Exclusive bar/lounge in a converted apartment that often plays host to Broadway stars post-show.
"If you’ve ever wondered who lives in the brownstones in the West 40s, join the club—because we have no idea. But we do know that one of them has a bar inside. Bar Centrale is a classic pre- or post-theater spot for cocktails and small plates, and there's a decent chance you'll spot some Broadway actors here." - bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, will hartman, sonal shah, tiffany yannetta
"There’s a good chance that your parents will, at some point, want to take you to a Broadway show (and it will probably star Patti Lupone). For a drink before or after, Bar Centrale is where you should go. It’s in a townhouse on 46th Street, and besides Carnegie Hall, it’s the classiest thing in the neighborhood. As an added bonus, you might even see a Broadway star (or, more likely, a producer you won’t recognize). Make a reservation to be safe." - bryan kim

"“It feels like a sort of secret sister to Joe Allen. Maybe I should regret keeping it on here and blowing up the spot, but it's where the theater peeps go to see their friends after the show or have a drink with collaborators or just talk shop. It's definitely very much an industry vibe. Every time I go there, I invariably see people from the community, so it's definitely not somewhere to go to be anonymous. But it feels very much like home. They make really good cocktails and they have a really eclectic snack menu that's ever-changing that is always weirdly delish. The menu changes every time I go. There was a point at which they had little tuna taco things that were really delish that I used to love. They make really good chips and guac, which is an after show staple—after you've done a show, you never don't want chips and guac. I also really like their plates. Honestly, they were some inspo for our wedding registry, because they’re just cute and colorful and iconic. And [the entrance is] unmarked, which always makes you feel really fancy and cool.”" - brennan carley
"There are restaurants that are simply near Broadway shows, and there are restaurants—like Bar Centrale—that cater specifically to theater-goers. When you make a reservation (only taken via phone, like it’s 1991), they ask about your show details so they can get you in and out on time. The entrance looks like any old brownstone, and once inside, you’ll feel like you stumbled into a secret club with zebra wallpaper, old-timey music, and Jimmy Stewart movies on TV. Come before or right after a show, and order deviled eggs, a strip steak, and a classic cocktail." - neha talreja, bryan kim, hannah albertine, sonal shah, will hartman, molly fitzpatrick
