot. It is a little pricey compared to the portion sizes. Would reccomend if you want to try fusion tapas.

Yelp
11pm tapas stop: 32oz beer mugs available=yay! Tasty pork loin over mashed taters quite satisfying, King Crab Ravioli good flavor but undercooked and mushy; Tuna Frieze Salad used canned-looking/tasting tuna; Tomato Bread heavy on olive oil. Friendly staff, clean space for corner, have walked by at lunchtime and packed out the door. Perhaps our cook was tired late at night on Saturday.

Devon M.

Yelp
Delicious tapas - highly recommend. The crab ravioli was to die for. Everything else was delicious as well. Outside area was the perfect place to relax and talk with friends. Also very friendly staff.

Wai P.

Yelp
I am a tourist. So I could only comment based on being a tourist. At first, we were the first when they opened. I was always thinking that if it's food was good then there should be people waiting. But then the rating was decent. So decided to stay and tried. The result was good. Cod omelette was so good. The egg was so soft. We also tried the egg plant salmon which was also good. The shop was small but cozy. Overall, good experience and good food.

Yelp
Highly recommended for modern tapas that thrill the palate! A friend who'd visited in the fall told me I just had to seek this small place out when she heard I'd be in the neighbourhood. Prices were on the high side but every dish was excellent. We ordered 3 tapas - a goat cheese salad (absolutely to die for black olives & orange balsamic dressing), grilled octopus on a bed of grilled red peppers & eggplant, & iberico pork w mash. Ended with an iced coffee & lemon soda.

Yelp
Our first tapas in Barcelona! We went late on a Thursday night and it was sort of crowded, pretty tight seating area but cute vibes. We had wine, croquettes, salmon, ravioli, and the best gravas potatoes!

Joe P.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this wonderful tapas place. The food and ambiance cannot be beat. Find it, come here. Creative food preparation and combinations. Do try the octopus and whatever else they recommend.

Kirk M.

Yelp
Great food. Friendly and helpful staff. The prices were also reasonable and away from the mass of tourist's

Yelp
I liked the atmosphere at Betlam better than the food. My sandwich was good, but my hot chocolate was TOO THICK. I appreciate it not being watered down, but it oozed like hot pudding. Order it and specify you want it to be with extra milk. The sandwiches are simple, but good. You can tell they use good ingredients. Service was okay and there are lots of trinkets on the wall to look at while you wait. I also like the shared seating. It's a great way to make friends with strangers without being awkward.
google avatar

Maggie W.

Yelp
I ordered croquettes, king crab ravioli, and steak tartare. The king crab ravioli was my favorite. The sauce had so much flavor! The steak tartare was also pretty good.
google avatar

Tia M.

Yelp
We loved this neighborhood Bistro with diverse, sophisticated Tapas. Barry was so personable and made some powerful Sangria. This place is bustling with locals, but even as Tourists we felt welcomed. I ordered the Steak Tartare tapas and it was fantastic. I would go out of my way to spend an evening at Betlem. The restaurant is very conveniently located by the Girona Metro stop.

TpArnaud ..

Yelp
Local gem and a must try. Beautiful for better quality taps. Wide range that will please everyone. Be sure to go.
google avatar

Leo G.

Yelp
Good service, good food, server was very attentive. Great place for a morning beer and a sausage sandwich
google avatar

Karina L.

Yelp
Avoid this place. Bloody Marys are bland. The ingredients are fresh but poorly cooked. Everything is very oily. Do not get the squid (the batter is too soft and oily), or the croquettes. The olives also swim in oil. The beef cheeks are good but after consuming liters of oil, they are not too appetizing. Bread was amazing (compare to everything else)! Also, way too expensive compare to other restaurants in the area. Service was ok. Very touristy, as well.

Yelp
My daughters and I went here two nights ago, already wary of mediocre food peddled to tourists. Very happy to say this was not the case here. The location was very convenient, on a fairly busy corner. We got the last table (inside) by good fortune. We ordered tapas, but make sure you ask for the "specials" menu, written on a portable blackboard. There are more specials than on the regular menu. We started simple with bread, olives, and a cheese plate. We didn't want the full plate, and our server graciously offered to give us a half serving. My daughter then choose a pork steak from the specials menu, it was more of a sliced, large pork chop over mashed potatoes. It was delicious, and also perfect to share. I had a Sangria, which was just ok, and a glass of wine, which was also ok. My daughters finished with two chocolate deserts- I think it was chocolate mousse with flavored whipped cream. They liked them. The check was very reasonable, 53 Euros. I highly recommend this place. Food is very good, reasonably priced, and the vibe is relaxed.
google avatar

Melinda Q.

Yelp
I am so glad I looked at Yelp! and found Betlem which was walking distance from our hotel after checking in. The sangrias were the best I've had (perhaps too soon to judge but it'll be hard to beat) and all the tapas we ordered were so good. Get the grill octopus, king crab raviolis, papas with some spicy sauce, ham and cheese croquettes and finish it off with their amazing cafe de leche. You will leave feeling satisfied and wanting more!
google avatar

Yelp
Probably the best food experience we had in Barcelona. All of the food was delicious. I had a salad and lobster ravioli. The staff was certain to inform me that it would only be (2) mid sized pieces, I was okay with that. My friends had the beef, patats brava's and salmon, all were good. The drinks were just okay. On one occasion I sent my drink back. The staff didn't seem to pleased but they offered to accommodate we with a new drink. I tried one of my friends drinks to ensure I liked it and decided to order that. The new drink they brought me was worse than 1st. It taste nothing like the drinks my friends had. I'm sure it was in retaliation for sending the 1st drink back.

Yelp
This place was A-OK in my book. I'd been to Barcelona before but couldn't for the life of me recall how impossible it was to get into places to eat at night -- and I mean tapas places. Not even dinner! So, while I relied pretty heavy on Yelp for direction, hubby and I had to ditch them because we couldn't get near them. While I don't mind having to call ahead for dinner reservations, when it comes to tapas, I don't want to wait around for 30+ minutes. And that brings me to Betlam... our hotel (I will be reviewing Hotel Europark shortly!) recommended Betlam to us. It was a block away from the hotel and there was no wait for a table. It was a cozy, well-lit and clean spot. We liked it immediately. The staff was super friendly and we had our fill of decent tapas and wine. It's not as flashy as the places closer to the "action" (Placa Catalunya), but we were hungry, tired and just wanted something casual and good. Betlam was the place.
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
Great food. The tapas style for Americans seems underfed but believe me it's enough food. Grab a latte AND a vermouth: they're both amazing. Heads up: the vermouth is in tap (exactly lol) and the olives are stuffed with anchovies. DONE : )

Ellie C.

Yelp
One of my favorite meals in Barcelona. Place is quite small but has an extensive tapas and bar menu. Good mix of locals as its in a family neighborhood. We went there twice to have the crab ravioli (melts in your mouth), warm ham & tomato sandwich, grilled octopus, and ham croquettes. You won't be disappointed...especially when accompanied by a bottle of cava. It's right outside the Girona metro stop. If you are in L'Eixample area, be sure to drop by this gem!
google avatar

Emily J.

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch when our cruise ship was docked for the day. We picked it based on the Yelp rating and it was a great decision! We enjoyed everything we ordered; grilled octopus, steak tartar, king crab ravioli, and ceviche. The sangria was very tasty! At the end I wished we had ordered 2 rounds! My favorite was the steak tartar.
google avatar

Janice L.

Yelp
A friend who is a Barcelona local took us here. Cool vibe, chic-casual atmosphere, and great tapas. Get the crab ravioli here. You will thank me. No pictures of it because they were so good, none of the 4 of us (including me) could wait for the photo op. Each dish contains 2 raviolis, so we ordered 2 dishes. But they were so good, we ordered another 2 dishes of it. Nice weather, so we sat at the high tables along the open patio/sidewalk doors, drinking wine. Had nachos with egg and other yummy food, but all I can think about are the crab ravioli.
google avatar

Àurea M.

Yelp
Vam anar fa 10 dies. Entrepans i tapes molt bones. Servei molt amable. Un llloc on tornar.
google avatar

Amber D.

Yelp
Delicious, bustling, and unpretentious little cafe. We came back three times and they were always busy yet somehow managed to immediately whip up a table for us every time. Be warned it is tiny and busy so you will be balancing everything on an itty bitty table. If you're expecting American-sized table real estate, ready to accommodate drinks, waters, personal plates, and the served dishes- it ain't here. Eating was a little bit of a juggling act as we wanted water and cava, but worth the effort. We never got personal plates by default (nor would they have fit), so come with friends you don't mind truly sharing a plate with. Wait staff was always charming and helpful. The cured veal was truly memorable and be sure to check the specials!
google avatar

Kevin S.

Yelp
Creative food and consistent high quality. The service is speedy and very helpful. A little pricey but it's the neighborhood you know?
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
Yummy for my tummy! A great little cafe where you're welcomed upon entering. The staff is nice and professional and helpful. They have menus in English and were very patient with their explanations and answering my questions. I had the steak tartar and crab ravioli. Tremendous. I finished off with the local desert, a fig jam "cheesecake" but with a local spin. Order very light and fluffy so"cheesecake" is misleading. Great value for the price.

Elisheva R.

Yelp
Loved our lunch here. Our favorite was the salmon tataki with smoked eggplant. But everything was good and we enjoyed our experience.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
I was looking for somewhere to eat after visiting the Desigual outlet around the corner and thank goodness for Yelp! I had the most amazing Andalusian style fried calamari. I would eat that every day if I could. Exceptionally helpful having menus in Spanish, English and French!
google avatar

Rob O.

Yelp
Lovely little restaurant and bar to sit outside and have lunch! Reasonable value - would recommend the cured veal
google avatar

Linda S.

Yelp
Very cute small cafe near where we stayed. Prices where reasonable and food was good. I had an amazing cheesecake ice cream with crumble on the base! really special. If you are close by, try it.
google avatar

Andreas A.

Yelp
Terrobly small portions, over priced. The so called iberica ham omelette contained miniscule amounts of ham - not enough to even detect.
google avatar

Ed B.

Yelp
Small but great. Lovely tapas and local wines and beer and a large assortment of liquor. Wonderful grilled octopus and king Crab cakes.
google avatar

Erica J.

Yelp
The service was amazing-and the food did not disappoint. Great location in Barcelona.
google avatar

Mary B.

Yelp
This food was wonderfully creative and subtle. Being from California we liked the variety of king crab ravioli to octopus to steak dishes that were mouthwatering ! The gin and tonic of the day was fun and the watermelon mojito hit the spot on a hot evening! Best of all is Noel the waiter who helped us pick tapas and shared his life story when asked! Definitely worth it
google avatar

Bradley H.

Yelp
This place is one of the best restaurants I've eaten at. All the food is fresh, delicious, and affordable. And the mojito is the best one I've ever had, refreshing and not overly sweet. We got the goat cheese salad (with a fig jam that was delicious), the salmon tar tar with avocado and passion fruit, and the king crab ravioli. I highly recommend the first two. Also, their olives were Marinated in a simple but great mix. They don't try to overdo it here, just do what they do very well. Keep it up!

Rachel V.

Yelp
Excellent cafe for breakfast. I got the continental- eggs were plain but fabulous and the orange juice was delicious. Seats outside, good service.
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
Outstanding. Far and away the nicest tapas sampled in Barcelona. Ate here twice and was not disappointed. Superb quality for the money. We had the smoked sardine on a bed of puréed celeriac, topped with arugula and dotted with basil oil. Best dish of the whole trip! Also great was the tomato bread, as in a lot of places, attention isn't paid to the bread itself. Here, the bread is fabulous artisanal loaf. The tripe and chickpeas was simply awesome, as was the gazpacho. On our second visit, we were treated to the private room upstairs, which was lovely. Nice friendly service, but there is a 10% surcharge for eating outside, which you don't want to do anyway due to the number of smokers ready to spoil the taste of everything. This is a lovely gem of a tapas bar, and I strongly recommend it
google avatar

Rebecca A.

Yelp
Came because of Yelp. Was disappointed. Not terrible at all, but I get the feeling that the quality of the food varies greatly depending on what you order. The goat cheese salad I had was lovely. I'd eat it again. My dining companion (who has a lot of food allergies so tends to eat simply) ordered a burger with cheese and absolutely nothing else, explaining that he had a lot of food allergies. It came with tomato stuff all over the bread, and though ordered medium, was so bloody that it soaked the bottom half of the ciabatta bun into a gushy red mess. Not at all appetizing. He ended up eating half of the ham omelet sandwich I ordered, which was edible but bland (wouldn't recommend). Service was nice enough.
google avatar

Rina F.

Yelp
Best gin and an afternoon drink :) one of the places to check out if ur in town . Patatas bravas r the best as well

Cam C.

Yelp
I tried the papas braves which were nice and crispy. Also tried the calamari which was fresh and lightly fried. I've only had calamari that good at two other places so I highly recommend. Last I had the lobster ravioli which was good but you only get 2 pieces for 10 euros so while tasty it is not a good value.
