Bar Calico

This bar has some very unique and delicious cocktails! I love the Latin inspiration they have in many of the cocktails. My first drink was the City Oasis that was really nice and a bit smoky from the Sotol(which was my first time trying this alcohol). Second I tried The Shelton, which was probably my favorite of the night. It had Gin in a Watercress/apple soda with a bergamot liquor and Mexican Sake. Super fresh and dangerously smooth. Lastly I tried the Machu Picchu which is a sour using Pisco, Midori, and Aloe Vera. Very nice drink as well. Everything was balanced perfectly. Shout out to the bartenders here too, very friendly, attentive, and fast.

What a find!!! This bar was so cute, intimate, and comfortable, while serving amazing signature cocktails with great service. Location, ambience, even noise level were all perfection. I’ll definitely be returning again! Highly recommend the drinks with egg white in them - so delicious and refreshing, while unique and unforgettable. 5 stars all around.

Beautiful place, the staff is EXTREMELY RUDE though... weird vibes all around... too expensive for me to spend my money here will find other places to imbibe and hang with friends

Came here for drinks early on a Friday evening and found it almost completely empty. The space is small, but is comfortable and has a cool vibe. We enjoyed all the cocktails we tried, and the service was friendly. I especially enjoyed my corn whiskey cocktail. When we left around 6:30, there was only one other group present. This is a good spot to stop in for a well-made cocktail in a hotel bar that feels a bit more comfortable than the typical option.

Stumbled upon this bar with some friends—it’s tucked inside a hotel and mostly filled with Freehand guests staying there. It’s meant to give off a speakeasy vibe. Dim lighting and an intimate setting. The cocktail menu is entirely tequila based. I tried the prickly pear, which was decent, but overall, the vibe wasn’t really for me.

Great drinks, cool atmosphere. We got a seating area outside the bar in the “hall” area and it was comfortable and easier to talk (not as loud). Bartenders paid attention to the orders (my martini was dirty as requested and my other drink that I asked for a light pour was perfect). For how busy it was, we didn’t have to wait too long for our drinks.

My fiancé and I ended up sneaking into this lovely bar late on Christmas Eve, and the amazing mixologist bartender Alex was really great and helped us pick out the right drinks for our picky pallets. The menu is incredibly intricate and very exciting if you’re an adventurous drinker or just like trying new things! The atmosphere is very warm and was just what we needed after a way below freezing day in the city. Thanks again for everything!

Second floor of the Freehand Hotel, cool vintage characteristics but hip and well attended. Diverse crowd, not too loud or club-like. Not too quiet and boring. Great place to start an evening or meet for a date. Had the Prickly Pear and it was sooo good. Bartender described it as a watermelon basil salad and I was sold. Would definitely have that again! Can stay in the bar or go to the open lighter lobby type area which is also cool. Nice bartenders.

Lovely cocktail bar in flatiron. Good vibe and not too sceney great for both a small group or date night. Prickly pear and black manhattans were delicious; skip the old fashioned, although loved the old-fashioned glassware. Bartenders were fairly attentive, but can be kinda slow if there's a lot of customers as drinks are, of course, made to order and cocktails take time.

Another speakeasy vibe in the city. Located on the 2nd floor of the hotel. Seating options included in their bar area which was a little loud or by the elevator which was a quieter lounge area. Menu looked to specialize in Mezcal drinks.

Found this place by a friend taking me here, what a cozy location! When we arrived after 9pm, we were able to find a seat open and grab a drink from the bar. There was a large group there so it was a bit loud, however considering it's a bar, that's to be expected. We only stayed for one drink, so didn't try any of the food. Would go back another time if in the area for an event.

Really cute interior that sits inside the second floor of a hotel building. This bar emphasizes mexican liquors including sotol and mezcal. We were blown away by how smooth "cura clara" was, and how complex "the honeymoon" was. we also tried the sotol flight and it was definitely an educational experience! the bartender is very helpful.

Drink was great - bartender was attentive and mixed an awesome martini! But the bar is run over super loud young New Yorkers so not a place for a hotel guest to come get a night cap.

I mean, I had really good snacks here!!!! Plus a prickly pear cocktail that was sweet - just the way I like my drinks. Cheese bread - you get 3 globes slightly bigger than a ping pong. These were really pleasant and cheesy! it's almost as if the dough was merged w/ cheese too. The mushroom croquettes were also VERY good... these were small like the size of a meijol date. so 1 bite and done, you get three per order and these were addictive and super mushroomy and I LOVE mushrooms. Marcona almonds were excellent as well. good portion for 8bux... The room is dim, small, cozy... and service is great.

Would not recommend. Overpriced drinks with tip added to the tab so they can be as rude as they want ignoring you in favor of "suits". I will not be returning.
