The Best Bars in Athens | Eater Atlanta

"Inspired by Italian aperitivo hour, this Five Points bar offers a casual bistro-like ambiance complete with rattan chairs and a wine wall outfitted with twinkle lights. Outside, you’ll find a handful of white-clothed tables shaded by Campari-hued umbrellas that are perfect for sipping silky espresso martinis or a selection from the dedicated spritz list. Can’t decide what to try? Order a spritz flight, or tell the knowledgeable bartenders what you like, and they’ll whip up something special. A massive espresso machine churns out coffee drinks and rich affogato for those who’d rather not imbibe. A menu of Italian bites, ranging from salted Marcona almonds to a porcetta sandwich, ensures you can linger a little longer over your next round of cocktails." - Sarah Bisacca

Bar Bruno is a gem. My husband and I stop here often for coffee and it’s often a date night spot for us. The bar is cozy, the bartenders are so sweet and attentive, and the drinks and food are phenomenal.

Passed an enjoyable Sunday evening wining and dining at Bar Bruno! Counter service, and the few patio tables and the cozy windowside couches are the best seating. We ended up at the bar, with euro-style hands-off service and a relaxed vibe. The olives, arancini, and artichoke were loved, but the burrata’s not worth the money. Adored the greco di tufo and primitivo. Will be back for amaro flights or an afternoon café corretto! Great little local spot.

We stopped here for lunch and had the most lovely authentic food. It felt like we were in a wine bar in Italy itself and the owner explained lots of the recipes are his great grandmothers. Amazing quality ingredients and we couldn’t get over the olives and tomato bread

Bar Bruno is greedy. I brought a cake by earlier in the day for a friend's birthday and was told there would be a $6 outside dessert fee per person, assuming it would be the number of people eating the cake. We came in with a large group later that evening for drinks and appetizers. I was the one that cut and served the cake and they still did an auto gratuity of 20%. Only a small number of us ate the cake, but we were charged for the entire group of people sitting at the bar. It turned into an $80 fee for me to cut and serve our own cake. Bartenders also were not friendly nor did they pay attention to our group sitting at the bar. Overall an extremely negative experience.

Where to start?! Best Italian food I've had outside of Italy, the wine selection and Amaro selection are second to none! And the coffee is unbelievably good, and high quality Italian roasted beans. Literally the best playlist in town too. This place is such a gem and my favorite bar in Athens to write at or just watch the world go by.

Ordered a drink that didn’t taste good, asked if I could switch it out for a beer. I was told yes, and they took the drink completely full. At the end they charged me for both the cocktail I didn’t drink and the beer. I brought it to their attention, and they told me taking the drink off the tab isn’t their policy. I would have chugged down the awful drink had I known.

Bar Bruno is a truly a hidden gem in 5 points. The warm lighting and cozy atmosphere make it a perfect date night spot, and I’d highly recommend the Aperol Spritz (but don’t pass up the seasonal drinks, they’re great too!)

A place with a classy vibe. Great collection of Italian wines which the owner is very knowledgeable about. The accompanying small bites are high quality. Lots to love about this place.
