20 Best Tapas Bars in Barcelona, From Old-School Dives to the Avant Garde | Condé Nast Traveler

"Appearing at first like an old Sant Antoni bar but revealing a cool, retro-trendy character—with tattooed chefs, a vinyl player and art on the walls—it combines top-notch produce, a laid-back vibe and excellent service; start with a Russian salad served with piparras and tuna belly, a bomba, or grilled red shrimp from the Costa Brava, and don’t miss the standout oxtail, kimchi and pickle burger, touted as an incredibly tasty, juicy highlight." - Isabelle Kliger

The 25 Best Restaurants In Barcelona - Barcelona - The Infatuation

"The Sant Antoni crowd was slightly put off by Bar Canyí when it opened. “A bomba for seven euros?!” they cried. After all, this former grungy old man’s bar still looks like a Manolo bar—if that particular Manolo had the taste level of David Rockwell. But it’s anything but. The tattooed owner duo, who are equally comfortable deep frying a croqueta as they are chatting to the guests or popping a new vinyl on the record player, already have people traversing the globe to eat at their fine-dining restaurant down the road. At Bar Canyí, that track record shows: the dry-cured mojama melts in your mouth like butter because it’s made with tuna belly, not tuna loin, the croquettes use real jamón Ibérico as opposed to the bechamel-heavy deep-frozen gunk you get elsewhere, and the burger (stuffed with oxtail, pickles, and kimchi) might just be the juiciest thing we’ve ever had." - isabelle kliger

I'm thrilled to share my recent experience at Canyi, the new restaurant from the owners of Slow and Low. Located in the heart of Barcelona's culinary district, Canyi offers an authentic and delicious dining experience. The specialty is traditional Catalan cuisine and iconic Spanish tapas, with dishes prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with a warm and hospitable team that's attentive and quick. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and happy to recommend the most emblematic and flavorful dishes. The location is perfect for exploring the city and enjoying a delicious meal. Overall, Canyi is a must-visit for anyone who loves traditional Catalan and Spanish cuisine. The food is authentic and delicious, the atmosphere is cozy, and the service is excellent. I highly recommend it!

All vibe, some bite, and a bill that stings Bar Canyí feels engineered for the feed: vinyl spinning, crowd buzzing, and that “neo-traditional” Barcelona bar aesthetic that screams we’re casual while charging like it’s not. The cooking is solid—classic tapas and comfort plates done with technique—but it rarely surprises. You’ll eat well, then realize you basically paid extra for the room’s confidence The bigger issue is the postureo: a constant sense that you’re part of someone else’s night out content. Add the no-reservations chaos and it can turn into a loud little competition for space. Wines lean more international than they need to in a city with plenty of local character, and the pricing doesn’t pretend to be friendly. Good? Yes. Relaxed neighborhood bar? Not really Clean: 7/10 Comfort: 7/10 Food: 8/10 Wine: 8/10 Service: 6/10 The Experience: 7/10 Price: 45€/pax

Our first taste of Tapas in Barcelona and what a way to start. Despite being very busy we were welcomed with a beer, before they found seats for us. Great atmosphere only surpassed by the tapas.

Great meal! Standouts were the burger, bombetta, pork cheeks and the croquetas. The dessert was lovely. Cheese with sesame crunches on top!
